Before you book this property make note it is right next to a train crossing. Train noise doesn’t bother me but the noise of the gates going up and down every 3-5 minutes (no joke) is crazy. This rate slows down at night but sometimes the gates are making noises 10 min straight. Our first room was 439 very close to the gates. They were able to move us to 411 which was much quieter the second night. Unfortunately the box spring was broken in the second room and I had to sleep one night in a sinking squeaky bed. We got in late that evening so there was not anytime to get maintenance to come fix it. They did fix it promptly the next day. Breakfast was good with a wide selection. Pool was nice and clean. Rooms were clean and beds comfy once fixed.

The sound from the train was terrible and made me sleepless; looks like some guests were notified while checking-in, but I wasn't.

I'm giving it one star solely for the location. If you're looking for a quiet stay in San Diego then this is not the place for you. What with the A/C making so much noise and the tram and trains clanging by and all that goes on in in downtown I wouldn't recommend it all. It's barely above a Motel 6
