Departure Bay Motel

Customer service was great. The staff members were friendly, informative and professional. Cleanliness was average, could have done a better job cleaning the soap scum in the shower, the bathroom sink and kitchen sink needed a better clean as well and the cupboard under the sink had a dish rack that when i went to pull out to use water got everywhere because it was never emptied out and cleaned before. Everything else was great thougn. They have laundry sevice there as well. Overall a safe, clean place to stay.

There should be a designated time for laundry. I was about to sleep past 10pm and someone just did laundry and I can hear the noise coming of it. There's a bit smell in the room too. I had to buy air freshener for that. Overall, a decent stay.

We only stayed here to sleep before an early morning ferry. Totally adequate for that purpose. Room had everything we needed. Lots of parking. Noisy due to location, ear plugs would be a good idea. Very friendly front office staff.

The bed was very noisy and uncomfortable and felt like it was going to break. The parking was limited and ppl parked in the middle of the lot

A good overnight stay. No issues. Reasonable price and pet friendly was important. Clean and quiet. Got the manager, Eshaan Dhanani for check in and was very impressed with the customer service and help. Would stay there again.

The motel is older but very clean and comfortable. It would be nice to have air conditioning though. Parking is also a challenge for the larger vehicles.

Fine for a quick overnight. Good bed, big room. Kinda noisy and not in the best shape (water stains on roof, some grime in shower). Appreciated that they accept pets for a fee.

I got in late and was able to check in. However I found my room was occupied by spiders. So if you are arachnophobic then this place may not be a good match. Floors were also not that clean so wear slippers around the room.

We are AARP members who booked two pre-paid nights through the Expedia-AARP website but only stayed one due to the appalling conditions in the room. Surfaces were dirty, obviously not having been cleaned in a long time. Dust, dirt, hair, and food were in and around the coffee pot and microwave. The coffee pot had dirt and mold in the water tank. The carpet and bed mattresses had dirt and liquid stains, along with patches of black mold. Ceiling tiles were stained and hung loose from water damage. We reported our findings and discomfort the next morning when we checked out. We also asked for a refund for the second night. After two calls to the motel and one call to AARP, we still don’t have a satisfactory answer on if or how to get our second night’s money back. The motel simply refuses to refund anything because we did not cancel 24 hours prior. Nor have we found any way to give feedback on the Expedia-AARP website. As we loaded our luggage into our vehicle, we saw a truck drive out of the motel parking lot carrying six mattresses covered in black mold. It seems our room may not have been an outlier.

Nice staff with hospitality Room has strong odour of cigarette and sweat odour everywhere. Found Bubble gum under the bed. I don’t recommend this place as they don’t know how to clean properly.

The beds and pillows were comfy but I will not be back because the sheets were stained and wrinkled on both beds and there was dirt on the one sheet. The bed skirts were absolutely filthy and clearly haven't been changed and washed in a very long time..I don't even want to know what some of the unwashed stains were! Also, the laminate in the bathroom is falling apart because it was installed incorrectly Wood Laminate shouldn't be used in a bathroom in the first place, it won't hold up to the moisture.

The room smelled like a wet dog. There were latge water stains and possible mold on ceiling tiles above the bed. Found blood drops and hair on bathroom floor. Both the tub and bathroom sink had rust and visible mold. The cost of this room was $221, outrageous cost for such poor conditions

Way too expensive for the condition. Dirty, stains everywhere, actually disgusting.

Spotless room - fantastic front desk staff

This motel was totally and spotlessly clean. It’s location was very close to the ferry terminal.

Very clean!! Room was on the smaller side with 2 queen beds that were very comfortable. We didn’t spend much time in the room. Only there to sleep. Was very quiet. Property was very clean and well kept. My only suggestion would be to shorten the curtains so they don’t block the AC.

A little bit noisy

Checked in and told we had a newly renovated room. The room was fine but there was no air conditioning. It was extremely warm yesterday and only had a fan to keep us cool. Keeping the windows open was not an option as there was a lot of noise from the main road. The bed was very uncomfortable and we got little sleep. For the price, I would recommend staying elsewhere.

Understanding the outside light of the rooms is security but need either thicker darker curtains or have dark blinds as you can still see the actual light fixture from out the window when trying to sleep. Thank you.

Nice little Motel. Very centrally located. Walking distance from the Ferry terminal. The room was clean. The aircon was rather small and had to work overtime to keep things cool in mid summer heat. Could never get the TV to work.

Our stay was very convenient to the ferries at departure Bay, which is why we pick this hotel. Unfortunately, the people above us were very loud, moving furniture,heard them walking thumping on the floor etc., which was annoying for us underneath them. The road noise was also a bit noisy. I had a difficult time sleeping.

Our ferry was delayed resulting in us arriving in the wee hours of the morning. I was worried since check in closed at midnight. I called ahead and they offered to get up to let us in. Staff was very friendly and accommodating . It was such a relief to find affordable, safe , and comfortable accommodation so close to the ferry terminal! Wonderful hospitality!

Amazing front desk staff. Very welcoming, friendly and efficient. Rooms are worn due to age but exceptionally clean.

Easy to get off ferry and walk up hill to Motel. Comfortable beds and clean. Great place to stay for a night when taking the ferry.
