Everything about the Hotel Karel V was superb except for the WiFi, which was remarkably slow for such a quality establishment. During a four night stay I never measured higher than 12Mbps down/4Mbps up, although the hotel web site advertises “high speed” wireless. Something to be aware of if your travel needs include fast WiFi.

We had a great couple of nights at the Karel V hotel. The room and bathroon were specious and the seperate WC had a basin in it - really welcome but quite rare. It was equipped to the standard I expectt from a 5* hotel and housekeeping kept it that way. All the staff were absolutely brilliant - incredibly helpful and friendly - the reception team in particular (thanks Jet!) giving us recommendations and suggestions and nothing was too much trouble. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel (book in advance to secure a table) but there are so many great restaurants within a few minutes walk that wasn't an issue. The breakfast was of the usual high standard (with crispy bacn - another rare thing!) and again nothing was too much trouble. Finally, like its service and accomodation, the location this hotel is unbeatable with ample parking (paid) and EV chargers. We fell in love with Utrecht and hope to return again next year and we will certainly stay at the Grand Hotel Karel V
