About a 10 minute walk from the trolley. Lots of restaurants near by to eat and some convenience stores. The hotel is split into different sections so depending what building number you are in, you may have to walk a bit more. The breakfast was decent for it's price. The only negative thing was the gym, it was small, hot and there's barely any equipment.

I was told by the front desk that there would be a shuttle until 10pm before I arrived in SAN. I also read their letter which confirms a shuttle between “…6:30am and 10:00pm…”. I called the day before my arrival to make sure that the shuttle would be available and was assured that it would be as long as I arrived prior to 10:00pm. Upon my arrival at the airport I called the hotel at 9:05pm and was told that the shuttle service ended at 9:00pm and that I would have to take a taxi, Uber or Lyft. The nice man at the front desk stated that since I booked through Expedia that there was nothing he could do to compensate me for the expense of getting my own transportation. He told me that he would inform his manager and I would be contacted. I have not heard from anyone.

Guests should know there is no bellman to help with luggage, and just a few luggage carts. Elevator is extremely slow and used by housekeeping. Way too many stairs for seniors, someone can easily get hurt, the stairs are steep. Pool was dirty. The hotel is beautiful, great view and great rooms, they just need to focus on safety and a little more on the needs of the guests.

The staff was great. The property itself is extremely dated, and it appears that the hotel management has not invested in the infrastructure. The rooms are not updated. There was no ceiling fan, and there was no additional security lock on the front door. The pool was dirty, and the water was very merky. The hot tub was not working properly. The machine that makes the bubbles was not working. I personally would never stay again at this property.

I love staying at the BW Hacienda in Old Town San Diego. Its literally steps from the main area. The hotel property is always clean and everyone is so friendly. They have a van to help you get to and from your transportation. Just make sure to let them know ahead of time. Fresh cold water and GOOD coffee in the lobby. Great spot, nice people!

Staff is really nice. Condition of rooms is dated but it is in Old Town so it fits the ambiance. However, the pool was gross. It was green the whole time we was ere there and we couldn’t use it. The kids were sad but I was not going to chance it.

I liked the Hacienda look. Grounds are open with fountains & nice pottery. I like the location of the hotel. The pool & hot tub are nice, although, one pool & hot tub is not enough for the size of the hotel. They should have a bathroom(s) by the pool, otherwise, you have to run up to your room to use the bathroom.

The carpet was sticky and dirty, there was mold in shower, the lamp in bedroom was broken, the sink wouldn’t drain, tv didn’t work, and lock to the adjoining door next to us was broken!!!!! So unsafe. And It wasn’t that cheap! $275 cor one night, do NOT recommend!!

I love coming to this hotel, we come 2 or 3 times per year, and it has always been 5 stars to me. But this time I have a complain about room service, First day was fine, next day, was not.. beds were all sloppy, room was without towels, looked like they just stretch the bed linens and left messy pillows. The outside of the hotel looked that it needed maintenance floors to be washed. (the hallway floors) The elevator was very dirty. No complementary water inside the room. They charged me $25 for parking space, and it is a very small parking area for such a large hotel. So most of the cars were parked outside.

It was nice over all but the shower had some mold issues and the carpet was dirty and the tile bye the door had areas where you could still see dirt. We had a second room the same issue bye the door were you see were the mop missed but the shower was better. The staff was very nice and helpful and the property was beautiful. Just a cleaning problem.

It was convenient to be able to walk to my hotel . The room smelled musty and bathroom smelled moldy. You can hear the trash trucks really early dumping the trash. It was annoying because you were woken up.

We were here for three nights. We had stayed here a few times before but this was much worse. All though we are older, we were put in building 6 - a very long walk in the rain and three elevators from the lobby. First night we lost power to our building for about 4 hours. Another time all the lights outside the rooms were out, making it dangerous to walk anywhere. The toilet internals were corroded and broke (the lever to flush). There was only decaf coffee in the room but it didn't matter because the coffee maker didn't work. There was bottled water in the room but a little slip of paper we didn't see until later said they were $4 each. The phone in the room had the wrong room number on it. There was no wifi in our building. The desk said they were working on it - but a maintenance guy said it had not been installed yet. The nearest gate to the outside was locked with a bicycle lock. Had to go from street level to garage level to walk to the street. One night there was a very loud party in the room next to us and some children in the room above jumping off the bed. But they all quieted down by 11:30pm. Nothing was horrible but too many little things add up. It's a great location but needs work.

I chose this property because they advertised a free airport shuttle. My flight was leaving the next morning at 6 am. When I checked in to the hotel I was told that the shuttle service did not begin until 6 am. I had to be at the airport at 5 am. The front desk clerk said he would arrange to have a taxi pick me up at 445 am, and it would cost me around 25 dollars. I also requested a wake up call at 415 am. I never received the wake up call and when I went to the lobby at 430 am to confirm my taxi, it had never been requested. I was very upset that the can was never ordered . Luckily the morning clerk was able to call me a cab and I did not miss my flight. I feel that the hotel should have paid for the taxi ride to the airport. They advertise free airport shuttle but do not state the times the shuttle runs. I emailed the hotel to request the reimbursement and never received a response. The hotel is nice and clean, but if you have an early morning flight and need an airport shuttle I do not recommend staying here. I would get something closer to the airport.

The hotel is gorgeous and in a great location. The staff was legitimately nice! From pick up in shuttle by Jeff, with a tour and great recommendations. Heidi and Janie at front desk were helpful. Great energy and assistance by Sandra in housekeeping. And can’t say enough about Elvin, who went out of his way for us! Thank you!

Called around 1230 noon to confirm our reservation. Was immediately put on hold for 14 minutes. Then they picked up and hung up. I immediately called back and was told they were busy attending guests and put me back on hold. I hung up. When we arrived at hotel at 5pm there was a line of guests out the door to check in. Only one person was at the front counter. It took us over 45 minutes to get checked in.

The Hacienda Inn was definitely disappointing. It is beautiful from the outside, but our room was aged. The bathroom door didn't close and 1 of the 2 tvs didn't work. We went to the lobby multiple times to ask about getting it fixed. It was not done. Most of the front desk staff were very friendly, but there was no follow through. The maid came and cleaned our room each day, but never left coffee replacement. So I found myself back in the lobby getting it from the front desk. This is minor, but just 1 more thing. They offer a breakfast you can pay for (which was good) but there is no access to juices or milks for purchase. We walked a half mile to the Arco to get juice and milk for the mornings when we did not want breakfast. They offer a shuttle to and from the airport and the beds are comfortable. This is the only reason I give it 3 stars. We have stayed in Old Town many times and this was the most disappointing hotel we have visited. I appreciate the small discount they offered when I went down to speak with someone before our checkout, but considering the amount we paid to stay here, it was very small. As stated, it is a beautiful hotel, but it needs some work both inside the rooms and in staff follow through, to get to a 5 star status.

When I booked this hotel I didn’t realize where the location was, so we didn’t know what to expect. I booked it for the airport shuttle that begins running at 6:30am, so we didn’t use it. But the location of this hotel was excellent if you are looking to visit Old Town San Diego. We were in walking distance from shop and restaurants and enjoyed being so close. The hotel was a cute design and clean and felt safe. The staff was helpful and accommodating, letting us store our luggage while we waited and then ultimately getting us a room before the 4pm time. We would stay again!

The hotel was close to many different shops and restaurants. You could also find activities to do with family such as the history of Old Town, Haunted Whaley House, and historical Victorian buildings. Plus is that the hotel has a restaurant on the property. Breakfast buffet was delicious and while as dinner. After 10pm the area is quiet and beautiful views from anywhere in the hotel.

Liked the over-all look of the property. Disappointed with location of our room (view of the vending machine). Property layout is confusing and needs better signage. Breakfast was HORRIBLE. Scrambled eggs tasted terrible, no toast, muffins were stale. Over-all, we only had coffee, juice and a few pieces of fruit, for $28+. Worst breakfast I've ever had.

Place was clean but the toilet stinks. When we entered room lots of flying insects not sure what they were so we started killing them. One remote for 2 televisions kept switching from room to room. Worse part was looking forward to brunch. Got there at 9 it ends at 10 on weekends. Food was cold, bacon was sitting in grease scrambled eggs floating in water and chilaquiles were literally just crumbs.

In a great location, lots of cool places to shop in Old Town, which is half a block away. The hotel is unique in terms of architecture. Room was spacious, quiet, comfy and I would stay again. Shuttle service was awesome and quick. The restaurant had a great breaky buffet and if you sit on the deck you get great a view.

The hotel was a great place to stay. It is located right in the heart of Old Town San Diego. So much to see and do right across the street! The restaurant on site, Old Town Tequila Factory, is a must to go dine. The food was excellent! I had the Baja fish taco plate. The margaritas are on point. I got the Fiesta Verde, soooo good, I got two! Why not, my room was just a tiny walk away. Every thing was very reasonable. Overall everything from the staff (including at the restaurant was excellent). If ever I’m in that area again this hotel will be my first choice.

The hotel grounds were clean as was our room. 4 star rating because we didn’t get the room we booked and had to switch rooms. Got a room with a sofa bed for grandchild and we had to put the couch cushions on top of the springs so she could sleep. Our room keys worked once a day then we had to get a new one at the front desk. Not a big deal if you’re not on the 5 th floor without elevators. The hotel is built on the side of a hill so lots of steps. Would have liked to have a different variety of breakfast items to chose from. I would stay again on the first or second floor in a room without a sofa bed
