The hotel is under construction, which ruins the experience. Spa was not working which was very disappointing to…I booked it looking forward to the spa experience. Room very small and coffee machine was not working, also TV menu was in French so I had to call hotel to send someone to figure out how to switch to English. Would not recommend at least until it’s done construction. Overpriced considering experience provided

We always loved the Sofitel, and regularly stayed at the hotel over the years when visiting family: but no gym, no bar, no Renoir, no place to sit while waiting in the entrance is really annoying as they are redoing the entrance, the restaurant, and the gym: what is the point of going if it is not cheaper. We were staying on the 14th floor on the street side on the main road, Sherbrooke. For the first time I slept so badly while at the hotel because of the street noise. Then only having the duvet for the bed, I was often too warm. I spend all night having it either on, when too cold, and off, when too warm. We had just spent 2 days in a Relais-Châteaux in North Hatley and I realized how disappointing Le Sofitel was.

Entire place under construction. No lobby, no gym, no restaurant, no bar. Just a construction site with rooms. Insane these rooms are going for full price given the condition of this place. Will never stay again.

It’s under construction- do not book If you won’t stay in the hotel and just want to explore, it’s good- good location and friendly staff. However, there is NO amenity - no gym, no pool, no place to eat, it’s fully under construction. The hotel should at very least disclose it and offer a bit of discount.

I liked the valet parking, so that I did not have to be concerned with the challenges of parking in downtown Montreal. All staff were very courteous and helpful. Rooms were clean and welcoming, beds very comfortable. Will definitely return.

The reception, bar, restaurant are closed for construction. I picked the hotel for its location and restaurant having a good atmosphere for a morning meal meeting. Well no one had the decency to advise me when calling and or booking the room. My scheduled meeting was a disaster to move last min and the price was insane for the inconveniences at the property.

This is a beautiful hotel but it is under construction. I was not aware of that when I booked and there have been almost no provisions made for that--there is no in-hotel dining, bar, or gym, or even nice place to sit, and no discount for the fact that they are lacking these amenities. The entrance has not even been finished to look nice temporarily, it looks like a construction zone. I would go back but not until it is redone.

Staff was very nice, however, the hotel was under construction, so many of the services that should be offered in 5-star hotels were not available, ie. fitness center and restaurants. This was not indicated on the website when I booked the hotel, and had I known I would not have booked it. We made a complaint and the hotel did not do anything about it.

The hotel is lovely. The rooms are clean, the staff is lovely. We really enjoyed the breakfast with our rooms. The bar area is nice for sitting and having a late night drink. This was a long walk to the Vieux Port, but that was okay with us. Beautiful hotel.

Hotel location is great . Close to everything . Room service one day was not great but the other day it was . Supplies were not replaced from day to day and I was there for 5 days . Staff was friendly . Bed was comfortable but not pillows . Overall , I would rate 7 out of 10 and give it a 3.5 star rating

We had a very uncommon stay for an hotel of this rating and a Sofitel property. After booking our stay and fully paying for it, we received an email the following day informing us that the restaurant, lobby, reception and some amenities were closed for renovations… We called the property and were told it was posted in their website (not in my region) and that if it was an issue I could cancel and go somewhere else (5 star service/brand????). The GM was contacted and he did call back and apologized, he looked forward to meet and greet us upon arrival but only had a generic note and macarons. Never had the opportunity to meet, even after we flagged that 3 days in a row we encountered cleaning room issues. It would have been all forgotten and good if we didn’t have to ask for housekeeping everyday, for 3 days the housekeeping missed our request for the room to be cleaned and would show up around 4pm or later. Long story short, this is a great location and an aged property. It lacks so much and needs to be fully renovated to merit its 5 starts and Sofitel level standards. The location probably fills the room by itself but this is not enough, staff was hit or miss, everyone polite but a mix of intern level receptionists and few senior seasoned hospitality professionals. We are regular Accor and Sofitel travelers and unfortunately do not recommend this property. We won’t be back,

The only complaint I had was there was only one face cloth and 2 of us in the room.. When we came back to our room after being out for dinner they had done the turn down service it was a very nice touch, however they used our bathroom and the toilet wasn’t flushed properly and it was a bit smelly yuk!!! Other that that it was very nice hotel

Me and my wife enjoyed our stay. First time to Montreal. Everyone was helpful And nice as well as friendly. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but we did order room service. Food was very good. Rooms clean and well maintained. Thanks

The Sofitel is an excellent property, but sits on an avenue that is quite busy for traffic. (also meaning reasonably located to other portions of Montreal) The building, rooms, and people were all excellent. However, beyond significant traffic noise going well into the a.m., there were some issues. A key that didn't work, requiring multiple trips to the front desk. Room clean up was quite late on a Saturday, leaving us wondering whether we should come or go during the day. The cleaning portion was very good. Do not expect to get US cash if you want smaller bills. If you are a sound sleeper, this may be quite wonderful for you, but even with a partner that sleeps quite well, we found ourselves lacking sleep from the constant noise in the 9th floor room.

The property is chic and modern. And our newly renovated suite was so well designed with efficient use of space. Felt very cosy and comfortable. One of the better Sofitel properties we've been to. MUCH better than the Washington DC location!!!!

We are easy going travelers but this hotel was an Absolute Nightmare!!! 1st: Hotel was unable to check us in on time. Room not until 4:30 pm on Check In Day (this was not the end of the world but inconvenient as we had been up since 3:00 am). 2nd: Hours after checking in, Water flooded the bathroom from several floors above, spilling into the room. The property had to move us to a new room. We paid extra for the original room that we were in and the new room wasn't as nice. 3rd: NO HOT WATER the next morning. The Cold shower in the morning was the icing on the cake! This hotel is an absolute disaster! We requested a credit or discount due to all of the issues and I believe we should have received some credit for part of the stay. The hotel refused. Sometimes apologies aren't enough. The Sofitel brand has lost my business forever. 5 Star hotel unable to provide the basics and too cheap to make it up to a customer. I am very disappointed and will make my feelings known to their corporate office.

The staff at the property were very courteous. The valet drivers deserve a recognition for always checking with our party as we entered and exited the hotel. They took the time to explain local driving rules, the proximity of nearby venues and ease of getting there. Upon check out, the valet at the door asked if we enjoyed our stayed and asked if we would return. He explained that the hotel was being remodeled and he saw the sketches. His enthusiasm for the end result has definitely encouraged me to plan a return trip just to see the final product. We were in town for a Laufey concert and coincidentally it was also the Montréal Jazz Fest.

From the second we got there, they took care of everything. Valley parking, they brought bags to the rooms, even had a concierge on site to walk your dog. Super pet friendly (with a fee) and wonderful staff!

The hotel was very nice and clean and what we loved the most was the friendliness of the entire staff, very professional and helpful in every way possible The concierge Sabina was a very nice lady and she offered great advice and is one of the friendliest people you could ask for.. Mahdi from the front desk were exceptionally helpful and very professional … Deris from the reservation back office was so helpful and was a great help for us even before arriving.. The Hotel is very nice but the staff is what lifted the whole experience..

The property is clean and nicely appointed - I especially liked the generously sized marble bathroom. However, the in room dining experience was terrible. Upon arrival, we ordered room service and judging from the way our food arrived, one might think it was opposite day. I ordered white wine with dinner and they brought red, we ordered cauliflower soup, assuming it was hot, and beknownst to us was actually cold, the cold chocolate milk my daughter ordered came hot, the salad resembled nothing like what was described... They brought the white wine only after we finished our meal, and did not correct the soup, salad or sandwich issues. Upon check out I brought these issues to the attention of the front desk clerk. He said he would inform management but no one has contacted me about my experience.

Unfortunately the hotel’s restaurant and bar were closed for renovations . Had I known this I would have stayed elsewhere . As it was the experience was poor and I was irritated that no effort was made to compensate guests.

The cook of the restaurant fries seafood in the same oil and fryer where he fries potatoes, that was the reason they gave me for not bringing fries to me because I’m allergic to seafood. Was an awful experience

Although the first floor was under construction, this did not bother us. The second floor is where you would check in and deal with your concierge. All the employees made our stay wonderful. We eat breakfast in the restaurant service was excellent. We will definitely return to this hotel
