Super clean. Comfortable bed. Front desk staff was not the friendliest. The blackout blinds do not close and it is super bright in the morning(they were installed that way). There was no ice in the entire building. All the ice machines were in repair at the same time

We really wanted to like this place. We loved the location and ease of getting to/from there. Our room was always clean and the staff was friendly. But the WiFi is unsecured and weak, they constantly ran out of towels (we were denied 3 times asking for replacements), and waiting for the only elevator grew frustrating. Pros: Proximity to restaurants/shopping/beach/pier, outdoor seating, parking, pool/hot tub Cons: Unsecured and spotty WiFi, lack of towels, I-5 right behind the building, always waiting for single elevator

I liked the property online but arrived and the pool was closed and very green with black alge we decided to book another hotel and cancel the reservation. Staff was friendly and understanding. But for the asking price it should have been much better.

Just amazing staff throughout my visit. So accommodating and helpful!!! I gave a few 4 stars only because the elevator was broken but fix by the next day and their EV chargers were broken. Otherwise a wonderful stay. Price was great too for the location and comfort of the hotel.

I didn’t like that there was only one elevator the pool was freezing. The jacuzzi was gross. It had a brown film on the surface and it looked like dead skin floating around in there. When I complained about it, I was told it had just been cleaned a few hours before. No way! It was disgusting

We stayed 5 nights at the Volare and it was great! We could walk to a number of dining places and lots of cute shops too! Conveniently located by the freeway, and surprisingly the room was very quiet. Location is very close to the beach. Free coffee and cookies each day in the lobby. The parking was also free and underground for extra convenience. The only downside was the pool and spa were sadly not available and that was one of the reasons we booked this hotel. Overall we had a great experience here and will definitely stay again.

The lobby, stairs, and elevators were dusty, and the room was both dirty and outdated. The sofa looked like a relic from the 1980s and was in need of cleaning. The bed mattresses were very thin, and the air/cooling unit was noisy. Despite the desirable location, the asking price was ridiculously high. For a Volare property, the experience was more like an outdated cheap motel with a four-star hotel price.

It looked like all they did was make the bed. Coffee machine dirty still with the previous Coffee pod. Bathroom had towels and hair all over the room. Only good thing is the bed was a bed.

We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. And you can’t beat the location. It is walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach and pier. The trolley was a very short walk away and it made many stops within the main areas and even went to the outlet mall and was free of charge.

For the price I guess it applies the “you get what you pay for”. Lobby looks really nice and the location is perfect if you want to be in San Clemente, but, the walls are like paper, you hear every step of the people on the room above you and while the hotel has no control over noisy guests, to be awaken at 2 am by people screaming on the halls and walking as if they had blocks on their feet wasn’t pleasant. Mattresses are on the hard side. The AC was a challenge, it has a big display “do not set to lower than 68”, but that thing won’t turn on all night if set to 68 and in those rooms with no ventilation, it was a nightmare. Overall 3 sleepless nights, it was good to be home.

Great location. Clean rooms. The double bed room has a lot of space. One thing to keep in mind is that one side of the hotel is right next to the freeway, so if you are a light sleeper the constant car noise may be an issue. The guy who checked us in was not very helpful. He did not give us any info of the property and amenities. For example there is a marketplace with water, snacks and convenience items that we didn’t know about until halfway through our stay.

The hotel is in a great location. The general common areas are cute and beachy. The room is basic with an updated bathroom and is quite sufficient. However, as an older property this must have once had wood floors now covered in Carpet and the noise from the floor above kept us up all night. Every time the guests stepped on the floor ,it sounded like elephants walking. And those guests were up all night long which resulted in a very noisy and unrestful night for us 😞. We did ask the front desk when we checked in for a top floor just as a general rule and he didn’t honor or reply to our request and kept us in whatever room had been assigned. He didn’t happen to mention if there were top floor rooms available or not.

Room was clean. The WiFi was down the entire time. The elevator was slow, so don’t be in a rush. It worked fine and the people were very nice. Close enough to walk tot he beach and plenty of nearby restaurants.

This hotel is walking distance from the vibrant Del Mar neighborhood of San Clemente, but it backs into the highway. We had ocean views and noise levels was fine but the highway facing side is not great!

Location was great but the night auditor on our first night was absolutely unprofessional and creepy. It was this old lady who was harassing me and my guests. She was going up to my guests and basically following them around. She was standing outside my door listening to what we were doing which was nothing. I have never been more offended and uncomfortable by someone’s behavior. The only reason I didn’t give a 1 star is because Nick D at the front and the person who checked me out are always amazing.

Everything about our stay was fantastic!! Nick, who checked us in, was friendly, professional, and thorough. He even called me approximately one or two hours after checkin to make sure everything was satisfactory - we really appreciated that! Our room and view were beautiful and clean. Loved our stay - we will be back.

Mixed feelings on this stay. Check in attendant was rude and I did not get the upgraded room I paid for. The hotel is a bit tired for the amount you pay. LOCATION is the best in SC...walk to downtown restaurants, beach ect.... The mid-night attendant was great...I had to go to my car and was running through the lobby to the garage...and she followed me out...to make sure I was ok (it was after mid-night). I really appreciated her watching out to a fellow female. I needed to print a document for work...printer did not work, but night attendant had me email it and printed out for me...which saved me a trip. No stay is perfect.

Pros: great location to walk to and from hotel to shops, food, and entertainment. Lots to do near hotel. It is child and pet friendly. Budget friendly. It was also clean and the room was ready about an hour before the 4pm check in time. Free parking. Coms: walls are too thin. We could hear our next door guests flushing the toilet and playing music while showering. Parking is limited and first come first serve. Also, parking spaces are tight, so SUVs and trucks beware. They have only one elevator. You have to remove the bathroom sink’s drain pop up or the sink won’t drain due to “poor design” from what the front desk worker told us. It was not something they fixed. The toilet handle broke off too, so toilet wasn’t flushing. Not something they fixed by the time we checked out. Lastly, we called the front desk a few times as things occurred and we were never able to reach them, so we had to show up in person to report the toilet handle issue or the sink not draining issue. When we showed up to talk to the front desk worker, he was sitting on the side just on his phone.

Great location for San Clemente at the top of the main drag for restaurants and shops. It’s an easy walk to dining, shopping and about a mile downhill to the beach. The free trolley runs from across the road to all parts of San Clemente. Staff is super friendly and helpful. The Superior Room I got was upgraded recently with nice amenities and it was spacious and comfortable.

I had an excellent stay at the Volare during Memorial Day 2024! The best part of the hotel is the location- you're only about 3 minutes drive from the beach or you're right near a free trolley that can take you to & from the beach. The beach was amazing and there are tons of cheap places to eat right across the road. We loved the hotel too- though it had an expensive vending machine and there were parts that were a bit holder, the front desk service was excellent, and the room was very clean and tidy. The bed was also super comfy with soft linens, and for a standard room it was super spacious (we had a whole second area that was a living room). Plus, bonus points for the pool and hot tub. I would absolutely stay here again and we had a great stay. Highly recommend!

In all fairness, the property states that it is next to the freeway and so I should have chosen my room better. However, I booked a king room adjacent to the freeway. I could literally feel the velocity of the cars driving by the headboard of my bed and the constant whirring all night and honking from cars was scary. I had to ask to that face the street. The young man at the front desk was nice enough to give me a smaller room on the other side of the ocean at that point I was very happy so in order to have a good stay here. Make sure you ask for a room on the opposite side of the freeway if you can do that it’s very enjoyable. The location is good. It’s a lot to restaurants and about assisting to 20 minute walk to the beach. I would not recommend walking from here if you have small children or elderly people with you however, if you are able-bodied, the walk is not bad. You can walk along the shots and restaurant on the way there it is convenient because there are so many restaurants around and state

We stayed at The Volare near San Clemente Beach, Ascend Hotel Collection for two nights and really enjoyed it. ✅ Location – the best part! The hotel is within walking distance (about 18 minutes) to the ocean, surrounded by many shops, cafés, and restaurants. Starbucks is right around the corner, the San Clemente Outlets are just one exit away, and it’s also very convenient to Camp Pendleton base. There’s even a free shuttle that takes you directly to the beach. ✅ Hotel & Room – everything was clean and comfortable. Our room had two queen beds and a nice bathroom. The hotel feels well kept, and even the room keys were fun and unique. ✅ Service – check-in at the front desk was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly. ⚠️ Only downside – there were no outlets or USB ports near the bed, so we had to charge our phones at the desk instead of the nightstand. It wasn’t a big issue, but it would be more convenient to have them by the bed. Overall, this hotel is a great choice for a short stay – perfect if you’re here to sleep, explore the town, walk to the ocean, and enjoy the local restaurants. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely return.

Lobby and room were very clean and neat. Web site did not say that the hotel is going through an upgrade and that the restaurant/bar, which I had planned to use while waiting for my wife, was closed for remodel. Small details in the room such as USB ports, WIFI and soap dish were nonexistent. The air conditioning was pathetic. The price was fair but it would have been nice to know some of the down sides before our stay. Yes we would entertain staying again once updates are completed.

Very disappointed and will not recommend this place. I reserved a Superior Suit, 1King Bed with Hot Tub Ocean View….there Not room service whatsoever Bring your own bottle of water….There will be Non in your room. For a $300 per night room.. please do yourself a favor and fine a more pleasant and convenient place. The Coffee Machine in the Lobby (it’s very old) it takes like 3-4 minutes to get a single cup of coffee.

Perfect location to get to the central shops and restaurants. Rooms are spacious and clean. Good water pressure in showers. Parking free and at the hotel. Would have been good if they had a cafe. Overall good. No frills and fluff.

The property was selected because breakfast was included. When I was helping my father check-in the manager said they were remodeling the kitchen and no breakfast would be available. I asked if he would lower the room rate to compensate for this, and was declined. This was a very high nightly fee for an off peak time in our town, and was surprised we did not get taken care of on the request.
