Pretty good place overall. The facility looks weathered inside but close to a lot of food and ucsd. Has on-site laundry, but it cost 6 dollars per load to wash and to dry. Parking is not free. Breakfast is really early so a bit inconvenient..from 630 to 830am. They don’t clean every day. Just every 7 days. You can leave trash and towels outside your door for refresh but it can be unsightly.

Sonesta is in a great location in San Diego with great amenities! The main drawback is that it is right next to a car wash. This car wash opens at 7 AM every single day, including weekends. The loud noise from the car wash fans and vacuums woke me up every morning even though I was wearing earplugs. If you're a heavy sleeper, then this shouldn't be an issue. It would be nice if the windows were more soundproof. The gym is also quite stuffy and has poor ventilation. It would be nice if there was a thermostat to lower the temperature. Otherwise, the bed and rooms are comfortable and mostly clean. I did find a ball of human hair in my closet. And the staff is very helpful and professional. I would recommend if you're okay with noise while sleeping.

Excellent breakfast. Nice updated lobby area and comfortable/spacious room. Seemed well soundproofed. Area in back is good for relaxing and pool is nice, though small. Decent gym and free laundry! Commercial area- lots of eating choices, a nearby grocery store. next to car wash so if that would bother you, FYI. Suitable for exploring San Diego vicinity.

One thing I didn’t like, was pool water was too cold. I chose this specific hotel because of the fact it advertised heated pool. So pool water is too cold to use. I have children and it’s very important to have a confortable pool.

Had a great stay for almost two weeks at Sonesta ES suites . The staff is very friendly and co operative . The rooms are spacious and the small kitchenette was a blessing . The location is superb as there is a market place just adjacent to it. For an Indian like me, there was not one but three Indian restaurants nearby . And also an Aldi supermkt . The hotel had gym and laundry facility and the cleanliness is good enough . The only downside for me was fewer options for breakfast . Since we are vegetarians and were staying for a longer duration, I had requested for some vegetarian option instead of the daily bread, it was taken care of for 2 days but then it was the same non veg options everyday. Apart from that , everything else was awesome. Thankyou Sonesta ... for being an important part of our memorable stay in San diego💕💕💕

The room was very, vety clean. Breakfast delicious, fresh, the person in charge of it professional, polite, and incredibly efficient. Everything very well-taking care of. CONs: - 10 Dlls/day for parking in the property - Chech in AT 4 PM!!!

While entering the room put my 11 month old down to stretch from a 10 hr dr. to turn around and see him with a syringe he found under the tv stand. Under the couch was the bloody tube. Was paranoid about the needle being anywhere’s but the gentle man got us another room. The other room floor was sticky and reeked of per. We were so tired we just kept the room. For we were only there to sleep. Gentleman checked on us which was very nice. Switch over on staff to a woman that never answered any of our calls and when I got a hold of her she said for me to go to the desk instead of calling. She was rude. My husband that was unloading the car said that she was there talking to a guy looked like her boyfriend. For her whole shift he was there chilling with her. Terrible service. When the same guy came back we’re relieved.

The room was not very clean. There was hair everywhere, ants in the kitchen, bath tub did not drain, tile floors were not clean. The continental breakfast was not good. Also had to paid $10 a night to park in an open parking lot. Definitely would not recommend staying here.

I had a lovely stay at this location. It felt like home away from home. The staff is friendly, polite and helpful. If you enjoy having your room cleaned every day or every other day, this isn’t the place for you. They offer a weekly housekeeping service only. I was satisfied with it because I always keep my space tidy and clean. They do let us change our towels when needed. They also offer different products in case we need them before the housekeeping service. The breakfast is delicious and I enjoyed the turkey options for breakfast. The location is perfect as it’s close to restaurants, highways, shopping centers, etc. All staff members go above and beyond to help, but I want to take the time to thank Miranda for her kind and helpfulness. Also, Juanito and Narcissa made our stay extra special with their hospitality and kindness.

Beds were supposed to be 2 queens and a king, we had 2 fulls and a pull out bed. When we questioned the staff they guaranteed us the full beds were queens. They were not. Sleeping was a bit rough, since we had planned our trip around larger beds. Had to buy a blow up bed to make it work. Room had fingernail clippings and old guests items not previously cleaned up. Breakfast was top notch though. Staff was friendly. Pool are was fun for kids. Patio area was nice to stretch out.

The place was undergoing massive construction, this should have been disclosed. Paint and ladders in the hall, elevators out of service, dust EVERYWHERE. On top of that, I had no idea this was an extended stay without room service! They should spell out the ES, seems obvious now, but I never would have booked…and the “weekly cleaning” was buried in the fine print… TOTALLY misleading. Plus, a parking fee (also not clearly listed) although they waived it after I complained. I’ve stayed at Sonesta’s before…. This was an abomination. The staff was friendly.

This is my first stay after the renovation has been completed and I can't believe how they made this property worse. The placement of the TV in the room? Worse. Before the renovation there were large desks and very comfy office chairs that were great for getting hours of work done. These surfaces and chairs have been replaced by a very cheap table and uncomfortable chairs that are already starting to scuff. Forget trying to tolerate sitting in these chairs for a long while. I literally sent four pictures of the room to my friends and said, "what the **** did they do to this room?" There are just random outlets floating on the walls. You can't watch the TV from the couch or the bed comfortably and how much the TV can be turned is extremely limited. Thankfully the bed is still comfortable. A travesty of a renovation. Very sad.

The room was clean however the layout of the room was odd, the tv and stand was facing away from the bed at a right angle and left very little room to get to one side of the bed without squeezing around the corner of the stand. The room also had only one towel and we had to ask the front desk for another towel. At the same time we asked if they could turn the propane on for the firepit outside and the front desk clerk said he would look into it and then asked us "anything else?" in a sarcastic tone, not very friendly. We took the towels upstairs came back down to sit by the firepit and was told something on the pit was broken so he couldn't turn it on. That may be true but given the clerks attitude, we questioned it. Breakfast was decent, it ends at 930am.

This is an interesting property. Clearly intended for long-term guests with a kitchen / table / living room. Pros include lots of space and comfortable, quiet rooms. Cons include no room service / clean up, and a surprisingly dirty and worn carpeting in the common spaces. At the rate I was charged, I expected something a little nicer. Still it was overall a fine hotel close to the Sorrento Valley businesses and labs.

I enjoyed my stay at the Sonesta Suites Sorrento Mesa! The room was very spacious, which was great as I spent a portion of my trip working from the hotel. It was great to move around and not feel cramped in. The bathroom was also spacious, which I quite liked compared to some other places I stayed. Nice to also have actual diningware and a full fridge in the room! The staff were nice and helpful, especially the staff working the breakfast buffet! The hotel is located next to a car wash, which operates around 7am to 9pm - it wasn’t a problem for me as I’m an early bird, and generally you couldn’t hear much noise if the windows were closed. Close to freeway access and easy to get around by car.

Everything very clean and fresh. Breakfast was excellent. Staff was outstanding and very helpful. I even got a call from the front desk a few minutes after checkin to make sure everything was Ok or if I needed anything. Also Brenda at the front desk in the early morning brought up some coffee pods that I needed quickly since I had a very early flight. A very pleasant stay!

When I went to check in I noticed I left my phone in the Uber. Skip, the front desk clerk was one of the most conscientious and excellent employees I could ever ask for! Used his own self to help me call my daughter, call Uber to locate the driver, and calm me down! I cannot say enough good things about the staff!

I had a great experience at this hotel. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options to start the day right. The service was excellent—special thanks to Skip and Miranda, who were incredibly helpful when I had an issue with my first room. They quickly arranged a room change with no hassle and were very kind throughout the process. Another big plus is the location: several bus lines pass nearby, which is perfect if you’re not driving, and there are restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks for such a pleasant stay!

I enjoyed my stay at the Sonesta Suites Sorrento Mesa! The room was very spacious, which was great as I spent a portion of my trip working from the hotel. It was great to move around and not feel cramped in. The bathroom was also spacious, which I quite liked compared to some other places I stayed. Nice to also have actual diningware and a full fridge in the room! The staff were nice and helpful, especially the staff working the breakfast buffet! This was our first time staying in Mira Mesa and this hotel fit all of our needs. Super close to food and shopping of all sorts, and close to our medical appointments that we were in town for. Very pleased with our visit, thank you so much!!

The staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed. It was remodeled. The food was good, except the scrambled eggs had a grainy texture. The omelets and boiled eggs were good though. We enjoyed the bacon, sausage, and potatoes. Would recommend it and stay again!

Unfortunately the Sonesta brand has now removed most of the Staybridge Suites brand, including eliminating fresh cut fruit and the waffle maker at the breakfast buffet. If we were to stay here again I would likely bring my own microwave breakfast croissants, or more likely, find another place that won't cost me more than $400/night for two people to stay and eat breakfast.
