Stayed 1 night

Stayed over for my son’s 30th . When we arrived we were advised the room was ready but if we wanted to go to it there would be an early check in cost of £15( we arrived after 2pm and check in was 3pm ) Was disappointed that both our rooms were disability /accessible rooms and my son’s room smelt like urine. Asked for room change but said fully booked and all housekeeping did was open the window. We had an evening meal although pricey £19.95 for fish and chips , £24.95 for duck breast , the meal was actually very nice. We ordered a Gin and tonic and a pudding and it they charged us nearly £30. £9 for cheesecake that when it came it was no more than 7cm diameter and would have been classed as bite size. The gin and tonic therefore was nearly £18. As the manager was sick spoke to what we assume was the deputy. We explained that they do not have a drinks menu available and the price for both items was extortionate and you don’t get those prices in London . He admitted that the cheesecake was small and offered a refund, but said the price of the drink is what you should expect in that establishment ( definitely not the Ritz). So this truly ruined what was a lovely day with my son and daughter in law.

Quiet and comfortable room, friendly and responsive staff. Good choice of cooked breakfast. Very attractive building in a nice setting. Being a large, old building don't expect quick and hot water!

Stayed 2 nights

Recently enjoyed a 3 night break at the Mount. Great hotel & grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful. It’s worth noting that there is no a/c or lift as the building is grade 2 listed.
