Noone was manning reception when we arrived and staff were running around being very disorganised through the chaos of the england match weekend. Otherwise the room, the gym and the food in the bar are good. Constant jugs of iced jugs of water in the heat were very welcome.

No air con in rooms and if you’re in one of the front facing rooms that takes the sun all afternoon your room becomes an oven. A Temu air blower is provided but that just circulates warm air. There are keeps on the windows that you would expect, but they aren’t the type you can release to allow the windows to open a bit more to let some air in. It’s a modern building. Poor. And if you’re staying for a working week don’t expect your water or complimentary Club biscuit to be replenished at any time. No room fridge either. At the prices charged it’s reasonable to expect some creature comforts, and this was a ‘Club’ room. Food fine, staff lovely.

£5 charge to use the pool and gym despite a high nightly rate especially for a single room in Hull There was nobody at reception when I arrived (or at many other times) to greet me or point out the facilities in the hotel as a new guest with only an automated checking in computer available. Bathroom was filthy with a previous persons pubic hairs all over the toilet lid that I had to clean off. Large screen TV had scratches all over it (as did the lift) were it was obvious other guests had tried to damage them plus damaged to the walls in my room. Starbucks was ok for breakfast with reasonable service, didn't use the restaurant as the breakfast was very expensive for what you get. Not good value and felt like a Royal Rip off, avoid.
