Costa Sur All Inclusive Resort

Nice clean option with stocked kitchen to make some meals and have coffee in room. Great staff, very accommodating and pleasant. Pools are heated to warm would be my only disappointment as it should be refreshing to cool down. Next time I would bring swim shoes to swim in ocean as it is hard on the feet but nice with rocks blocking waves. Lots of whales to watch this time of year and amazing sunsets. Food is good in restaurants, but we enjoyed many more options in town this time using the bus which was only 10 Pesos and stop right in front of resort. Spa was amazing had best massage and pedicure and booking was so easy.

The property has most of what you need: a beach, a restaurant, 2 pools, entertainment, good parking. Its rooms are a bit run down. The restaurant is not top notch but staff is super friendly. The bar is great. The air near the hot pool has some waste water odor. The beach is slightly narrow and closes in high tide situations. But, the overall experience is cost effective and nice. All the rooms are waterfront. Overall, a good place to stay in PVR.

Overall, we had a great experience at Costa Sur. We had a lovely view of the ocean and enjoyed having a nice kitchen where we could make and eat meals. I do think the property is in need of some updates as many things needed to be fixed (doors, furniture, appliances) and the elevator didn't work the entire time we were there although we were on the 2nd floor so it didn't really bother us. You cannot walk into town from the property which was a little inconvenient, so you had to take the bus or Uber. I would've enjoyed talking a morning walk from the property but it wasn't possible. The pool was lovely and clean and offered a view of the ocean. I also enjoyed having a restaurant on-site so we didn't have to leave in the evening to eat if we were too tired. The front desk will also not exchange U.S. cash for Pesos so be prepared to use the ATM and pay the fees. The T.V. also worked great as we watched Netflix from time to time after it got dark. All in all it was a great experience but the property could benefit from a few upgrades; however, if they do that the prices would probably increase so it may not be worth it.

This didn’t work for us for a relaxing holiday by the ocean. We were able to have lounge chairs beside the pool only on only 3/8 days. And there were only 6 sun umbrellas for 58 lounge chairs. It was very crowded and lacked sufficient means to get out of the sun.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay Costa Sur. This was the first time my husband and I stayed at this resort. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. We were in a renovated studio room in the older building and it was nice . The rooms have a beautiful view of the ocean and has a little kitchenette. There is a restaurant on site and a bar with 2 for 1 happy hour drink specials. There is a bus stop right at the hotel with only 10 min ride to downtown and handy to take the bus to little villages and beaches south of PV. Costa Sur is a small resort but has everthing you need including a gym, spa and a convenience store on site.

We like that it is a non smoking resort. Not everyone honours the rule as they sometimes smoke on their balconies but it is impossible for the staff to monitor.

The staff was courteous, they accommodated a room change to have access to improved wifi, the pools were well maintained and there were activities available. Unfortunately, the elevator in our building was out of order for the last five days! As seniors with breathing concerns, this seriously impacted our ability to use amenities.

We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. All the staff are very friendly. In particular our room lady, Yanet, was amazing. She couldn’t do enough for us and kept our room immaculate. We would definitely visit again.

Overall it was okay. Definitely not worth the money as the area where this place is located there’s nothing around you. One bar one restaurant attached to the place that has subpar food that’s way overpriced. The rooms and everything are VERY old and outdated. Our ac machine barely worked and had water dripping from the vents. No privacy in the bathroom as they have the windows that stay open 24/7 you can’t shut them. So everyone can hear anything you do in there. Also the sheets and blankets were always stained with yellow or black marks. The curtains in our room were absolutely filthy and black all over them. Very overpriced for what you actually get. It also seems like it’s more of an old people’s home. They have a lot of 65+ and the activity’s they do are mainly for them and take up all of the pool. Very small “private beach”. WiFi never worked just overall for the price I paid I didn’t feel it met my standards no where near it. I hope this helps others look for something worth the money !

Friendly staff. Once a beautiful resort but showing its age. Small things like worn towels, pool pump not working, sand in pool,old utensils and common area cleanliness not up to par. Restaurant snd bar expensive to eat and drink at. Location is very amazing and beautiful. Room was cleaned well everyday.

This is really a gem of a resort! We were greeted upon arrival by the valet right in front of the lobby. The lobby is modern with a great view of Banderas Bay. The staff at the front desk welcomed us with smiles and checked us in efficiently Our room on the 8th floor was spotless, equipped with a nice kitchen, coffee maker (with a complimentary coffee package), full size fridge/freezer, stove, microwave and all the necessary equipment to be able to make meals. The room was well lit and tastefully decorated with a large flat screen TV. The AC worked great. The king bed was very comfortable with plenty of good pillows. We both slept very well. The balcony overlooked the protected beach and had an expansive view of Banderas Bay. The bathroom and shower (with good pressure) were spotless. During our stay the room maid kept everything clean with fresh towels every day. We ate breakfast every morning at the restaurant by the pool. The service was very good and everything we had was well prepared, fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. There is a convenience store right off the lobby with an ATM inside that was well stocked and very reasonably priced. The grounds and amenities were all very nice and kept clean. All the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. If you are driving you will really appreciate the ample free parking in front of the hotel! This hotel has proven to be a great value, in a very good location and I am looking forward to staying here again.

On arrival at this resort we were greeted with a welcome home comment, from the bell boy. Went inside to check in and waited quite a long time as there was only one person doing the checking in of all guests,. Our bags were taken to our room though we could have easily have taken them ourselves as we only had a carry on size of luggage. On entering the room, my first thought was this room has not had any work done to it since the hotel opened it's doors to the public. Bathroom was disgusting with mold on the grout between the broken tiles in the shower enclosure. Furniture was dated, kitchen was small and you had to use an open flame to light the gas stove, meaning gas was on before you lit the matchstick. Juliet balcony was basically a Juliet balcony with enough room to place two chairs for outside usage. One thing that this hotel has going for it, is the view of the ocean from every room. Pool and sunbathing area, not enough sun loungers for every guest to use, so the usual reserving the best loungers goes on way before the sun comes up, also not enough shade umbrellas available. Beach is not all sand, it does have plenty of stones and pebbles and can only be used at low tide. Restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner was limited in quantity and taste. What gives this hotel a passing grade is the employees, they make this hotel, from management all the way down to the pot washer, they all treat you like family.

This place is magical. It’s very basic so if you’re looking for fancy, it’s not it. But - the views !! We saw dolphins, eagle spotted manta Rey’s, devil manta rays jumping in the ocean. We saw all kinds of fish including angel fish just snorkeling right on that beach. The staff are amazing, the room is comfortable, the food is good. The view though - for the amount you pay, it’s a steal ! We will be back.

This was our 27th year at costa sur, when we started going here it was costa villa valarta back in 1998. In those 27 years we have been here 15 times. We love the location on the coast, near old town, has a private beach, staff is super friendly and the price is competitive with similar places in the area. The overall condition of the property is decent in the common areas. But unfortunately the current owners don't keep the rooms in good shape. All but the 2nd floor in the north tower are in desperate, and I mean desperate need of major upgrades. The ninth floor on the south tower is completly shut down and has been for a few years, (we stayed on the 8th floor south tower) All the rooms need new everything, they need professional cleaning and some major deep cleaning. We tipped the heck out of our maids hoping it would at least get our room up to 3rd world cleaning standards, and it did, but folks "old world mexican charm" shouldn't be dirty everything. We have a soft spot for this place so even my review is done with some bias, bias in favor of this place. Don't get me started on when they have weddings, but that is for another day. Suggest reading some reviews on y e l p, and take it with a grain of salt. But unfortunately there is much accuracy in some to the reviews. Location-good, price-good, staff-good. Needs a major douche in both towers.

Hair dryer burning up TLC ON ROOM PLEASE. OLD 8ft glass slider dragging bad most likely the rollers on the bottom of the slider are gone. Very hard to open in order to gain access to the balcony. Light under the fan ready to fall off Air conditioner controller in the room not working. No matter what you do the air conditioner only knows one thing!! FREEZE YOUR BUTT OFF!!! Room needs a lot of work to bring it up to 4 star like the rating says. Not even close Pros: View was outstanding looking out over the Pacific. People were very friendly. Volume kept going out on tv.

This particular room was in need of upgrading and very noisy. Bed was very comfortable.

I’ll start by what we didn’t like - we arrived around 3:00pm and we’re told our room was not ready, would be another 40 minutes and they would contact us. We waited by the bar and after 90 minutes I went back to the front desk to ask about our room. I was told they messaged me our room was ready, I showed no such thing happened. From then on things were nice. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable. At the resort we spent most of our time around the pool. Drink service was easy, there were activities to do, plenty of lounges around the pool. With just one restaurant on the resort, meal choices were limited. We made one dinner reservation in town for our anniversary, the concierge was very helpful calling a few places to help make our reservation. The ocean view from our balcony was great especially given the daily passing of whales not 100 yards away. We would definitely recommend this resort. Just be aware, it is mostly an elderly retired group staying there.

Rude and completely incompetent staff!!

Didn't realize this was a time share property. The check in process was terrible. We were told we had to go talk to this lady who would give us drink tickets and tell us about the amenities of the hotel. She kept us there for half an hour trying to get us to sign up for a time share breakfast presentation. We told her we had food poisoning (which was true) and couldn't make it and she still made us sit there while she tried to convince us to sign up. The hotel itself was old and run down and not clean and falling apart. The restaurant service was not great. There was consistently bird poop on all of the pool chairs and the staff acted annoyed when you asked them to clean it off. There were ants in the room. The hotel itself is inconveniently located 15 minute drive from town. There was a lot of road noise and I had to sleep with ear plugs. The AC was shotty at best. There was bird poop all over the balcony of our room. The bed didn't have actual sheets, but just the slip cover so the mattress was exposed.

The 2 pools were nice. The ocean front private tidal pool was beautiful. The balcony views s were spectacular! The poolside staff/waiters were friendly and hardworking!! Bell hops were great! My negative experience was the greeting from the concierge Elizabeth. We felt attacked, bullied and lied to about going to a timeshare. We came to this resort to relax and enjoy our stay. It was an extremely uncomfortable and stressful situation. We were told 90 minutes of our time is all we needed to listen to some time share information. We slotted 90 minutes out of our vacation time and then we’re told they needed 4 hrs of our time!! And then got upset when we said we had made other plans as we did NOT KNOW we need 4 hrs.! We did give Sabrina 2 hrs of our time but because we did not commit to the 4 hr presentation that we had NO IDEA ABOUT!! That we could not receive the complimentary free breakfast, the 100$ voucher or 2 free massages we were offered prior. That was 2 hours of OUR vacation time that we gave to Costa Sur for nothing in return. That is poor business.:(( I would NOT stay OR recommend this resort to my friends or family for this reason alone :(

Staff 10/10 friendly but they are short staffed so it takes a while to get anything. Especially the restaurant and pool area it took 30-45min to get food or drinks. Food quality 5/10, room 7/10- they’re large but need updating. The beach access and quality 3/10. So many rocks!!! You definitely can’t be barefoot. I prefer sandy beach. So if you do too, this place isn’t for you.

This hotel has a private beach area with calm and warm water, protected from the waves by a barrier of rocks. The rooms are clean and comfertable. The only negative about it is that it is a good distance away from downtown. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting PV.

We enjoyed our stay at Costa Sur. Loved the private beach and mini-mart located inside the resort which had everything we needed and more at very good prices. Minutes from downtown Vallarta, the bus stop is directly in front. Keep in mind rush hour. The one disappointing thing is that since it is located on the main coastal road, there is a lot of noise, most noticeable in the early morning and night. Minutes from Eden and Mismaloya (Hiking, ATV, tequila tasting). Good value and would stay again.

El hotel es viejo, pero en buen estado y todas las habitaciones tienen una excelente vista al mar. El hotel esta bien ubicado, se puede llegar al centro de puerto vallarta en tan solo 10 minutos en auto.

Great quiet resort. Very clean and friendly service. Only negative is its far from everything but if you want to relax this is the place and if you want to go anywhere transportation is available but of course the cost adds up.

This is a great place to get away. Nice resort with friendly staff, great food, good prices, and beautiful views. I was there the first week of December and couldn’t ask for better weather. Everything is with in a twenty to thirty minute ride from the resort and the airport is 40-45 min depending on traffic. The local bus is a great way to get around and was only 20 peso (about .50 cents US). It is only a short trip to Boca witch is a must see as well. Look forward to going back here.

Terrible food, rude staff, 1 complimentary coffee? Even motel 8s give you free coffee

Location is great. Unfortunately food is not great but you can always take the bus to downtown which has lots of options.

It's an old resort, that needs renovations, but it's very well located with gorgeous ocean views,and ideal to relax Friendly staff ,kitchen very slow, food almost OK

Refurbished room was ok and most of the staff was nice. The lobby market was convenient. However, very bad experience. Hotel is old (as evidenced by the tiny 2-person elevators). Old uncomfortable bed. Shower either boiling or freezing. Air conditioner inadequate. Sewer smell. Food was awful and made me instantly sick one day after a few bites. Luckily the restroom was nearby. Tiny pool area with not nearly enough loungers and umbrellas. No sand beach as advertised-rock beach with a few small patches of sand. Not worth the price.

I liked the property. Housekeeping was very stingy with one hand towel and one wash rag for two people. Food was horrible. Staff was very kind and helpful. Property was clean and the views were beautiful

The food was always cold from restaurant no matter how many times we explained ……it was overpriced for what we got ….otherwise Costa sur is the best and cudos to Juanita from housekeeping she is fantastic and should be recognized as a star employee……..
