Excellent remodeled property. Inside parking garage with direct inside access to the Hotel

Loved our stay at the hotel. Only thing missing was a swimming pool.

Parking is a nightmare!

Excellent location on harbor front. Our room had harbor and marina view , which we enjoyed very much. Very clean , parking was great for a small price. friendly staff and bar area was fun for a few drinks.

Great view of the harbour! A little dated but very clean and comfortable. Excellent balcony. Good food on site and the staff were helpful and friendly. The gym was awesome.

Location was great but I needed EV charger and I didn't see one there in the underground parking

The only issue was the parking was half a block up the street but due to construction, was somewhat difficult to get to

The hotel was great, friendly staff, clean room and hotel. Construction on road made access to front entrance difficult. Exit through underground parking wasn’t easy to find and had us going up a smelly elevator to an unsafe area. Loved the room and the Housekeeper was very helpful and kind.

Parking is extra, beware. Ocean view rooms aren’t always ocean view

Fantastic stay for 2 days! Booked a room with harbour view - 9th floor with amazing view of the harbour, boats, planes, ocean, lots to see. Hotel has been updated and room was beautiful, sparkling clean and comfortable. Front desk was welcoming and extremely friendly. Highly recommend the Coast Bastion Hotel!

The rooms were so clean. Beds were comfy. Loved the call after check in to make sure we had everything for our stay. Will definitely recommend and be back! Beautiful ocean view and harbour views!!

The hotel advertised a recent renovation to the rooms and on first entry they are spacious and well appointed. It is unfortunate that after turning the lights on you notice the the housekeeping needs work. All light switches and high touch areas (like door frames, handles etc) were dirty, caked with food and not clean. I would note that this had us pulling apart the bed to check for issues - none found. Very noisy area with lots of homeless/open drug use. The Staff really made the difference. Amrit the manager in the restaurant was outstanding. As was the front desk. Great Team (aside from training need in housekeeping)

The tube was not cleaned lots hair was in the drain. Tissue was almost run out as I checked in. No shower head was provided. Had to call the front desk to get them.

Staff was friendly and helpful, room/bathroom was clean, and nicely decorated.

Great customer service at front desk and the restaurant. Super clean room with a huge tv . Most amazing view of the sunrise in ocean front corner room . We will be staying again but getting the soaker tub option.

The balcony and view is not what is advertised. You can’t step out onto the balcony. Rooms are smaller than average hotel rooms. Bathroom had a damp smell from fan not working. It wasn’t pleasant.

The room was fine, but the pull out bed was ridiculously loud every time someone moved on it.

Good location in Nanaimo if you want to stay downtown. Close to lots of shops and cafes/restaurants, the pier/boardwalk, a few great bars, nightclub or two, and the Old City Quarter. Rooms were very nice and clean. Basic room with everything you need.

Fabulous huge room with harbour view. Very clean with excellent amenities in the room - sofa seating area, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Kettle also on request sent to the room before we got to it after checking in. Very friendly and helpful staff. A wonderful stay.

Nice view of the harbour in Nanaimo. Staff very pleasant. Convenient free parking. Nice enough but HVAC noisy and rooms subject to hall noise.

The view is gorgeous. The air conditioner is inside the room and is noisy at night, so we turned it off.

Our Harbour view room was incredible. 270° of beautiful water and mountain view. Room was updated and comfortable.

Newly renovated but no drawer in room for underwear socks or anything that doesn’t hang in closet

No wifi. Needs wifi for my work and it was problematic and intermittent

Lets start with the check in. Friendly staff greeted us and the pips (Nacho and Pepper). They got us checked in quickly but had time to greet and spoil the dogs with treat bags. The room is beautiful and well appointed. Nice view south over the docks and full advantage of the sunrise. Minnos spoiled us and served the niceat food by servers who know their jobs and obviously enjoy it. All the way around a premium place to stay

Room is nice. Location is amazing, but front desk customer service sucks. Room was not ready at 4pm as per their check-in time, which we can totally understand because it’s a busy time of the year. However, the front desk went straight to defensive mode- no apology, no acknowledgement and no finding way to make customers feel better. Instead, we were told right from the beginning that yes the check-in time says 4pm but it’s not always guaranteed, and that because they have limited premium rooms and people do late checkouts. I spend over 3 months in hotels every year and I can tell this is just unacceptable customer service. No matter what the excuse is to make customers wait, acknowledging that mistake and sending a sincere verbal apology are the basic courtesy. Basic! Not to mention that most hotels will get their rooms ready 1-2 hours before. Again, not the problem itself, but the attitude we received due to this problem.

Staff was efficient and quickly rectified the issue about our room not being ready.

All employees were very friendly and welcoming. Check in was easy, the rooms were clean, and they even called to ask if everything was ok for our stay.

Great view. Customer service is top notch. Val at the check in was extraordinary and the bartender in the lounge was the best. Will stay here again and again!

The entire staff (front desk, restaurant, housekeeping) were aware that we were there for my partner to rest and recover from a light stroke after released from the local hospital. It was my birthday during our stay, and front desk sent up a plate of Nanaimo bars for my bday; the kitchen knew he wasn't eating and made special effort to send up scrambled egg and ice cream for breakfast his first day; housekeeping asked me each day when he would be out for return testing at hospital and cleaned our room while he was gone so she wouldn't disturb his napping. I was stunned by such kind, thoughtful personal attention we received. My partner was able to sleep throughout the day and enjoyed the gorgeous harbor view, watching the seaplanes, water taxis and yachts come and go whenever he awoke. This was a medical emergency/resort recovery experience, and we are deeply grateful for the caring service we received.

Had a absolutely wonderful time at the Coast Bastion! This is a beautiful hotel with the best staff. They knew me by name & made our stay comfortable & lovely. The hotel is beautiful! Rooms are spacious, views of the water are gorgeous, and amazing food & wonderful stores are all within walking distance. We cancelled our car rental because everything was so walkable. I can't wait to stay here again!

Staff did what they could to accommodate and didn’t disappoint!

Service Quality needs to improve. 1) The room was not cleaned at all when I checked-in and entered the room the first time. Used towels, garbage, messy bed, etc. 2) The staff at the front desk during check in repeatedly said “hello my flend” to me. Lacked professionalism.

2 days in Nanaimo before transit to Horseshoe Bay. Liked the walking path along the bay. Location is very good. Close to dining options.

Okay, close to ferry, easy walk to shops, bit of a conference hotel.

Great location, clean, roomy, quiet.

The room, with a partial view, actually has a substantial view. The staff was excellent and the breakfast room is light and airy. The hotel is located a one minute walk from the Port Theatre, where we had tickets for a concert. All in all, a top choice for hotel.

The hotel is perfectly located in downtown Nanaimo and has been recently refurbished. Froendly staff and easy to get checked in and parked.

We enjoyed our stay at this property and the partial harbour view. However, the construction and noise of the area wasn’t ideal. Overall, it’s a great hotel and probably one of the better options around. Once the construction is done it will be a prime location

Check in was fast and efficient with great directions for parking. Room was excellent! New LVP flooring with beautiful decor. Microwave and fridge and coffee maker. Beautiful view of the harbour with sliding door and small balcony. We ate at the restaurant at the hotel minoz and LOVED the food! Everything was great and the location was excellent. Close to harbour and parks.

So overall great experience but with a couple hiccups. Rooms are spacious and well maintained 1) room service just used the same sheets again 2) saw mice in the restaurant at night time. They said it was due to construction in the neighborhood

The reviews I read prior to booking this hotel did not disappoint. What a truly great hotel experience! The service and staff was top notch: genuinely friendly, helpful, kind, welcoming, and even fun to interact with! The restaurant in the hotel, Minnoz, had a great menu selection. We had breakfast there and it was so delicious and the service was excellent! We regretted not going there for dinner the night prior but we will next time we stay there! The renovations to the hotel are very nice and modern and we so appreciated it. Everything was clean and well prepared for us when we arrived. The air conditioning was easy to operate and worked flawlessly, as did everything else in the room like the TV, plugs, lights, coffeemaker, etc. The size of the room was so generous too which was really nice; felt like we were staying in more of a condo than a hotel room because of the layout. Bathroom lighting was great, and we loved how the shampoo/conditioner and soap and lotion was all in regular pump containers, not little plastic pouches that are hard to open, messy and never contain enough product. The only thing we didn't personally like was the firmness of the beds: they are definitely a true firm. However, that is a subjective thing and everyone prefers a different firmness level in their mattress, so we are taking no stars off for that! The location is central to a lot of restaurants and right across the street from the harbour, which is so nice. We would come back for sure!

The location is excellent. Close to the water, close to the ferry to Gabriola Island and minutes away from the ferry to the mainland. The restaurant was very good. The only negative is that the air conditioning unit was very loud.
