My girlfriend and I chose Tower23 for its surfside location. Overall the experience was good, with a few issues. On the plus side, staff friendliness and responsiveness is great. The hotel is very clean, except that water features (for swimming? It wasn't clear..) had sand at the bottom, and were not the pristine sort of blue a bather would appreciate. Our final bill was $74.60 in excess of the quote on Hotels.com, and this was mostly due to our request of a refrigerator and microwave oven ($10/day, each). Another big gotcha: on-site parking appears to be valet only, at $15/day. My girlfriend was less than impressed by the door partition of the bathroom to bedroom in our Surf Pad. It did not appear to lock in any fashion, and contained not fully opaque glass. Someone in the bedroom could see at least shadows behind it. This was an issue for my girlfriend when our microwave oven was delivered by staff. The hotel is overall very nice, but I tend to think that a stay at Tower 23 is at a premium only because of its location right on the beach.

First, I spend weeks analyzing over hotel stays before finally booking one. It's a problem...thankfully, Tower23 was a great one. Exceptional hotel with an even better restaurant. Valet was especially affordable and they had plenty of hookups for our rented Tesla. Room was great...very quiet with a terrific patio that included great sightlines to the beach and Crystal Pier. Staff was especially friendly and helpful. We used the hotel bikes for a ride to La Jolla. ONLY complaint would be breakfast being available room service only and after 8am. But overall, just a terrific beachfront property in the most perfect location. We tried several other restaurants but kept coming back to the hotel restaurant, JRDN. The food and vibes were best in area.

This property is at excellent location on Pacific beach. It’s a quite small hotel with very friendly staff who are very helpful Parking is easy as the hotel has staff who parks the car for you in the private garage attached to the hotel The room was comfortable and clean of a genuine size The hotel is located very close to the beach about 1-2 minutes walk Would definitely stay again in this hotel

Overall this was a very good stay. We ended up in an accessible room, which wasn’t ideal (e.g. shower head was very low, etc.). The restaurant was quite noisy at times, but they did decrease the volume by 9PM which was nice. The location on Pacific Beach was nice and very convenient. The hotel also provides beach towels, chairs, and boogie boards, which was a great added benefit.

It was a great stay. We stayed in surf pad room. Views and sounds of the ocean were amazing. Bar restaurant was great. Although we didn’t use pool, it was ridiculously small in warmer months.

Located right in the middle of Pacific Beach. So many places to eat just with a walk. Ocean is right outside. Valet parking was nice and everyone working was friendly. Our didn’t have a microwave though, minor inconvenience.

Tower 23 is in a great beach location. The staff was very attentive and ready to assist. Two complaints: The walls are very thin. It was difficult to sleep without my sound machine because I could hear everything! Also, I don’t know if it’s because it’s right on the beach, but there was an unpleasant odor. It was either moldy carpet or something, but it wasn’t good. Other than those two things, I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be near the beach and walk to stores/restaurants.

The property was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived to checking out, staff was helpful, accommodating, and overall amazing. The hotel and room itself was extremely clean. Housekeeping was available and were able to clean the room whenever we needed service. We came down for a week for our anniversary and the staff even dropped off a sweet dessert and card to our room! Parking is super easy and valet staff were great. Definitely recommend this hotel. Close to great restaurants and right on the beach.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of Pacific Beach. Very clean, modern and well maintained. Balcony was practically on the PB Ocean Front Walk, so a great show from the balcony. Friendly folks checked us in early and valet parking was easy. It was our anniversary and they had champagne on ice ready in our room. Great casual restaurants and coffee shops within short walking.

Hotel is right on pacific beach. Hotel is very clean and help was very polite. Homeless all over this area, not thebest area for kids. Hotel beds were hard and uncomfortable. No microwave in room and mini fridge was full of alchol and u able to store anything. Restaurant was very nice but very expensive. Great for adults not so much for kids.

We stayed here 1/30-1/31 wonderful and beautiful hotel nearby the beach about 5 mins to walk to the beach. The hotel offers valet parking and bikes to ride for free!! We went bike riding in the morning to the beach. The only complaint I would have is the way the hotel is built. We had a hotel room at the end of the hallway, but it was a maze turning a lot to get there. Also, the bathroom feels very unsecured it is a sliding door, but you’re able to see from the sides. It would be better if you were able to put regular doors. Very comfortable Temppur Pedic beds. Hotel does offer a mini fridge in the room as well as merch. I would love to stay here again!

I booked the Sky pad which shows ocean views and it said ocean view. When we arrived they told me we were “upgraded” to Sanctuary sweet which has NO view of ocean unless you wedge yourself in the corner of the balcony. During our stay it didn’t appear anyone was even staying in the rooms so I’m not sure why we didn’t get the view I paid for. Also the first night we ordered food and the hotel brought it to room but never knocked so our food sat outside door for 10 mins getting cold. We ordered breakfast the next morning and had to wait over 40 mins. We ended up coming back down to the lobby to see what was going on. We asked for room to be refreshed at 10am yet by 3pm they hadn’t refreshed the room. It was like constant calling and constant following up with the staff which I feel like when I’m on vacation I shouldn’t have to do…..

The hotel itself is very pretty — the staff was genuinely kind and the beach access couldn’t be more convenient. It really does have that relaxing, vacation vibe at first glance. That said, the room itself was… not it for the price. The A/C unit was so loud that it vibrated the entire room, which made it hard to sleep comfortably. The shower was tiny and barely had any hot water, which isn’t exactly what you want after a long beach day. We also reserved an oceanfront room but got partial view, which was a bit of a letdown considering the cost. On the plus side, the bed was super comfy — honestly the highlight of the stay. But for $300+ a night, I expected a smoother, more comfortable experience overall. Pretty hotel, great staff, but the room quality just doesn’t match the price.

Had a nice time at Tower 23 hotel. I’ve been wanting to stay at this property for awhile now, and my husband and I decided to book for our wedding anniversary. Overall the experience was nice but I do felt the workers could have been a little more attentive. The front desk workers didn’t ask our reason for staying and didn’t ask how our stay was during check out. I found that odd bc I’m normally asked those two questions when I stay at a hotel. The only other complaint I would have the water in the shower was all over the place. Took forever to warm up and then go cold and then hot again. Overall nice stay the room was lovely and very nice property with the beach right across.

Accessible to be at beach. Not so fan about an overstocked refrigerator of warm booze. Theres no room for anything/unusable mini fridge. Room was right next to electrical room. All night between the electrical room, ac and ac fan was blowing/ making clicking sound on and off all night. Such a disappointment. Seemed like a nice hotel. Also got a rude call 1hour before checkout time to remind to leave.

It's an area that is advertised as "family friendly" and the beach is but surrounding restaurants are not. We were turned away from several dining establishments because we have a minor. This limited us greatly in where we could eat and enjoy adult beverages while being within walking distance from the hotel. And I understand this is a normative for CA but it should be noted we saw a several homeless passed out, intoxicated, or speaking/acting aggressive in the alley behind the hotel and within it's overall proximity to the hotel.

We had a great stay! Rooms were clean and we enjoyed the welcome drink. Food in restaurant downstairs is excellent. They have free beach equipment to use for guests and we loved spending the day at the beach right outside of the hotel. Will stay again!
