Hotel was good. No issues there. The only reason I took one star off is because I was charged extra for parking. This should already be included in the price listed on the website. I find it deceiving to leave that information out when booking the room.

The room was good. Nice and clean around the property. The pool was really small but usable. Breakfast was lacking. The pancake machine was broken. The oatmeal machine was also broken. Otherwise it was a great stay.

The hotel is rather difficult to even get into when I went over in the entering to check in the parking lot was full parking spaces. Don’t really allow for either an average size car without pumping the car next to you. They had a $20 parking fee wasn’t in the bill so they had to add that to the bill when you got there.

Very friendly staff and great breakfast. The main elevator is as broken all weekend which is as inconvenient since the stairwells were for emergency access only. Has to use the service elevator at the far end of the hotel.

Room was clean bed comfortable a little noisy with fellow guest. Asked for a new Iron never arrived had to be at work by 4am fell asleep after an hour of waiting had to go to work with wrinkled clothes. Parking was horrible spaces are way to small twice I had to crawl through my passenger side in order to drive my car.

Nice and convenient hotel for our stay in San Diego. The property is a bit outdated and the laundry facilities really need to be updated — I wasn’t able to do laundry on-site and had to take it to a family member’s house. That said, the hotel staff more than made up for it. Anna and Mena both went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Mena, the general manager, was absolutely outstanding. She checked in on us daily to make sure everything was okay, and her hospitality truly made us feel at home. She not only recommended a fantastic kabob spot in El Cajon and suggested a hairstylist for my mom before the communion party, but she also went out of her way to change our room to better accommodate our needs. Mena’s genuine kindness, attention to detail, and constant willingness to help left such a positive impression on us — she is the type of manager who turns a good trip into a great one. Anna also made our stay special. She helped us find places to go sightseeing and, when we were in the lobby dressed for the communion party, she kindly offered to take photos so my whole family could be in the picture together. Their kindness and dedication really stood out and helped make our experience memorable. With some updates to the property, this could easily be a five-star stay.

The bathroom was not clean (someone else's hair all over the floor, stains on the sink, etc.) and the bed felt broken/out of whack (partner verified this as it was normal on his side) making for I comfortable sleep. Again, not characteristic for this hotel as I've stayed here many times. I'm hoping it was a one-off experience and am still planning to give it another shot.

Noticed a series of fleas in our bed. Killed about 15 before Notifying front desk. They immediately switched my room. Upon entering our new room we went strait to the restroom to strip our clothes to shake off the fleas that latched on to us. Took about 2 hours to kill them in the bathroom. Staff worked with us but the room was dirty.

Friendly staff up front. Definitely attentive. The fact that you have to use a keycard for access is nice, adds to the overall safety feel. Shower wasn't clean when I got there. There were some rocks/mud that I ended up rinsing off myself. Bathroom also smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. Desk lamp didn't work properly. Thin walls and thin floors/ceilings. If you're on the first floor prepare to hear everything anyone says outside as they walk by. Prepare to hear your neighbors above you and beside you and people in the halls talking. I was only there for one day, so it wasn't bad for a quick work trip, especially for the price. But it would not be an ideal situation for personal travel or longer trips.

Front desk gal could have more welcoming and enthusiastic. Room was comfortable and clean enough (despite mold on the ceiling). Breakfast was good (potatoes and sausage were dry), eggs and biscuits were really good. I appreciate the water dispenser in the lobby area. I appreciate the security guard in the parking lot.

We were in town for admitted student day at SDSU and the location of the hotel was great for that. The beds were comfortable and the room was fine, but not terribly clean when we arrived—there was a dirty sock from a previous visitor under a table in fairly plain view. Made us question the overall cleanliness. The biggest problem we had, however, was the noise. The noise from the hallway and other rooms was really bad (just people talking while walking down the hall or talking in their room or listening to TV), but the noise from outside was even worse. We heard trucks backing up a block away, noise that sounded like construction, people in the driveway, and lots of sirens. There appeared to be absolutely no noise insulation in the walls or doors and the windows were useless closed to block any noise. The food was meh, and they ran out of most everything by 7:30 am. Our final complaint is that the safe in the room was locked when we arrived and so we could not use it. Maintenance never arrived to fix it during our 3 days there. The front desk told us that they did not have a safe we could use to store our valuables. All together an unpleasant and sleepless stay.

Our room was directly across the street from a car wash that started their drying fans at eight every morning. It was loud enough to wake you. The first morning a street sweeper went by at four and someone came through with leaf blowers at seven. Breakfast was fine.

The room views are definitely not great, and the wifi in our first room didn’t work, but the staff was friendly and rectified it by allowing us to change to a different room that had good wifi. They were informative about local transportation and the room was very clean, but needs better lighting. It was also quite noisy because it’s near a hospital so there were lots of sirens.

I liked the location, friendly staff and breakfast buffet. Dislikes were the noise at night as I was near a main entrance/exit. I was also on the ground floor facing the parking lot and the late check-in people hit their remote door locks at all hours with the car horns beeping at 2, 3 ,4 am. Makes it hard to sleep. But not completely the fault of the hotel.

Problem with the staff, our key was not working the day after check in and once we alerted about the issue to front desk my husband got denied in being helped to get a replacement card, we let him know our kids are asleep inside the room that’s when he decided to help. Instead of sending maintenance to fix it while we were all gone I had to wait inside my room for an hour to have it fixed, thus making me late to a planned meeting. Manager said she was going to discount me for the inconvenience and that did not happen. Don’t waste your time here.

I don’t even know how the manager is even a manager. The manager is terrible with communication unprofessional aggressive in tone and overall just nasty when dealing with people whoever elected her as manager should be fired immediately it was absolutely that bad

I called the hotel to inquire about price prior to booking on website. The gentleman was very rude, and I had to ask pry information that should be generally offered to guests. I ended up booking in website. Upon check in he was not very pleasant at all . He never even smiled until after he handed credit card back to me and gave me room keys. When we arrived to our room, the TV wouldn’t work , due to not being connected properly. Called front desk for over 10 minutes and it rang busy. My sister had to walk to front desk and inform the same man that we didn’t know what was wrong with TV. He did come back with my sister to look at tv himself. He fixed the problem (cord that was disconnected and said here you go. Breakfast this am was good, however the sausage patty’s were disgusting and could have played frisbee with them. At checkout I went to lobby for cart to wheel our stuff to car ( due to having bad hip) we wanted to make one trip. There was only one cart for use and it was not available. Needing to check out by 11:00 am, the lady at front desk said no it’s not a available and never offered to call the room when it was available. So very poor customer service from front desk . There are several black marks on inside of bathroom door that should / could be kept cleaner in my opinion. The Dove products were nice to see.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in La Mesa Ca. The young man at the front desk Armando was very pleasant and helpful with checking me in. He really does a great job. So did Aileen when I checked out! In fact all the staff was smiling as we walked the hallways and were helpful if we had any questions on where anything was. The breakfast was pretty good! The cook was was very nice and made sure that we had all the necessities for the breakfast. They had a variety of options to eat. I highly recommend this hotel. Oh and the bed sheets and pillows were very white and clean! They smell clean!! I felt very comfortable and safe walking around with my family when I went to the breakfast area!

2 weeks prior to our stay, we requested a first floor room - we had our dog and my ninety-yr-old mother traveling with us - and we were assured we’d have a first floor room. When we checked in, we were placed on the second floor, and no first floor rooms available . At 10pm, that first night after a 7 hr drive, an alarm clock was going off in the room next door for over an hour; front desk took care of it, but, it took an hour. We never set our alarm clock, and it went off at 5AM. The next night, the alarm clock in the next door room was going off again; front desk did take care it within 30 minutes. There is no security in the parking lot but, there is a $20 fee for overnight parking. It’s not a gated lot, nor is there a security guard. What’s the $20 fee for? We’re never staying there again.

Nice and convenient hotel for our stay in San Diego. The property is a bit outdated and the laundry facilities really need to be updated — I wasn’t able to do laundry on-site and had to take it to a family member’s house. That said, the hotel staff more than made up for it. Anna and Mena both went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Mena, the general manager, was absolutely outstanding. She checked in on us daily to make sure everything was okay, and her hospitality truly made us feel at home. She not only recommended a fantastic kabob spot in El Cajon and suggested a hairstylist for my mom before the communion party, but she also went out of her way to change our room to better accommodate our needs. Mena’s genuine kindness, attention to detail, and constant willingness to help left such a positive impression on us — she is the type of manager who turns a good trip into a great one. Anna also made our stay special. She helped us find places to go sightseeing and, when we were in the lobby dressed for the communion party, she kindly offered to take photos so my whole family could be in the picture together. Their kindness and dedication really stood out and helped make our experience memorable. With some updates to the property, this could easily be a five-star stay.

The property is near everything. Perfect for families and for visiting San Diego. Located next to the trolly which takes you all over San Diego. Right across the street from Costco and several restaurants. The rooms are clean. The only complaint I would have is the water pressure being low. No one likes it being difficult to wash soap off your body. Besides that, no issues. Staff is nice and accommodating.

Staff, breakfast and everything great as usual, but the room was uncharacteristically uncomfortable. The bathroom was not clean (someone else's hair all over the floor, stains on the sink, etc.) and the bed felt broken/out of whack (partner verified this as it was normal on his side) making for I comfortable sleep. Again, not characteristic for this hotel as I've stayed here many times. I'm hoping it was a one-off experience and am still planning to give it another shot.

We were in town for admitted student day at SDSU and the location of the hotel was great for that. The beds were comfortable and the room was fine, but not terribly clean when we arrived—there was a dirty sock from a previous visitor under a table in fairly plain view. Made us question the overall cleanliness. The biggest problem we had, however, was the noise. The noise from the hallway and other rooms was really bad (just people talking while walking down the hall or talking in their room or listening to TV), but the noise from outside was even worse. We heard trucks backing up a block away, noise that sounded like construction, people in the driveway, and lots of sirens. There appeared to be absolutely no noise insulation in the walls or doors and the windows were useless closed to block any noise. The food was meh, and they ran out of most everything by 7:30 am. Our final complaint is that the safe in the room was locked when we arrived and so we could not use it. Maintenance never arrived to fix it during our 3 days there. The front desk told us that they did not have a safe we could use to store our valuables. All together an unpleasant and sleepless stay.

Friendly helpful staff. Hot breakfast was good with a lot of variety. Great blackout curtains that blocked all outside light! The parking spaces are tiny (barely big enough for a midsized sedan. Pool was smallish and in a weird location behind the hotel but fine.

The staff were all very kind and inviting! Check in was a smooth proceeds and I arrived at noon expecting to wait till 3PM but my room was ready and I was allowed in without any issues. My room was clean but then building itself is pretty rundown. The hallways are so so stuffy, not a single bit of air. The carpet all over the halls is so old and dirt smelling. The carpet in the elevator literally comes with its own bad aroma. Please get rid of it, it reeks. Breakfast was cold and limited but hey, it’s free. Parking was $20 which isn’t terrible considering it’s outside the building which the surrounding area is a bit sketchy.

Front desk gal could have more welcoming and enthusiastic. Room was comfortable and clean enough (despite mold on the ceiling). Breakfast was good (potatoes and sausage were dry), eggs and biscuits were really good. I appreciate the water dispenser in the lobby area. I appreciate the security guard in the parking lot.

Wasnt a fan of the limited parking. There was also an issue with the room not being cleaned at all or restocked in towels after the first night. Additionally, the breakfast was limited as food items ran out quickly and seem the staff wasnt prepared to the number of guests.

This is my second time in San Diego. I stayed here the first time and wanted to stay again when we came back. The hotel is clean. Rooms are very nice. Mornings you get a variety of food for breakfast, hot and cold foods. Only downside is they charge you 20$ per day to have a car there.
