Parking was more closer than expected, literally around the corner from the front door. Great location, we were able to walk to the waterfront and old Montreal no problem. ( I guess this would depend on age and mobility though) about 15-20 minute walk

The area was great and the room was nice. The only problem I had was with the game room. It is deceptively small and it smelled like a bathroom. The facilities were down so it made sense to a degree. In any case, great for a one and done but I would recommend looking elsewhere.

The elevator was broken so we had to walk up quite a lot of stairs. Parking is confusing but close to the hotel and secure. The room was small.

Welcoming staff, convenient location, but building needs updates The staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful throughout my stay. The room size was convenient and overall quiet, except for some noise from the window-style AC unit. The washroom was quite small, though. The building is very old—as is the entire surrounding area—and there was a noticeable musty smell both in the room and common areas. It really feels like the whole place could use a renovation. On the plus side, parking was easy and located right next to the building. I paid $15 per 24 hours, with the ability to come and go multiple times.

Basement area very cool (but never pointed out by staff). Rooms large and ok. Clean but dated. Beds are hard. Excellent location. Not much directly around hotel, mostly closed down shops, but in a great location overall and only a few blocks from key areas or Metro. Parking ok to drive into but a pain to get back into to get car.

Wonderful ambience in an historic hotel in the Latin Quarter. Excellent location/neighborhood. Definitely enjoyed the billiards room. Staff were wonderful. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and the decor overall was very impressive!

Very convenient to get to (5 mins walk) from the Berri-UQAM metro station, which is also the final stop on the 747 airport bus. About 20 minutes walk to the convention centre. Unfortunately no breakfast available but spacious room. Decor not the most modern but that is of no importance to me. The room was clean, functional and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, as I had to check out early because of family illness and they contacted Expedia on my behalf and refunded my final night's stay. Thank you! Would stay here again.

Great location. An older hotel that appears to be going through a transition from an older bygone era into a more boutique appearance. My room was very clean and my short two night stay was very quiet. No bells and whistles but very quaint with an older European feel. Great location in a diverse city neighborhood. I definitely would stay there again.

Thr accessibility of the property is great. Everything that you need is within walking distance. Staff were helpful when we needed anything. However, I can't overlook that the room was very obviously unclean. Sheets seemed to be clean. But the bathroom still had residue on sink and shelving, and urine along the toilet base. Drawers in rooms were not even cleaned out, let alone wiped down, with change and hairties left from previous guests. Bath towels were not left in room, we had to go down and ask for them. Overall, I don't think we would return, as it was a pretty disappointing.

Not that it was a huge deal, but the TV never worked properly. We had someone come up 3 times, and it worked for a brief few moments and then it didn’t. We gave up. They need to spray for insects. Saw a multi-legged insect on the wall next to the curtain. By the time I got something to kill it, it was gone. Kind of creepy looking. Yuck! Would not stay there again.Area around hotel was a little sketchy as well, but I never felt unsafe.

The sink in our room was clogged and the room was very warm with no way to adjust the temperature aside from opening the windows. The street was busy, so that made for a noisy night. Even though we placed towels to be replaced, they were not. The hallway outside our room also had a foul smell, almost like sulfur or sewage. Staff were pleasant and for a short stay, Hôtel St. Denis was adequate.

The room needs an update badly. The desk chair is badly worn, as are the club chairs in the den. The bed was comfortable, but street noise was bothersome, as the window couldn't be closed properly due to an installed air conditioner. The staff was pleasant.

Great room for the money. The remodeled bathrooms are just awful, though. They are tiny and there’s no door on the shower, so water goes everywhere. There’s alot of homeless people in that areas as well. But I have stayed there many times over the years, and I’m sure I will continue to.

The bathroom was an absolute nightmare, everything was cramped in 2 sqm, and one had to place the legs into the shower to actually be able to sit on the closet. That bathroom should not be allowed in any hotel, I am sure it did not pass the building code regulations.

Did not love the hotel at all. Room was not nice, was what you’d expect at a hostel or $99 hotel in seedy area of town. Washroom so small with no curtain or door so entire toilet and floor covered in water, no room to even keep a toothbrush. Cheap and disgusting. Will never stay again, hotel should have way fewer stars! It was raining, I asked if hotel had an umbrella and was given one that looked like it came out of a trash bin. Very disappointed!

Old hotel with aging rooms but good value for money. They let us check into our rooms early rather than just drop our bags which was nice and put us in rear rooms that were quiet so we had a pleasant stay.

I ran the Montreal Marathon and finished at about 12:15. Returning to the hotel was not easy. When I arrived, they didn’t allow for a late check-out (check-out is at 12, of course). I was very willing to pay extra to go upstairs, take a shower, and leave. But, they were not flexible, at all. I will never recommend this hotel

Location was within walking distance of places of interest such as Notre-Dame Basilica and amazing historic architecture of old Montreal. Lots of restaurants, bars and cafe's too. Area immediately surrounding was a little sketchy and maybe not the most family friendly if you have young kids with you but, that being said, we felt safe walking around at night.

Have always loved this cute little hotel, but it looks like it hasn’t been updated whatsoever over the years. The location is ok, but there’s alot of homeless people in the area. There is parking close to the property. But for the price, it’s still a good option for a short visit to montreal.

The hotel itself was great. The area where situated was dirty and rundown, quite a few homeless. The desk staff were lovely except one night guy, who either disliked his job or English speaking people

Parking was more closer than expected, literally around the corner from the front door. Great location, we were able to walk to the waterfront and old Montreal no problem. ( I guess this would depend on age and mobility though) about 15-20 minute walk

The property is definitely dated but they’ve renovated the rooms quite nicely. The staff were very friendly and rooms were clean. Bed was quite comfortable. Our biggest concern was the area. While there were tourists, there were also tons of homeless people on the surrounding streets which made us a bit u comfortable, although they seemed harmless. Access to the metro and other restaurants were great.

Older motel, but very clean and the staff were very nice. Walking distance to Old Montreal was amazing. Bed was comfortable, and would definitly stay again.

The location for the east village and St Denis street is wonderful. The hotel is super clean rooms are a good size. Beds are comfortable and linen are great. Do not let the outside put off. The hotel is great . Front desk staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Remember this is no breakfast but there are many restaurants near by

It's walkable to old Montreal, Near a College, Evening stroll. busy areas for night life if interested. Was overall good place. We only stayed a night and it was just perfect. Not a luxury place but good, clean and comfortable and affordable.

The hotel is very inconspicuous from the outside. Blink, and you'll miss it. Check in was quick and easy. Parking in the underground lot was easy to get to and cheap ($12.00) for over night. Granted, all the doors to get into the garage were locked on Saturday morning making it frustrating to get back to our car. The room was nice, and clean. Window AC unit and a heater in the room kept things comfortable. The shower/tub combo was very narrow and the tub was a bit spongy giving it a feeling of instability. Overall noise level wasnt bad. Good selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

This hotel is more on the "no-frills" side of things, but we had a great stay nonetheless. The room was clean and spacious, and the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There is a metro stop about a block away, making traveling through the city convenient. Plenty of dining options in walking distance, also. The only tiny complaints would be that there is only an air-conditioning unit in the window, and that when we went to fill up our water bottles, the filter needed maintenance. Parking was also a bit of a hassle, but it's not associated with the hotel and therefore not their fault.

Very convenient to get to (5 mins walk) from the Berri-UQAM metro station, which is also the final stop on the 747 airport bus. About 20 minutes walk to the convention centre. Unfortunately no breakfast available but spacious room. Decor not the most modern but that is of no importance to me. The room was clean, functional and comfortable. The staff were very helpful, as I had to check out early because of family illness and they contacted Expedia on my behalf and refunded my final night's stay. Thank you! Would stay here again.

Very impressed by the cleanliness of the space and the convenience of the location-walking steps to a favorite restaurant,VEGE,subway a block away. Best accumulation of fine dining-cheap,too-all walkable. First went to MJF in the ‘80’s and made sure to squeeze as many concerts as possible. Travel tip: get your rest daily. Either way you approach a stay in Montreal- jazz festival or not-this choice spot on St.Denis deserves a look. You can get to as many eateries as possible (squeezing in musical performances around them),or the other way around! All year long. Viva Montreal!

Excellent location, close to everything downdown, and Transit if you need to go elsewhere. Parking is not on site, but is available for about $17 a night.
