Beautiful regenerated old hotel building, having had a re-fit and re-opening Feb '26, floors 4 and 5 still in progress and presently no lift to all floors above reception area. Very helpful staff, beautiful bar and lobby area. Excellent room, maintaining high quality fixtures and fittings, en suite shower room, beautifully appointed and characteristically set across two levels. Old sash windows, could do with some interior double glazing to keep out noise from the high street. Nice size car park to rear (chargeable) although tight. Overall very pleasant stay.

The staff were truly the best I have ever encountered in a hotel: I called to say I would be late and was told not to worry in the least and that the most important thing was to drive safely. When I arrived, I wasn't sure where the hotel carpark was, called again and the duty manager came out to find me and guide me in. The bartender was fabulous helpful and polite and the night receptionist super helpful too. 11/10!

The hotel was refurbished in February 2026 but the lift wasn’t working yet. The rooms looked lovely but it had single glazed windows so it was extremely noisy because the hotel is on the High Street. Lots of cars going past with loud exhausts and blaring music until the early hours so it disturbed my sleep. Bed and pillows were comfy. Unable to open windows to get air in. Found a toenail and false finger nail on the floor. Room door shuddered whenever someone opened or closed their room door nearby. No soundproofing, could hear all conversations in the corridor. Car park didn’t feel very safe, seemed quite rough and it was an additional fee.
