We stayed at Melia Puerto Vallarta for a week with our three children and had an amazing experience. Overall, we found the resort to be clean and well maintained, and we were surrounded by and friendly and professional staff. The pool was fantastic, and we were able to find shaded seating most days. There were always poolside activities going on and having pool toys available was a bonus. If you are there for more than a day, you may see a couple of iguanas poolside! The beach just off the resort was well maintained and allowed us to build sandcastles, boogieboard, kayak and ride the waves. The location was also great for shell hunting and even a bit of whale watching if you are lucky. Activities around the resort were also plentiful and included minigolf, a batting cage, dance lessons, a great kids club, billiards, ping pong, foosball, and archery (shoutout to Leo Leon for running this). There were also nightly shows with mariachis, magicians and pirates that kept us entertained. The main highlight of the resort was the food. The main buffet was on a rotating schedule that offered a variety of delicious meals to choose from, so we never got bored. We were able to go to both the al a carte restaurants and they were a nice change in menu and atmosphere. There was one small water issue within our room that led to us moving down the hall to another room, but the staff dealt with it quickly. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we would happily visit again.

The resort has everything. Delicious dining options. Beach access with lounge chairs, and umbrellas. A very relaxing spa if you decide to use their services. Pros: great drinks, staff was all very helpful and friendly. Our flight was in the evening so the resort allowed us to stay after checkout time and still enjoy drinks, food and use pool towels until it was time to go. Cons: no internet in the room, only in the lobby. Pool was way too cold. No hot tubs. Beach was small and rocky but typical of the area. Would have enjoyed more food selection in the buffet.

The resort is lovely, and the staff is awesome. Would have liked to have more than two restaurants and a heated pool. The shower is not a walk in but has a tub which makes it a little difficult for us older folks. The spa area was very unique and quite a delightful experience. They offer quite a lot of activities, archery, shooting, a mini golf, pool tables, game tables, tennis, kayaking. Great resort!

The Melia is a nice resort with friendly staff and some nice amenities. Pros: - Nice pool - Lots of activities for both adults and kids - Entertaining stage shows for the whole family in the evening. - Good buffet with a nice variety of dishes - Soft serve ice cream available in the buffet - Good drinks - Mamny iguanas and turtles for the kids to see and enjoy. Cons: - Family room beginning to show its age. No electrical outlets by the beds. Only outlet (other one in the bathroom) is poorly located in the hallway near the floor. Bunk bed ladder swings when the kids climb it (i.e. a safety hazard). Some of the cupboard doors are extremely squeaky (i.e. highly annoying). The kids complained that the bunk beds were squeaky as well. Not enough warm blankets for the kids. Really enjoyed our stay here. Family orientated so it didn’t get super rowdy. We came here a week after spring break so there wasn’t a lot of people. Spa experience was ok, felt she was out of practice or didn’t have enough training. Room did have a slight sewer smell, but left after leaving the window open for a few minutes. Pool was small and had some leaves. Can’t imagine how crowded it would be during peak seasons. Rented out the “Bali bed” and seemed to be given a different set up which felt ‘cheap’ and ‘unimportant’. Jose was great and attentive during our time in the Bali beds. Food was ok, had themed dinner nights so there was variety every night. Every type of chicken seemed to be dry but they made the juiciest pork we’ve ever had. Great open space in the lobby. Everyday had different pool side activities. Drinks were very strong. No issues with watering down. Staff were helpful and attentive. Albeit on the older side so they didn’t “get wild” (which was perfect for our stay). Common area was clean and tidy. If your flight is later in the evening, they provide a complimentary 45 min “hospitality room” equipped with a shower. Must reserve. Had a mini farmers market every night during dinner. Hotel is very close to the marina (about a 2 min walk) which is great for Thursday’s as there’s a very large farmers market on the marina.

The pool area and pool need repairs and cleaning. I know this was not an adults only resort, adults could barely get to the swim up bar because children were sitting on the stools around the bar, not something I have experienced at other resorts. Staff was amazing and always helpful!

Todo estuvo excelente. El único detalle es que el elevador no estuvo al 100. En el edificio solo funcionaba 1 de los 2 y los botones en algunos pisos no marcaban bajada. Pero la atención del personal fue muchísimo más de lo esperado. Todo excelente!

Children need a designated area, they should not be allowed at the swim up bar. Food at the outside grill needs to be covered , birds were getting in the food. We had dinner our last night at the seafood restaurant and their were tons of sand fleas that it made the dinner not enjoyable. Our room smelled moldy and musty, we had to keep the bathroom fan on all day and night to keep the smell down. The pool walls smelled like urine and were dirty. I will not be returning to this resort!

Room 0 star Resort & food 3/4 star Staff/Expedia 5 star Rooms are an absolute dump. They are dirty and run down. My first room smelled like sewage coming from the bathroom and the stench was so bad it woke me up in the middle of the night. I couldn’t get back to sleep bc the smell was so strong and it made the room musty. When I called in the morning, they sent somebody with a bottle of deodorizer and they dumped it into the drain in the bathroom and then he sprayed the entire bathroom with the deodorizer. By doing this it now made my room smell like chemicals and sewage. They finally moved me to another room, but this room was so dirty. When I turned on the shower, the water was pulling in the tub with a yellowish brown. When I turned on the faucet, it spit out a bunch of black chunks every time I turned on the faucet. If you are a family with kids, this is a great place because then the kids can tear up the room and they don’t even care. This resort is more for families with young kids and 65 and over so if you’re somewhere in between I do not recommend staying here whatsoever. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Surprisingly the food was actually pretty decent. The resort is pretty, but it definitely needs an upgrade. They shut off the water in the middle of the day without telling anybody because there was a leak that they had to fix. Location is great and the brand Melia used to be a respected brand but not so much. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Worst stay ever room was not a family suite extremely tiny there was no towels no toilet paper. The description also stated there was a mini bar. There was only two waters one beer and two sodas during the night there was a strong smell of sewer coming from the bathroom drain we had to put towels at the bottom of the door to keep the smell out of the room. The food lacked flavor and the customer service was extremely bad. When we were checking out they attempted to charge us for pool towels when we told them that they were in the room they made me go retrieve them instead of sending a hotel employee to check. Would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

Meliá is amazing! Our family of 11 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent, especially Juan in the buffet and Javier at Guest Services. The food selections were amazing and we really enjoyed the extra restaurants Mole and the Fish House. We kayaked and paddleboarded and spent lots of time at the pool. The only things I would say are slight negatives are the ocean had red algae some days and we could not swim and it wasn’t very clear water. If you want crystal clear beach water, this isn’t the resort to stay at. The rooms are dated but very clean and the cleaning staff came everyday to freshen up, leaving the kids treats. I would highly recommend Melia as a family friendly resort. My kids are already talking about what they want to do next time we are back there!

Overall our stay was great! The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, especially at the restaurant and bars. The property is beautiful, and the food was ok- there’s a good variety in the buffet with separate stations at every meal. The rooms however are due for some general maintenance and upkeep… our shower felt like a death trap turning the water on and being shot in the face and the tub didn’t drain properly (at all) but we truly have no real complaints. Definitely a family friendly resort and very quiet in the evenings.. if you’re looking for somewhere to party this isn’t the place! There’s nightly entertainment but not much happening past 10pm otherwise.

The resort grounds were beautifully maintained. Our room was clean although a little dated. Front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were very nice, but bartenders acted inconvenienced every time we asked for a drink. Also the beer and cocktail cups were very small.Food at the resort was good.

We had a good stay but for being a Melia the property was outdated. The pool needs a lot of renovation which for us is important because we spend most of the day outside. The food options were very limited but food was mostly good. Rooms were spacious but A/C was not working well in most of our family members rooms. Bought a fan at walmart. Would probably look for another hotel option next time.

The resort seemed older than it was. The hot water went out quite a bit and the bathroom drains smelled of sulfur. We had a room with a jacuzzi tub but never had enough hot water to use it. The food was average but the staff was very nice.

The hotel is beautiful, albeit a bit outdated, with clean facilities and stunning scenery. The friendly and attentive staff frequently checked on guests, which helped us feel comfortable asking for a bed sheet change after a small accident with our child. The next day, we received fresh sheets without any judgment. We stayed in a Premium Jr Suite with an ocean view, offering gorgeous sunsets and soothing ocean sounds at night. My child loved relaxing in the jacuzzi on the balcony, and we appreciated that the room was always clean, with new towels and a stocked fridge. However, the shower pressure was quite strong, which was uncomfortable especially after a sunburn. In addition the bed was a bit hard and uncomfortable but the pillows saved my night. The acclimated pool had shaded areas it was large yet perfect for a toddler to walk. The drinks were light despite having access to premium options. The beach was beautiful, especially in the mornings when the tide was calmer you could appreciate the clear waters. Perfect for children as well I rated the hotel 4/5 because the food was average. The highly praised Mole & Tacos were disappointing at both dinner & breakfast, while the buffet offered more tasty options. We enjoyed various activities, including a mariachi night for Mother’s Day and a movie night for kids. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the marina and just a 10-minute drive to the airport, making it a family-friendly and safe destination.

A 3.5-star resort with truly 5-star staff — we will absolutely return! We just returned from a wonderful family week at the Melia Puerto Vallarta. There were so many things that made this an amazing vacation, but above all — the staff are exceptional. Hector in Guest Services was very responsive and checked in throughout the week. Eduardo helped with bags, and always had a smile when we passed through the lobby. At check-in Paulina and her manager Guadalupe were amazing. Guadalupe gave me her email if we had any needs. We bought the premium package and would absolutely do so again. The upgraded breakfast options, a la carte access, and top-shelf alcohol made a real difference. We ate breakfast every morning at Mole & Tacos (premium) and were so impressed by Karen. The bar team — poolside and swim-up — learned our preferred drinks (kids and adults) and always greeted us with smiles and “Hola señor… same drinks today?” Two other staff who made our week memorable were Jose and Ramiro who were with the Melia rewards program. We met with Ramiro, and genuinely appreciated that there was no pressure at all — just information. We even met with Ramiro twice more for follow-up questions, and he couldn’t have been more helpful. It’s a great program to check out for regular travellers. Great food (especially at Mole & Tacos and The Fish House), fun entertainment, and a perfect marina location with a great Thursday market nearby. Tons of pool chairs, fun waves at the beach. GREAT!!!

The service was terrible. I even tipped , if you forgot to tip or didn’t leave a dip you will not get any service. To book a dinner is a scam they try selling you a time share type of thing. You have to go to the lobby between the hours you of 9a and 3p to try and book a reservation for one of the restaurants for dinner. We got there right a 9am and they only had a few openings for only 1 restaurant. You willl notice that the dinner restaurants are hardly ever full so i could not understand why they can’t book more reservations. If you eat at the buffet get there early if not the food is bad but get there early the food is fresh and amazing plenty of choices…The hotel room (1115) family suite was very outdated

My family of three stayed at Melia Puerto Vallarta in September 2025 for five nights, and we had such a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, all the staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly throughout our entire stay. For my birthday, we made a reservation at Tauro, their steak restaurant on-site. The food was delicious, but what truly stood out was the amazing service. Our toddler wanted to play outside the restaurant, and the waitress noticed we were struggling to enjoy our meal. She kindly offered to play with him just outside, where we could still see him through the window. Thanks to her kindness, I was able to fully enjoy my birthday dinner—something I’ll never forget. There are so many fun activities for kids, including a playground that my son loved. It’s definitely a great resort for families, with plenty of amenities for children. On top of that, the staff went above and beyond on my birthday by decorating our room with balloons and surprising us with dessert. I felt so special and appreciated. I highly recommend Melia Puerto Vallarta, especially for families looking for both relaxation and kid-friendly fun.

Overall I was pleasantly impressed with the layout of the hotel. Big lobby with of seating, however I feel like they didn’t have many options to eat for breakfast, especially for kids. The premium restaurant was good but they asked us if we wanted wine then they told us be additional charge and when we said no their attitude change. Also they tried to convince us to go to their club melia presentation, we said no but everyday we would see the lady she would try to ask us we had changed our mind. The location is good, felt safe and you can walk to shops at the marina with plenty of options to eat around the marina.

Love how centrally located the hotel was. The staff was extremely, friendly and helpful. While my group ran into some issues around the facility, the staff helped us right away and checked in with us. There was only one aspect of the hotel that I did not like and that was the dinner reservation requirements. I might have missed this information when first booking since I didn’t become aware of it until we arrived.

Excellent service all around. Check-in staff were professional and friendly. The waiters, bartenders, and house keeping staff were courteous and attentive. Manager Hector Carrillo truly makes you feel welcomed.. I will be back and highly recommend this resort

Meliá is amazing! Our family of 11 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent, especially Juan in the buffet and Javier at Guest Services. The food selections were amazing and we really enjoyed the extra restaurants Mole and the Fish House. We kayaked and paddleboarded and spent lots of time at the pool. The only things I would say are slight negatives are the ocean had red algae some days and we could not swim and it wasn’t very clear water. If you want crystal clear beach water, this isn’t the resort to stay at. The rooms are dated but very clean and the cleaning staff came everyday to freshen up, leaving the kids treats. I would highly recommend Melia as a family friendly resort. My kids are already talking about what they want to do next time we are back there!

Sure, this property is a bit older, but the staff, service, and food make up for it. Couple of issues with the showers but the team at Melia was quick to try and fix it. And when they couldn't quite get the shower working properly, they switched us to a new room. The resort only has two a la carte restaurants, and could use a proper sports bar to compete with some of the other resorts, but like I said, the quality food and service was amazing. Friendly and efficient. Would go back - you get what you pay for so if you have higher expectations, pay for a 5 star. 5 minute walk to the Marina which has a ton of bars and restaurants, and a $10 Uber ride to the Malecon, $15 to Zona Romantica.

The Meliá was beautiful! The grounds were the best I’ve seen, with many ponds and water features, so stunning! The staff was friendly and helpful! The spa was wonderful! The food was really good! I’ve seen better beaches, the river was washing in some murky water so it wasn’t clear all day, and the seating by the beach was very hot! Maybe some trees? It wasn’t very stroller friendly, we had to carry it up and down stairs alot. Overall, would stay again!

This property was very easy to get to, the service was great, the people at the resort were caring welcoming and kind. Our family had lots to do and were able to relax as well. The pool is fantastic the beach is a bit small but it’s all you need. Lots of chairs for sitting out. Proximity to marina is excellent and cheap price for taxi to get to main town. Very few line lines or waiting for checking out, drinks, check in and food. The hotel was full but still lots of room to move around and never felt busy or cramped. Highly recommend this hotel!

We had a wonderful time at the Melia all inclusive hotel. Comfortable room with a beautiful view of the garden beach, and city beyond, we enjoyed the attention to detail by the staff. The grounds are expansive and lush with greenery. Dining was delicious and varied., with a number of options available. The hotel itself is in a great location, just minutes from the airport and a very short walk to the Marina and numerous shopping and restaurants. Above all the staff was very friendly and generous, particularly in terms of dining and childcare. We have a 13-month old and the staff was very accommodating and flexible in terms of assisting and looking after our daughter. 10/10 and we hope to return for another tropical family getaway soon!

The property is in need of a “facelift” The pool is very large but was missing tiles in many places. I noticed many edges that looked broken and sloppily repaired. The Fush House was top notch. We ate there twice and both times the food was excellent. The Mole and Taco eatery was also good, especially for breakfast. Most of the staff were friendly and accommodating. We especially liked Robson, a server at the Mole and Tacos restaurant. He always had a smile and gave great service. Overall, we would visit this resort again.

Rooms are out dated, very minimal dining options and no good food. Can’t believe Expedia sells this place. You have to make reservations at restaurants by the way there’s only 2 and give useless vouchers. Horrible food and rooms.

The property is lovely and the staff are always cleaning and maintaining it. However, you need to book the al a cart restaurants . They take very few reservations due to lack of staff. This was very disappointing. They only have Chardonnay white wine and only one red . If you wanted a different kind you had to pay for it. If you wanted certain drinks you had to pay. They called it the upsell. Even at the restaurants they had certain items that you had to pay extra for. We had premium accommodations but there still was the upselling. Would not stay again because it’s not really all inclusive and we have stayed at a lot of them. Alberto, the concierge for us was amazing and it was only because of him that we got into the restaurants more than once.

We traveled with a group of 27 in Mid-March and had a great time. The resort is well maintained and is generally beautiful. We really liked the lunch option of burgers and hotdogs because it was so easy with a large group. We agreed that overall the food was good but not great. Getting reservations at the restaurants was difficult and annoying. Bar service wasn't always timely and they ran out of Tecata Light multiple times during our stay. Joel was a great server around the pool, however. He and other servers worked their butts off because of a lack of service staff (in my opinion). If you are looking for a solid resort with no frills but no real downside, don't be afraid to visit this place. I'd go back if the price was right again.

The hotel is beautiful, albeit a bit outdated, with clean facilities and stunning scenery. The friendly and attentive staff frequently checked on guests, which helped us feel comfortable asking for a bed sheet change after a small accident with our child. The next day, we received fresh sheets without any judgment. We stayed in a Premium Jr Suite with an ocean view, offering gorgeous sunsets and soothing ocean sounds at night. My child loved relaxing in the jacuzzi on the balcony, and we appreciated that the room was always clean, with new towels and a stocked fridge. However, the shower pressure was quite strong, which was uncomfortable especially after a sunburn. In addition the bed was a bit hard and uncomfortable but the pillows saved my night. The acclimated pool had shaded areas it was large yet perfect for a toddler to walk. The drinks were light despite having access to premium options. The beach was beautiful, especially in the mornings when the tide was calmer you could appreciate the clear waters. Perfect for children as well I rated the hotel 4/5 because the food was average. The highly praised Mole & Tacos were disappointing at both dinner & breakfast, while the buffet offered more tasty options. We enjoyed various activities, including a mariachi night for Mother’s Day and a movie night for kids. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the marina and just a 10-minute drive to the airport, making it a family-friendly and safe destination.

The staff were friendly and helpful. However, the buffet food was ok and that was the only place to dine. We were able to eat at the other two restaurants but you had to make a reservation and we did dine there twice but we were there for 4 nights. The rooms need new beds, pillows and sheets. Also, fans in the rooms, it gets hot and a fan would help.

Love how centrally located the hotel was. The staff was extremely, friendly and helpful. While my group ran into some issues around the facility, the staff helped us right away and checked in with us. There was only one aspect of the hotel that I did not like and that was the dinner reservation requirements. I might have missed this information when first booking since I didn’t become aware of it until we arrived.

The staff is amazing and very helpful. The pool area needs some maintenance. I think there need to be some more explanation of procedure prior to arrival so we can be better prepared. When we areived they requested names be assigned to each room, this could have been done ahead of time. They requested an ID for each person inclunding the children. They asked for curp numbers for Mexican citizens and passports for each adult, they copied these documents. It took 45 minutes for us to check into 3 rooms. I feel all this could have been done ahead of time. The food was good, the rooms very clean and the staff was very nice. The spa was definitely different then any spa I have ever been to. No a lot of privacy so just be aware. Overall we had a good stay.
