The pool and bar area is lovely. I feel staff should monitor sunbeds as people claim their sunbeds then disappear for hours. Its especially annoying when there's not many sunbeds. Besides that it is a gorgeous area. The standard room was basic. If you have mobility problems just be aware it is on a very steep hill. The staff are helpful and very friendly

My daughter and I stayed for 2 weeks, my sister and BiL joining us the last week. the views are magnificent! staff were so nice and helpful. The rooms were simple but so well organized with a place for everything. Plenty of drawers and hangingroom. I had the triple room. NIce and spacious with a frig and desk and nice sized open shared terrace facing the tennis courts and castle. If you like tennis these clay courts are nice. You can rent tennis racket and balls for $10 and they can call a tennis pro to play with you for $20 more if you dont have a partner or want lesson. The big swimming pool, with plenty of loungers and umbrellas was fantastic. The indoor pool has a sauna in the pool room.did not use either but it was warm inside the indoor pool room. There is alao a small pool but we always used the main pool. the main pool has a bar and outside dining area with great drinks and lunch menu. We all had the menu salads and french fries and the lunch specials (which change daily) a couple times. breakfast was plentiful and good. The only thing that could be improved upon was dinner. It was just okay and at $26pp my daughter and I shared a meal a few nights and opted to eat at the Pizza/Italian restaurant down the street (good!) or walked into town. Shuttle service at 9pm-12am we never used but they do have. I can recommend Gardenia Mare next door for swimming in Ocean and Negombo thermal park. Both Fantastic. Bus stop out front. Great service to anywhere on island.

Overall, Hotel Parco Cartaromana was a pretty mid stay. The view of the Aragonese Castle was absolutely beautiful and definitely the highlight of the hotel. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. I have celiac disease, and one gentleman went out of his way to make my cappuccino separately and provide me with several gluten-free breakfast options, which I really appreciated. That said, there were a few major downsides. The beds were extremely uncomfortable — you could literally feel the springs digging into your back all night. Also, housekeeping knocked on our door at 7:45 AM to clean the room, and even after I said “excuse me, no thank you” she still started opening the door. That honestly felt really invasive and inappropriate. Another thing I found frustrating was the towel policy. They make you rent beach/pool towels, which would’ve been fine if it had been explained clearly upfront. We only took out 2 towels total and reused the same ones for our entire 4-night stay, yet we were charged for them every single day. We weren’t even made aware of the towel fees until checkout when we saw the receipt. The hotel has a gorgeous location and some kind staff members, but between the uncomfortable beds, early housekeeping intrusion, and hidden towel charges, I probably wouldn’t stay here again.
