Property was recently reno’d and very clean. It would have been nice to have a hot tub or sauna. Breakfast was mediocre and could have been better with more selection. Otherwise very happy due to it’s cleanliness. Bed was very comfortable.

Everything was great at this Best Western. The rooms were clean and updated with comfortable beds and staff were helpful and responsive. The breakfast was fantastic with high quality hot items, better than expected. Having an indoor pool would have been nice.

Friendly staff, clean rooms and nice fitness facility. I left something in my room and was able to come back in a couple of days to collect it. My room was also upgraded which was a pleasant surprise.

Really didnt like went out for the day.Here for soccer tournament our room wasnt made up came back garbages were still full beds not made keys to room not working.I should'nt have to ask to get my room cleaned.

During the clerks taking my reservation, she mentioned that she can take and inform the maids to do daily room service while we stayed there. Unfortunately on the last full day we were there, there was no room service, beds not made and no fresh towels. When we got back to the room late in the afternoon, I noticed this and phoned the front desk. She brought clean towels for us and apologized that the room was not done. I don't know what happened but the front desk knew how long we were staying and did not ask on the last day if I wanted room service? It was only the one day, so I think the room should of been made up each day.

Both beds were very uncomfortable - mattresses squeaked every time I moved on them, and were saggy in the middle. In addition, there were silverfish coming into the tub via the drain, and the sheets/pillowcases had stains on them upon arrival.

The beds were extremely soft, clean, and comfortable. The room we stayed in was very quiet, and didn't have very much "hum" of electronics that a lot of other hotels have. The hot breakfast was *excellent* and very accomodating for gluten-free options. The coffee was fairtrade organic coffee and delicious. And every member of the staff we interacted with was professional and friendly. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The hotel was well cleaned and near lots of retail stores and restaurants however, if you are looking to rest well or you are a light sleeper (at all) i would not recommend. The walls are very thin and the doors do not block any sound or light. I could hear anything happening in the hallway

This is a good property, staff really friendly and helpful, hotel is very clean. It is located on the outskirts of Nanaimo but is near all of the retail parks so plenty accessible. The only thing you could really call out about this is that the decor is a bit dated but this shouldn’t put you off. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with two doubles and a sofa bed. The sofa bed is probably getting to a point where it could do with replacing as springs starting to go but this might just be the one in the room we stayed in and far from really being an issue.

We arrived about two hours early and were informed that we could pay $35 to check in early. I understand if there are no rooms available but if there are rooms, why charge someone already paying a full rate to access a room that’s sitting idle? Our hotel in Victoria happily gave us access a few hours early with no charge, since the room was ready.

Dated property next to a shady strip mall! The young woman who checked me was pleasant. Mentioned that I need to change my ferry back to Vancouver for my flight the next day - cutting my reservation short. She tells me to contact Hotels.com. I paid the property, so when I contact Hotels.com, I'm told to work it out with the property. The man who answered the front desk phone the next day was incredibly rude and indifferent. Not going back anytime soon.

We appreciated how helpful the staff is and they really helped us figure out our accommodations while staying on the island for a wedding. The rooms are nice and clean! The free breakfast is wonderful and well stocked. Dane at the front desk helped my husband and my father-in-law with their ties!

My ferry was so delayed that I stayed the night. The manager was kind enough to wave the damage deposit when all my cards declined as he could see how tired I was. The staff at breakfast provided me with to go containers so I could take some with me and opened doors for me. Was very impressed with the service!

Room was fantastic - separate room with spa bath. Hotel is tastefully decorated and relatively new. Check in staff member was brilliant, staff were a little aloof after that (although breakfast staff worked very hard). Breakfast was good although a little chaotic when busy. Location is ideal for shopping/eating options but quite inaugural. Very near motorway. Highly recommended for a stopover option.

Our stay was quick, it was a stopping point on our travels to get to the ferry early the next morning. It was clean and easy to get to. Close to restaurants and any other shopping. Off the highway and in a plaza. People may find noise, that would be the only issue as it is close to the highway but not really an issue for our immediate needs. We had a small balcony which was nice to sit out in the fresh air and allow air into the room. Breakfast is available but we left to early to try.

Liked everything about the facility but the lack of signage and directions once we got off the highway. It was dark and raining and it was very difficult to find the entrance to the hotel. We found the entrance by accident.

I had a great stay at Best Western Northgate. The location is excellent, close to shopping, restaurants, and easy access to major routes. The hotel itself is modern, very clean, and well-maintained. Really good hotel with good breakfasts. Hotel is ideally situated for eating, drinking options and access to motorway but the location is a little industrial. Check in staff were brilliant but the rest of the staff were a little aloof after that. Breakfast was good but a little chaotic if busy. If you are looking for a comfortable stopover when travelling then this is an excellent option.

Food sucked, not much available. Hair in pastries, eggs were watery, went to get breakfast right away and nothing there. Pull out bed was uncomfortable and lumpy. No airflow or A/C in the suites bedroom. Key card malfunctioning. Couldnt turn off the fan in the bathroom, which did not help anyone sleep. Kids with support needs couldbt use the bathroom without headphones to block the fan sounds.
