Booked this place because of beautiful exterior appearance and seemingly good reviews. Be aware of what to expect. Negatives added up and here they are: the hot tub water was continually dark green in color with algae especially on various pool walls which made it disgusting to even think about using by anyone ; you had to ask for your room to be made up daily; they offered a small breakfast but coffee wasn’t available until 7:30; there was a $30 charge to check in one hour & 30 minutes early; a deluxe room had no AC and the noise on Main Street that the balcony faced made for difficulty sleeping so opening that door for cool air was a double edged sword; hot & cold water varied in long lengths of time to reach the room; no elevator and very limited front parking means get there early or be prepared for long hauls. This hotel was a big disappointment especially for the money spent on that ‘deluxe’ room.

Well, it was one of our favorite places to stay because we love the roman spa. However, this time we both had a horrible allergic reaction, burning eyes, sneezing, coughing, and itchy. The spa was much greener than we have ever seen it. I know that it was the spa because after we showered it diminished. When I told the front desk they said they were sorry but it gets checked every hour so its fine. We also had a very rude greeting by a woman who was obviously getting off of a long day. Her words to us were someone will be with you in a mooment, no eye contact - no smile - no anything other than she was obviously ready to go home. Also the wine and cheese reception is no longer which is a bummer, and the breakfast was missing the nutella.- minor but since I was writing the review, I thought I would include it. The property in itself is unique. So much detail in the rooms. The spa is large, indoor and unique with pillars and tile. Free parking and free breakfast is a must for us when we stay somewhere, so we're happy it has both of these! Very close to the bay. Clean and very spacious rooms. Gym and sitting area for 24 hour coffee.

I highly recommended staying here if you havent. They are very friendly and created an excellent stay for us. The surrounding area is neighborhood and other hotel/motels with such a quiet vibe. They also have breakfast which is a huge plus in my book.the rooms were amazing. The hot tub was the highlight of the trip. Would stay again.

Upon check in, we were informed that the spa had not been working. It never worked during our stay Sunday through Thursday. The outdoor access door (south entrance) to the stairs to the 2nd floor where our room was located, did not work the entire time of our stay. This meant having to go through the lobby to get the stairs To go to the 2nd floor.

Great hotel close to downtown/beach and rock. Breakfast was basic but adequate. The only feedback I would give the hotel concerns the gym. It doesn't open until 8/9am - which is a bit late. I would suggest keeping it open 24 hrs as your competitors do.

This trip with masterpiece hotel started as a problem days before we even got there. I was trying to pay with an online card, and they ran the wrong card. When we get there, the lady at the front desk isn’t nice but isn’t rude. She wasn’t very happy with having to give us an upgrade because she could not find our reservation I had booked a month before. Our room had hair all over the bathroom, and there was still trash on the floor. The spa in the bottom basement was filthy, it literally had dirt in the bottom of the spa. The water was green and did not smell like chlorine at all. There was dangerous building materials outside of the balcony. I got a rash from God knows what. Honestly, I should’ve stayed at Motel six. We were looking forward to staying here for years and it was very disappointing. I hate giving bad reviews, but this was probably one of my worst stays anywhere.

We booked this hotel because of its' location and the jacuzzi. However, while the room was nice and clean--the Jacuzzi/hot tub was not. It was full of algae. It was very dirty and not well maintained. I don't think we will stay here again next time, unless the jacuzzi is cleaned.

honestly was very disappointed with cleanliness in my room considering we spent over $325 for one night. There were ANTS all over the room! we chose the room with the spa for an extra nice night but the tub had ants crawling all over it. I wish i could leave pictures.

I liked the new construction and style of the hotel. I also liked the breakfast included with our stay. My daughter and I especially liked the “Dove” products in the shower and handwashing area. I did not like having the coffee, refrigerator, and microwave so close in proximity to the toilet and bathroom area. I think it would be better on the table in the large room space. Also, the shower curtain had gross remnants (a booger) of a previous guest on it. Was it not washed? Ewww!

Not bad but not great. Had everything we needed for a 1 night stay, but nothing special. There was a wet spot around the edge of the carpet at the entry to the bathroom. Not sure if something spilled before we got there or if it was from a leak, or something else, but wet carpet is never a great sign of cleanliness. Would probably not stay here again.

Our suite was very nice and spacious with a private patio overlooking Morro Bay. Very comfortable bed and beautiful amenities such as a dual vanity, tiled shower and separate bathtub. The staff was attentive. The property is a close walk to downtown and restaurants. We will definitely return

Great location! Walking distance to Embarcadero and downtown. Staff is wonderful; always helpful. Continental breakfast was a nice bonus. Roman hot tub was a nice treat after sightseeing all day. One negative thing: we were on the first floor; we can hear heavy footsteps from the above floor.

Cons: limited breakfast options, coffee a little watered down (wouldn’t be a bad idea to have coffee available all day even if it’s watered down), a little wear and tear on the building, walls are thin (I could hear the conversations in the room next to me in detail or they were just really loud talkers and I could hear the kids running around in the room above me), small parking area, and exiting the parking lot can get wonky. Pros: rooms are pretty big, bed is comfortable, close enough to the beach, close to the highway, staff is cool, showers get extra hot (if that’s your thing), hygiene products (body wash, shampoo, etc) available in showers, and some rooms have walk out balconies but the area isn’t really balcony view worthy.

Why the hotel is so cheap and not provide with a decent internet. We stayed here many times but in the last 3 days was BAD. We only have 3 MBPS not enough for email let alone other things. If the management is not smart to upgrade...we can find better places. Internet is IMPORTANT everywhere.

The room was really big and really clean. The bed was a 9 out of 10. The first night, the people upstairs were pretty loud but the subsequent nights were really quiet. I stayed here 2 years ago and the Wi-Fi was an issue. They've really upgraded it so that it's really fast.

We got in a little early and my husband needed to have a lie down so asked if we could check in early they wanted to charge $35.00 for an early check in never had this happen before and I travel monthly. Still believing a day is 24hours long I think this is outrageous and I am still angry.

Waited 30 mins to check in. No staff at 6:30. Also got the wrong room. In the morning I watched another employee take a bloody pillow a gust gave him (he slipped at the jacuzzi and hurt himself..) and toss it in the back and say “she’ll clean it. IT’S CALLED OXI CLEAN” Pretty sure the sanitary solution is the trash. When this guy walked me back to my room to retrieve a left behind item he said the following…”he was probably drunk or stoned. He should’ve told me last night..it’s his fault”. He then told me his biggest problem was the “terrorists, excuse me, middle eastern guests upstairs. They’re worse than the French…Chinese are the same too”. I told him to stop talking. I’m not racist and he’s terrible. He followed me outside and gave a limp apology. I told him to not speak to me again. I’m so glad my daughter wasn’t there to hear it. NO NOT STAY HERE. I’ll be filing a report with the BBB.

Our room was situated downstairs, so there was some foot traffic on the room above us which was to be expected... However, the lady in the front office had a very sour attitude and was abrupt when asked for more napkins at the morning breakfast. Not the kind of person a property needs to be greeting guests aa they arrive.. left a bad taste in my mouth. However, i did see her perk up when speaking to a male guest.. interesting..

The hotel was really nice. I had a spacious room, deep bathtub, comfortable bed and breakfast was included. Check in and check was quick with outstanding customer service. Misty at the front desk was a sweetheart.

Well, it was one of our favorite places to stay because we love the roman spa. However, this time we both had a horrible allergic reaction, burning eyes, sneezing, coughing, and itchy. The spa was much greener than we have ever seen it. I know that it was the spa because after we showered it diminished. When I told the front desk they said they were sorry but it gets checked every hour so its fine. We also had a very rude greeting by a woman who was obviously getting off of a long day. Her words to us were someone will be with you in a mooment, no eye contact - no smile - no anything other than she was obviously ready to go home. Also the wine and cheese reception is no longer which is a bummer, and the breakfast was missing the nutella.- minor but since I was writing the review, I thought I would include it. We also requested a room looking out to the rock and paid for that , but did not receive it and the response was - I don't know who said that but your room is here and we cant change that.

Sheets on pullout had brown stains. There are no staff around for any guests needs after 9pm. There was no one attending the desk at check out time. The TV had no signal. The ceiling fan chains are broken so you can’t adjust the speed. It’s just a place to sleep and shower.

Great location! Walking distance to Embarcadero and downtown. Staff is wonderful; always helpful. Continental breakfast was a nice bonus. Roman hot tub was a nice treat after sightseeing all day. One negative thing: we were on the first floor; we can hear heavy footsteps from the above floor.

Beautiful hotel! The art-filled hallways make you feel like you're walking through a gallery. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. We especially appreciated the porcelain mugs and real glassware instead of plastic. Plus, the short walk to the shore is a wonderful bonus!

Cons: limited breakfast options, coffee a little watered down (wouldn’t be a bad idea to have coffee available all day even if it’s watered down), a little wear and tear on the building, walls are thin (I could hear the conversations in the room next to me in detail or they were just really loud talkers and I could hear the kids running around in the room above me), small parking area, and exiting the parking lot can get wonky. Pros: rooms are pretty big, bed is comfortable, close enough to the beach, close to the highway, staff is cool, showers get extra hot (if that’s your thing), hygiene products (body wash, shampoo, etc) available in showers, and some rooms have walk out balconies but the area isn’t really balcony view worthy.

Many breakfast items were gone by 9 am (Oatmeal, breads, eggs), and the half pot of oatmeal was only prepared one time and once it is gone it is gone (got up earlier the second day and found the pot half full), internet was like dial up...SOOO slow. The front desk didn't even have time to unlock the fitness room as she said she was so busy and alone. Check in was a bit long with the talkative receptionist...way to chatty about nothing!!! DON'T get a room near the dining area....SOO NOISY in the morning with talking and chairs scooting along the bare floors. Would NOT recommend.

Our room wasn’t ready at check-in time. When we got in the room, the fireplace didn’t work, the overhead fan didn’t work and the bed was horrible (we could feel the springs in the mattress.) The balcony that was supposed to look out at Morro Bay rock was blocked by a tree. Continental breakfast was a breakfast croissant or oatmeal…every day. Not much of a choice. They did fix the fan and the fireplace. The room was clean.

We loved our stay here. The staff was friendly and helpful, made an excellent recommendation to eat dinner at Dorn’s Seafood. The room was very comfortable and clean, the only thing was not being able to control the temperature in the room, we would have preferred it be a tad cooler. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
