EZ 8 Motel Old Town

Super bare bones. No shampoo, no conditioner, only 1 bar of soap. Bed was comfy. AC worked. Free parking. Quickly accessible to Old Town SD and public transportation to downtown and Stadiums.

Hotel was just ok, in a bad area. Lots of homeless in this area. Hotel had a lot of damage an parking was sketchy at best. Cost was very high for what we got. No wifi, you have to pay for it.

Parking is a Nightmare, WiFi isn’t free, room are ok. Tv is small, don’t expect happy employees, your under a freeway, if some car falls off, um pray, you have take your own trash out and if you need clean towels you have to the laundry room, but good news it’s in a good location

Great pool and jacuzzi I love the water so nice

Front desk help was very nice and on top of this, as was all the staff. This is a free pet, no hidden costs, hotel; a little worse for wear, but clean, very close to Old Town on Pacific Highway, adequate pool, laundry, ice, shared microwave and snack machines in the laundry room. VERY cramped parking lot, but FREE! If you are trying to find an affordable hotel in a good location that will take any size dog - This is it.

It is very convenient because of the public transportation and the free flyer bus to the airport! It has parking. You do have to pay for wifi thou.

Had a great stay. Came and used the laundry facilities at night. The security guard was watching the place, making it feel nice and safe!

I used to be a local, but moved away a few years ago and came back for a wedding. This location was perfectly central to everywhere I needed to travel. There was always enough parking for me. I appreciated that there was security present, even though I didn’t need anything.

Our stay was good, the bed was actually comfortable and the room was very clean. Except for the last day when I saw a roach crawling across the bathroom. The lobby had a funny smell and the breakfast wasn't good. Also the pool was not in working order and we were disappointed about that. This was our second choice after our first choice fell short.

It was disgusting. Dirty greasy floor. Blood stains on bathroom door and walls. Toilet didn’t flush.

Room was very dirty, toilet wouldn’t flush, shower didn’t work, very loud from neighbors, air conditioner leaking when wasn’t even on, one bed was flat and sunk in, knats, egg smell from water, hair in drain, staff were very nice though

Front desk was professional. Housekeeping came in without knocking in two separate occasions. My “no smoking” room smelled like someone had just finished smoking a cigarette when I walked in.

There was a cockroach in our room.

I would not stay here again. Unclean. Felt unsafe and the property smelled of urine. People walking in and out all night. Very noisy.

The moment I opened the door the room had a bad smell, I tried to turn on the light and to my surprise there was no light bulb. I had to walk to the bathroom and turn that light on to see. I had bought some air freshener and I sprayed the whole room and the smell wouldn’t go away, when my husband walked in said the moment I opened the door it smelled like urine. The bathroom towels were dirty and the toilet was not clean either. I don’t think they should be allowed to check out rooms in this condition and I don’t recommend this place to anyone.

Room wasn't clean weird crap on bed walls and floors some one left a bucket full of water on the fridge key card didnt work first time had to get it reformat tv didnt work shower head was off and laying on the tub mold around the tub toilet was dirty spent few minutes looking around and packed up my bags turned in my room key and left told the clerk the condition of the room

Our experience at the E-Z 8 Motel was beyond disappointing. As soon as we arrived, we were alarmed by the number of homeless individuals and people openly using drugs around the property. It immediately felt unsafe and unwelcoming. We were told our room had been “upgraded,” but it was in terrible condition. The walls were chipped and stained, with actual boogers smeared on them. A clothes hanger was barely attached to the wall, the lamp was broken and rusted, and the interior side of the door was filthy. The bathroom was just as bad — the sink was falling apart, the exhaust fan was dangling from the ceiling, and the smoke detector kept beeping, likely due to a low battery — a serious safety concern. The overall state of the room and property was unacceptable. We chose to cut our losses and left to book a room at a reputable hotel instead. If you value cleanliness, safety, or basic comfort, avoid this place at all costs

There was BEDBUGS I come here often but management was very apologetic and changed me to another room quick. An then refunded

Roach on my pillow as soon as I walked in. Smell of bleach was strong in room. Ripped towels. Staff is good. Considering the price was not much cheaper than surrounding hotels, book a hotel if you can.

Room kinda felt out dated

Room was clean but the shower did not work and the beds were uncomfortable.

Nice size room but no chair in room to sit in

For what it is, it was overpriced. There were maintenance issues. But my biggest issue was with the noises. It's next to train tracks so there were loud train nooses even into the evening. But the worst was from other guests. Car parties and excessively loud stereos from neighbouring rooms made the stay rather uncomfortable. The room had a refrigerator but no microwave. There was 1 microwave for the whole complex and it was done for at least a day.

Wonderful staff and rooms and beds are fine. Appears to have interior renovations. The floors were clean/new looking, but felt gross to walk on barefoot like a slimy feeling. Sheet was extremely thin and no comforter. Nothing major, I would happily stay here again and it was a great price and convenient location for a family Sea World trip.

Beds were very noisy. No bath tubs. No door in bathroom.

The room had no air conditioner. The shower curtain was not long enough to the floor. After getting out of the shower, the whole bathroom floor was wet. Too much noise from the nearby train.

TV not working…..remote not working. Properly is run down…..

The Front desk attendant Saturday at 2:00 was AMAZINGLY kind!!! She was the best part of the experience

The staff was courteous and accommodating. Rates were comfortable, and the stay was pleasant.

When I arrived at 9:20 there wasn't a night clerk on duty. I had to wait in the cold in a bad neighborhood for twenty minutes to get served and get my room.

I booked this hotel in advance, but when we arrived at 11:30 PM, they had no record of my reservation. The front desk employee, who mentioned being on their 3-week notice, offered little to no support. We weren’t the only ones with issues—guests who arrived before us had key cards that didn’t even work. When we finally got into our room, the door hinge was wobbly and didn’t feel secure. Within minutes, we saw a homeless person trying to enter the property and even witnessed a prostitute walking out of one of the rooms. The room itself smelled awful, and the bathroom looked like a “clean version” of something out of the Saw movies. Every time a neighbor flushed their toilet, a vomit-like odor came through our vents. I was there with my wife and kids, and I felt genuinely unsafe. This place was absolutely not family-friendly, not clean, and not welcoming. To make things worse, not only was my reservation not found, but I was also charged twice. We left by midnight—30 minutes after arriving—and will never be returning.

I called my bank ahead of travelling to make sure I could use it and use it often while in San Diego. And while I was trying to figure it out the receptionist was rude and not very understanding. So I left, found a different hotel to stay at that was clean, quite and hd a very friedly staff.

First time our card didn’t work to get in our room at check in. Went out to dinner with friends and the new card didn’t work and waited an hour to have the front desk come back to get a new card.

Every time I need a place I always choose EZ-8 because of the staff and clean rooms.

Nobody was at office to give me room, waited 45min then took a cab to another hotel.

The noise was rowdy until about 1am, when I complained to MICHAEL (night clerk) he told me “if the noise is really bothering you, you can call the police”. I told him “that’s YOUR job”. Kids were running races in parking lot and yelling and screaming. The adults with these kids were smoking blunts and standing on the stairs. At 6am the same people were talking loud and playing their music very loud, with a BOOM BOOM BOOM, right in front of our room. Called the front desk and was told they were busy and they would come out as soon as possible (which never happened). Second night was better, noise quieted down at about 11:30pm.

Lots of homeless

There are lots of homeless people camping on the streets by the hotel. The hotel itself sits underneath a freeway interchange and next to railroad tracks so it can get a little noisy at times.

budget, convenience

Rooms were clean but could use so refreshing and nicer towels. It is centrally located which was fantastic. It’s close to freeways but did not hear much traffic but the train does go by blasting the horn even at nighttime as a warning. Staff was very nice and helpful

The property is close to old-town central transportation and to old-town shops and restaurants. And a short drive to the beach and other San Diego tourist attractions. But to walk over there you have to pass through a very sketchy area. The hotel in general feels dirty and the rooms have a heavy smoke smell. The pool is under repair. What a bummer especially when I was there with kids.

Hotel is on a rough street, lots of homeless. Fwy goes over hotel and on the side, railroad tracks directly behind hotel, train blares horn. Room was not upkept holes in drywall. Would not stay here again.
