We found this property and staff to be nearly perfect. We had one of the “Harborview” rooms which overlooked the street and further out the bay, and was super clean, with high-end furnishings, linens, etc. The common area which is accessible through the spa, is located an elevated interior courtyard with comfortable patio furniture and gas fueled fire pits. The staff was very accommodating and helpful in all of your inquiries. The pictures shown for the property are an accurate and current representation of the property and rooms.

For parking, I recommend unloading in front of hotel, they offer complimentary valet parking. Vehicle will be parked across or the next parking lot over from hotel, parking is complementary. That is a BIG bonus in the city setting. lol Hotel was very nice, clean, staff was amazing. Gym was small, but perfect with one of each main machine you would need. Gym is located in the area of the spa, you have free access to the steam shower. Room was great, spacious with a balcony to sit on. bathroom was amazing, walk in shower, big bathtub, no jets which is a plus (personally I don’t like jets, cleaner without jets). Great location, close to main heart of the city, lots of restaurants, ice cream, coffee, shopping options. The Sausalito Ferry is maybe 5 mins walking from hotel, we took the ferry to SF, spent the day and Uber back to hotel, about 37.00 for Uber, 41.00 for ferry- 2 Adults 1 kid. Highly recommend hotel, we will definitely stay here again.

I’ve now stayed a total of two weeks at the Casa Madrona. I love Sausalito. This time, my room was expensive yet not overpriced: it was large and comfortable, clean and luxurious. Most front desk staff were incredibly welcoming; one was rude. Appreciate the EV charging. This time, bad air from cement plants across the bay was stuck in my room, but last time the air was clear and beautiful.

Spa was broken which was deciding factor of choosing this hotel, disappointed that it wasn’t disclosed prior to and that no compensation etc was taken into account for this. There were quite a few other options in the area for us to stay for less (even with bay views) but specifically selected for a spa amenity.

An incredibly beautiful place with a great location. Gorgeous view. Bed was a little uncomfortable. Be prepared to walk many steps. It’s on a hill. There is an elevator for the 1st to 4th flr. I was on the 6th.if you’re squeamish about driving hills, valet park it and take the elevator up.

Enjoyed our 1 night stay in harbor view room on 3rd floor. Loved sitting on balcony watching the dynamic scene of tourists and sail boats. Lots of room. Refrigerator, big bathroom and steam room across the hall.

Pros. Lovely comfortable hotel very well situated for central Sausalito. Our room was large and comfortable. Big bathroom. Separate shower. Staff friendly. Cons. No bar or restaurant. Need to go out for coffee in the morning (although there are pods in the room). Not really a problem as there are lots of alternatives in town. But if you are one for a late night cocktail in a hotel bar. You will be disappointed

We booked a rooom, and the room has lots of aunts, on the table, sofa and bed. The reception guy called nick didn’t try to help speak like a valley accent! Very bad experiences and dirty hotel!

Nice, cozy, and charming historical hotel. Unfortunately, there was a sewer smell in the hallway, maybe from an issue from their basement, which was unpleasant at first but improved the next day. The wet sauna was great, and the view was beautiful.

We paid a premium price to spend the night at this property. The view was nice, but that was the only thing that we liked. The most egregious issue was that when I went to take a bath in the morning, I noticed that the drain was closed, and there was about a cm of standing water in the tub (I hadn't noticed the night before because it was a low level of water). This was gross and I had to clean the tub myself before being able to bathe. We were in an adjoining room and we could hear noise in the evening (we got there about 830) and in the morning, until we left. Very bad soundproofing. The bed was probably a hybrid coil mattress, because I could feel every move by my spouse. The hallway was very cold and felt like A/C was on. The carpet looked a bit tired. It could have been the dark lighting. Gym was minimal, but adequate. All in all, it did not feel like an up-scale hotel.

Casa Madrona is a beautiful hotel. We did a "self upgrade" to a beautiful room over looking the water. The room seemed fairly new, however when we got to the room there was cigarette dust on the chair and many of the walls were scuffed. We stayed for 2 days and the first day the cleaning people didn't arrive until 4PM when we were resting for a long day out. We rescheduled them to 5PM so we could rest. The next day we put out a do not disturb card from 3:30 - 4:30 and no one came to clean the room at all. Very disappointing for >$500/night "boutique" hotel. You think they would have a check list to ensure all rooms are cleaned.

Great property and great location - I would definitely recommend. The only thing to point out - Sausalito has terrible network coverage (at least Verizon) and the hotel wifi was hit or miss - iPad connected just fine but my phone did not.

The rooms had no sound protection from the noises from the street. Could hear every car, every person walking on the sidewalk. If you plan on sleeping in, 6am would be around the average time. Garbage trucks and street sweepers come by every day. The room adjacent, we could hear every conversation. Found ants in room over our 2 night stay. Ear plugs are an absolute must. When checking out, hotel management only comped resort fee.

The hotel is fine. It is a little tired and worn, but the main issue is the customer facing staff - ie front desk. They don't seem to care about customer service or providing a good guest experience. I won't go into all the details, but it really is disappointing and surprising that this so called 4 star hotel with rooms at $450 a night can't properly train or educate its staff to be more accomodating sympathetic and genuine in their work. Every request and issue seems like a chore. Wifi was sketchy and I had to spend 15 minutes on a tech support call to get it to barely work in my room. The shower water was tepid and went warm to cold and never heated up. Overall, its a great location. The place is interesting, but if you want good service, don't count on it,

Due to system tech issues check in took nearly an hour. Front desk clerk did the best he could to make up for the inconvenience. However the manager called the next day and said they would not honor what was promised. He was extremely rude and unhelpful. It's a beautiful hotel in a great location, but this experience left us very upset and disappointed. We will not be returning because of this.

If this is VIP Access experience, I am really sorry about regular one. My whole review is longer but long story short: either it is a discrimination issue (they pick the customers to behave nice versus bad) or some of the staff is good while the rest is the worst. We arrived early (11.11 am sharp), we totally understood the room being not ready. it should not be big science to be able to make an estimate to say when. they had a memorized script “we will call you when it is ready”. We have a toddler so we walked around, had some fun, came back at 2.30. waited until 3.30 pm at lobby. No one offered something or even sempatized. I want to make smt clear; yes they don’t have to but these are things makes some hotels better than others! Around 10 pm our son was coughing so we wanted to ask for late check out (I had read it they could offer that), my husband went downstairs. The late night shift staff told him “It could most probably possible but he has to check in the morning at 8 am.” What? This is the weirdest reply. Late shift staff is much nicer but they don’t have any authority I presume. So in the morning he went, they said “we are fully booked”. Without even asking room number. memorized script. I checked hotels.com app, they had 3 available rooms for the very same day! I told them what I see, he says “11 am check out time”. So, if you want to feel like you are staying a low end hotel with a great room while paying high end hotel money, go for it. I hope this helps

Poggio restaurant below the hotel is perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Marvelous service and delicious food!

The suite was a large space, comfortable and clean. Many excellent restaurants within walking distance. Poggios is right next door and is open at 6:30 am for breakfast and late for dinner. Great food!

It’s got perfect coastal vibes with the architecture nestling the rooms in different orientations on different levels connecting them with manageable steps as though the whole Casa was designed in an Escher painting. The room was super cozy and comfortable and the food in the restaurant downstairs, Poggio’s was exquisite! Great waiting staff! Some curt (possibly towards melanin(?)) than others but overall phenomenal service!
