Was close to the beach which was a plus however only 1 light worked in the room, the fridge didn't work and there was a bad smell in it. Also there were no wash clothes. Price if room was too high not to have at least these amenities. No complimentary breakfast but does have vending machine. Staff was at least pleasant. FYI, they dont accept cash.

Room heater was not working. Temperature at night was in the 50s. When leaving the elavator stopped working and i was stuck in the elevator for 10 minutes. I was able to make the elevator work again. Wasnt a pleasant feeling being stuck. Definitely will not returning back to this location.

If you’re just looking for a really nice clean room and don’t care about a pool, this is the place. The location is great - the city trolly stops right there and is an easy ride to the beach and shopping. The room was beautiful, and the manager was so nice, too. Overall a great place - just no pool.

Room was filthy. Cannot use the tub for a bath (cracks and a sign saying you will be charged $250 cleaning if you use as a bath because the tub leaks). Walls were falling apart. Microwave was filthy with food. Grime and dust everywhere (see videos). Dirt and hair in the drawers. Floor level windows in the bathroom and lower neighboring building with a view to the upstairs room (creepy and invasive). Unfriendly desk clerk. I posted an initial negative review and shortly after posting my room key mysteriously deactivated, forcing me to go to the office to reactivate where I was asked by the clerk to remove the negative review.only after I said OK (I was in a hurry to get to my concert) was I given the key back. Get there too late and you dont get a parking spot. There is exposed electrical in the bathroom with no fan. Shower head is nearly chest level (I’m 5’11”) cracks in the bathtub. Hard mattress. Even harder pillows. Thin felt-like blankets. The pictures and videos paint the picture. This place is a disgusting ripoff for nearly $300 per night. Never again. Spend your money elsewhere is my advice. Terrible!

This was booked on Thursday, April 3 and when I went to check in, I was never told until I was ready to walk out the door that the electricity was going to be off from 9 PM until 6 AM. However they had received a notification from the electric company four weeks prior. I requested a refund. I was refused by the clerk at the hotel. I also contacted Hotels.com and gave them this information they offered to relocate me at literally 10 o'clock at night, which was ridiculous and yet I asked for a partial or even a full refund, but never received a single communication back from Hotels.com. I will be reporting the American best hotel for Endangerment based on the fact that this hotel was without electricity from 9 PM until 6 AM. I was on the third floor. I had no way to know where the access point was to get down the stairs because not the only did the phones not work. There was no lights. There was no elevators or anything of that nature. The windows did not open so should a fire of broken out. I would've been trapped on the third floor. This definitely is the worst hotel to stay at, and I feel that not only them, but Hotels.com should be held accountable since it was reported to both of them.

Parking available in the garage, it's limited but we didn't have any trouble. The room was a nice size, and quiet. There's no coverings on some of the windows so the morning light came right in. The manager was very nice.

The area around the hotel was welcoming. The room was ok for the price and for the area. The only flaw was that there was not that much parking available. Very quiet and front office was very helpful and nice.

The hotel was not as pictured. It seemed run down and the office was shabby. Although it is a beach town, I feel it could have been cleaner and more updated. There also was no way to secure your personal items. Many improvements needed for this price point.

Didn’t get to stay . The entire place was not what the pictures look like the rooms on the site look kept up . We walked into our room an the bed an room was never cleaned it smelled. It smelled in the elevator. It was even worse in the office . Very misleading from the pictures.

The Manager at America's Best Value Inn San Clemente Beach, Mark, was prompt, personable, and professional. He made my 7-night stay comfortable because when he engaged me at check-in, he was friendly but businesslike. The location is one block from Highway 5, between downtown San Clemente and the surfing beaches. My room was clean and pleasantly decorated. One of four bulbs over the sink was dead; this was not an urgent need but Mark had it replaced within a few hours. Also he helped me find local amenities and was even kind enough to print a page that I was able to email him (I had no travel printer). The housekeeping staff were pleasant and thorough. Also the flowers, bushes and trees around the property were well-cared for. I'd confidently recommend ABVI San Clemente to my friends and family. Please commend Mark for exceeding expectations. -Doug Pratt

We have been going to this hotel for over 10 summers now. Altho prices are up in summer all other hotels in area have gone up too. MARK was our check-in host and he is absolutely the BEST. I had to change rooms at last min and He was very accomitable. This hotel is clean, comfortable and quiet, especially 3rd floor away from street. We have stayed at many hotels in SC and we always choose Americas Best.

The property is located between the 5 freeway and El Camino Real so it is a high noise location. The rooms are very clean and functional and block out most but not all of the noise. Be sure to request a room on the El Camino side. This is a good value for a short stay. Note that there are several good restaurants close by. For example, MRK Public is an excellent “gastropub” and the SC Cafe is great for breakfast.

The location is great - the city trolly stops right there and is an easy ride to the beach and shopping. The room was beautiful, and the manager was so nice, too. We had a great stay. Room was clean and spacious. Area is quiet even when the freeway runs near by. Bed is not the greatest but does the job. Close to many places to eat, shop and the beach. Over all we definitely be back for another quick get away.

We were there for a ball tournament. There were numerous restaurants within a very short walk of the hotel. Ralphs, a grocery store, was 2 blocks away. Very convenient to the ballpark.

This is the second time I’ve booked here and this is the only place I’ll stay when I come to CA. Staff is friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. Rooms are amazing, plenty of space, clean. Within a half mile of freeway, 3 minute drive down to the beach, plenty of local places for food literally across the street.
