El hotel Barrera bien junto con el servicio, al ser mi primera vez en Costa Rica la zona la sentí insegura sin poder salir a caminar, esto no es problema del hotel pero para que lo tengan en cuenta. El costo del valet para el sitio se me hizo costoso, otros hoteles por ejemplo en escazu te lo incluyen en el costo de la habitación.

This historic hotel has been renovated, keeping the original floor tiles in the restaurant, mezzanine, and entry lobby. The guest bedrooms and bathrooms are large, making the lodging very comfortable. The staff is cheerful, helpful and efficient. Rooms are vacuumed, linens changed, and bathroom floors mopped—every day of your stay. Exceptionally clean. The food is excellent, particularly the dinner menus, highlighting fish, shellfish from Atlantic, pacific and gulf, as well as regional specialties. If you are visiting for business-the key banks and government agencies are in this area. If you are a tourist interested in the museums, theaters and churches, this is an excellent location to lodge.

The sheets had mold and was not clean. I had to call for someone to change all of my sheets entirely! Then on top of that, the shower was not clean, and had brown spots. I decided I couldn’t stay there any longer and go to a different hotel due to the uncleanliness of the hotel. The hotel manager, Stephanie, stated that I will receive my refund through expedia, and now they’re refusing to communicate or give me my refund! AGAIN, Stephanie stated I will receive my refund, and they still haven’t given me my refund. Expedia isn’t being helpful at all with this situation as well. DO NOT BOOK HERE AT ALL!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND. INCONSIDERATE BUSINESS.

WiFi provided was incredibly slow, (no more than 4 Mbps on a good day). Everything was good aside from that, but upon checkout and waiting for our Uber, an attendant attempted to scare us into getting a Taxi rather than an Uber since they are technically illegal in Costa Rica. I explained that the issue is that I tried to schedule a taxi to the airport but no one would let me reserve, even though I was able to do so from the airport to the hotel earlier that week. We were running late, so I just scheduled an Uber. This attendant was very persistent and scared my partner until we arrived at the airport. I think the behaviour of the attendant was extremely unprofessional and soured the stay at the hotel.

Perfect property in central San Jose. Easy to walk everywhere. No car needed. Exceptional breakfast buffet which was included in our stay (to our surprise). The reason for a 4 star instead of 5 is that I reserved a Junior King room which is an upgrade to a regular king as it has an additional separate seating area. This room was on the interior of the building and the windows looked out into a small courtyard with rooms all around. We could look directly into other roomsand at people checking in at the front desk on the 5th floor (we were on the 4th). There was very little light coming in and even so we could not keep blinds open unless we wanted to be exhibitionists. I have never experienced a room like this. I would have preferred a room looking out onto the street. It was midnight and I was too tired to change. Fortunately we stayed out of the room most of the day and evening. It would have been nice to know the location beforehand (there is no mention of this online) and that it did not have an exterior view. Stay away from this type of room and you will have a 5 star experience here.

The staff is so helpful, from the valet to reception. Breakfast has many options including delicious granola. Bed was very comfortable The only thing I’d like changed is to have a real door on the toilet instead of the frosted glass door. Would definitely stay here again when we visit San Jose

Checking in was a nightmare & the desk clerk was rude & unhelpful. No privacy in our room’s bathroom, music at the hotel made it impossible to have a conversation, concierge was uninterested in his job, they put our family on 2 different floors despite a empty room next to me and my husband. Overall a horrible experience, we’ll never stay at a Hilton again.

However, I noticed that he smiled and was much more friendly when speaking with white guests. Jason at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay truly wonderful. During a very difficult time—our son required emergency surgery at nearby Clínica Bíblica—Jason showed incredible kindness and support. He anticipated our needs, accommodated every request with genuine care, and consistently checked in to ask how our son was doing. I sincerely hope Gran Hotel recognizes what an exceptional team member they have in him. Beyond Jason, the porters and concierge staff were also excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. The food at the hotel was very good, with the brunch standing out as a highlight. The location is ideal—within walking distance to several museums and just across the street from the National Theatre. All in all, a fantastic hotel in a prime location. You really can’t go wrong here. And if you have the chance, be sure to ask for Jason.

La ubicación es inmejorable, justo en el centro de San José, en la misma manzana se encuentran el Teatro Nacional y el museo del oro. Aproximadamente a 300 metros la Catedral Metropolitana, el mercado de artesanías y el mercado de San José. El servicio de primer nivel y el restaurante es bastante recomendable para la cena.

O hotel é muito confortável e os quartos são modernos e limpos. O prédio é histórico e muito bem conservado. Fica ao lado do teatro nacional, que também vale a visita. O hotel fica no centro de San Jose, mas a região não é muito bonita para caminhar ao redor. O café da manhã é pago à parte e realmente muito caro (USD38,00 por dia). Assim como as opções do restaurante. A maioria dos dias optei por pedir comida por uber eats ou Rappi. Também há outras opções bem perto do hotel. Recomendo restaurante Spoon que serve desde café da manhã até jantar.

Attractive façade, shared with a Quizno's. No restaurants around except fast food franchises and one unappealing sports bar. Only one - expensive - restaurant in that hotel. Fifty US$ breakfast, not included. For some reason, only local TV channels were available. Cheap mattress. Giant pillows that felt like bags of concrete. Not even a bathrobe. Amazingly, the "view" from our small room was towards an interior poorly lit "courtyard," similar to what you would expect in a penitentiary, where prisoners are allowed for their daily walk. A depressing sight. We requested to switch but they explained that all rooms are like this! So much for the Hilton experience... We left after the first night and were lucky to switch to the Barceló hotel, which offers free airport transportation. This is not an attractive neighborhood.

Pues, el hotel en si esta bien , solo hay unos puntos a destacar por ejemplo el desayuno 38 dolares por persona muyyyy caro , el parqueo 28 dolares y no puedes sacar el carro despues de las 10 pm , pedimos recomendaciones de paraueo y fueronnmuy pesados no nos an querido decir pues para que pagemos los 28 que cobran , lo bueno de este hotel es el lugar donde esta si quieres explorar san Jose centro es muy bien ubicado aunque creo es mejor quedarce en otro lugar y luego ir al centro en uber igual aparte del centro no puedes ir a ningun otro lugar si no es unber por ques muy peligroso yo tome el uber hasta para ir 2 cuadras, las instalaciones estan bien el restaurante es lindo , pudimos guardar el equipaje despues de entregar la aviación , la recepcion esta mal diseñada y necesitan explicarlo en los detalles de la reserva , No me senti con una calida vienvenida al llegar , digamos que para lo que costava no me senti esoecialmente tratado , me senti como un indijente pidiendo migajas ! Cuando escribes no te responden ! 💸 el desayuno 💸 los precios mas caros que en cualquier hotel de miami ! Me volveria a quedar aqui mmmm quiza solo si quiero estar en el puro centro !!! Sino quédate en escalante o sabana en una torre donde puedes ver los hermosos amaneceres es mas autentico en mi opinión ! Necesitan hacer sentir los huéspedes que son especiales así como los huéspedes escogen este hotel pensando que es lo mejor !
