Capo d´Africa – Colosseo

5 min walk from the Colosseum. Several restaurants and market around the corner. Has a fitness room, which many places I looked at didn't. The area around was ok, but upscale or trendy, but it fits the neighborhood of the Colosseum. The staff was courteous and very friendly and accommodating. There was a pretty good selection of things to eat for the breakfast bar (hot, cold, baked goods). Metro is about 10 min walk away and UBER/Taxi always seemed to be just around the corner and never waited for more than 2-5 mins. My only gripe was there was some construction the first morning I was there, but that was from outside and the wasn't there subsequent days. The staff offered to change rooms if I had wanted. I had a very good stay!

Our stay was excellent! The room was spacious and very comfortable, and the hotel features a beautiful rooftop bar with good views of the Colosseum. The walk to the Colosseum was quick and easy—no more than 10 minutes. The rooftop was a great spot to relax during the day under the shaded areas and especially at night when the views were beautiful. The gym was also well-equipped for light workouts. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would gladly stay here again!

Spacious room with airy, big windows facing a quiet street. Amazing breakfast buffet. Close to Coliseum and Roman Forum. Great trattorias in friendly neighbourhood. Everything was perfect. No negatives. Would definitely recommend to friends and hope to revisit when in Rome again.

Great stay, hotel is convenient for get about Rome, close to Colosseo metro station which is only 2 stops from main train station Roma Termini. Room was a great size and very clean. Lovely rooftop bar. Staff on reception were very helpful, gave us a few good nearby restaurants.

We’ve previously stayed here when it was known as the Hotel Capo D’Africa. It’s been renovated with a beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the Colosseum, with great vibes. Rooms are also newly renovated and the hotel is greatly located. Staff were super friendly. I would definitely stay here again

We booked this hotel as part of a longer trip and wanted to be located near the train station but within walking distance to the Coliseum and the historic city sites. The hotel room was very comfortable and after a long day, the rooftop restaurant was perfect for a meal and watching the sunset!

When we arrived back our bags had been brought up to our room which was very much appreciated. Room was fantastic, with a view of the Colosseum. Rooftop bar was really nice where we had late drinks and some food. One of the lifts was out of order that night and first thing in the morning. The other lift only went to the 3rd floor so as our room was on the 4th floor it meant we had to get the lift to the 3rd and take the stairs to the 4th. Wasn’t a huge issue as the main lift was back working before we checked out so it didn’t cause a problem carrying baggage. Overall a very nice hotel, reasonably priced and good location. Would use again and recommend.

Overall, the stay at this hotel was pretty average. The staff was pleasant to interact with and the bartender in the bar below was excellent. The rooms are comfortable with good bedding and pillows. It is on the quiet side and bit further away from some of the busier and exciting areas in town (spanish steps, etc). But is in a great location if you are looking for a place near the colosseum (six minute walk). House keeping did a good job of cleaning the room but the tea / coffee were not refilled regularly and neither was the body wash. The most disappointing part was the bathroom. We had two connecting rooms and the smaller bathroom had a shower area that was an extremely small enclosed square with no lighting. The bathroom smelled like mildew and it had a noticeably bad smell all the time. We developed an allergy after two days of staying there and when looking around we noticed that the bathroom had a lot of black mold on the ceiling of the shower area. It was not immediately noticeable as the shower area does not have any lights. We took a video of the same but not sure if we can share it in this review. To give the hotel credit they did “clean” the mold after we informed them of it but were not apologetic about it and almost seemed annoyed. Additionally, in the second bathroom the water did not flow in the sink smoothly and the sink would just fill up while using it. In summary, if not for the mold in the bathroom would probably have given it a 4 rating.

This hotel is a bit dated. Carpet needs to be replaced. It is quiet, clean and near Colosium. I thought it was a little pricey. Staff is great and friendly.

The hotel is old, both in the building and the furniture, but that gives it a lot of character. Even with its age, the quality is still there. The amenities could use a little freshening up, but again, no complaints. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of options, served on a terrace overlooking the Colosseum. The same space doubles as a restaurant for dinner, offering a great view with your meal. The staff were great, especially Louisiana at the front desk. She was super helpful, friendly, and really made our stay better with her recommendations. The bed was two doubles pushed together to make a king. It was comfortable enough. Room service was also good. The location is fantastic—close to the Colosseum in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Perfect for exploring. The complimentary lemon and cranberry flavored water at reception was a nice touch and really helped after a hot day of walking.They do offer valet parking, which is expensive (42 €), but that’s just Rome. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you want a hotel with character, good service, and a prime location.

Great location, very walkable to the Colosseum. Room was clean and exactly as described. Breakfast options somewhat simple but good and good restaurant views on 4th floor. Would ve nice to have more charging outlets around the bed vs across the room. Minibar options available in small room refrigerator for a fee, if interested. Can hear quite a bit of city traffic when staying in the heart of Rome.

Location is good, ac is a joke and there is nothing they can do.

Good 4 night stay. Service at the front desk on check in and check out was great. We didn't fully utilize all the amenities, but enjoyed a free welcome drink on the terrace. Room was comfortable and clean, no major issues. The bed wasn't great - instead of a king, got 2 twins pushed together (which isn't uncommon in Europe), however one of the twin mattresses was flipped upside down so the pillow top was on the bottom and we could feel the springs and wires on the sleeping surface. We briefly considered flipping the mattress over the correct way ourselves, but decided we didn't want to find out if there was a reason it had been flipped over... The neighbourhood is pretty good for tourists. A good number of local restaurants that offered tasty food (Contrario Bistro was a favourite). Groceries, gelato, and even a couple fun gay bars within a few blocks. Around the corner from St. Clemente Basilica, which was a bit of a hidden gem - worth a visit to the excavated archeological site beneath. Down the street from the Coliseum. 10 minute walk to the metro. Overall, a great stay. Wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

We enjoyed our recent stay at this hotel. We have no criticisms, but we feel the following points might be of help to the management. Our room (302) lay directly underneath the dining/breakfast room. From around 6.30am, we could hear the scraping of chair legs as the furniture was moved. Similarly, we had the same distraction in the evening as guests moved their chairs towards or away from the tables. This would happen until around 11.00pm. Perhaps felt pads or rubber feet on the chair legs would alleviate this problem? Room 302 suffered from regular internet connection loss. Is this a blind corner, as internet connect was excellent elsewhere in the hotel? We hope that our observations will prove helpful.

I can't begin to say enough wonderful things about the hotel. The area is amazing! There are plenty of food options close by and transportation is readily available. There are 2 train stations located just a short walk from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For me, the little things speak the most. I celebrated my birthday during our trip and the staff surprised me with a bottle of champagne. The cold water offered when we returned everyday was very thoughtful. The rooftop bar is an amazing way to end the night. We felt appreciated as guests. We are already planning a return trip later this year. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We stay there for 7 nights. I'm not sure why this hotel has such a high rating but our experience is definitely not as high as we expected. The hotel is a 3-star in disguise and it shows with the quality of the service they provide. When we first arrived outside the hotel gate with our suitcases, the receptionist saw us approaching, despite knowing there is a flight of stairs to climb in order to reach the lobby, she neither offered nor facilitated another employee to help us. Her attitude does not make you feel welcomed, and she even says "you're welcome" before you say "thank you." When you go in and out of the hotel, only occasionally the person at the bar would greet you, the people at the reception would literally pretend to be busy so they don't have to greet you when they see you coming. This hotel is also stingy AF, they only provide you 1 time free INSTANT coffee in your room. They provide you with so many mini-bar options that they can't even keep track of if you used any. I had to tell them that they placed an extra bottle of water and handed it back to the mini-bar person to avoid the charges, in the end, the reception still tried to charge me with it. Anyway, this is the most disappointing hotel experience I had in my Italy trip, especially after our wonderful time in Florence. By the way, ask them to change your room if it's on the first floor. It is really noisy and you get no privacy as it is next to a road in an area full of bars and restaurants.

The front desk was very friendly, helpful beyond belief and a pleasure to talk to. My wallet fell under the bed, I hadn’t noticed, and only when we were far onto our next destination did I notice they had been trying to reach me to tell me. They organized shipping it to me and I’m very grateful.

Excellent location. Just a couple minutes walk to the Coliseum. Modern and clean facilities. We had to wait about 30 mins after the check in time, 3:00 pm, which was a turn down but the stay was excellent.

Spent a lovely 4 nights at the Capo d’Africa. We particularly liked the rooftop restaurant for breakfast with a great view of the Colosseum. It is perfectly located for walking to all the sights and is in a quiet and peaceful area with several great restaurants. Highly recommend.

This was our second time staying at this hotel and it did not disappoint. Hotel staff is excellent and responsive. Breakfast on rooftop is lovely. Overall vibe is calm and tranquil.
