Ocean Beach Hotel

Cute, clean hotel just steps from the beach. It was fun watching the surfers. The hotel had a beautiful interior courtyard with tables, a fountain and string lights. The staff was helpful and let us check in early. Would definitely stay here again.

Nicely renovated older hotel. Very clean, friendly, helpful staff. Handy snack shop in lobby open 24/7. Great location for access to beach, lots of shopping and unique small restaurants. Rooms are nicely furnished and attractive. But a bit smaller than newer hotels because it is an older building. Not a very quiet place due to the proximity to the busy retail and beach area and air traffic overhead(not all night, shuts down about 10 or 11) , but interesting with all the activity and variety(though it includes those with difficult living situations). Easy dedicated parking, great common area courtyard with ocean view and lots of seating.

The property was okay. The staff was friendly but the parking was a nightmare. If you don’t find a spot, you lose out. They let others pay to park there and don’t care about where their guest park at as long as they’re making money. The rooms are tiny for the price you pay.

Overall, the location of the hotel made it ample for a quick vacation getaway. I booked room 320 - which is a King Ocean View with two patio doors that open to the street/beach side and is truly beautiful. The king bed in that room is definitely due to be renewed. It is very old and the hotel tried to lengthen its life by adding a topper to it. It’s very uncomfortable and sinks. As for the room, it would be nice if there was a proper armoire or a storage area, a suitcase holder so your suitcase isn’t open on the floor, and counter space. There is absolutely zero counter in the entire room. The bathroom is a pedestal sink, so good luck putting anything anywhere. The table and chairs is a nice addition, however the chairs sink tremendously and are due to be replaced. Go on management, please take a seat lol. And it would be very helpful to guests if there was a microwave. I did ask to use the employee one, and they were so kind to allow it, but is annoying when you want a snack. I did appreciate laundry machines on site for guest use, and the price is fair at $2.50 for wash and dry. Parking is tight, so come prepared to either squeeze in, or not get a spot originally on a weekend. But front desk was helpful with having guests move around to make space. All in all, I would stay again, but hope management truly takes these things into consideration.

Standard room, nothing special. The mattress was old and sagged in the center. Located close to the beach, but the area is very noisy and loud, especially on the weekends. Parking is a plus, but they allow others to park in the lot for a fee, so there isn’t always a spot open. Some people don’t know how to stay inside the lines, so another car won’t fit in the next space over.

Loved the hotel! Staff were friendly. Dog friendly hotel that allowed you to leave your dog in the room if you need to go out. EXTREMELY convenient location/parking. Everything was walkable! Only thing I'd recommend for the hotel is to install towel drying hook/rack, (maybe behind bathroom door?) and some sound insulation under the front door. You can definitely hear people talking in the courtyard and sometimes even outside the hotel. Note that this hotel is directly under a flight path so you will definitely hear planes fly by often (but to be fair, all of OB will likely hear these planes). 10/10 will book again.

Lovely room with all the comforts! Very clean. Daily maid service was excellent. Beautiful views !

The room was spotless and the bed was surprisingly comfy. The staff was super friendly and when I asked for fresh sheets, they got them right away. They also cleaned the whole room and restocked everything.

The rooms were dirty and a blunt was left in the room and on the balcony. The bathroom had no fan. There were scratches in the front door. The bed was way too soft. My back was sunk into the mattress and I had terrible sleep. The ocean view doesn’t have a balcony to step out and enjoy the view I paid for. The framing from the walls was tearing off terribly. The room and paint was very old. The pictures were not accurate to the promotion of the hotel at all. The area was not family friendly and felt very unsafe. I moved the tiny table in front of the door when I slept because I felt unsafe. I would not recommend this place to anymore. Bars surrounded the hotel and music was very loud at night time and hard to sleep. You can hear people verbally fighting using foul language. This was a terrible stay.

Seating areas with ocean views, rooms cleaned daily with bleach (which I love), so many food and bevy options and a local dog beach and ocean beach right out the door, as well as safe parking and a little store at check in. Staff was great!

It wasn’t the cleanest but smelled so strongly of cleaning products in the room. Like so strong. Super accessible to so many things though. Loved being off the beach. It was sort of loud but that was to be expected and I didn’t mind. Not the safest, someone was murdered in the alley next to the hotel the night I was there… but other than that!? Decent for a beach hotel.

Good hotel in a nice location (although the park across the street had a lot of loud and sometimes dangerous activity). The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The only main negative was a very smell comforter and bed spread (bad BO), and we had to request for a new one (we were surprised that it was not noticed. Aside from that, if you are looking for a convenient hotel with low amenities, but clean rooms and friendly staff, look Ocean Beach is a winner.

Very Nice place to stay. Rooms were cleaned every day and very clean smelling.Staff was very friendly. Close to local restaurants and shops. Farmers Market on Wednesday was awesome!! Beach was right there across the street. Pier is closed for renovations but not an issue for us.

Disappointing Stay Due to Non-adjustable AC I recently stayed at Ocean Beach hotel and felt compelled to share my experience, particularly regarding the air conditioning. Upon arrival, the hotel appeared welcoming, with a clean lobby and friendly staff. Check-in was smooth, and I was optimistic about my stay. However, my excitement quickly faded as I entered the room, it was uncomfortably warm. I attempted to adjust the thermostat multiple times, but to no avail. I called the front desk to report the issue, and while they were polite and eager to assist, they informed me that all they can do for me is give me A fan. The lack of functional AC significantly impacted my comfort. I found it difficult to sleep, and even during the day, I was unable to relax in my room. The heat made it challenging to enjoy the amenities the hotel offered. While the staff was courteous and the hotel had potential, the failure of the air conditioning system overshadowed my entire experience. I hope the management addresses this issue promptly to improve future guests' stays.

I hate to be one to leave a bad review. But, the hotel was not up to date, very small rooms, always loud at night, not as clean as it could be, and hot water took forever to warm (about 20 mins) not fun when you have kids. Location was perfect. Walking distance to great restaurants. Overall wouldn't recommend stay.

The stay at this property was pretty amazing. The only issues I had were the ac not staying on, theblightingnis pretty dim, and the floors left my socks dirty.

This is not a bad review. This place is great! Awesome location. Great staff. But it is dated and lacks what anyone would consider “luxury”. We will stay again! But don’t expects the Ritz or 4 seasons

This is a motel at best and it is across the street from the beach. So, the description isn’t honest and the pictures are deceiving. Our experience wasn’t the best from the get go. We arrived late in the evening after a 4 hrs drive on a Friday to a closed front desk with no information and no one to answer our calls. 30 minutes later someone came and there were two other people checking in so more wait. I asked the person if this was common for the front desk to be closed and they said that they usually take 30 minutes for lunch!! It was 8:30 pm. The whole property is very old but clearly there were efforts to maintain it. Overall cleanliness was good except for some rubbish left in one of the drawers. There was no elevator and can’t see this clearly noted anywhere in the property description. We booked a room and asked for a baby crib but they gave us a room on the third floor. I explained that this can’t be an option as we have a baby stroller and baby stuff that need to be carried up and down every time we go out and in. The front desk individual gave us a room on the 1sr floor by one of the building entrances with a window that opened literally where the entrance door opens. The bed was 2 feet at best from the window. So, I leave it to you to imagine the levels of noise and privacy. And there was no crib. Parking was free which was a good thing! I would say the best thing about the property was the location.

We loved this property from the location to the staff to the cleanliness! Everything made our trip awesome. Watching the surfers, tide pool access, walking the beach and great food options. And the staff was over the top and grounds were well kept. Can’t say enough. Stay here!!

Staff at ocean beach where awesome from the front desk to the cleaning service. Just wish the price was a bit lower.

Checked in after luncheon and had my high heel shoes on and bless his heart he carried our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Due to us being there for a very special birthday, daughters 30th there was available an upgraded room, one with view of ocean, which he gladly gave us. The hotel is secure and in a prime a location with the beach literally across the street and easy access to many restaurants. Like being able to park the car without driving everywhere. Wlill highly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you for such a memorable experience!!

The hotel was nice, but the room next to us was up all night partying and then fighting until 3am. I tried to call the front desk but no answer.

We've stayed here over many years and enjoy the view of the ocean from our room. You can watch the Surfers! The hotel is in a wonderful spot where you can walk to shopping, restaurants, and of course walking over to the beach

I really enjoyed my stay. Clean, comfortable room, right on the beach, many great restaurants and brewpubs in the area. Cool beach vibe, public transportation is good for getting to other parts of the city.

The street outside the hotel was absolutely packed with literally 200+ young people milling around, homeless guys playing drums on the street, and clouds of smoke… through a random Wednesday afternoon and evening in October. Probably very fun for young people who want to party, but not so much for others.

Proximity to the beach can't be beat

This property is very conveniently located across the street from the beach and on the corner of the main street (shopping, dining), so you couldn't have a better location in this area. The neighbourhood is pet-friendly and has a relaxed vibe. There is a pet friendly beach within walking distance. The beach in this area is good for surfing but has lots of seaweed. The hotel has two decks were you can sit and look at the ocean/sunset and a charming courtyard. The rooms are not modern, but have everything you might need. Bring your own beach towels. Overall we loved our stay.

Great location. Homeless haven around the area

We arrived on Wed to stay overnight at the property. We checked in normally and was greeted to a well cleaned room and facility. What I wish the hotel management would have mentioned upon check-in was the extremely noisy drum circle outside the hotel not 100m away. Even with the TV high volume and doors and AC on full blast, the multiple bands, drums and amplified music (if you could call it that) was heard. My wife who is sensitive to loud music was distraught from the whole thing. After calling the police who arrived late due to some accident; it finally quieted down around 11:30pm. I didn't rate this hotel lower due to the courteous hotel staff at the front desk (not the same check-in person). She tried her best to assist. It turns out that this loud music/ drum circle thing goes on every Wednesday night and is quite a nuisance. I don't recommend staying at this hotel on a Wednesday if you need to sleep at a decent time. (edit) My wife wanted me to add that the hotel bed covers weren't very thick and made it difficult to stay warm.

Surrounded by homeless and drug addicted people. Very noisy and couldn’t leave the property without being approached to purchase drugs or asked for money.

Very nice 3 level hotel. No elevator. Parking is included for 1 vehicle. Room was clean and fairly well maintained. The Zoo and other attractions are an easy 20 minute drive. On Wednesday evening there is a Farmers Market on Newport, lots of good fun, food, and crafts.

We really enjoyed being right at the beach! We could watch sunsets or the waves from any of the three decks. The staff was constantly wiping things down, cleaning windows, etc. to keep everything in great shape. There are tons of dining spots around as well as markets to stock your frig in your room.

This was such a happening location. The beautiful beach is just steps away. Restaurants and shops of all kinds surround the area. The hotel common deck areas offer safe and quiet spaces to spend time visiting, or just watching the water, the people, and best of all - the sunset. Housecleaning people are always working hard and very friendly. Lobby also welcoming and well stocked with food, drink, and souvenirs. The area is a little loud at night, but it is a fun atmosphere. There are quite a few homeless in the area, but there are also many Rangers present. I liked how the hotel required a key to access the property. I enjoyed the Wednesday night street fair, and the nearby bike rental location.

The staff were so helpful and nice. The beach is just over the road. The food and shopping around is great with the farmers market on Wednesday afternoon.
