Taunton House Hotel

It wasn't really clear on how to enter the hotel as there was no one at reception. I had an email to say I would have entrance details 24hrs before this didn't happen and I tried to call the number but it wasn't the correct telephone number so I had to goggle this. Managed to speak to a man who was quite sharp when I asked for the code. He said I would get his after 12noon on day of arrival. Which I did get a text message with this on after 12noon. Quite difficult to understand the door entrance but once I understood this it was easy. Room was cold as heating wasn't on and the windows were quite drafty. Beds were very comfortable . Shower curtain was a bit yellow and if I had of pained full price for the room I would not of need happy but as I had a discount I was ok with this.

Lovely place. Nice and clean, quiet and very close to town. Parking was very easy and convenient

Located just a 5 min walk from town centre. Old building with some charm. Very clean and tidy. Car park next to hotel. Can be noisy as location by a busy road. Our fan was broken, no spare !!!! so had to have windows open. Thank goodness for tear plugs !! Bathroom ok, a little aged , towels ok cleanish !

Been staying here since 2015 and its gone downhill, never the same after COVID. Clean enough but just a room with a key lock outside the door, nothing else. Even a few months ago there was breakfast and reception during the day but this stay there was nothing. No reception at check-in or someone there overnight, no bar or breakfast. Front door is left open so anyone could walk in and you let your self into your room with a key code to the key lock outside your door. Not ideal for some single travelers and certainly no deterrent on-site for noisy people staying there. I assume the front door is locked at some point in the evening. I didn't like the lack of any kind of security or personal touch and will look elsewhere next time I visit Taunton. On the plus side there are plenty of dinner and breakfast options nearby.

Town centre with great/convenient/secure parking in rare. This property also had a foolproof access system using codes...no keys... perfect !! Comfortable bed, very clean with a personal vibe going on.... No fruit tea teas ..... But for what it cost that all is forgiven... especially as the coffee machine was heaven.. well done guys 👍

Lots of on-site parking, easy walk into town, its bed only no breakfast but that was fine for us, oddly there was no one on site, access to the property was by emailed code which was tapped into the front door access panel, but that was OK for us, same with the rooms. The only staff member I saw and spoke to was the cleaner.

Hade detta funkar så hade det varit ok med resterande. Ganska sliten i övrigt, engelsk standard, unket luft. Ingen i receptionen, andra resenärer lämnade mitt i natten. Jag antar att missnöjet var stor då elektroniska låsen utsattes för vandalism.

Shower didn’t work for heating. Initial response wasn’t great. Requested to change rooms, as wasn’t offered. They duly obliged and found the response quick after I had suggested this as an option. It’s an automated process. Once customer was stuck at the front door couldn’t get in. So do. It book late as the system is slow to issue information.

We loved the family room it was so eazy to get in with codes and the room was well thought outand clean it was a lovely stay and will be using you again and telling all out your hotel

It was cold , the heating was switched on in the morning only after a phone call after 7 am--temperature overnight was 5 degrees! No hot water to shower---barely luke warm. No receptionist on site until 8 am. Called emergency no to request switching on heating which was done. However, subsequent calls to report lack of hot water went unanswered. Reported lack of hot water to receptionist but he did not seem to be interested in resolving the issue---by then it was time for me to leave.

The hotel is very clean, comfortable and in a great location for the town centre. Staff are always very helpful and professional, stayed many times and always excellent.

Great location. Bathroom was “tired”, showerhead not stable in holder, shower curtain needed renewing. Overall an okay stay, bathroom could do with update.

On a day of zero-degree temperatures, our room had no central heating and the entire hotel was unheated. We were told every room had just one portable electric heater...and that "was enough". After 45 minutes of trying to get the room warm, we told the front desk (the only member of staff on site) it was still not warm enough. Rather grudgingly, the he passed my wife one extra heater (half the size of the one in the room) which she had to carry up 4 flights of stairs herself. We went out for dinner (hoping to get warm) and on returning to the room at 8pm, the room was still only just above 15 degrees centigrade. The beds had a thin duvet on them. Having a serious illness and knowing it would be too cold to sleep, we tried to contact the front desk to get some extra blankets but there was no-one available and I think there was probably no member of staff on site at all. The room had been poorly cleaned and prepared (water still in the kettle, a wet bath mat left on the floor) and a lack of quality was evident everywhere (cheap, astringent soap, a barely warm shower with weak pressure, cheap bedding). That anyone can be charged nearly £100 for this experience on a Tuesday night in December, is extraordinary and we will be seeking a full or partial refund. Please avoid until there is evidence of drastic improvements.

Poor communication for check in did not match website advert, no details on how to enter property, site contact number did not work , mobile contacted person rude and abrupt, room was ice cold on arrival and radiators turned off, bathroom raditor not working and signs of damp evident on walls , not as throughly cleaned as exoected so overpriced for accommodation

Awful. Tired and filthy. I provided feedback and photos to Hotels.com in a support conversation but have heard nothing back yet.

A good stay even though shower didn’t work in the first room the person to contact was quick and moved us to another room where everything worked. Would definitely stay there again.

Good location i have stayed her a couple of times as easy for town centre but disappointed the room was cold on arrival and a very small room .lucky it was one night .The receptionist was very lovely though and did her up most to make us comfortable. THE ROOM WAS VERY TIRED.As a silver member of hotel's. Com very disappointed. DISCOUNTED services for a discounted experience.

The hotel is located at the high street and a supermarket is just at the opposite. It is very convenience. The hotel interior is quite old and has traffic noise at night.

Check in was remote. Not for me. No bar or food. Booked two rooms both freezing on arrival. Next morning shower ran cold despite sink having hot water (room 12). Stayed before but wont agian

I have all ways enjoyed staying there , The early end to check in , is a problem. The reception agreed to leave a key in a discrete location. They have started chargeing for breakfast, which came as a surprise, so i got a meal deal from Tesco's instead. I all ways ask for a printd receipt on leaving to make sure all room charges have been cleared .
