Super noisy as hotel faced very busy street - hotels solution: “we have complimentary ear plugs and a ‘noise machine’”. Pillows were terrible and water pressure not great. Pool looked dirty. Extreme amount of noise from rooms above and around our room.

Updated property and the staff was very nice. Like the ease of check in but the hotel was noisy! From other guests to traffic. Parking was a fee I wasn’t aware of until it was time to check in. Also small parking lot! Amenities were self serve.

This property is on the main road there pack really good ear plugs for the road noise but also if you have a floor above you. Units 101-104 are basically on/below the sidewalk next to the main road. It’s basement feeling. No room cleaning unless you pay $35. Parking is very tight on property but they have extra space on the other side of the street. This costs you $16 per day. Pool heater did not work. Checkin was delayed for 1.5-2hrs as the key pads to the “2” units they had available did not work and the calling Center did not have the authority to open the room remotely. They compensated me with free parking. There are no dibs on site to help in these situations which is absurd. So for a whole week with 2 people we had the stress on one fob and NO working key pad and a staff that had no other options for us if we lose that fob or left it in the room by mistake. This is like a huge Airbnb with owners putting up their units in the rental pool.

Good value but the $20 per day parking fee added to the cost. No housekeeping services, so I had to budget my towel usage over 5 days. Coffee maker was crap, and the did replace it for me on the last day. Overall, it was fine, and the location was the best perk.

That photo is NOT the Newport Beach location. Staff was pleasant but lazy. Luggage cart was "missing" and employee "just didn't know where it could be" and did not look for it! Parking rate jumping to $30/night from $20/night is extreme. Still, sign reads park at your own risk. Refrigerator froze bottled water, could not adjust that temp.

Convenient location a block from the beach. Pleasant room overlooking PC Highway. I had a partial ocean view. Bed was quite comfortable. Several nice restaurants within walking. Only one small error in the Sonder app. When I checked in online I was told I could pay $20 for a reserved parking spot and that I would be assigned a spot number. On arrival I found that is incorrect. It costs $20 to park in the lot but you are supposed to scan a QR code at the front desk to register your car so they know it's paid. No assigned spot and parking is first come first served. However Bryce at the front desk refunded my parking because I was given incorrect information about a reserved spot.

Not bad of a stay! Everything was pretty streamlined as long as you download the app and do your check in ahead of time. Parking is super tight and compact but we never had issues getting a spot. We stayed on the 4th floor facing the highway and it really wasn’t too noisy at all. They do provide ear plugs and a white noise machine in case you need. The property is definitely dated and can use some better deep cleaning. The bathroom in particular had multiple dirt spots in the shower which was off putting. Walls are pretty thin so if someone on the other side of the wall or in the hall is noisy, you can hear it. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible stay. Loved that the beach is right across the road. And close drive to multiple restaurants and shops.

Super clean rooms. Clean comfy beds. Air conditioning was great. So nice to have a mini fridge in the room and quick to run down to the lounge and use microwaves when needed. Pool was so nice and clean. Literally across the street from the beach. All good things to say about our stay!

Walking into the room was alarming. The comforter was all balled up and looked awful. Black feet print in the tub. Looked like it wasn’t even attempted to be cleaned. Then hair in the bed. We lasted 15 mins in the room and checked right back out. We were told we couldn’t get a refund for the first night because we had already ‘checked in’

I didn’t read the reviews before booking. There was hair in my shower. But I just removed it. The tub has mold all around it. And when I misplaced a bottle of hair gel, I looked under the bed and grabbed a half used bottle of something really gross that can’t be named here from the previous occupant. Under the bed was disgusting on another level. The hotel needs to fire the cleaning staff and start over. The photos are super misleading. Would not stay here again, there are better places for the price.

The hotel was about the worst value for money that I have ever stayed at. The location was all it had going for it. They did not clean the rooms in fact if you wanted them clean you had to schedule it ahead of time and pay an extra $35 for each cleaning. I would never stay there again.

So close to the beach. Walked over in less than 6 minutes. Safe area. Thin walls & I heard my neighbor snoring through the wall the first night. Other than that no complaints. I’m between Newport & Huntington piers. Not walkable to either but easily accessible w a $9 Uber. White noise machine, coffee maker, fridge & tevo in the room. Many walkable restaurants & coffee shops.building has many convenient exits and an easy place for Ubers to pick you up or drop you. Good value for proximity to the beach.

Enjoyed my stay at Sonder. Great location, was able to walk to the beach and a nearby coffee shop. Short drives to the city. Parking was a bit tight. Employees were all very nice and welcoming. The lighting in the rooms are not so great, but overall had a good time for my short stay.

This is a small hotel. Clean and organized. Rooms are small. However, you have everything you need to get by. Parking like any where at the beach is small. I gotta say my family and I were happy because is conveniently located a block from the beach.

Overall for the price this place was good. The location is good as there are plenty of places nearby to eat breakfast and dinner. You will be steps from the beach. The app to open doors was a bit of a pain because well you have to dig your phone out and open the app and hold it by the lock for what seemed like a long time to unlock doors in the building. I prefer a key card. If you're looking for a dark quiet room don't get a balcony. The light on the balcony stays on all night and it's right on a very busy road PCH so you will hear traffic noise. It was too cold and gloomy to use the pool so I have no review on that area. The pillows were too big and bulky for my taste. I prefer a pillow that my head can sink into so that it's not propped up all high when I sleep. Next time I'll bring a pillow from home. Parking was fine I just parked on a back local street a block away.

I liked the property overall. I found my room to not have adequate lighting, 3 IKEA looking lamps and one did not work. The bed was comfortable and the room space was nice. I was on the front street side so I did hear some road noise but they leave ear plugs in the room for guests. I did hear the person above me allowing their child to stomp around. The lights were out in the elevator and the temporary light went off while in the elevator so it was dark but not a big deal, just something to note. I like the door combo checkin, no room key needed just a combo code so that was nice. I would start there again.

Overall, my stay was acceptable. However, the excessive smell of bleach upon entry of room was captivating, and the musty smells in the bathroom weren’t something I would have expected from a hotel like Sonder. The noise level is a bit high but to be expected given the location. Balconies looked a bit unsafe to relax on, and the lights being required to be on for all patios is a bit excessive. You can’t sleep with the curtains open unless you enjoy bright light in your face.

Great location near the beach. The room was clean and the bed is extremely comfortable! I especially liked the Davines products from Italy in the shower! The lounge is cute with complimentary coffee. The staff is lovely and Mike upgraded my room to a quieter one, which I appreciated. The area is extremely safe in a residential area. The parking is $30 but free street parking around the area. I would stay again to enjoy the beach and pool.

The unit was immaculately clean. I had an eye out for that after reading some negative reviews. The location is great for the beach. Other places around it would have to go further to a road that cut through to the beach. There is some traffic noise on the front of the building, but I didn’t find it bothersome. The best part was the staff. They were helpful and even loaned us sand toys and other things for the beach. Don’t forget to ask.

No basic cable or at least we couldn't figure it out. The receptionist was a joke. Didn't even look up when I asked a question. Answers were one word answer. Not helpful at all. Although the room was clean enough, the duvet had huge lumps all over it. I originally thought maybe somebody was under the covers or they left all their laundry under the sheets. I tried calling the front desk to see if we could get a different room but there was no way to get in touch with the front desk. My call was rerouted to a call center somewhere outside the USA. They told me I could move to another room for an additional fee. I politely told her no thank you but that we would not ge staying here again (which is a bummer because we stayed there before it changed hands and it was amazing). I really think it's an Airbnb now instead of a hotel because they don't even have a key to let you into your room. They send you a code for the keypad only. I would not recommend.

Checking in is ridiculous and impersonal. I spent close to an hour jumping through all the hoops. Also wasn’t told upfront that you have to pay $20 a day plus tax just to park. In the room they don’t provide a table or desk and chairs. They give you a balcony but no way to sit out on it. The staff was pleasant and the coffee was good. The pool wasn’t heated and so was not usable.

Location was fine, service was ok. First and foremost Ive been double charged by the hotel after paying for it via hotels.com . Hotels.com is sorting that out now. CC was given for parking parking and I hadnt noticed they charged we for the room until departure an a email was sent. I also was uncomfortable with the security. I returned to the hotel about 1am to my room entry code not working. After 5min they reset the code and asked me to check my email for the new code. After a little back and forth , because i never got an email, they realized they reset the code for another room and sent info to that customer. Needless to say I didnt sleep comfortably thinking they could reset and give my room info to another person.

Great place by the beach - 100 steps from your room to the shore. The staff was so pleasant and accommodating they made our visit memorable. Beach chairs and towels available and great coffee/pastry and lunch spot right up the street. Easy walk to the nightlife of Newport Beach pier area. Four day stay and never needed a car. Will 100% return!

This hotel was convenient for us having an event on Balboa. I loved the walking to the beach and the Vacancy Coffee shop nearby was incredible. Good dining options close by- but on weekend things open late. The front desk people were great- and helpful. We had a room on the backside and it was quiet.

Good little spot right by the beach. It feels updated and clean. The staff is very helpful. There’s a coffee shop and a couple of decent places to eat within walking distance. We had everything we needed including a kettle, water station, microwave and desk to work at in the common room.

This was the perfect beach hotel. We were able to easily walk to a very nice family friendly beach. There were a handful of restaurants close by. Breakfast could have been easier if they had some basics in the hotel lounge.

Stayed for a long weekend. Enjoyed the beach and nearby restaurants. It was a short walk. Easy parking so we could take the car to Huntington Beach too. Great property and real friendly staff.
