We've stayed here before and love it! Great breakfast and very large hot tub for relaxing. It's only a block from the beach and our room had a oceanfront view of Morro Rock. I would recommend asking for a third floor room though. We were on the second floor and there was noise and creaking floorboards in the room above us. But a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return!

The parking is absolutely terrible. There are spaces for several cars in the carports, but it's such tight quarters you're better off parking on the street. There are a half dozen spaces in the open, if you're fortunate enough to get there first. The good news is parking on the street is safe as I've not heard of any recent problems.

I purposely chose this hotel for the spa. When I arrived the spa was "out of service " for the 3 days I was there. Which was disappointing because I would of chosen another hotel if I would of known. Also breakfast was ok. The turkey sausage was just too processed, same with egg. Makes it not worth it really....

Best value for the area that offers a comfortable stay, simple breakfast, and good location. Front desk was hospitable and friendly. Beds were comfy and room clean. It’s a beach style property so very minimal but actually had a big spa that the kids were able to enjoy when it got too cold outside. We never used our car and could walk everywhere from the hotel. It was sunny during our stay so the room could get a bit stuffy in the morning/day but we left the patio open and they have a fan inside to help. A plus was having a convenience charger!

Gave this place a 2 star only because we had an ocean view. The room had a weird odor I couldn't identify. Everything was old, small, low, and cramped. The window in the bathroom faced the hallways (they all did) so if someone took a dump, it would smell up the hallway. The top of the blanket on bed was itchy. Just was not impressed in the least and will not be staying there again.

Wasn’t worth the cost. The best part was the ocean view but there is no AC. There was a fan in the closet. The room was extremely stuffy and it got quite hot with the sun coming straight through the sliding glass door. Plus the heat from the spa below us seems to make its way in the room. The spa had been closed most of Saturday due to needing a jet cover repaired. Our screen on the sliding door kept popping off the railing. There were long black hairs on our towels. I will say Harry at the front desk was very nice during our stay.

There was a stench in the room. Such bad smell that i couldn't even sleep. I opened the balcony door, but that made us cold. We didnt leave the hotel because there are few in the area with elevator. We are elderly. It would be the last time i will come near this hotel. They have the nerve to open these filthy and possibly health hazardous conditions to the public. I hope it was not mold that i breathing. Because after my complaint to the front desk the next morning, the clerk told me that they had cleaned the carpets. And maybe, they hadn't dried. Worst hotel ever.

Excellent property one block from Morro Rock. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The room was large and very clean. Refrigerator was also clean and worked well. The hot tub was very spacious and clean. Overlooked Morro rock. Breakfast was hot and had many options. Many restaurants within walking distance. We will definitely stay here again!

Upon arrival, staff were very friendly and welcoming! They even let us check in a little early! Rooms were clean and smelled really good! I even had an interaction with a staff member after check in and she was so friendly. The hotel is just a 2 blocks from downtown and definitely walking distance! We will be back! 10/10!

The Spa exceeded my expectations in size and was well-ventilated, providing a nice environment for relaxation. While the breakfast options were satisfactory, the breakfast area was quite small. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible, being overly watered down and quite unpleasant. The room wasn't cleaned thoroughly, with some spots overlooked. The closet door had splatter stains, and there was popcorn on top of the wall between the restroom and the bed; additionally, it was very dusty. They also failed to check the shower supplies, as the body wash container was completely empty. More attention to detail is needed for the rooms.

Rooms are clean but Bathroom is tiny, barely room to get dried after a shower. Buffet breakfast room also very small and not really large enough for the number of guests, we had to wait to get in for breakfast. Overpriced for what it was but served its purpose as somewhere to sleep.

There is NO AC in the rooms!!! This is a hard no for me and if I read the reviews sooner, I wouldnt have stayed here. It was super hot in the rooms, which forced us to sleep with the patio door open. The issue with that was the noise. Every time someone checked in at the front desk, you could hear the employee talking loudly explaining the property to them. The rooms were small. Everything was tight. Breakfast was decent. The AC is a deal breaker for me. Wont stay in again.

The hotel was nice and staff also very nice. The mattress on the bed however needs to be replaced. It sunk in quite a bit where people sit on the edge. My husband was very uncomfortable. My but and hips sunk in so wasn't quite as bad for me but it was very awkward. Also it was summer and we could have really used an air conditioner.

Very nice young lady handled the check in. Very nice. Room was very noisy, very thin walls could hear conversations next door, and EVERY step step taken upstairs. The door was not plumb to the opening, hence a continual draft and whistiling from there. Mattress was lumpy. Room was clean,very pleasant staff. Disappointing.

View of Morro Rock and Bay from the room, beautiful view with morning coffee :-) Staff was so kind to allow check-in past their office hours. I had no signal on highway 1 and could not talk to them, but they made sure they prepared a note and lockbox specifically for me and provided me code over call, it was so quick, the ladies at the counter in the morning were super polite professional and helpful. I would recommend staying here and will do so again.

The San Marcos is an affordable hotel in a perfect location to park the car and walk everywhere in town. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the ocean view rooms have a great view. It is an easy to maneuver hotel with free and very close parking. The included breakfast is also a quick bite to start your day.

A wonderful stay. The hostess at check was very welcoming, making for a great stay. Within walking distance of some very nic restaurants along the waterfront. We asked for full room makeup and it was provided with a smile. The property was neat, clean and felt secure. Parking was a combination of covered and open, was in an interior space, sort of a compound surrounded by the hotel., Breakfast was good, but not hot enough, but easily remedied. We, using the tray provided, put eggs, sausage and a pastry on a plate and took it to our room and microwaved it for a minute.

They have a nice indoor spa that can hold many people, like a mini super heated pool. But it's only open until 830. Also, they were supposed to have breakfast open at 6am but it wasn't open until closer to 7.

Great location! Staff was very friendly. The room was a nice size and clean. Breakfast had reheated egg omelets, turkey sausage. Waffle maker, juice, coffee, toast, pastries and oatmeal with fixings. Bed was a little hard for me. No outdoor sitting area to enjoy the view or weather. Plenty of onsite parking.
