Nice hotel near a metro stop and right across from Nijo Castle. Rooms were comfortable and breakfast every morning was very nice and convenient. We did have a 12 year old staying with us in our room and there was some confusion. They charged us for an additional adult in our room (totally fine) but didn't give him a breakfast coupon so the adults were able to have free breakfast but the child had to pay. Seemed odd. Also had to pay for use of the pool. And the lobby bar closed at 9pm which might be customary in Japan but surprised us. Other than that, we loved the location and amenities.

Very dated property. Charging for the pool was very rude. Extremely expensive breakfast and limited dining in bar. Generally good spot however and nice to have traditional rooms albeit smelt of mould slightly. Staff were lovely.

This hotel is in sever need of renovation. The carpets are disgustingly dirty. You can see that the hall ways have not been even vacuumed in decades. The rooms and bathrooms show their age. If this hotel was in the US it would be a motel. They have shut down their bar and the whole ambiance is depressing.

Very close to Castle, moderate walking distance to main subway hub but also good bus options and walking distance to manga museum. however room very dated. Staff at reception rude on arrival. room very dated with carpet in bathroom. Spa facilities were paid extra for but the bottom of the pool was rusty, hot spa was broken and leaking on the floor, really disappointing would not had paid if seen before. breakfast was good quality and filling. feels like a place that had its prime a few decades ago and would have been very grand then but needs a serious refurb especially as it asks for a higher price than other hotels because of the pool (which was then extra even for 5 year old and in terrible condition)

Known Hotel in a nice area of Kyoto. Hotel is older and could use an upgrade in the future. I asked for a non smoking room however the room smelled like smoke, especially in the Bathroom. I mentioned it to the hotel and they commented the smoking floor was a couple of levels below me so the smoke/smell must be coming up the vent from below. Shower/Tub could use a deep clean.

Hotel is in dire need of renovations and deep cleaning. There was mold in all of the nooks and crannies and the rooms were frozen in time from 1982. They had carpet in the bathroom.

Unfortunately the hotel is quite run down. It seems like it has been a solid place but these times are long gone. It’s not possible to open the window, so the air can only be exchanged by air conditioner. When we checked in, we noticed that the toilet in our room was not cleaned and to our horror there were also finger/toenails lying on the floor…. They gave us a new room.. All in all it’s an okay hotel but not for the price and it doesn’t deserve 4 stars.

Location was very good. Next to the castle. Subway was near-by. Room was spacious. However, room was not very clean. The drawer knobs were dusty. Imagine, in this covid days you would expect these to be cleaned and disinfected all the time. But they had collected dust for many days. The worst thing was breakfast line. The first day they said 40 minutes wait!!! We were shocked. It was similar the rest of our stay. They should do something about their breakfast service.

Room (522): 1.1 Dust on the cupboard (cleaned it myself to be able to put travel bag there). 1.2 Bathroom: mold on rod for shower curtain, mold in the ventilation device, mold on the lid to the false ceiling. 1.3 Conclusion: Worn out and not particularly clean. The mold in the bathroom is potentially hazardous to health, so the room should not be rented at all. 2. Pool and sauna: 2.1 Mold in the sauna area (on the ceiling above the plunge pool). 2.2 Non-functioning areas in the sauna (shower, small pool). 2.3 Pool area: rusty fitness equipment, dirty ceiling, generally unkempt and unloving condition. 2.4: Conclusion: Heavily worn, not fully functional and above all no longer up-to-date wellness area, for which you should not charge additional admission. The mold is potentially hazardous to health. 3: Overall conclusion: The hotel has its best times behind it for many years. It has to be completely renovated or - even better - demolished and rebuilt. In its current state, I strongly advise against booking.

Unfortunately, my room AC was either broken or could not cool off below 25.5C. I informed the front desk but their solution was to put a fan in the room which really did not help the situation. Being from Canada, I am not used to sleep in a hotel room at 25.5C. If this is an exception, great buy buyer be aware…

The room we stayed in had great amenities and aesthetically beautiful. It had rounded ceilings, built in mirror frames that blended seamlessly with the walls and stunning lighting to highlight all these details. Definitely one of the more interesting places we’ve recently stayed at. Would book again.

This hotel is centrally located as the bus is across the street as well as Nijo Castle. Mornings you could walk the perimeter. Nearby local type shops like a coffee shop to eat, noodle spot, konbini, and can walk to Nishiki Market. Along the way to Nishiki, there will be local restaurants to eat so you can dodge the touristy types if u want. Staff are extremely helpful. Luggage travel service was great. Used the laundry service to save time. It was well done as well as each day our room was serviced nicely. The slippers were really comfy. We had a triple bed room with good space compared to others. Enough outlets, refrigerator, coffee station, water pot, hair dryer. Room was a bit stuffy as I couldn’t get AC to cool the room down even with the humidifier/purifier on.

Location is primary and hotel is beautiful and so was so clean and refreshing. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. On my down side are the Japanese beds, very firm and uncomfortable. Showers and tubs are older. Ten view Was incredible, we stayed overlooking Nijo Castle, very easy to navigate and have a comfortable home base!

The customer service was amazing, staff was very friendly and the hotel is close to the train and bus routes. Loved being close to Nijo Castle and short bus ride to everywhere else. The hotel itself is very outdated. Decor seems very 80/90s but the rooms were spacious and lots of toiletry options.

At check-in the staff ignore me until a kind lady arrived and asked them to check me in. I was jet leg and arrived at breakfast at 0940am, 20min before closure. At 10:10am, a rude waiter went around telling everyone they were closed. Otherwise the staff were courteous. I won’t stay there again. Nor would I recommend anyone to stay there.

Urgently requie update to the property. Facilities and deco are not up to modern day standard and needs. Smelly bathroom. Requested taxi for my departure. Was told that I could book with taxi app. Never had this response ever Insisted on hotel handling my request. The young man clearly annoyed and said he can't guarantee taxi will arrive on time.

Ana Crown Plaza Hotel is located in a quite area and is not far from Kyoto main train station. We like this lovely hotel because the friendly and knowledgeable of Bell Captains- answered our questions and provided great recommendations of places to visit and the hotel is neat and provides great breakfast buffet. Moreover, the majestic Nijo Castle is just cross street of the hotel.

Fairly spacious room, albeit slightly dated. Really close to multiple bus transit routes, making it easy to get around. The hotel is located a less than 5min walk from Niko Castle, and around a 20min walk from Nishiki Market.

Water fall feature was lovely. Room was dated and carpeting was badly stained. A/C inefficient. Rude Buffett staff. Very overpriced all property restaurants. Sauna required extra fee. Was charged additional 400 yen /day amenities fee upon checkout. Unsure for what amenities were being charged. Very dissatisfied.
