Residence Inn by Marriott San Juan Capistrano

This hotel would be fine if you do not need internet. Even our phones barely worked and the TV buffered. Also, if you are disabled beware that what they call an ADA room is not modified. I asked for us to be moved to an ADA room because the toilets are really low and there is nothing to hold on to. The room they moved us to was on a different floor and I would guess that it was the farthest room in the hotel. This ADA room was exactly the same as their non ADA room. It also had no rails by the toilet and it still had a small step up to get in the shower. The doorways were large but the furniture was placed such that a wheelchair would not be able to get by. The positives were that the staff was very nice and our bill was adjusted. When you have a handicapped placard they waive the parking fee of 16.00 a day but it does not happen automatically or it did not in our case. They provide a free breakfast of the usual eggs, toast and sausages, etc.. The lobby is nice but the rooms are popcorn ceiling, 1960’s style. I thought that the 200 plus that I paid was steep for what we received.

Liked that the kids could entertain themselves with the mini golf, basketball court and pool! Breakfasts was a plus

It is a great hotel for a family trip. Basic breakfast ( cereals, yogurt, bread and eggs) is included. I was expecting a waffle maker, however, the French toast was good. Enjoyed playing basketball and putting ( golf).

Loud air compressor , room took a long time to cool down, electricity went out in area and the emergency lights in the hallways did not work. Open parking but they charged for parking.

Immaculate and well run, with surprise amenities like basketball court and heated pool. A real pleasure

The pproperty was very close to lots of good restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores and more. There was even a Costco just down the street. To most places, it was about a 6 min drive. Not close enough to places to just walk but syill very convenient. I loved that it was a pet friendly place. I did not have a pet with me but I saw plenty of dogs; and i was pleased to say that the property was very clean and very quiet. Definitely would stay again!

Hidden parking fees, $22/day to park.😠 Not much of a breakfast. Will not stay again.

The location of this place is perfect. 10 minutes away from the beach, shopping, and downtown. I love having the kitchen as an option. At check in, I was shocked when Mason told me that the room (a suite with a separate room with a door) I had reserved 6 MONTHS ahead of time was not available. My spouse snores like a bulldozer and that was not going to be ok with me. After he saw the distress and almost a heart attack waiting to happen, he checked me into the room I had originally reserved. The suite is great but the house keeping team needs to be trained better. Nothing is wiped and fingerprints are everywhere. The refrigerator handle was sticky. I will stay there again but next time, I will bring Clorox Wipes and wipe everything down.

Nice, clean and comfortable hotel within a short distance from the marina, restaurants, shops. Complimentary breakfast had a variety of choices and was excellent.

The noisiest traffic outside and no double pain widows. Bed right near window. Hard to sleep. Dog urine in the hallway. Helpful and friendly reception though.

This property is the best kept secret in Southern Orange County. The rooms are very clean, sheets are crisp, beds are comfortable. The staff was personable and helpful. And you cannot beat the price.

The bathroom floor area was very sticky. Towels were put down to walk on.

The tops of the cabinet drawers in the bathroom/bedroom were super dusty There was a pink film around the drains of the bathroom sink, shower area The faucet had a lot of soap scum. A lot of hair around the corners of bathroom areas. There was a kitchen sink but no dish soap. The pool was really cold The sidewalks badly need a good pressure washing. Lots of stains, gum and leaf's everywhere on sidewalks. The front desk staff gal over explained everything when asked a Yes or No question.

The hotel in general is dirty.Of the 5 nights we stayed there, no one has vacuumed the corridor / hallways. The sofa bed mattress is so old that you can feel the springs poking you. When you request for fresh beddings they will refuse to do it saying room is not scheduled for that day and they usually do it on the 4th day. tgey will tell you they are short staffed. Doesn’t feel like you check in a marriott hotel standard . Also no o e even reached out to me when i complained about their sifa mattress, they didncare. Dana point hotel is a disgrace to Marriott hotels.

This property is right by a commercial railroad track. Because the property has not applied to receive a quiet zone residential status with the city, the freight trains are required by law to honk their horn three times while passing by the property. If you don't want to wake up at 3am to the tune of a freight train horn with tracks right by the property, don't stay here. The whole property shakes when a train goes by. The horn will wake you up.

The hotel room is directly next to the train track which runs twice every evening past 11:00 pm. This made for a noisy, disruptive evening. When turned on, the air conditioner makes a very loud humming noise that cannot be ignored. The noise stops when the ac is turned off. Fortunately it wasn’t a warm weekend but I can imagine as soon as the temperatures go up, the ac unit motor is going to be extremely disruptive. Being on the first floor there is a view of Costco parking and no peek of the ocean as stated by the front desk. The rooms were clean, stocked with basic kitchen essentials like cups, dishes, and silverware, along with a full size refrigerator. There is complimentary breakfast served.

We visited family two nights and like staying here. The only downfall is the slow and spotting internet and phone service that was frustrating.

Nice property and amazing and friendly staff. The issue with this property is it is right next to train tracks. There is a crossing below the property and trains pass all day and night and they have to blast the horns due to the crossing. Two nights and very little sleep. If you need to stay here, I highly recommend you request a room on the street side and far away from the train tracks.

My wife and daughter and I stayed here one night for a soccer tournament. Me and wife had the king bed, 15 year old on the sofa bed and all slept great. Kitchen with a full size fridge and plates and utensils was amazing to have, as we ordered in food. The suites are very clean comfy and well appointed here, they sell beer in the lobby and have bottle openers in the rooms. What more can you ask for?

Excellent location, amenities, and room

At the check-in, I have never in my life at a Marriott been treated worse than the way the guy and the one behind the counter treated me and my sister who also checked in. They wouldn’t even negotiate any kind of pay to upgrade. They wouldn’t honor the fact that we were Marriott rewards members or silver star members, and wouldn’t accommodate any requests that we had and then slammed us with, a ton of money in charges.

The front desk person was outstanding. He was tall, black man ( i forgot his name) but so helpful, friendly, courteous, and one of the bust front dest people I have ever met. THANK YOU....

Staff was incredibly helpful. I was travel alone with my dog and someone on staff helped unload my car and luggage dolly. Breakfast was consistently good.

Arrived shiortly after noon and requested early check in so we could bathe and change to prepare for a friends birthday party at 3 pm. The young man at the desk was very helpful and considerate to make a room available to us. Clean, comfortable, professionally run hotel. Will return to stay here for sure.

I paid for my room in advance to stay 2 nights in a Double Queen Suite. When I arrived with my wife and three kids I was informed my room was double booked and no longer availabale and that no rooms were available even though I already paid. The desk staff said they arranged a 2 night stay at a different hotel 20 minutes away. When we arrived at that hotel we were informed that our room was only available for 1 night that we would have to move again. After several phone calls with the very rude Residence Inn Manager, Valarie Roriguez, we were finally moved to another hotel that had a room available for us. When I asked about the refund that I was promised I was told to contact Expedia. The staff even had the audacity to blame Expedia for thier own failure to contact me and tell me that my room was given away before I arrived. This experience was HORRIBLE!

No complaints about our time during our stay as we had what we needed. My only complaint is that staff is not super responsive when things are left. Unfortunately my husband left behind 3 new shirts with tags still on them in the closet and we didn’t realize until a week after when we were flying out. The staff was not helpful and seems like they are not organized when it comes to lost and found items OR staff is dishonest.

I have stayed at this property a few times. I recently made a reservation but it was for the wrong dates. I immediatly tried to remedy the situation, and the hotel refused to refund my money. There have been other times I had reservations and didn't use the room, nor ask for a refund. This ONE time I asked and they wouldn't give one. Very disappointed.

Breaker tripped a couple of times when plugging in fan. Maintenance responded right away.

Despite having a reservation, and prechecking in about 1, (room wasn't ready, didn't receive a key, left my luggage) when I returned about 11:45 pm, there was not a room available. If you haven't returned my money, I expect it immediately. I will intentionally not use your services again.

Convenient location to Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente communities. Marriott Resident Inn staff was welcoming and helpful. Great staff!

Comfortable hotel, great location for our needs but didn't anticipate the hourly train whistle from the Amtrak that ended around 1:00am then started again at 6:00am.

Great hotel. Nice kitchen with everything you need to make coffee or have stuff in the fridge. Perfect location for going back and forth to Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano. Nothing is near the hotel within walking distance. So if you want to walk out and have restaurants or shopping this is not the hotel to stay in. We enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful, everything is clean. Breakfast amazing. Free tour in Trolley right at the door is a must do.

All was seamlessly great except for the breakfast! It was cold,(eggs, potatoes, sausage), and flavorless. Change up the coffee as well. It was undrinkable…
