The fountains weren’t working for most of our trip. Just disappointing. I kept complaining and was told tomorrow. Ha. It was actually comical. The food was average and seemed there was always room at the specialty restaurants. The drinks were good but the swim up bar was overcrowded a lot. House keeping was good and they kept up on the minibar. The room was excellent, big and the a/c worked flawlessly. Watch out for the sand fleas as they kicked out butts. lol.

The poor areas were inconsistent room service once never showed up another time 1 hour to get 2 glasses of wine. The premium lounge is as best silly it’s a small computer lounge with 6 tables and some food but really doesn’t make sense. The actual only lounge is half way down hall on way to Buffett.They have absolutely beautiful property on water with no water front bar, they should move steak house back to premium lounge and create beautiful water front bar/lounge. We were given room with just about no view so talked to front desk but no upgrade as they were booked. I talked with Expedia and funny we got upgraded? Also property recommended VIP transport which we waited a hour and 10 minutes while other vip clients came out well after us and left, charged us $80 CND where uber was $40 so walk across road and get ride right away. On positive note most staff were ultimately polite and very good(other than one at front desk). The adult pool very nice pool service excellent. The property has immense potential. We made most of stay property but at best a 3 star property.

This is our 3rd time to this resort. The premium experience is worth the upgrade. The staff are friendly and attentive. Beautiful location. The only thing we missed this trip were the waterfalls at the pools. None of them were working

I stayed at the Barcelo from July 1-5th and everything seemed great checking in…Till it wasn’t. Throughout the whole week there was “rolling brownouts” that had the electricity cut off to the room. So in very humid area, no A/C, no way to charge my phone, and no WiFi. Also we noticed a lot of flies coming out from a vent in the closet. Very disgusting and we informed the hotel to have someone clean. And you guessed it, no one came. Would I recommend this hotel? Sure if you’re ok with all that.

Got the premium level package - room was really, nice great views of the ocean, resort was clean. female staff at the premium lounge is very unfriendly. We had upgraded to the premium stay; and she wouldn’t acknowledge me; boyfriend needed up going in to get drinks. It was hard to get drinks around the pool; wasn’t great the swim up bar was only in the kid zone and not one in the adult only pool. Restraunt (buffet) was hit or miss with the staff; multiple times we were there they didn’t even acknowledge us. Oscar (Restraunt, buffet) was amazing he was helpful polite great attitude; more people like him around the resort would have made the trip better. A la carte - food was great staff really friendly. Booking the restaurant was a different sorry, concierge was there from 9 to 5 but they wouldn’t take our booking till the next day even though we’re there at 2pm and said their computers could only book Sunday - Saturday (we arrived on Saturday; so we could not book anything until Sunday.

I thought the towel card was odd. Each guest had to check out one pool towel at a time and someone grabbed one of ours off our chair most likely because they lost theirs. We had to pay $40 at checkout for a ratty towel we didn't take.

Nice location on beach-great views. Unfortunately we all got SICK!!! Lovely setting, beautiful grounds, nice staff, kids loved activities at pools. iguanas swim in the pool! Staff at buffet work hard, especially omelette lady-she was great-always smiled!Our room on 9th floor had great views-the bathroom needs a total Renovation! high quality bedding.Only one elevator working in Tower 1.Had a great massage with Judy. Food is not great here.The food in the specialty restaurants was not good. Very disappointing! We would not pay extra for premium as we feel there is really no benefit.

I have traveled to several all inclusive resorts so this review is not from just one visit. My main gripe about this resort is the pool bar situation. The resort has two pools, a family friendly one and an adults only. The swim up pool bar is located in the family friendly pool, which makes no sense. Per usual, adults do not supervise their children so the swim up bar is EXTREMELY packed with children ordering smoothies, climbing on things, jumping and splashing. We found the adult only pool to be where we belonged however, we had to climb out of the pool, dry off, put on a shirt, and walk to the snack bar bar to grab a drink. The wait staff walking around asking if people in the adult pool want drinks were basically non existent. Another issue we encountered were the conditions of the pool. The resort has several iguanas walking around the premise, this is common. This is the first time we encountered iguana poop floating in the pools. It seems these pools are not maintained properly. The food was a 4/10. The restaurants were mediocre. The buffet was the best option. We also found that the staff was not really willing to accommodate for guests. We asked for a table for 6 near the ocean in both the Buffett and the snack bar and we were told no. The rooms are okay. We had three rooms in our reservation. Two out of the three rooms had shower issues. One room didn’t have hot water, the other didn’t have water at all.

My family and I got several bed bug bites. We were hoping it was just jelly fish stings, but it is not. When we got home and realized it was bed bugs, we called the hotel to look in the beds for bed bugs, but they kept hanging up on us or disconnected the calls. We tried to contact management but he was unavailable. We left a message but no return call. I am posting this in hopes to deter any more customers until they get this situation addressed. We were in room 2917 -all inclusive premium package. This was the worst vacation ever! Now we wait to see if we brought the bugs back in our suitcases and then hire a professional exterminator to eradicate from our homes. Very sad and creeped out. This was the nicest hotel any of us have been in and we paid top dollar. 😢

The property was super clean and the staff worked extremely hard to keep it that way. They even scrub the pool chairs. The room was pretty spacious compared to many resorts I’ve been to. Front desk staff were always very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and how to get around. The baggage concierge staff actively try to help you with directions and information on taxis etc. The entertainers in the evening shows are very talented. Bar staff were always friendly and attentive. Dining staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. Pools were always clean. The beach is scenic but I don’t think I’d swim in it too many boats. However just so happened to be able to baby sea turtles being released. This property is not close to shopping centers but you can take a bus there for less than a dollar. All in all wonderful time. First time at a Barceló resort and I’ll definitely stay at a Barcelo again.

Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The resort staff were very courteous, helpful and always smiling. The amenities were good. We did not use the gym or the adult pool area. Improvements can be made in the cleanliness of the pool areas. We were there for 8 nights and only saw the pool decks cleaned once (the day we left) and there had been vomit between 2 loungers 2 days prior! Which we witnessed a resort employee cleaning it up with rubber gloves on. Also more care to having all guests use hand sanitizer before entering the restaurants and buffet area. 4 out of 6 of our group got sick for 24 hours and we heard from other guests that they also were sick that week! But the cleaning was sub par at best! Food was ok for breakfast in the buffet, but we found lunch selection was not great and dinner buffet could have been better as well. Food was biggest reason it sucked. Buffet was awful. Couldn’t eat at the pool. Also got norovirus and felt public bathrooms weren’t super clean. Also the kids pool area wasn’t ideal, fountain not working and Swim up bar there, not in adult pool, and wish there was a hot tub for kids. But I will say the best part about the resort was the kids club. It was AWESOME. That was a game changer cause kids had a lot of fun there and freed up kid free time. That’s only reason why I’m giving it a three. Also, we got premium but didn’t feel the perks outweighed the cost. Our friends that didn’t get premium got upgraded to a 2 bdrm free of charge when they checked in and that was one main reason we got the premium so was kind of pointless. Just not overly impressed. This resort is a beautiful resort. Rooms are large and wonderful. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Free mini bar was a blessing. Loved the adult swimming pool. The “No-See-Ums” were pretty bad so we all got bad bug bites. Very itchy. Bring afterbite. The view was spectacular from our room. Ocean was great to swim in as well. Food was mediocre, numerous people including my husband got food poisoning. Very far from town so not very conveniently located. But if you are looking for a nice retreat away from everything this is a nice place to go. Staff were so accommodating and friendly. Did not like that you had to make reservations for the Al A Cart restaurants by 9am every morning if you did not want the buffet. You are also limited on number of reservations. I think it is 3 for a 7 day stay. They do have a snack restaurant during the day by adult pool that was pretty good. All in all it is a nice resort and a great holiday place.

The room was spacious and although it is an older resort it is kept clean. We did notice tiny ants in our room. Do not leave any food out. The resort is geared towards Canadians and Europeans. Even though we are in Mexico, the music and entertainment is mainly in English. I enjoy visiting different countries to enjoy the culture (cuisine, music, language, customs, etc). I travel at least twice a year and Mexico is known for the best customer service. I will not be recommending this resort to friends and family. The food was good. I would be cautious with food that has been obviously sitting out all day (snack area at the bar).
The room was spacious and although it is an older resort it is kept clean. We did notice tiny ants in our room. Do not leave any food out. The resort is geared towards Canadians and Europeans. We personally liked that the property wasn’t too big and was very easy to access. The greenery was very nice too. The staff was very helpful and friendly. What we personally didn’t like was what others were saying in their reviews….most notably bed bugs and food poisoning problems. They’re all true! We stayed in room 1601 and our daughters in 1603 and myself and they were getting bitten every night! And it ONLY happened while we were in bed asleep. On the 24th, the day that we checked out and went back home, I got really sick of my stomach. And it wasn’t a direct flight, which made it that much worse to deal with. I went two days before I could eat anything, but I’ll survive. But I do hope that we didn’t bring those nasty insects back home with us. Again, the hotel was nice and so were the staff but they really need to do something about those problems. Until they do, we will not be coming back.

The fountains weren’t working for most of our trip. Just disappointing. I kept complaining and was told tomorrow. Ha. It was actually comical. The food was average and seemed there was always room at the specialty restaurants. The drinks were good but the swim up bar was overcrowded a lot. House keeping was good and they kept up on the minibar. The room was excellent, big and the a/c worked flawlessly. Watch out for the sand fleas as they kicked out butts. lol.

This place was amazing. Rooms were clean and very spacious. Loved the den like area that had a twin day bed with a pullout. There was a coffee maker, a housecoat two pairs of slippers that came in handy. Loved the bathroom with its big shower and the vanity close up mirror with lights.

First, the good: VERY friendly staff! Overall, nice location, plenty of dining options and activities on-site, several pools and hot tubs, decent size rooms (we were in tower 2, 9th floor, premium room). Beautiful sunsets. Now the bad :(.... The facility is severely mismanaged. We faced every kind of issue during our 7 days there. First room we were given smelled heavily of mold - very musty, could not breathe. Had to keep the balcony doors open to get some air while our concierge kept insisting that it's just moisture. (IT was NOT). There was visible mold on walls and baseboards, bathrooms and bedrooms alike, and all around AC ducts. We packed up and protested on the second day and were moved to a different room - much cleaner and mold free. But, the toilets would not flush, water pressure went down to slow drip several times, drapes would not fully close, AC would not cool below 24C regardless of setting. One of two elevators in tower 2 was not working our entire stay, but was fixed during our departure. Whoever designed the elevators was very inconsiderate. They're tiny, about 3'x4', and only fit 4-5 people. With only one working, sometimes the wait was 5+ minutes, and they're outdoors in 94F degrees. No AC nor Fan in the elevators. Stifling and claustrophobic to say the least. We opted to walk 9 stories of stairs up and down several times each day. Also, our entire family got annihilated with mosquito bites. They were everywhere in and outdoors. Food quality was just OK.

This looks way nicer in photos. It wasn't bad, but it was old, there were things that were dirty or needed fixing and paint. Elevators are small and old. Spa and pool was nice. Service was hit or miss. Some were really nice, like in the spa, and at the front desk, but some were not friendly or nice. I would look somewhere else next time.

We had a great 7 night stay at Barcelo in November 2025. Our group of 10 were split into both towers. The standard rooms were larger than we expected and the family suite had two rooms and two bathrooms. We enjoyed the restaurants, but almost preferred the buffet as the options changed daily. The beach was small but beautiful and welcoming. There was so much shade covering the pool which was great for our group as none of us burnt! The staff was probably the best part of the trip! Cesar in the Premium lounge was so welcoming and helpful in whatever we needed (including our daily Spanish lessons), the entire entertainment staff at the pool and evening shows (especially Fernando) kept our group busy, and Gerardo at the pool bar made sure we had a good time! We met some friends from places near and far. The resort is small enough that you feel safe and recognize people throughout your stay. We will be back and can’t wait to see the staff again! <3

Our honest opinion. Our room looked over the party pool and it was very NOISY, even with the windows and doors closed! Super loud music! Also at 7am in the morning the maintenance crew were running loud tree trimming equipment. Hard to enjoy our beautiful deck in the morning with so much noise! I did call the second morning to complain about the noise so early and they did stop the trimming. It took about an 1/2 hour or so but they actually stopped. The hotel has a great location on a beautiful cove and beach with good snorkeling close by! The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and we really enjoyed the adult pool. The food was average all inclusive type. The Italian specialty restaurant was terrible! The a la cart specialty restaurant was excellent. The buffet was acceptable and had some good choices. The pool bar was terrible!! The other bars on the property were good. Overall a better than average all inclusive in a fabulous spot. I would recommend tower one as it has a better sunset view and is much quieter away from the party pool.

The location of this resort is phenomenal. The beach is amazing, great for families and kids. The room sizes are great, especially if you have kids. The resort and rooms are clean but it’s just an older resort so you can expect the usual wear and tear around the resort and rooms. The food and drinks are what to expect for a resort of this caliber, average. The one very negative thing about this resort is all the rules for booking reservations and how outdated the process is. There is no app or online booking system. You have to go to concierge between a certain time and depending if your premium or not you may have limits on booking in advance. If you’re planning to book this resort, please contact a travel agent or the hotel directly, as their “all-inclusive” plan comes with many conditions. I asked for extra bottled water and was only given two bottles. They will only top up, not provide freely like other all-inclusive resorts. The same applies to the minibar service — it wasn’t stocked, and when I called for service, I was told by housekeeping that it had been restocked, which was not true. When I ordered room service and asked to charge it to my room, I was told it wasn’t possible. The front desk should have taken my credit card details at check-in, but they didn’t. I was asked to go down to provide my credit card information instead, as they didn’t accept cash or card payment directly for room service. This resort really nickel-and-dimes guests, even for basic supplies such as bottled water. I had two rooms and paid a good amount of money, but I would not recommend this resort. The property was super clean and the staff worked extremely hard to keep it that way. They even scrub the pool chairs. The room was pretty spacious compared to many resorts I’ve been to. Front desk staff were always very helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area and how to get around. The baggage concierge staff actively try to help you with directions and information on taxis etc. The entertainers in the evening shows are very talented. Bar staff were always friendly and attentive. Dining staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was happy. Pools were always clean. The beach is scenic but I don’t think I’d swim in it too many boats. However just so happened to be able to baby sea turtles being released. This property is not close to shopping centers but you can take a bus there for less than a dollar. All in all wonderful time. First time at a Barceló resort and I’ll definitely stay at a Barcelo again.

Absolutely beautiful resort. I can’t say enough good about the kids club. Anel, Regina , Dafne, Fernando and the rest were so amazing at keeping the kids entertained. They went above & beyond. Loved my upgrade to premium. Rooms are large, clean and beds are comfy. The area is so beautiful and view from the room was incredible. Israel was our favourite in the premium lounge. All the staff were wonderful. Mauricio also deserves recognition as he remembered me everyday and always had time for a few questions and ensuring we were enjoying all the amenities. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The concierge and the lady who books excursions could be more polite and the lady who books excursions could also be more helpful on giving important info. Like bringing drivers license was needed for our excursion we took. Resort was clean. My family enjoyed the stay. Shows were ok. It would be more considerate if they dressed more family friendly. The food was very mediocre.The tacos for lunch were something I enjoyed. Cesar in the premium lounge was great.

I’ve experienced several hotels that’s provide your bracelet as soon as you arrive even though your room isn’t ready, Barcelo made us wait for us to get our bracelet until 3pm when our room was ready. Definitely will not be using them again. Traveling all day and night for us to not be able to enjoy as soon as we get there. Unprofessional!

My family and I stayed here for 6 nights. The staff was very friendly; however, there were many issues that occurred. They say that the ice and water are filtered, but many family members felt sick during our vacation. Perhaps it was the horrible food served in the buffet, snack bar, and specialty restaurants. The drinks were fine, and the pool was nice. There were a few things broken or not working in my or a family member's room. We would call the front desk for water, toilet paper, etc, and sometimes it would never come or we would have to call multiple times. We used the 24-hour room service (you have to pay for it), called and ordered, but the food never came. The only 5 stars I would give would be to the ladies in the spa; the massage was the best part of our vacation. We all were ready to leave when it should have been the opposite.

We loved the jungle scenery in the back ground all around the resort. Beach was nice, but it was small. But we knew that booking the resort. Food was mediocre. The restaurants were nice but the only buffet was limited and not anything to write home about. It says mismaloya is 17km outside of PV which it is but the road is windy so if you’re looking to go into PV a lot it’s quite the drive. Almost an hour to the airport. The swim up bar was in the kids pool for some reason seemed kinda backwards. Overall we had a nice stay but because of location and mediocre food we’ll probably stay back in Bucerias/PV area

Location is far from the main town but the views are well worth it, just be ready for a 30-45 minute uber everywhere else you decide to go It is a beautiful resort, definitely more family oriented. The food at the buffet was a hit or miss. Breakfast was always good but lunch and dinner was always a surprise. As far as the a la carte restaurants go we only got to try two of them and it wasn’t hard making reservations. The Japanese one was terrible but the Spanish one was phenomenal.
Location is far from the main town but the views are well worth it, just be ready for a 30-45 minute uber everywhere else you decide to go It is a beautiful resort, definitely more family oriented. The food at the buffet was a hit or miss. Breakfast was always good but lunch and dinner was always a surprise. As far as the a la carte restaurants go we only got to try two of them and it wasn’t hard making reservations. The Japanese one was terrible but the Spanish one was phenomenal.

They were very clean and a perfect temperature -rooms: we had a premium family room and it was big. The property is older so the rooms are too. Our kid’s shower was broken so they came to fix it right away and then no issues. Bring your own shampoo/conditioner as theirs is watery -premium package: it was worth it just to have better drinks, use of the premium lounge, not worrying about towels, and mostly being able to eat at a la cartes every night (non premium have restricted number of nights) -food: this is where I can’t give 5 stars. Overall we like the hotel, the room were clean and spacious. The location is great, near a small port next to los Arcos. Also close to Yelapa waterfalls, the hotel (Jack Sparrow) offers boat tours to beaches, snorkeling places and Yelapa waterfalls. Easy access and we didn’t have to leave the hotel to take tour. The hotel is located within walking distance of a zoo, which we were able to feed animals like giraffes, moneys, and etc. It was a 15mins hike with great sceneries of the local town and a river. The hotel also offers free kayak at the beach, where we can see the famous los arcos. I used the hotel gym every morning, the staff is super friendly there and it was never busy. My two kids loved the kids club and the Disney show, the entertainment crew were great, offers kayak tours and games. All staffs were super friendly. The Spanish restaurant were my favorite, however I wish the hotel offered longer pool hours.

I like the building itself, it felt like being in Puerto Vallarta. Rooms were clean and staff were super nice. I didn’t like the buffet food choices. Food choices were very little and it was a very small buffet for the people that was there. I also didn’t like the boats parked in front of the beach area. Boats were taking the beauty of the beach. Not returning or recommend.

The location is the highlight of our stay. It is beachfront but I think this is the only hotel that have direct access to this beach so it wasn't crowded and it feels exclusive but it was not. The room was great but it wasn't spotless. Minibar wasn't restocked daily as promised but service was quick when we called. Restaurant service was hit and miss. They mentioned on the website that tips are included but service will improve if you tip extra. Food was okay but lots of selectiona. Overall, we will be back for the price we paid because of its location.

The location of this resort is phenomenal. The beach is amazing, great for families and kids. The room sizes are great, especially if you have kids. The resort and rooms are clean but it’s just an older resort so you can expect the usual wear and tear around the resort and rooms. The food and drinks are what to expect for a resort of this caliber, average. The one very negative thing about this resort is all the rules for booking reservations and how outdated the process is. There is no app or online booking system. You have to go to concierge between a certain time and depending if your premium or not you may have limits on booking in advance. My parents who came with us didn’t even get one reso because they weren’t “premium” so they always missed out on the booking windows for resos.

Room was excellent. Staff was superb. Food was terrible. Buffet food was always cold even when I was first in line to get in. Had been sitting in warming trays too long. Food was biggest reason it sucked. Buffet was awful. Couldn’t eat at the pool. Also got norovirus and felt public bathrooms weren’t super clean. Also the kids pool area wasn’t ideal, fountain not working and Swim up bar there, not in adult pool, and wish there was a hot tub for kids. This resort is a beautiful resort. Rooms are large and wonderful. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Free mini bar was a blessing. Loved the adult swimming pool. The “No-See-Ums” were pretty bad so we all got bad bug bites. Very itchy. Bring afterbite. The view was spectacular from our room. Ocean was great to swim in as well. Food was mediocre, numerous people including my husband got food poisoning. Very far from town so not very conveniently located. But if you are looking for a nice retreat away from everything this is a nice place to go. Staff were so accommodating and friendly. Did not like that you had to make reservations for the Al A Cart restaurants by 9am every morning if you did not want the buffet. You are also limited on number of reservations. I think it is 3 for a 7 day stay. They do have a snack restaurant during the day by adult pool that was pretty good. All in all it is a nice resort and a great holiday place.

Nice location on beach-great views. Unfortunately we all got SICK!!! Lovely setting, beautiful grounds, nice staff, kids loved activities at pools. iguanas swim in the pool! Staff at buffet work hard, especially omelette lady-she was great-always smiled!Our room on 9th floor had great views-the bathroom needs a total Renovation! high quality bedding.Only one elevator working in Tower 1.Had a great massage with Judy. Food is not great here.The food in the specialty restaurants was not good. Very disappointing! We would not pay extra for premium as we feel there is really no benefit.

The food was almost inedible. Worst food we’ve experienced at a resort. 2 separate meals I ate crackers. Seemed like a lot of recycled food. Wait staff didn’t seem to care much. We booked premium but there wasn’t much premium about it. Poor liquor and especially wine selection. The premium lounge wasn’t much to be desired either. Positives: The room was great. Great shower and nice big towels. Adult pool was great. Nice temperature. The only odd part is the swim up bar is in the family pool. Management was very friendly. Talked to a few managers and ops manager about the issues. They gave us a nicer bottle of wine at 2 dinners. From some of the people I met, that were yearly returning guests, said that this would be their last year staying there as it really declined from what it was. It turned us off the Barceló brand.

This place was one of the best things to happen to me. After a year of intensely caring for other people, I had a week where I truly felt like I was being taken care of. We came here for our honeymoon and what I wanted was a place where I could really rest and not worry about anything. That’s what this week was! From the moment we arrived at check in, to getting a massage at the spa, all the staff at the restaurants, the cleaning staff, the bar tenders, the people who would come around and ask if I wanted drinks, the performers in the show we went to, all week I felt pampered. It felt like luxury, the room was very nice, I loved listening to the birds on the balcony in the morning. I highly recommend.
