Booked the jacuzzi suite. The water wouldn’t get hot enough to use it. The handle was pretty much broken, and wouldn’t turn past a certain point. We decided to see if we could deal with the lukewarm water, and there was a bunch of junk floating in it. We decided not to risk a staff infection. There was a shower head above the tub on the same faucet. This was the only way to bathe in the room. This was the tip of the iceberg of issues stemming from poor maintenance. There was a hole in the floor cold air was coming out of, and the tile kind of gave when you stepped on it. There were cigarette burns and drywall patches everywhere. The toilet rocked when you sat on it. The wood furniture had stains. The hot tub outside was boarded up. The ice machines were by the outdoor pool, and looked dirty. Amenities were hit and (mostly) miss. There was a refrigerator, a microwave, and basic cable in the room, but not much else. I didn’t know how much I would miss bad hotel art until I was staring at a bleak blank wall. Climate control was a smelly wall A/C unit, and the blankets were thin. I can sleep on a rock, so I can’t attest to how the mattress was. I found myself missing things like tissues and convenient trash cans you would find at any other motel. It was also loud. Some people were getting in their car and yelling all night. We could also hear people in rooms around us, and housekeeping vacuuming.

BED WAS A 6/10, NOT THE WORST, NOT THE BEST. WEIRD LARE PHOTO O F A RANDOM WOMAN ON THE WALL, LIKE CREEPY LARGE. This hotel is not very nice but it served the purpose. The rooms are extremely basic and don't smell good. There was no comforter or anything, just sheets and a blanket. Parking is a problem with limited spots and very small and narrow parking spaces.

First of all, for whoever might read this DO NOT USE EXPEDIA, they booked me the wrong room and would not offer a partial refund only a cancellation but there was no time to book another room. Hotel Iris , well, you get what you pay for, it's fairly inexpensive and they did accommodate us in a room with disabled parking in front. It was nice to have a mini fridge since the room I booked on Expedia was suppose to have a full kitchen (there are no such rooms at this hotel). Upon entering there was a powerful Clorox smell covering up a moldy smell. The front office smells of mold, too. The board under the bathroom sink is rotten and lots of rust and old molding in the bathroom. The towels they provide are minimal in size and quality. We found one huge cockroach , thankfully more. We had a room close to the street and it was loud from traffic. They power washed the upper level right above us leaving a waterfall over the sidewalk. There is a pool but all the pool furniture is broken or unusable. The jacuzzi is not working. This seems like a very old, not very well maintained property.

There were plumbing problems. We were told the hot water would be off until after 6pm the day of check in and off before 6am the next morning. The hot water would return after 6pm that night. We stayed Friday night and Saturday night and checked out on Sunday morning. We did not have hot water during the entire length of our stay.

Checked in, asked about the pool and hot tub, there wasn’t a hot tub like they claim, get to the room and it smells, the sheets are dirty, remote and tv don’t work, we were given two towels for four people and an additional deposit for this crap hole upon arrival. Don’t recommend!!!

The parking situation was a little difficult but I understand with the size of the place. Seemed like there was more cars than rooms and that the IN behind was using there parking too. But the staff was nice and helpful and the room looked clean. Nothing to special about the room but great water pressure !

Hotel did not have hot water. I was told ro contact Hotel.com to get credit. Hotel.com did not respond to my email. The only response from Hotel.com was to contact my local hotel. Hotel.com is quick to take your money but if there's a problem with your reservation you won't get any help. The local hotel did what they could. I reserve a suite with jetted tub. Shortly after I made reservation the local hotel called and told me there was no hot water. They said they could not issue credit and that any credit would come from Hotel.com since reservation was made through them. Hotel.com contact was through online chat from which I got no response. The local hotel switched us to a regular room with hot water but at a lower rate. Hotel.com did not respond to any of my inquiries. When you click on the "help and support" it refers you back to local hotel. The local hotel took care of the room situation on their end but Hotel.com didn't take care of credit on their end. Hotel.com only works if there are no issues. If anything abnormal happens Hotel.com is no help. There's no phone number to talk directly to a real person. Everything is online where they can blame things on computer. I will never use Hotel.com again. I'm going to tell everyone I know that Hotel.com is no reliable. It's better to contact hotel directly to make reservation. That way you can contact the hotel reservation desk and solve the problem. My hotel manager was very helpful and available throughout the whole process

We were a family with 4 rooms we were all spread everywhere. No easy access to 2nd floor for person with disabilities or pregnant. No refrigerator ass listed on here. Parking spaces too close together. Bath tubs were so old and broken.

The room was not clean, it had a bad odor I had to buy a lysol and put all over the room, there were insects in the bathroom, no trashcan in the room or the bathroom, the furniture was damaged and the restroom wall like they made some repairs and they look unfinished, very bad experience… there were also people like living in the room nextdoor and we could smell cigar odor all night…and a lot of noise.

Gross. We payed $200/night for a room that I would not stay in for free. The carpet was dirty and stained. The TV didn’t work. We shared the room with cockroaches. There was no hair dryer. It smelled like weed. The sheets smelled like cigarettes. The bed was hard and sheets thin and scratchy. The only redeeming quality was a clean bathroom and a fridge and microwave that worked. It was noisy from the other guests and the freeway. The front desk guy was nice.

When I arrive there were two guests in the lobby seeking refunds because they refused to check in to dirty rooms. I got my room and upon entering found it. It cleaned it ready - including literal blood on the walls of the bathroom. I went to the front desk and asked for another room. The second room was just as bad. Both were absolutely filthy. I then went and returned my key. The front desk staff told me I could contact hotels.com and ask for a refund just like the other guests did. When I contacted customer service I was told the hotel has a “no refund policy” and that they would contact the front desk to ask for a waiver. Which aligned with what I was originally told. Once I returned the keys and walked out - the on duty manager refused to allow the refund. She admitted that the rooms were not clean or ready to be issued. She then said that even though there was no rooms ready - I could wait for one to be cleaned with zero indication of when that would be. I politely declined and asked for the refund to be processed since my family would not be staying there. I was told absolutely not and to “take it up with your bank”. So I am. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel - the pictures do not match the actual conditions, the bait and switch is very deceptive. They have a no refund policy because once they get your money - they expect you to just deal with it seeing as how neither their management, customer service, or hotels.com will help you if you decide not to stay

This is the worst hotel I’ve even stayed at. The room smelled horribly of smoke and the carpet was so dirty that it stuck to my shoes. I’m the. The headboard was so dirty you could see the dust particles and it was taped together. I asked to change rooms and was told that they were sold out. I will never be staying here again and will ensure that no one who I know will even step foot here. Disgusting hotel.

Check-in was easy. Our room was ready so we were able to check in early. Room was basic. Mis-matched furniture and no upgraded fixtures or finishes, but the bed was comfortable. Room was decent enough to meet our needs for the night. Price fit.

I’ve stayed here a few times in the past. Every time I stay I get a different room with different weird things. This time my bathroom!!!! It was a jacuzzi tub with a shower head…..no curtain. In the past I’ve had TVs not work or uncomfortable beds….i don’t know why I keep coming back, but I think this was my last stay at hotel iris.

Not that I expected much but I should still mention you’ll hear Highway noise as well as folks in the next rooms talking all the time, it’s bare minimum in every sense- I wouldn’t call the place clean really. no electric sockets around the beds even… I definitely won’t stay at this place again.

Unfortunately, there is no way to attach photos, or I would simply show you. Inside of door had open holes where bar lock had been kicked in. Next to it had Sharpie writing about that situation. Bathroom had missing baseboard, either dispensers or a grab bar had been pulled off the shower wall and not patched, the toilet paper holder had been moved - again no effort to patch and paint the holes. The mirror had only two working lights out of four, until I fixed it myself. The TV mount is actually larger than the miniscule TV. NO maid service, despite the fact that I put out the Maid Service Requested card. When I spoke to the desk staff all I got was vague assurances that the room would be looked at. That and a post-it note with the promise of a jacuzzi room at half price during my next stay. Right. No letter head, no name of who gave it to me, nothing to indicate that this was a legit offer. No discount or other remuneration was offered to make this right. The room did not feel safe, was not cleaned during my stay, and looked like the leftovers from a bad rental agreement. Seriously disappointing in every way. Will not be staying with you again.

Rooms were extremely small, no shelf for soap and shampoo in shower, people in next room smoked and partied until 5 in the morning, face plate on heater fell off when I touched it, staff were slightly gruff and not very cheerful, toilet had marks and the seat was chipped and very worn, room was dark when we entered and the light switch was hiding behind a lamp away from door not very practical!

The bed was hard. Carpet was dirty. The a/c unit was sticky. The tv remote didn’t work, only turned the tv on and off, couldn’t change the channel. When I turned the shower on the water smelled like a dirty swimming pool. Staff was friendly. Overall, will not be staying here again.

This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at! I was overcharged twice and my deposit was not refunded! I booked this hotel through Expedia and paid for the first night up front (slightly over $100), and my balance due at the hotel was supposed to be $806 and some change, but instead, Hotel Iris did not credit the $100 that I paid though Expedia, telling me that Expedia gets that $100, and charged me $978 plus another $78 for the deposit. I called Expedia, and then everything that I paid to the hotel in person was refunded and then they recharged me $907, which was $100 over what was due at the hotel, and they neither itemized the additional $100 separately as the required deposit, nor refunded it. The employees were very rude. The rooms are not as pictured on the website, the hot tub was not functioning, there was a long slit in our bathtub, which water came out of if you stepped on it, and for the last 3 days of our stay, we had no hot water!

Asked for maintenance more than four times. Was promised someone would so no one ever dudes the employees pointed the blames each other instead of helping with my issue that was brought to their attention multiple times. No one would resolve it. Terrible terrible service.

Well I can’t Review the property because I wasn’t allowed to check in. They say to call and let them know if you’re checking in after 8pm. Which I did. I called them around 330 to let them know. I go to check in and they say it’s to late to check in. I ask where it says that on the website and he just says he doesn’t know. He says if Expedia calls him they will authorize the refund. When Expedia called the declined to to the refund.

This place has a lot of homeless around the area. Every time I left my room someone always asked me for change or in one case a socket wrench. Also every night someone kept knocking on our door asking to come in. There was a dead spider and another bug in the middle of the bathroom. The tub had a rag in it stuffed in the drain, and whenever we took a shower water got all over the floor, which if you don't lay a towel beforehand you will slip like I did, the tile they use has no grip. The desk had paint on it and the drawer handle was missing on one of the drawers there was what I can only assume was chocolate (didn't further investigate this) on the floor.dropped an earbud behind the nightstand and when I went to move it I found someone else's piercing (possibly belly button) another thing to mention when we first entered the room it reaked of weed we kept trying to get the smell out but couldn't. Also be aware that they charge $100 deposit and $11.95 per night "service fee" I didn't receive any service during my stay. Also the hotels home page at the time that I booked, mentioned no service fees and as per SB 478 and AB 537, they are to have full transparency with any and all fees included in a guest's stay. That being said the only positive aspects of this place is the jetted bath tub and the front desk staff the gentleman who checked me in was nice and polite same goes for the young lady who checked me out she was also informative when I asked about the $34.95 charge.

This place is a dump. It’s nothing like the pictures show. The furniture is in bad shape. The wood floor was broken.The tub was dirty and it had hair in it. There is a lot of people walking around the parking lot in the middle of the night. Did not feel safe.

This hotel is very outdated, needs some major upgrades, the room was clean for the most part, staff was nice when checking in. But did not feel safe as there was odd looking people around the hotel just hanging around, someone was also playing music in one of the rooms next to us all night, people talking right outside our room at night. We almost left to go stay somewhere else where we’d feel safer. Overall, please pay a little bit more and stay somewhere else!

The images provided of this hotel are very misleading. The property smells like urine and cigarette smoke. The room we were given smelt like a previous smokers room, felt humid and looked like it was given a landlord special. The entry door looked like it could easily be broken open. There were a lot of odd people walking around the parking lot and most of them were chain smoking inside and outside of hotel rooms. It’s a small sketchy-people-filled hotel in the middle of a bunch of well known chain hotels. Not the best place to stay in San Diego if you have small children and family members with asthma. They wouldn’t refund us for our stay when we decided to take our business elsewhere due to these reasons. You’re better off sticking with a well-known hotel chain and paying more per night if you prefer to breathe well and feel safe sleeping at night.

Had car issues and needed a place to stay for the night since it was too late to drive. Found this place on hotels.com and made reservation online. First, guy who checked me in barely spoke English and it was very difficult to understand his accent. Then he told me there was a $100 deposit that I wasn’t made aware of when I made the reservation. He gave me my key and when I went to the room the key wouldn’t work. I had to wait for him to come see what the problem was. The property wasn’t well lit and there were a lot of suspicious individuals roaming around which made me worried for my safety, so I waited for him in my car. When he got there he opened the room with his key and sure enough the rm had obviously been used and not yet cleaned. I had to get back in my car and drive to the reception again so he could give me another rm. This time the key worked, thank God, because it had gotten very late and I was exhausted and starving (no food available at hotel, not even a vending machine or snacks). Rm smelled so musty it made me nauseous. I turned on the AC and good thing I was carrying an essential oil that I put on the vent to freshen up the room. Rm was clean enough but definitely old and in need of updating. Didn’t trust taking a bath in their jet tub; who knows if they disinfect well. Made extra sure all locks worked and moved desk in front of the door. I could hear people passing by all night so I barely slept and felt very unsafe. Maybe drug deals happening? Want $ back

The rooms were nothing like the pictures. The towels, pillows and sheets were clearly cheap and bleach to death. The walls were dirty and patched. The bathroom door had been busted and it was patched. I paid extra for the suite because I like to cook and whatnot myself - they don't provide silverware, plates, cups, pots, anything. Not even dish soap or a sponge. Sunday while I was trying to rest, the grounds keepers came and trimmed and leaf blowed for 2+ hours Although the clientele was not great, that's not a huge deal. The cops were called and arrested someone in the parking lot, blocking the entrance in or out of the hotel. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had.

Room was clean and comfortable Nothing fancy. Check in was a little slow. Kitchenette was a plus, though we didn’t use. Would suggest and stay again.

I booked a kitchen as one of my requirements when booking. I was give a jacuzzi rm and no food vouchers or a way out of my reservation. I did not contact Expedia to fight this since I was on vacation and not in fight mode
