Hotel Bonaparte

The Bonaparte is a lovely hotel in Vieux Montreal with a very friendly and helpful staff, onsite in-and-out parking at a reasonable rate, and a wonderful restaurant. The room was spacious and clean. The continental breakfast brought to your room was very convenient and the welcome drink at check-in a happy surprise. All in all a wonderful stay.

The staff was excellent and very responsive and helpful. The facility is quite clean and the continental breakfast were very good. The only improvement I would make, is to have a lobby that is more conducive to just sitting around and unwinding. The lobby is lovely and bright, which we appreciated.

Beautiful hotel! We had a great 3 night stay in old montreal at Hotel Bonaparte. Centrally located, we walked everywhere without needing to move our car (conveniently parked right next door). We dined in their restaurant the first night and it was an amazing dinner. Staff was friendly, room and shared spaces were clean and despite being in the room right next to the elevator, we didn't hear a peep any night. The breakfast was filling and delicious each morning -- what a treat! I would gladly return!

Older building on a cobblestone street, but chic and sleek inside. Lovely entryway where they welcome you with a glass of Prosecco. The room was of a good size and had a lovely bathroom with massive shower. The Restaurante Bonaparte downstairs was incredible. Breakfast is brought to your room but is a big carb load with croissant, madeleine, yogurt, juice. I would very happily stay here again.

Wonderful hotel in an excellent location. Luc at the front desk is very helpful and friendly. The staff was able to accommodate all our requests. The room was spacious and quiet. This hotel is within walking distance of Notre Dame and restaurants and shopping. Parking is available next door.

Impressive lobby — greeted with sparking apple juice in a fluted glass. Love the very close-by parking with 24-hour manned security. The onsite restaurant is phenomenal. We had the tasting menu and it was marvelous.

The hotel sits perfectly in Olde Montreal. It is minutes walk from the Metro, fine dining, wonderful attractions and the River Walk. Parking is right next to the hotel for 35can a night. The Hotel is exclusive with new and unique hotel rooms, a quiet and calming atmosphere with professional staff. A 4 star restaurant is part of the first floor with a white clothed french theme. Wait staff and bar staff are attentive and professional. Of special note, individual continental breakfasts are made and delivered in special boxes by the restaurant. They the front desk personnel comment special praise. They are multilingual with fluent English was a plus. I want to call out the personal touch of front desk staff member Luc who, upon overhearing our plans for a trip to something we thought we might like, followed use out to the street to recommend Pointe-e-Calliere museum. Only a five minute walk from our hotel, it was filled with new and unique exhibits including a walk through a stone arch sewer system used by Montreal. Lit by special lighting and stretching for some distance, the soft music made for a remarkable experience. Thank you Luc. This was a gem of a find which we will revisit.

This is our go-to Hotel when visiting Montreal. Always the same welcomming people, beautiful rooms, great French restaurant and perfect location to visit old and new Montreal.

Good but should be better. Nice staff,clean beds. Had some hair in bathroom and some mildew at bottom of shower. Also had some ants in the background. Asked staff to put down a sticky trap but nothing was done. Lighted mirror was pulled out and hanging out of the wall ,should not be delivered like that. Id stay again but some details were overlooked.

The room was spotless, and the bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The location was perfect—just a few blocks from historic sites, yet the hotel itself remained wonderfully quiet, which was exactly what we wanted. The highlight of our stay was without a doubt the staff, especially Monsieur Luc. He was attentive, kind, and incredibly helpful, offering excellent tips that helped us make the most of our French-Canadian experience. Monsieur Martin was also very thoughtful and kindly prepared a packed breakfast for our early flight. We would most definitely stay there again!

Check in was efficient and quick. Room was very clean and quiet.

I had very high expectations for this property due to its excellent reviews and 4-star rating. However, upon arrival, I was immediately disappointed by the condition of the common areas. The carpet in the hallway was dirty, and the elevator was not clean either. At first, the room seemed fine, but after settling in, we noticed a faint urine smell in the bathroom and an overall dusty feel throughout the room. The bedding was particularly disappointing—the duvet was not comfortable, and the pillows were basic, lacking the firmness and quality I expected. While the staff was friendly and the complimentary breakfast was a nice touch, the breakfast options were simple and repetitive, so I wouldn’t consider it a major highlight. The best aspect of the hotel was its location, which was the primary reason we chose it. It’s central and convenient, so that did meet our expectations. Unfortunately, the worst part of the stay happened on our last day. I noticed bug bites—primarily on one side of my leg and arm—which became increasingly itchy as the day went on. I’m now back home, and the itchiness is still bothering me despite trying several remedies. I don’t believe they were bed bug bites, but something definitely bit me on my side of the bed. On top of everything, I found the hotel to be overpriced for what it offered. The overall condition, cleanliness, and comfort level did not justify the high rate we paid. Overall, I wouldn’t return to this hotel. There are much better options.

The street that the hotel is on is a bit grungy - piles of loose garbage close to the hotel (too bad local property owners aren't taking care of that)- but it didn't feel unsafe during my daytime walks around Old Montreal. Had two delicious dinners at the restaurant, with fabulous service.

The room was very clean, and the staff was wonderful!

We had the king room with balcony on the top floor. The room was tight so having the balcony provided extra space and felt less claustrophobic. Beds were really comfortable and it was nice to have a fridge in the room with 2 bottles of water. Toiletries were basic and continental breakfast each am was delivered to room. It had a croissant, cheese stick and juice which was sufficient for a quick bite in the am. The hotel didn’t have a real “lobby” and the restaurant in the hotel was very pricey. The “happy hour” posted in the elevator is actually a bar 2 blocks down and not in the hotel and this was a bit misleading. Overall it was a nice stay with basic amenities. Location was right around the corner from Notre Dame.

Breakfast is far from "gourmet" but if you have no other options it's not the worst thing I've had. Wifi was also very slow with a spotty connection. Other than those the hotel is in a great location and well managed.

The property was right in the middle of everything in Old Montreal. Continental breakfast was one pastry. It was very noisy from the street and one night woken at 3:30 when club across the street let out and the party moves to the street beneath our window. The pillow was not comfortable and there was no other option. It was clean and staff was friendly.

Our stay was excellent. The room was very clean. Parking was convenient.The staff was really nice and helpful. I would definitely stay again. The only issue was some noise at night (3AM)from some people loitering across the street from the hotel.

Room very nice..i would recommend not facing the street on saturday night ...noise lasted until 4am...loud music from cars, partyers yelling on street...but hotel and the restaurant were excellent

I found the interior of the room to be very old and the bed was uncomfortable. Location is perfect if you want to explore old town.

Beautiful hotel and a convenient location! The room was clean, quiet, comfortable and plenty of space. Our room overlooked the beautiful courtyard of the Basilica too. A wonderful place that also had a gorgeous restaurant and the hotel was able to recommend a parking area for us as well. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Hotel Bonaparte was everything we hoped it’d be: a short walk to the heart of Old Montreal, clean, fun-to-date, and affordable. We appreciated that our room was spacious and overlooked a park. It was a beautiful day so we enjoyed the windows open while we got situated. We would stay at Hotel Bonaparte again.

Staff was wonderful! Stopped traffic to help us park. Had a minor medical issue and they arranged an appointment with a doctor. They were above and beyond!

Everything was good but the female front desk that checked me in never offered me any welcome drink but did to other guests. Basically everyone except us. I hope that is not because that we are not Caucasian guests as we are in year 2025. It’s kinda odd and a bit questionable in my opinion. However housekeeping did a very good job. Parking staff were excellent. Thomas, at the front desk was extremely kind and enthusiasm to help me navigating the area. Amazing location and city view from window.

Front desk hotel staff were exceptional. We were greeted with a glass of prosecco at check-in. Concierge’s recommendations were so helpful and were all exactly what we were looking for. Front desk staff saw us coming in with wine one afternoon and quickly offered us a corkscrew (we had intentionally bought screw caps.) We had a view of Notre Dame from our window and hotel soundproofing was so good we could barely hear the hourly chimes. Only downside was the treacherous icy condition of the street on the whole block.

Excellent location in the old town. Great staff

This trip was our second visit to Old Montreal and we've stayed at Bonaparte both times. The location is perfect for a walking tour of the area and very near the various restaurants. Their own restaurant is excellent. Parking is next door to the hotel or around the block in an underground garage. The rooms are very comfortable with nice furniture. The bathrooms are nicely appointed with tiling and large showers. There are delightful hardwood floors throughout the building. They bring baked goods and juice to your door every morning for breakfast. The staff is terrific and genuinely friendly. You will really enjoy your stay here!

Great central old Montreal location. Rue St Paul one block away. Waterfront very close and next to Notre Dame Basilica

Location is very convenient to Old Montreal sites, shops, and restaurants. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Scones in a box in your room on your lap is not good. We resorted to nearby restaurants on Rue St. Paul.

Really nice hotel on the eastern edge of Old Montreal. All of it is within walking distance, we parked our car and never used it for our three day stay. The rooms are big, clean, and comfortable.

The room was clean and beautifully decorated and spacious. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They serve a continental breakfast waiting out your door in the morning. I needed it to be gluten free and they had a substitute. Also the restaurant was very good. Make room for the souffle dessert!

Perfect stay in Montreal! Location of the hotel is perfect for walking around old Montreal and easy to head off to other parts of the city. The restaurant and bar in the hotel were amazing! The bartender, Theo, made some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!

Front desk staff are excellent. Vibe is very boutiqu-y which is what we like. Restaurant was very good as well and fairly priced for what is offered...

Loved the location and the look of the hotel The only thing negative is the breakfast option. With a wonderful restaurant on the main floor one would think that breakfast could be better than a box with a piece of cake and a bottle of juice at the door in the morning. I understand the expense of the area but at the price of a nights stay the breakfast could be better

Cons - breakfast consists of a single square of fruit cake, a 1 inch cube of cheese and a few tiny pieces of dried apricots. This is a snack at best, but more like a dessert. I tried on 3 separate occasions to address this... in an email, in a personal discussion with the front desk in the evening who agreed it was small, but that's how it is, and then with the desk staff during the day after a second disatisfactory "breakfast". To her credit, she acknowledged my issue, and did her best to make notes for the kitchen to correct the problem. However, my 3rd breakfast arrived with her notes attached, but no change to the portions included. "Let them eat cake". Pros - location is perfect. Rooms have so much character with narrow slat wood floors, beautiful 10ft windows with original hardware, interior brick walls, and beautiful wall papers. Shower is fantastic with 24" built in rain shower head and oversized stall. Just so very disappointing to have completely missed the mark on the breakfast, despite 3 separate discussions to try to correct the problem.
