I didnt like the fact that we had to pay 22 dollars per night for parking. I thought the parking would be for free since I booked a room there. Even though everything else was great, I will most likely not go back because I would have to pay for the expensive ass parking.

It was a pleasant but short stay. The staff that we encountered was friendly and helpful. The air conditioner worked great. It’s in a good location. The property is secure. The breakfast wasn’t great but it’s a hotel so it wasn’t expected to be. The parking is tight. If you have a big truck or SUV it’s tricky to find a spot that you will fit into and park in a way that you will be able to get out of it too without blocking someone else in

Staff was friendly however the hotel was just average. The rooms were clean but some of the outlets did not work, and most of the equipment in the gym was broken .. 2 of the elliptical machines and 1 treadmill did not work. Location was good ... walking distance to most places.

Everything else was excellent, except our room smelled very bad, almost like a strong smell of mildew. Lucky for us the weather was good, because we ended up sleeping with our window open for that reason.

The hotel was what you would expect from a HI Exptess. Room was clean and functional. Breakfast was much better than expected. Variety and presentation was great. Pool and lobby was nice. Big checker board in the lobby was fun. So my low review is due to waking up in the morning and finding a zillion ants in our room. Totally disgusting. The hotel was overbooked and could not provide us with another room so we had no option but to check out. NOT a good experience

Pro: The staff at the front desk, DeShawn, was very pleasant and efficient. The housekeeper who responded to my request to spray air freshener in the room came promptly and thoroughly went around the room, even sprayed the grill of the air conditioner. Con: The room looks clean though quite old. But what really disappointed me was the very musty smell of the room. The bathroom smells better than the bedroom. I asked the cleaning lady outside to please spray with air freshener which she promptly complied with. Since I’m just staying for the night I didn’t want to bother asking to move to a different room.

Room was a real disappointment. Large stain on chair, filthy carpet, rusty screws everywhere, wallpaper peeled back, bathroom ceramic floor tile grout filthy and ceiling vent hanging from 1 drywall screw. The cast iron tub has rust on the outside. Some of the valance curtains were super wrinkled. The maintenance of the unit was bad enough that I took pictures to forward to Corporate. The cost is being charged because of the location, still could have been clean even though it is small and outdated. I will give props for the included breakfast.

There Just seem to be an ant problem. We noticed the first night and told the front desk the next morning, asked if they could spray. Then we say the ants again the next day. Other than that had a good stay.

Great budget option. Staff was exceptional, very friendly and approachable, The hotel is older and not plush or fancy but it was clean. Our room was one of the few with a partial view of the harbor. The view was nice but the lighting from the front of the building wasn’t blocked well by the drapes. The window was older and traffic noise was very noticeable. The bed was comfortable. We didn’t hear anyone in the rooms near us. There’s a pool and hot tub but they are tiny (1 person fits in the hot tub and the pool is about 6ft by 12ft) so don’t book if you’re wanting pool time. It was clean and in good shape, just minimal. Overall good place to stay with a fantastic location close to the boat harbor and the beaches and even easily driveable to Anaheim. Happy with our stay.

The hotel itself was good. The room was pretty clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is located on a pretty busy road and there are busy restaurants across the street. They are convenient for dining. But there was a loud machine sound, possibly the a/c power under our room that came on and off all day and night. At first we thought there was a semi running in the parking lot next door. But the sound kept going. It did make it difficult to sleep.

The bed was terrible, squeaked everytime we moved. Even my 17 year old nephew complained. A/C was super loud. Could hear every move the neighbors upstairs made. The staff was nice. Hotel was clean. Food was good.

I liked the lighting in the bathroom. I could put my makeup on. I liked the shower head. The beds and pillows were good. The breakfast was great. What I didn’t like was the extremely noisy air conditioner. It was Very loud. The bathroom needed a shelf under the counter to set bathroom bags etc. The facility was pretty dated but the important things were good and at a good price, although, if I didn’t wear earplugs already every night I would definitely need them in this room if I wanted air or heat on.

You guys double booked my room consequently, when I got there there, I had no place to stay. After a long day that’s not the word you wanna hear. I was rebooked at another hotel about 20 minutes away, but it did not include parking or included breakfast. So I had to pay an additional $60 to cover that

We had a lovely warm welcome on arrival and throughout our stay the staff were all really helpful and friendly. Our room was huge and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Although we overlooked a main road the room was very quiet. The free breakfast each morning was great with a lot of different options. We used the pool and the gym and both were clean and well maintained. The on-site guest laundry room was a great bonus for us on our travels. We were able to walk to Balboa Island but there is a free trolley at the weekend if you need it and you get it from the back of the carpark around the first corner from the hotel. We also walked to Fashion island but be warned ..... it's a loooong walk! You can get a bus across the road from the hotel which will get you there much quicker! If you want a pretty boutique style hotel this isn't for you but if you want a hotel that provides great value for money, has all of the facilities you need, is well located and provides a warm welcome then this HIE is for you. If we were in Newport Beach again we'd be more than happy to stay here again.

The description said housekeeping but we didn’t have our room cleaned at all. I asked the front desk but unfortunately it was the day before we left. We didn’t have the do not disturb card on the door. Baffled on this one. Although the location is perfect for us, I’ll look into staying somewhere else next time

Didn’t allow for late check out even though I’m an IHG member. Check out time is noon yet housekeeping started knocking at my door at 6:30am and came back knocking at 8:30am, 10:00am, and 11:51am. I had been traveling for a long time and would be traveling again for the next two days so it was inconvenient that my sleep was interrupted continuously. At first I assumed responsibility because I didn’t have the do not disturb sign on my door, but even after putting the sign on my door at 8:30am, housekeeping disregarded it and kept knocking. So disrespectful and inconsiderate!

Staff greeted us with friendly smiles and were very kind. Once inside the room, it was very clean and we had a nice view. Didn’t get to use the pool because it was storming, but it looked great, perfect size and clean. The breakfast ~ so many varieties to choose from, everything was stocked well and delicious. Especially the pancake machine!! Again, the food area and seating was immaculate. We will visit her again.

Not sure if I missed the fine print, but depending on what type of room you select, determines your check in. I booked a “standard room” and when we went to check in, they said they would give us “first available” which was only 30 min later than when we arrived. Super clean, breakfast had a lot of options, close to Balboa Pier and other amazing restaurants. Would definitely return.

The hotel was fine, no complaints. It is located on a six lane beach highway and drivers speed (fly by). It is difficult to get in and out of the parking lot due to this. My car was totaled by a speeding truck on the last day of vacation. Thank god everyone walked away. When I arrived, I saw the dangerous location and I was worried. I should have followed my gut feeling and take the money hit and go back home.

It was all good, except the in-room coffee was terrible. The free breakfast was okay, except that coffee was also terrible. They are using a brand of coffee that is so bitter it is undrinkable, and the temperature is lukewarm. Absolutely undrinkable and gross. But otherwise the place is fine.
