Lovely hotel, comfortable beds, staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was buffet style and one of the nicest buffet breakfasts we have had, with a very good range of options. We also used the pool, poolside jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There are towels in the spa area for you to use and shampoo, conditioner and shower wash in the changing room showers. There are also lockers which you use a PIN code to lock, so no change needed. We walked into Oxford along the Thames river path and enjoyed not being right in the centre. It took us around 15 minutes to get into Oxford and probably only 10 minutes to get the Christ College from the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and the hotel had everything we needed, as well as enabling us to relax after a long day of sightseeing. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

A very comfortable hotel with excellent staff set in attractive grounds close to the Thames. Plenty of parking, if expensive, but this is Oxford of course. The food is very good and available all day. The coffee table in our bedroom showed a bit of wear and tear and there were many doorways where the frames had been damaged then carefully painted over without repairing the wood. Probably only noticeable to a perfectionist! Two electric car chargers were also a reason for choosing the hotel. More would be welcome since cars take all night to charge on these and EVs are much more common now.

Good property. Most of the staff is very accommodating. There are no washers and dryers on the property and the dry cleaning service is very expensive. The gym is small but functional. There are no windows around the indoor pool so the smell of chlorine is intense. The waiters at dinner took a while to bring our food, so the food wasn’t very warm when we got it. Otherwise the food itself was delicious but kind of cold.

Your EV charging is so bad - just plug sockets. I had anticipated being able to charge my car overnight and leave with 100% in the morning. I had brought my charging tether but did not expect a 3 pin socket - why would I - you are a big hotel. I was directed to the park and ride up the road which meant i got up earlier than planned, had to leave and miss breakfast!

Modern, elegant hotel with good facilities including a pool, a good restaurant and a bar. Peaceful location with large grounds backing onto a riverside walk. Central Oxford with its colleges, museums, shops and restaurants is a short walk away. Plenty of parking (payable) including EV charge points. Staff are great - particular mention to Mali, Dina and Kashish who went the extra mile.

A nice relaxing stay. Good choices for breakfast. Very comfortable bed and linen lovely and clean room too, with great facilities , iron, ironing board. Full tea and coffee making facilities and water available in room. Would have appreciated a mirror on the desk/ dressing table. Used the pool etc. changing rooms were not as clean as I would have hoped. But would most definitely return to The Spires! Well placed out of the city centre, set back from the road, handy for the river and very walkable into the city.

We booked a last minute stay at this hotel and we are really glad we did. The staff were all absolutely amazing, they really made the stay. Everyone was helpful, friendly and polite. The rooms were great- large, comfortable and quiet. We ate at the hotel restaurant which was nice but a bit pricey. However the breakfast is great value for money and there’s a great choice at the buffet. The location is also a highlight- central Oxford is a ten minute walk away and is reached by a very pleasant stroll along the Thames. On a (very slight) negative note: I thought it was a little bit off to charge £20 for parking; and the pool was a bit crowded with nowhere to relax properly. Overall though it was a brilliant stay and I’d recommend this place to anyone.

Very clean, calm and comfortable throughout the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious and a high decorative order. An excellent selection and good quality of food at breakfast. The waiting service was swift and discrete. Lots of parking and a 15 minute walk into the centre of Oxford.

The staff were great especially Mali in the restaurant. I was charged for parking when I should not have been but was refunded without fuss. The bathroom in my room did smell of mildew but everything was clean and the bed was very comfy. Within easy walking distance of the town centre along the Thames tow path. Lovely

This was a very nice hotel. The rooms were a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was very good. The centre of Oxford was only a very nice 15-20 minutes walk by the riverside.

We booked be ause this hotel has air conditioning and the weather forecast looked like we might need it. AC is not readily avaliable in UK. Was disappointed that the staff said they would help with arranging transportation to Heathrow ( in email correspondence) and then when we asked at the desk, they told us to do it ourselves! And our second request ( for a late check out of 12:45) was denied. They said the best they could offer was 12:00. We ended up checking out at 11 and leaving our bags with them until 12:45. The hotel was also ill informed about taking a taxi to Heathrow. The taxi ( which took us to the bus depot) could have taken us directly for much less than the hotel quoted us. Disappointing. Also, the service to our room was below expectations. While fresh towels were provided, the damp ones were left behind. No facecloths. Tissues were not replenished. The decorative elemants of the beddings were not placed on the bed but left on a chair. The beds themselves were far too soft and lumpy. We asked for the toppers to be removed as we thought that might be the issue. No. The bed themselves were lumpy and soft.

Large bedroom and bathroom. Everything was clean and well maintained. Only downside was that I’d hoped to book a massage in the spa whilst my husband was in a meeting, but when I rang to book before arriving, I was told it was closed on Mondays. When I mentioned it at checkout, I was told it was open!

Very comfortable bed! Friendly and polite staff. Excellent drinks from the bar and great location. The corridors need updating as they are very old fashioned compared to reception and rooms. Room wasn’t very soundproof and the shower pressure was poor. Overall a nice stay but slightly pricey for the standard.

Staff were nice and friendly. The property was old. We were given a room that was not accessible by elevator and we had to carry suitcases up the stairs. The room was dated (particularly the bathroom). The beds were not comfortable. I would not rate it as a four star property based on North American standards. The view from the room was great.

Hotel was ok. But be very careful that after you pay your bill and checkout that they have cancelled any hold on your credit card. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time trying to find out why the balance is mysteriously too high on your credit. Trying to resolve with hotel was painful. Ruin memories of the hotel

Booked one hour before arrival. The staff was GREAT and gave excellent service. Service was above and beyound. Room was big and quiet. Breakfeast was ok but could have been a lot better. A little walk (10min?) to center so if I stay only for a day I would book somewhere closer.

Had to get 2 rooms, but only used one as traveled with family of 3 small kids. The rooms were on different floors and not connected, so did not have use for one of the rooms although we had to pay for it. Location was ok, not in the center but walkable. Might consider staying here again in the future, but with some reservations.

This is one of the best stays we have enjoyed in a hotel. Everything was amazing and we felt so relaxed. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. We had intended to eat out but ended up enjoying our meals in the hotel. It is exceptionally clean and well presented with attention to detail. The riverside walk into Oxford is a bonus. Great hotel for any stay in Oxford. We came for a long weekend over and just wanted to explore the city centre area and relax. We especially enjoyed breakfast, wish there was a vegetarian meat option but wasn’t a huge deal as there’s so many other options. The staff/ service was really good. We had treatments and used the pool & jacuzzi which were great and easy to use - just wish that the changing areas/ showers were cleaner. We had dinner one day at Deacons and the staff were great but the food was expensive for what it was, I’d pass and go to the city centre instead next time. It was easy to take the buses into the city or just walk, took around 15 minutes and it would be lovely in the summer. Overall, would definitely visit again and recommend to others! Thanks to the whole team for looking after us so well.

We stayed at the Spires for three nights as it is the perfect 5 Star Oxford Hotel from which to explore the city and countryside. The staff are friendly, professional and eager to make sure you are having a comfortable stay. The breakfast buffet is excellent & the food in the other restaurants are delicious. We would definitely return to the Spires.
