The Balboa Bay Resort is a lovely and welcoming resort. Comfortable beds, exceptional care for the details you want them to care about: cleanliness, zen atmospheres, and courtesy. The resort is close to shopping, Newport Beach, fantastic Italian restaurants and everything Southern California has to offer. Loved to borrow the bikes and go to Balboa Island, that was really fun. Pool was great and staff there was excellent. Loved that they brought in a DJ one afternoon. Bed was super comfortable.

Every staff member from valet to concierge to housekeeping to wait staff are so friendly and nice! Resort is in a beautiful area. Seafood brunch on the water on Sundays is amazing. Breakfast at A O Restaurant was also amazing. We also had drinks there in the evening at their bar. Gym facility has a Peloton and Lululemon mirror! I got a fantastic blow out at their Dry Bar and the best 90 minute facial ever at their spa! We will definitely come back. Hopefully in warmer weather so we can use their swimming pool and beautiful cabanas!

Hotel is very nice, it’s in a great location and the food at the onsite restaurant is excellent! Just stayed two nights over Labor Day weekend, they were super busy and we were still able to check in 2 hrs early when the property was sold out. Stayed in a single king bed room on the ground floor. Room was nice and clean and comfortable. The hotel has a free car service onsite that we used multiple times to go back and forth between the property and balboa island. My only complaint about the property is the close proximity to Newport west coast highway, from our room We could hear super cars speeding up and down the road at all hours of the night.

The pool was great, very large and not chlorinated. However, at some times of day, there was loud music playing. The room was nice, but they need to update the mattresses and pillows to be a luxury hotel. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, one amenity that would have been helpful was not functioning as promised was the shuttle that takes you anywhere in a two-mile radius. It stops at 8, which is inconvenient if you are going out for dinner, and on the day we wanted to go to the beach, it didn't start running until 3 pm. So you have to have an Uber budget. Finally, the WiFi needs an upgrade especially around the lobby and drop-off area. So overall, we were underwhelmed. It's nice but....

The staff were all very super friendly and accommodating. There was a problem with toilet and they fixed it right away. The massage was great. The food was average but really expensive. For that price I expect more. If you are there for a longer stay I suggest eating elsewhere. But hope you have a car as there really is no where walkable. And my main complaint is the parking. $38 a day yes you heard me right to SELF park behind the hotel. That was $152 for us to park! Outside, openair in the elements, there is no garage. That in my opinion is pure GREED! And I personally would not go back foe that reason and why I rated it lower. But to each his or her own.

Amazing hotel, attention to detail was excellent. Self parking area got a little full at times and struggled to find a parking space with the many business and private functions that was taking place at the hotel. However, highly recommend to stay.

Aside from good view of the harbor, we found this hotel as way overpriced and overrated. 1) hot water is at best on and off ...had to take quick cold showers a few times 2) very limited food options...over priced restaurant stops serving bkfst at 11:00 am and the cafe is limited to coffee and pastries and closes early pm. nearest starbucks is 1 or 2 miles away. At prices this hotel charges, one expects 24x7 access to fruits, snacks, tea, coffee, soda, etc... 3) sheet was stained 4) sofa bed back had issues and wouldnt recline all the way 5) the toilet flush was broken 6) internet access is spotty 7) the self parking costs too much pushing everyone to do valet 8) At roughly 1600 per night (not including resort fees and valet pkg) , this place is 4x the value it delivers Net - Nice location and nice view of harbor but pretty much everything else is at best one star. Way way overpriced for what it delivers.

Waterpressure low. Soap scums in the bathtub. Only one bathrobe available. Before checkout time, housekeeping knocked and when we were slow to get out of bed opened the door. We only stayed for 1 night so we couldnt understand why anybody would come in for housekeeping before our checkout time at 11am

From being greeted by valet, the polite check in staff, our beautiful - shiny clean room, staffs politeness...this hotel experience was better than our last experience at The Grand California at Disneyland. Great solid 4 star accommodations. Everyone was very nice and professional. The room had a huge bathroom which helped a lot with having two adult daughters traveling with me. The view of the marina was well worth the higher price. Only thing missing that would make it perfect would be more grounds to walk but I expect that only at 5 star resorts. I would definitely come back if I were to come back to the area for busy exploration of the area (which there are plenty) but not as a place to spend a lot of time at during your vacation.

All I can say is if you can get the Harbor view room I highly recommend it! Beautiful views of the harbor, watching yachts and crew teams sipping my morning coffee on our balcony was a highlight. The staff onsite is the nicest group of people we have ever met. Valet, front desk, bellhop, and the concierge all exceeded expectations. I have stayed with my family at a few luxury resorts in the Newport Beach area and Balboa Bay Resort is hands down our favorite of them all. We will be back guaranteed.

The air conditioning didn’t work in the room. It was 80 all night. The hairdryer also started smoking and filling the room full of smoke. When I told the front desk they only refunded me the resort fee of like $10 for a $600 room, won’t ever stay here again very disappointed

Rooms at the property are amazing. Super comfortable and with a lot of space. Bathrooms have good space too, with 2 sinks, shower and separate bathtub, and a separate small room for toilet. Staff at the hotel is super friendly and super helpful. The concierge gave us recommendations about things to do and places to eat and everything was excellent as they described it. We will stay there again!!! Amazing place and amazing STAFF!!!

The air conditioning in my room was broken! My room was 85 degrees and when I asked for someone to come help me they called saying they were working on it but never came and it never got fixed! They only took off $40.00 1 day of self parking in which the lot was completely full and had to park on street til a space later that evening opened up! They were nice but did not solve any of the issues and never followed up about my very hot room!!!

Check in was a disaster as we were caught in (what the front desk clerk described) as a "shift change" and therefore no one knew if our room was ready or not even though we received TWO calls saying it was? Upon check out, our car batter was dead because valet personal left something on in the car. They ended up jumping our car with their truck. Ford conformed our, less than a year old battery, is now fine. A $45 room credit that was supposed to be part of our room package was only applied to ONE drink. Expensive drink! All this to say, beautiful resort with nice location. Just really, really, bad training of staff and poor follow through on service. Not good for the price paid.

Read your invoices carefully. Our stay was pleasant until we found dine-in rom charges which never happened. They 'investigated' it for a week and procured a bill with our room number but we were at the pool by the time that is on the bill. So someone messed up or used our room number (with a very generic signature) and we were told the charges stay. It's not the amount of the charge but experience that ruined the whole thing. Now that I do not trust them, I have been asking for the itemized final bill and have yet to receive. I wish I had read other reviews, I wouldn't be as unpleasantly surprised at least. It seems to be their business.

We booked this hotel for a family trip, hoping to celebrate our 19th anniversary while enjoying some quality time together. As business owners with busy schedules, we were looking forward to a relaxing stay. However, our experience was less than ideal. The check-in process was frustrating. We requested a room with a decent view in honor of our anniversary, but were given what seemed to be the worst room at the resort—right on top of the garage with a view of the street. When we asked to change rooms, we were told it would cost an additional $50 per night and that the only available option had a king-size bed and a rollaway. We reluctantly agreed, but upon seeing the room, we felt unwelcome. Paying $600 per night and having to sleep on a rollaway bed was not what we had in mind. Adding to our frustration, the shower head in the room was broken. At this point, we decided it wasn’t worth staying at a resort where service seemed to be an afterthought. We contacted hotels.com to cancel the booking, and while their customer service rep tried to help, nothing changed until the hotel manager, Jack, got involved. He was the only person who genuinely cared about our situation, and I truly appreciate his hospitality. He provided us with a better room and kindly asked us to stay, which we did. Overall, the hotel has a great location, but I can only give it 3 stars for the service. It wasn’t about the cost; it was about level of service we received for the price we paid.

Gorgeous , immaculate clean hotel. Problem with the system at check in not accepting my cards but my banks saying they had and removing money. Ended in a discussion with the on site manager who basically threatened to kick me out of the hotel. (I presume they thought I couldn’t pay). I was very angry with this response from them. After this , they realised their mistake and offered a couple of drinks as an apology. Just didn’t sit well with me. Won’t be going back. Even though I do understand the original problem was a technology one.

Amazing stay- great service! The front desk manager went out of his way to find us the perfect room, even though they were fully sold out. Hotel staff were great, pool service girls were not that great. The whole point was to relax and get great service by the pool, that did not happened. We even tipped them on the side to see if we could make them feel better about their job but we continue to get the cold shoulder and lack of customer service. Everybody else such as bus boy, front desk, housekeeping were awesome!

Really nice hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms, and some really nice touches (free bottle of wine of arrival, turn down service, flexible cleaning schedule). We did not make any use of the facilities and so the resort fee seemed a bit of a waste (but that’s on us, not the hotel!). Location was OK but not super close to the beach or pier (20-40 mins walk to restaurants, bars, shops, etc).

We love the experience. We have been there many times and love the water. We hosted cocktail hours there for many years when we lived and worked locally. The only issue we had this visit was the food. We felt the food was marginal. The service was great as usual and overall had a good visit.
