Old Town Western Inn

This location was ok, but only for just 1 night. The parking is terrible the spaces are too small and very hard to leave since the cars are so close together. I can tell they don't really sweep or wipe down in the room, especially near the bed. Furniture is very used and chipping. The beds and pillows aren't very comfortable.

Good value for the money, clean, great location a few blocks from Old Town San Diego. Plenty of free parking on the street available.

I did not like that I had to pay for parking space

Clean rooms, nice staff, close to restaurants in Old Town. The outside hallways can use some major overhaul. Parking is NOT free and maybe extend breakast till 11 instead of 9.

Didn't know there were $12 fee to park inside the hotel's garage although this's NOT a valet or gated parking but saw it on the App when checking in. Room was smell of strong paint fumes and asked to change for another room. Floor and hallway were damp with some tapping paper,paint stains... while it was underconstruction. No clear instruction or sign for the breakfast place on the second floor...

Would have been nice to know before i booked that they were under a major remodel..parked in parking garage in the handicap parking only to ome out with my car covered in some sort of dust. The arpets in the hallways were either water stained or covered with paper. Banging all day from tearing out toliets on my floor.

Location was great! Walking distance to the old town San Diego. Lots of shops and diners. Parking garage was awful though. So small and not easy to get in and out but to secure that I had a parking spot I paid my 12 a night fee. Not recommend if you have a big truck

They are finally updating the look. New flooring and batbroom and beds, definitely better then before. Now they need to work on the garage parking. I swear every timw I exit the garage, all u derneath my car gets scraped and Im sk afraid my muffler will fall off and my car is a normal chevy cruze, its not a cusomized car where ita lowered or anything, and no we aren't overweight. Its just too steep when your exiting. They need to do something to fix this plz.

They charged 15 Dlls for parking lot, it’s a service that usually is free for guests

Hallways torn up due to remodel. When this is done, it should be a vast improvement. Room was probably remodeled about 3years ago. Room now needs a fresh coat of paint. Otherwise, it was very nice. Breakfast was pretty minimalist, so I went to nearby Old Town. This proved to be a blessing in disguise because I found a nice, rustic place for breakfast. Challenging location to get to after dark, but in a nice location. If the hallways were finished and the room had a fresh coat of paint, I would have upgraded it to 4 stars.

I'm not typically the person that would go out of my way to write a negative review. But this place was a roach infested disgusting disaster. The room smelled of urine. The old mattress was extremely stained possibly with human excrement. The box spring was broken in half. On the positive the sheets seemed clean. The pillows were the same as the mattress old stained and smelled of urine and wet dog. Very very dirty outdated and disgusting. We realized after our late checkin that we had been cat fished by the online pictures and reviews. The online pictures do not represent the current state of this property. We booked through Expedia for two nights which was non refundable. We were determined to try to brave it through the night. Later in the evening after multiple cockroaches started roaming around the room we cut our losses and checked into a near by hotel at 1:00am My advice before booking with this property or others is to look through all of the reviews. The good and the bad. The true accurate reviews seem to have been buried. Very disappointed. Please do your research and check out all of the online reviews. Somehow this place has 4 star ratings. My advice is to look up the bad and good reviews and weigh all of the opinions carefully. Sort out the reviews by dates as well. I personally feel the recent accurate reviews of this property have been buried! The hotels nearby in this area are only $50.00 more a night. Expensive lesson learned.

Super clean and updated room. Our bed was comfy!

This was a good, clean, inexpensive find close to the airport. We only stayed there for 8 hours for a short sleep and the bed was comfortable. It is not fancy but well priced and convienent for our very short stay.

Windows had mold. I couldnt rest on the bed.

I really enjoyed my 2 night stay here. I was in town for a work event. Location is great, walking distance to shops and restaurants in Old Town. Also a quick 10 min drive to Hillcrest, Little Italy or Balboa Park...VERY WELL LOCATED! The room was very spacious, clean and very simple. AC worked great. The room I stayed in was at the end of the hall on 2nd floor next to the utility room and had windows facing the street. Other rooms have windows facing the hallways where you need to keep window shutters closed for privacy. The waffle at breakfast was super fluffy and staff in all areas were very courteous, helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.

It was a little loud as far as people coming in and out and hearing people in the next room.

This is an older property, but the room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The location wasn't as close to the heart of Old Town as we had hoped, but still in walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Nice ,big, clean suite. Easy access to Amtrack, the trolley and bus services. Definitely great value

The noise from the air-conditioning was too loud

Great stay! Although the building looked a bit worn down and the room was a bit stale, the washroom looked renovated! Only down side is the internet is slow.

My room had no place to hang clothes. I tried to call the desk using the button on the phone. It didn't work. I rarely watch TV, but when I tried to turn it on, it didn't work, I went to the desk and asked how I could fix it. I got erroneous information which did not fix the problem. Some of the work around the base of the bathroom wall was not finished. The breakfast was sub standard. The bed and the housekeeping were excellent.

Hotel room was clean, the building is a bit outdated, the floors could use some repairs. We were on the second floor and heard footsteps above us late at night. Other than that the hotel was really close to Old Town attractions and the check in process was smooth.

Same thing.The service was overall terrible and experiences.We're not even being it was a total lie. Plus rude people in the hotel staff go treat you wrong and take secret pictures of you in the room.I had the front desk guy admit to me via phone call that he had taken pictures of me in the room.

We were on a tight schedule upon arrival, so it was disappointing to learn that our room was not ready, especially since it was already past 3:00 PM, the standard check-in time. While we waited, we noticed that several other guests—at least five or six—were checked in and given rooms before us. I asked the front desk if any room was available, even if it wasn’t the exact type I booked, but was told I would need to wait for the specific room I reserved. Unfortunately, this led to a delay of over 30 minutes before I received my room. My brother-in-law, who arrived with us, waited even longer—about an hour and a half. This delay caused us to be late for an important event we were attending, which was incredibly frustrating.

The customer service people at the front desk of the Western. Put me in a hotel room that had damage into the walls already when I got there, then they tried to say that I did the damage to the wall as a small hole. I surely did not, he said he was going to report me and charge me a fee, I didn't get my deposit back. Nor were any of the services promised to meet giving to me at all. So I would like to request a refund given that my stay was guaranteed with the protection plan and fully refundable, and this is twice in a row that happened in the same week.

My husband and I stayed at the Western Inn Old Town for one night over Thanksgiving while visiting family, and it was absolutely perfect. The hotel was very nice, exceptionally clean, and our room was surprisingly spacious with comfortable beds that made for a great night’s sleep. The location is unbeatable—right in Old Town, San Diego, making it easy to walk around and enjoy the area. So many great places to check out. Check-in was smooth and welcoming, and the manager, Sanjay, was especially friendly and hospitable. He truly made us feel at home. We will definitely be back again. It was the perfect stay and truly enjoyable from start to finish!

The evening staff lady was awsome Morning was rude awoke with drunks screaming out front at 5am and staff not doing anything until I called at 6am. Then we left and came back at afternoon was thinking to extent a day but staff was just not friendly so decided not to stay..

Excellent location! Clean! Friendly and very helpful staff! Manager gave us cards to use for the trolley so we wouldn’t have to buy them. Just make sure you return them so someone else can use them next 👍

Nice small hotel right beside interstate 5. Close to downtown and 4 min from Sea World

The location is convenient with 8 mins walk to metro station and bus stops just 2 minutes away. Room is large and i like the bed as its so comfortable. There is Target, CSV and Walgreens nearby for shopping.

Very nice hotel, I would definitely recommend it for a solo traveller or even a group traveller. It is around a 10 min walk to the bus/trolley station which isn't bad. Peaceful and nice area, restaurants nearby, and also a convenient store(not so much in the vicinity) The breakfast is okay, don't expect too much, just the basic but still does the Job.

Pros- smaller property, easy to park, couple of blocks from old town San Diego, easy freeway access, comfy bed with lots of pillows, clean, staff isn’t over friendly but they get the job done Cons- walls are thin, short breakfast hours, older rustic hotel

This was a good, clean, inexpensive find close to the airport. We only stayed there for 8 hours for a short sleep and the bed was comfortable. It is not fancy but well priced and convienent for our very short stay.

I would recommend adding fresh fruit and a protein as an option. The room was clean, AC works well. Staff at check-in and check-out were very pleasant. Old Town San Diego is within walking distance.

Parking on the property costs extra. Updated older motel. No views. Surrounded by other gotels. Breakfast was worthless. Waffles and muffins. At least there was coffee. Good because close to old town and the airport. Not worth the price per night. Clean. Well kept. But old. At least it was linoleum rather than carpet.

Location in Old Town is convenient, can walk to various restaurants and it is in a quiet part of town. Rooms are big and clean. The breakfast is not good, very small area with only two kinds of cereal, mini muffins and make your own waffles, they do have coffee and a juice machine.

The breakfast was decent. Hot waffles and hot coffee. Not much room to collect or prepare one's cereal. Very cramped. Seating was outside along a narrow corridor. Only one person to prepare fresh waffles or coffee. Her service was very good and she was friendly.

Had to pay an extra $15 a night to park in the hotel parking lot, not a lot of parking on the side streets as I think other hotels in the area also charged customers to pay in their parking garages. The breakfast did not include any protein options, fresh fruit or yogurt.

I wouldn’t stay again. I like booking hotel rooms that offer complementary breakfast. This is the worst complimentary breakfast I ever have seen. You basically stand outside in a line and the breakfast is in a little closet that only 3 people can fit in and they don’t offer much. Don’t book this place for the breakfast. I drove in from out of state and have an SUV. The parking structure is tight and they charge you to park. The room was fine just when the next door people let the doors slam shut it is very loud. It’s an ok place but again. The breakfast is not a good incentive to book there. We ended going out for breakfast

The room was spacious and nice. I like the counter space. Close to the bathroom, lots of room for the toiletries. Just not very efficient how appliances were placed or set up. Like the table is on the other end of the room far from the microwave and refrigerator.. The breakfast was also a joke. Breakfast was juat cereal, bread and coffee and the space to get breakfast was so small.
