Property itself is nice but parking and surrounding areas not so much. There is two options for parking: first you can pay for valet with in & out privileges for $57 a night or you can park behind the hotel in a public parking garage for $27 a night without in & out privilege. The surrounding area is nice in the day time but can be very dangerous to walk around at night as the homeless population grows. Moreso, the staff was overall friendly when checking in but based on my experience the staff in the cafe was not catering to grab out order until we requested to order 3 times. But overall the room was clean and stocked with products as well as complimentary water.

Great property as a jumping off point for all the SD has to offer. Being in the center of the city, we were able to get everywhere efficiently. The bar and courtyard were upscale which was a nice plus.

Great walking distance to surrounding areas. Hotel bar/restaurant is very busy and crowded. Parking is difficult because it’s either $65/night for valet or $25/night in a nearby parking garage (around the corner). Rooms are very small but clean and modern. Definitely not family friendly due to noisy bar/restaurant, size of rooms and parking arrangements. The bed was the worst because of how hard it was. We won’t be staying here again.

Here's a simple pro and con list for those who want it short and sweet! Pros: Continental breakfast was included in the stay and was great. Bed was comfortable Shower got hot Easy to walk to Gaslamp District Staff was very nice Hotel was clean and comfortable Cons: Biggest disappointment for me was that I told the hotel it was my husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary when I made the reservation. They said they would do something special for us but we never heard back from them or had any special deliveries. First hotel to ever do this. Normally we get fruit or champagne or something special to look forward to. The rooms are SMALL (like squeeze by the bed small), but the bathroom was big enough to fit a bed + in it. The drip coffee is awful. If you need coffee in the morning, go to a coffee shop. I look forward to my morning coffee, so this was a bummer. No pool here. I knew that already, but it's still a bummer. Altogether, I don't have any regrets, but I wouldn't stay again.

What a beautiful hotel with excellent amenities and friendly, courteous staff. We were upgraded from Queen (which already looked very luxurious) to a King suite in the basement, and part of our amenities fee was comped for the move to basement (which some people don't like as much, but we didn't mind, as there was still plenty of light from ground level windows and warmth). The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and competent. The decor is a gorgeous art deco dream. The location is super convenient (15 min walk to Gas Lamp district, 15 min bus ride to Balboa Park) and along several bus routes. Be warned: the pool is not actually on the premises; need to walk about 10 min. Hotel parking is valet-only and $56/day but there are several other self-parking lots nearby.

Great property to stay at when visiting San Diego. Close to all major food places and transportation options. We were upgraded to a small suite, which was nice. However, they did not replace the sheets or give us any toiletries when we first checked in. There were stains and hair between the sheets; it was disgusting. When we asked for toiletries, it took 7 different calls before everything was actually delivered, when we asked for all of them at once. Besides, this initial hiccup, it was wonderful.

I was excited about the hotel initially however, it wasn’t as expected. The rooms were small and lighting was dim. The windows were tiny so very little light came in. The loft ceilings felt a little raw and the bathroom shower tiles were broken and chipped. I paid for a large king room but it wasn’t large at all. The decor of the hotel was nice but honestly fell short of expectations. Food was just okay. I had really hoped for more.

Service was great. Friendly and helpful staff. Exterior and lobby very nice. However, hallways were dark, walls scuffed and dirty, carpet worn and dirty and rooms needed some work. Elevator scuffed and dirty. Bathroom sink had a loud drip sound (some leak either upstairs or down). Rooms had no dresser to hold clothing, No closets. No fridge. Bathroom took up half the entire suite. No ironing board. Ice had to be collected on next floor up (we were on 2nd floor). Breakfast was great: good service and food was excellent.

I liked the choice of toiletries that they offered. I like the building's architecture. The hallway rugs can use a good cleaning and rooms can be changed to hardwood to fit the look they were going for

Great location near Santa Fe Station. Located close to Little Italy and Gaslamp and Embarcadero. Lots of food options close by. Room was quiet and clean and bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Very beautiful and quaint boutique hotel. Water in room, nice amenities in the bathroom. View of the courtyard from our room. Lovely garden in back. Coffee in lobby always a plus.Very tasty breakfast. Downside room was very small for two people. No closet to hang anything, had to place suitcases on floor. There was a very loud party at the bar on check in too!

My favorite hotels are thoughtful hotels like this one. While our room wasn't huge, it felt spacious due to high ceilings and well-planned design. The bed was very comfortable, AC cooled the place well, and it was quiet (except one dog barking on our second night). The bathroom had plenty of hooks and counter space, shower had a shelf for products, and the room had multiple full length mirrors. Staff throughout were polite, and the bartenders were a lot of fun. The hotel is close to Little Italy, so lots of good food is just around the corner. All around great stay.

Walking into our room, we were pretty surprised by how small, but that’s fine bc we booked the “cozy” king. But I was hoping to open the blinds to open up the space. And they were all broken. They have some kind of automated switch and they sent someone to fix who was able to roll up one of them and the other ones either didn’t go up or went up half way. It just was so disappointing bc we were only there one night and it felt like a dark dungeon. Also we paid $56 for Valet and they left our car outside on the street, same place we left it, overnight :(

I hate giving a bad review, especially because the hotel itself and the staff were all GREAT! However, my room was facing the street and I barely got any sleep all 3 nights I was there because there were loud cars revving their engines ALL night every night, and even again at 5am one morning! It’s a case of unfortunate location but I was pretty miserable not getting any sleep :/

The room was somewhat spartan with no drapes so if you need it dark when you sleep, don’t stay here. There is not enough insulation to avoid hearing goings on in the hallway or next room. The valet service was okay the first day but, after that, spotty and they seemed to be either short-handed or having communication issues with the valet so that it took quite a while to get my car brought up. The food was good but expensive but the staff was very nice.

The hotel is nicely designed and the rooms have great linens and bathroom toiletries. We loved the cocktail bar (boy was it pricey!) Our stay was let down because the room faced the street and two of the 3 electric window blinds were broken so we couldn’t close the blind and couldn’t get blackout in the bedroom. The bathroom fitments (taps, shower head, soap dish) were flimsy and showed signs of wear and tear.

The rooms are small, there’s no fridge or microwave unless you ask for them, someone would deliver them to your room. Some things in the rooms stopped working but are not fixed. But the staff and food make the experience tolerable, we even extended the stay for a few more days.

Stay was okay - pretty expensive for what you get considering the rooms are super small. Service was nice. Food wasn’t great at the restaurant so go elsewhere for that. Centrally located so that was a bonus for sure!

Overall stay was okay. Beds were nice and comfy . Daily cleaning awesome. Bar experience was nice, Room felt small and always had an odd smell when you enter which you get used to in few minutes. Breakfast incl is great but service extremely unorganized worse that I have seen, actually skipped breakfast one day to escape misery. Missed tickets for few tables they really unable to keep track of guests arrival confusion while serving or taking orders. Better have buffet and not ala carte . Also not flexible considering 28 dollar value you allow, let customer choose an omelette why force them to pick that when its actually few bucks cheaper:) .Not impressed.

My husband and I LOVED The Guild and will definitely stay here again. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was was a dream; from the beautiful architecture and history to the comfortable room and bedding. I would recommend staying here 100 percent.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were the best part of staying there. The breakfast was good and the free option was a good option. The room was spacious, but not very luxurious for the price. We had stayed at a nearby hotel last time in San Diego that was as big but offered a refrigerator and microwave in the room, and had better quality toiletries.

Tuong N. Was absolutely incredible! I was not a fan of my initial room which was already an upgraded room but I didn’t like the ground floor. It was nearly full occupancy and he made another room on a higher floor work! My stay was peaceful and delightful. Food was great! Excellent coffee. All around amazing and I’m back next week!

The property was nice. The staff varied greatly from cordial and helpful to very unfriendly and unhelpful (one female receptionist). Unfortunately we dealt with her 3times while there. She could not find our key from the valet and had us wait. Only to have another person help us and our car was in front the whole time. She was very unfriendly which is such a simple fix to be kind. She changed the experience for us.

Beautifully restored 1924 YMCA building. Wonderful bar staff. Excellent public transportation nearby. Take the 992 bus from the airport. It drops you off across the street from the hotel. Bus fare for two was $3.75. Sure beats exorbitant Lyft prices!

The hotel itself is located close to the water and easy to get from airport. The staffs are friendly and polite. The room doesn’t have any refrigerator, which we found weird. Also the continental breakfast included was very basic, it’s only yoghurt, fruit, toast, coffee/juice. Outside that, you have to pay extra, this is also weird, considering how nice looking the property is.

The space was small but clean. I was frustrated that the included continental breakfast was only available if I had time to sit and take an hour beginning at 7. I had told them when I checked in that I would need to grab it to go as I had to check out by 7:15. They indicated that would work. When I arrived in the lobby just before seven, staff was inattentive and unhelpful. I was told that my only option would be to pay out-of-pocket for one of the pastries that they had. Also, the coffee lids did not fit the coffee cups.

The facilities were clean and modern. Restaurant was a bit overpriced for what it is, but the food was good. It was nice to easily connect to Netflix in the rooms. Rooms were small, had to request a coffee machine and mini fridge, but they did bring it up right away. Coffee keurig in rooms is lacking for a 4 star hotel.
