Really happy with the welcome from the reception, The ambiance of the hotel was excellent. Parking was easy too. We got a drink at the bar but all the tables were set up with cutlery and menus. The seating was set up for dining only, I would have preferred a comfy armchair, or a ‘snug’ to rest in after a busy day. We had no choice but to go back to our room. There was a room with 4 chairs. But not at all welcoming. Detached and cold, One felt as though you were in the naughty room. Lovely nights sleep and although the room was smaller than were used to, it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was very disappointing. I asked for tea and coffee. That was forgotten and not very hot when we reminded them. I ordered a small porridge with honey in a side pot. That was ignored or forgotten. It was just about warm. I think a jug of hot milk would have been helpful, but staff were difficult to find as they were busy. My husbands full English was dry and tepid. He didn’t eat it. Overall the breakfast was disappointing. The ceilings had dried tendrils hanging down and needed a lot of dusting. From reception to the cleaning staff, they were all lovely. Ordering a taxi via reception, was faultless. I’d happily stay here again but hopefully a comfortable, comforting room will be available. The ‘lounge area’, they pointed to the night before was also being used for the breakfast buffet. An outstandingly good looking hotel internally and incredibly beautiful outdoor space.

My sister and I decided it was a shame - just not lived up to what it could be - history sounded good - photos great - but some rooms blocked off ? We struggled to find somewhere nice to sit - some staff sat at tables in th bar ? - no lounge we could find ? We sat on a sofa in a hallway ! No lift . No Air Con.

Overpriced accommodation - think you’re going to be in the main house and then get stuck in a 70s extension at the back. Rooms are dated and menu is limited. Waiter, Jennife was excellent and very attentive but the food seemed to take a while to arrive. No air con in main dining area on a very hot day. Beautiful gardens and decent parking but experience certainly did not live up to the cost.

Amazing experience, but the bed was very uncomfortable so both of us had poor sleep and woke up in pain. Otherwise can’t fault the place. Staff very friendly and plenty of drink options at the bar.

The room was smaller than expected but it was nice and clean and fully equipped. The only thing I didn’t like is that they had a full length mirror opposite the toilet. Who wants to watch themselves on the loo. Shame as the shower was amazing. Staff were amazing and friendly and really friendly. On our second night of our stay there was a prom, which meant we couldn’t have drinks in the bar and we had lots a noise from the kids. But I will them there due they get this under control eventually. Plus view from room want nice. But the gardens were stunning. I would stay again though .

Very clean hotel, lovely setting, extremely helpful and polite staff. The only thing that let is down was the vegan breakfast offering, which was huge disappointment, particularly for the price. Which is a shame as the other breakfasts looked delicious.

Great hotel in lovely surroundings, comfy, very clean and great food but what really makes this hotel is the amazing staff, I’m sure they have all been on a course to make the guests feel comfortable and at home, well done 👍 a big thank you to Harriet, Jordan, Damian and Mia, looking forward to my next visit

Beautiful hotel slightly disappointed to have not been in the main building but an extension at the back looking at the pictures you assume your room is in this lovely graded historical building and I certainly would not have paid this price for a deluxe room as it was small if I had known. However, it’s a lovely hotel when you are in the main building it is steeped in history the room was spotless and comfortable the room service exceptional staff friendly

Hotel has a lot of character but I would expect more for my money. Check in was delayed to 5:00pm due to visiting football team. However although I was warned before hand no explanation or real apology was given. Usually a hotel would offer a complimentary drink or breakfast for such an inconvenience. Restaurant was excellent with superb service. Room was quite noisy with layers of dust in some areas. Overall ok but wouldn’t return.

Just bad, at this price point. Have stayed here before but not for a while. Any one of a room so smelly and damp the carpet was actually moving, stifling room on a 16 degree day, and a bed so old and cheap I could feel the box springs would be disappointing. All three: not ok. The staff are fine, the food is good (if very pricey), and the garden is a nice place to be, but as for the rest: oh dear.

Very large hotel room in a very quiet area. Room was very clean and maintained in very good condition and the shower was also in very good condition. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as except the eggs which you need to order (and takes quite a long time when you're in a hurry) there's not too many other options

Not happy that I paid £150 to have limited hot water that we had to be put in one section of the hotel with no bath as requested. The WiFi was terrible so I couldn’t do my online work. My toilet barely flushed and I pulled a great long hair out of my curry. I do travel reviews so I will be reviewing this hotel.

A good-looking hotel with many period features. We stayed in an executive room in the courtyard. The bathroom was so small we couldn't both be in there at the same time - I literally had to come out to let my husband go in. The room itself was a good size and I appreciated a variety of teas being available. It would have been nice if there had been 2 "comfy" chairs. For me, the bed was way too hard, but I know beds are very much about personal taste. The staff were all friendly and attentive. The dinner menu was a bit limited (wasn't a fan of the prawn cocktail but the butter chicken was very nice). Hot options at breakfast were good, even a gluten free option. It wasn't perfect, but probably the best hotel in the area.

I didn’t enjoy our stay this property. I paid £195 for a family room in the annex which was dated and small (with a very small bathroom) for three people. It was certainly not worth this. I asked at reception and was shown another family room as an option exactly the same as the one we were in. My Expedia booking included a free breakfast but this wasn’t on the booking. The receptionist said she would speak to the duty manager about this but when I asked later on she said she hadn’t been able to get hold of them. I asked about this again upon check out but there was no record of me having asked, I chose not to pay extra for it. Whilst central parts of the hotel are nice the annex is not of a 4 star standard and not worth the amount guests are paying to stay there . Disappointing as this was meant to be a treat for myself and children whilst attending a friend’s birthday.

Great hotel in a pleasant setting, nice staff. Room was spacious and comfortable with a huge window with woodland views. Dinner was good but they need more healthy options on the menu as everything seems to come with chips. Breakfast was great. Overall, highly recommended!

The seating was set up for dining only, I would have preferred a comfy armchair, or a ‘snug’ to rest in after a busy day. We had no choice but to go back to our room. There was a room with 4 chairs. But not at all welcoming. Detached and cold, One felt as though you were in the naughty room. Lovely nights sleep and although the room was smaller than were used to, it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was very disappointing. I asked for tea and coffee. That was forgotten and not very hot when we reminded them. I ordered a small porridge with honey in a side pot. That was ignored or forgotten. It was just about warm. I think a jug of hot milk would have been helpful, but staff were difficult to find as they were busy. My husbands full English was dry and tepid. He didn’t eat it. Overall the breakfast was disappointing. The ceilings had dried tendrils hanging down and needed a lot of dusting. From reception to the cleaning staff, they were all lovely. Ordering a taxi via reception, was faultless. I’d happily stay here again but hopefully a comfortable, comforting room will be available. The ‘lounge area’, they pointed to the night before was also being used for the breakfast buffet. An outstandingly good looking hotel internally and incredibly beautiful outdoor space.

The breakfast was by far the worst we had eaten in the past few years- the egg was raw, not poached, the sausage mushy and pink, and the tomato under-cooked. We saw 3 other tables complaining about their food. It certainly wasn't befitting of a spa hotel. Aside from the friendly staff, we certainly wouldn't recommend, nor would we return.

Overall we had a lovely stay. The hotel were very accommodating to us. Sarah (operations manager) was fantastic! Along with the lady that checked us in. The room was clean and maids very friendly. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has plenty of parking. The bar service was a little slow around lunchtime with a new member of staff. But I guess people have to start somewhere. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

I have to say that I wasn’t sure what to expect but I think my daughter and I actually found the most helpful, polite and attentive staff in any hotel we have stayed in. Such a wonderful team. A big thank you to Neil and the team in reception and Damian and the bar team for keeping us entertaining late in the evening. The rooms was also amazing. Gutted we only had one night. This time……

Not happy that I paid £150 to have limited hot water that we had to be put in one section of the hotel with no bath as requested. The WiFi was terrible so I couldn’t do my online work. My toilet barely flushed and I pulled a great long hair out of my curry. I do travel reviews so I will be reviewing this hotel.

Very clean hotel, lovely setting, extremely helpful and polite staff. The only thing that let is down was the vegan breakfast offering, which was huge disappointment, particularly for the price. Which is a shame as the other breakfasts looked delicious.

The photo does not do this place justice. You can see how it must be popular as a wedding venue. My husband and I were in town for a show for one night and someone said this place was quite nice. That really is an understatement. Its a lovely hotel and the restaurant is amazing. Food was delicious and service was fantastic.

Stopping here thinking there was a golf course attached to the hotel, there was but was a ten min drive. Also poor service in the restaurant, ordered sides which came after we had finished our main and ask the staff several times.

Overall hotel is good. Staff were friendly cleanliness was good. Beds were comfort pillows not so.Extremely disappointed with the food could not recommend it. We passed our comments onto the chef. Who gave us a complimentary cheeseboard however in hindsight we should’ve sent the food back.

When we arrived the room we booked was not what was advertised. We spoke to the manager who gave us a free upgrade above the original level of room booked. The service from all the staff we met was excellent. Breakfast was very good.

The room was very clean, staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and there was access to a smart TV. There is ample parking which is free and the food was delicious and always served hot. We had 2 nights and the only reason I have not scored 5 stars is because the floors were quite noisy above us so we could hear those above walking and when they were using their shower etc. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay.
