Service was adequate and clean. I was a little irritated after checkout bc I had 2 different charges on my credit card but after I called their office, they remedied the situation. Also, parking was available but they do charge $10 a night to park your car

Really comfortable bed and great pillows. Impressive breakfast with omelets, eggs and sausages. Not your standard continental fare. Only minor issue is no elevator so you need to drag your luggage up if on the second floor. Very convenient location for walking into downtown San Juan Capistrano

There were ants on the balcony. Ceiling light out. need more lights, no lamp on desk. We thought it was not necessary to pay $10.00 to park. We felt like we were getting ripped off. This is not downtown Chicago! You should get a space to park in the open air parking lot for guests. Breakfast was good, clean and spacious. The hot tub was terrible. I was looking forward to using it. No way!

Area is excellent, close to everything. Only Defect would be the jacuzzi. I literally cut my finger being in there. The jacuzzi itself is rocky instead of being smooth all around. Besides that it’s pleasant

This best western was satisfactory. The room and property were clean, however, I just have a couple of comments. The pool area isn't very inviting and there is no hot tub. The room was excellent and looked nice, but the carpet had an odor of mold likely due to it being older and shampooed beyond it's life. Carpet definitely needs to be replaced -looks fine, but smells. If the carpet was new and the pool was more inviting with a hot tub, I would have given this 5 stars. Based on the above, I give it 3. Front desk Manager was great, everything else fine. If you are choosing this for a quick stay it more than serves that purpose, but not if you are looking for a more luxurious, resort hotel type situation. Hope this helps!

Pros - Super friendly staff, very helpful. Quick and convenient check in / out. Well-stocked breakfast with many choices. Cons - Ants in the room, difficult location to get into or out of, $15 charge for parking but there's like 4 shopping complexes within a mile that don't tow and have free parking

The check in staff was helpful and very friendly. It was disappointing, however that the pool was too full of bugs and hadn’t been clean to even use. A pool was one of the reasons we selected this hotel. I in addition, the fire alarm in the room was chirping all night from either a low battery or dirty connections. The front desk staff was unable to get anyone to fix it for us, and we couldn’t reach it. Sadly, they were unable to do anything, but give a few extra best western points for losing an entire night sleep. Very disappointing! Yeah

The “+”: Conveniently located off Hwy 5 with a nice sized room. The “free” breakfast was good. The “-“ was huge…..charged $15 to park at the hotel!! This was not listed in the fees or price of the hotel when I paid on line. This hidden fee was listed in small print and considered an extra deducted from the $50 required security deposit. even the check in person could not explain why there was this fee for just a parking spot at the hotel. Obviously must be an issue for many people, as noted in the reviews (wish I would have read the reviews) and taped pieces of paper stating the parking fee in the lobby. I have never paid to park at a overnight stay type of hotel and will never stay here again. Rip off! The hotel needs a serious make over both inside and out (cracked tiles, rusted bathroom fixtures)

I am extremely disappointed with our recent stay at this hotel. The room was infested with roaches, which is absolutely unacceptable for any level of accommodation. We noticed them shortly after checking in, and it completely ruined our experience. We expected a clean and comfortable environment, but instead, we were left feeling uncomfortable and disgusted. Cleanliness and basic hygiene should be a top priority, and unfortunately, this hotel failed miserably. I would not recommend staying here until they address their pest problem and take better care of their facilities.

The bed wasn’t too bad, and the cleanliness was decent. It is a best western so I didn’t expect anything crazy for cleanliness or beauty. However, the room my boyfriend and I booked with my service dog was filled with ants. We had to quickly get ready for a wedding so we couldn’t switch rooms in the moment. When we got back from the wedding, our bathroom was filled with ants. The person on the phone tried to argue with my boyfriend and said we didn’t want to switch rooms- which isn’t true. We simply didn’t have time to switch right as we called. Wish I could submit the awful ant photos on this review. We only got comped minimally for this inconvenience. Will never stay here again, and definitely would not recommend.

Breakfast was the only good part of our stay. Baby cockroaches - hot water was only luke warm - sticky floors and carpet - room smell on arrival like disinfectant and dirt and bleach - holes in walls by floor - no umbrellas by pool as shown in photo - good luck.

Run down no frills hotel/motel. We used it to sleep for One night after attending a wedding. The walls were thin and lots of noise from large group of teenager boys staying above us. While everything was some what clean the place is really run down. I fell in the parking area and my knees were black from all the oil and loose tar/gravel when I fell. Other that the Mission Inn there are not a lot of hotels in the area if this hotel was renovated you could charge double what we paid and make it a better experience.

Flew in Friday evening to catch the window only front desk service after 10p (understandable). Front desk was sweet and friendly- appreciated that personality. The facility is clean and remote—it’s on the corner of a freeway exit and closest convenience is the gas station across the street. The room is large and spacious for two. Dated facility but it has its charm in a sunny and close to coastal area. Will stay here again on our next visit Pros -facility is old but has a beach sunny charm - staff is sweet and accommodating - remote but close enough to Dana Point and other sights Cons would probably be: - single waffle machine for breakfast- had one customer prep 2 waffles which is at 2:30m each so they were inconsiderate of others waiting. - no accessible vending machine after hours and the office machine ends at 10p so we are advised to go across the gas station

We only stayed here because we were going to a wedding in the area and our only options when booking were this and $1k/night at the Mission. We knew we weren't able to spend much time at the hotel aside from sleeping, so this hotel worked out fine. It's not the cleanest and noise travels directly through your front door.

The beds need a comforter. One thin blanket and two sheets won’t cut it. Had to run the heater all night. Too cold not good. Also the door needs to be repaired or replaced. Too much space between door and jams. Air, noise, and light came through. Also, carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced. Sorry for the poor review but please see room 217 for yourself

Front desk staff was awesome and very accommodating. We arrived on the Amtrak with our luggage and asked if they could hold it until check in, they actually let us check in early. This was very helpful since we were traveling with small kids. They also let us check out later and held onto our luggage while our return train arrived. Breakfast was great! We would definitely stay here again.

I arrived after dark following a long drive and waited a bit for the front desk clerk to return, she was assisting another guest, which was understandable. At both check-in and check-out, I was helped by the same young lady, who was competent and pleasant. Unfortunately, my experience took a turn for the worse during the night. The night-shift clerk called my room accusing me of being noisy. In reality, it was the intoxicated guest next door arguing and physically fighting with their partner. This left me feeling unsafe, and I was shocked that such behavior was tolerated. Sadly, the overall atmosphere felt more like a low-budget motel than the Best Western brand I’ve trusted in the past. The worst part? I paid for a sleepless, stressful night, on a bed so hard, I’ve laid on concrete that was softer.

Arrived in the evening and was greeted by Destiny. She got us all squared away quickly and helped us get set up with late checkout. She was super friendly, and helpful with us during our stay. When it's time for us to head back, we'll look this spot up.

The girls were so rude and took too long to give us the keys, also they were not even friendly, first time at this location and the last one of course. We are almost every weekend out there and we are always treated so nice that this time was so uncomfortable. No more visiting this place

This is one of the better Best Western Hotels I’ve I stayed in! Very clean and professional and I was able to check in a little early without a problem. The room was nice and comfortable. Beds were great, and it was spacious. The morning breakfast was very good too with many options, not just continental breakfast stuff. I will definitely stay here again!

Whoever was working at 1pm was absolutely terrible. Didn’t help us at all and super rude. Thank good the women that was there when WE FINALLY WERE ALLOWED TO CHECK IN AT 7:50 pm, thankfully she was great and very nice.

BE CAREFUL BOOKING THIS PLACE! YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR PARKING $15 A DAY!! As soon as checking in the front desk lady (she was a little bigger) was very rude. Once getting settled into our place they have left the previous people’s shampoo & body soap. I would also find little baby ants everywhere. If you want your room service, they only had that on certain days. I’m not one to usually leave a review but I felt like this hotel need one. I do have to say check out was easy. Just turn in the key and ready to go. It was a different lady that attended us and she was super nice and friendly about it.

Relatively convenient, but be aware that it is on the other side of the 5 freeway from attractions and dining. This is walkable during the day, but you may need to drive or take ride share at night. It was surprisingly and pleasantly quiet given its proximity to the freeway.

It was very difficult to find the actual entrance and there is no large lighted signage to help either. Just an immediate right turn into what looks like a small vacant fenced building lot. Other than this, everything else was fine.

We had a great experience at our stay. We were celebrating my bday month! The hotel was nice and well kept. I mostly enjoyed the breakfast, WOW! They had from cereal , waffles, oatmeal with many sides to add such as chocolate bites, dried cranberry, walnuts, silk & brown sugar:how awesome! They also had fruit, juice, eggs, cheese with eggs, potatoes, Greek yogurt, bagels, bread, cream cheese, coffee, tea, I am definitely booking this location for my future stays when visiting this area. I was so and am impressed with the breakfast spread I had to compliment the woman setting it up! Great job ladies!
