Best Western Plus Inn Scotts Valley

Great location off the freeway right next door to a Jack in the box and Carls Jr is within walking distance also. It has a very comfortable mattress and room is spacious. Treadmill in gym has been out of order for awhile so that was disappointing. Pool was not heated as of this review. Good breakfast w/ hot items and the other basics you get at most hotels. I would stay here again.

Wi-Fi is a huge factor in choosing where I stay and the Wi-Fi was not working during my 6 night stay. Parking was also limited so I had to park on the streets one night and squeeze into the last space another night.

Breakfast was delicious, and the Nescafé coffee maker was an additional welcoming surprise FOR SURE! .. hot, delicious, and so many selections of drinks to choose from! Jacuzzi was clean, and hot!

Stayed one night while passing through the area and it was good for everything we needed. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. There are dining option, stores, and coffee all near by. My only minor complaint is that the parking lot is extremely cramped and after returning from a late night we had to park on the street due to a full lot and many people double parked because the stalls were so tight. Besides parking, everything else was great.

Pictures show what we got. Pool and spa under construction. Gym is small, not much equipment. Front desk staff very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and had everything you'd expect from a Best Western. Hotel location is very convenient off 17. It's not fancy but it gets the job done.

Always like staying at this best western plus rooms are clean beds are comfortable and the pool and hot tube are a nice perk, not to mention the continental breakfast Is not to bad either.

Everyone was nice, the room was clean, parking is a lil tight but not a big deal. The only thing was that the toilet ran all night, like the water in the toilet and it was so loud…made it hard to sleep. The pool was nice but the hot tub looked discolored. The walls of the hot tub were dirty, maybe thats why. But overall safe and quiet… all ok for the price.

Very nice lobby,staff was polite and accommodating. Beds are comfortable, the room was clean. Breakfast was good with waffles, eggs, bacon potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, and yogurt available. The only thing I absolutely was turned off by was dirt hot tub. There was a thick film of dirt and scum on the tiles and water was mirky.

Woman in breakfast room was quick to fill items such as eggs and muffins which tan out. Nice set up. The staff is friendly. There is a jack in the box next door for easy access as well as easy access to highway.

This was our first time staying at Best Western. The receptionists were very nice and helpful. It was was easy to find and convenient to get there and to get to the highway. The only thing is the parking lot was rather small…especially for larger vehicles like SUV and trucks.

Dirty carpet in the room smelly due to a broken mini refrigerator .

The rooms have a see through shade on the window and when it’s nighttime, the streetlights and property lights hit the room like a spotlight and it’s hard to fall asleep. We had to cover the window with the bed comforter, and even then, it was still bright. Will never stay here again. Got no sleep!!! Lastly, the toilet was not cleaned properly. It was stained with feces.

Trash in the trash can, and what appeared to be blood smeared on the bathroom door.

Enjoyed the full breakfast. Staff at front desk very friendly and quick check in. The room amenities included microwave and fridge. Hot Tub and Pool area was very nice. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job cleaning room. The mid score was because carpets in room needed to be shampoo clean. Carpets dusty and musty smell. I shared with Front desk clerk and she reassured me that would be addressed. Thank you for a wonderful mini vacation.

Just an average BW property with convenient location. Several complaints though: Housekeeping service is not done AT ALL unless you request it. We requested the night before as required, but no service was done! Had to bring our used wet towels to front desk & were shown into hotel laundry to drop off & pick up new ourselves. There was a large group of construction workers staying @ hotel. Their extra-large trucks & generators on trailers took up all the parking in 2 small lots to begin with, so we had to park out on street 2 out of 3 nights & walk long way to rooms by multiple leering men & awoke to 5am loud diesel trucks. Parking is not enforced; many other guests also took up 2 spots per vehicle for no reason. Breakfast typical spread was ok, but both coffee & juice machines broken intermittently (or maybe just out of products & hotel hung out of order signs?). On plus side, easy walk to restaurants, microbrewery & market.

Room was dirty - squashed dead bug was stuck on top of the radiator, floors were dirty as heck (my slippers have never been dirtier, yuck!!) Otherwise, it worked for the purpose… I feel I paid way too much for it being so dirty, though… 😖

I was not told this at check in and was surprised to see our beds not made after the first night. Apparently it is only provided after the 4th night. When we needed new towels, the front desk person asked, “Right now?” it sounded like I was inconveniencing her. Then the next day we needed our trash cans emptied. When I called the front desk, they said they will have housekeeping come in to empty them. When we returned to the room later that evening, the trash cans were still overflowing. I had to ask a hotel worker who was sweeping outside to throw the bags out and give me new bags. I expected better customer service for what we paid. We will not be staying at a Best Western again.

Drunk man attempted to break into my room. Police called. No hot water for 2 days. Manager notified twice. Finally on third day, I had hot water. Carpet in room was filthy! Large black spots. My white socks were black from walking in room. Toilet under rim was black. Looked like it was never cleaned under the rim. Bath tub was barely clean.

The lobby was in good condition and the room was in ok condition. The beds were very hard, the bath fan was horribly noisy. The room smelled like marijuana when we first entered. For over $200 a night, I expected more. I would not stay here again.

No fan in bathroom , shower head was mediocre, tv control was impossible to figure out. Mattress was hard and springy.

This older style motel has been modernized with a pleasant check in area and breakfast room. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. It had everything we needed, including an iron and ironing board, useful since we were going to a wedding! Breakfast was included, with plenty of self service options.

The air-conditioning thermostat did not work well so we were either freezing or hot all night. There was an underlying smell of smoke that got stronger as the night went on. What I texted to the customer service in the morning: Someone has definitely been smoking in this room. Allergies kept me awake for most of the night. They replied: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear that you've experienced discomfort during your stay. I understand how allergies can be difficult, especially when traveling. Our team is committed to ensuring a pleasant environment for all of our guests, and we take concerns about smoking very seriously. When you checked in yesterday afternoon, the room was thoroughly inspected, and no signs of smoke or any unusual order were detected. Additionally, our supervisor did not report any concerns about the room from the previous guest, which suggests there was no apparent smoke at that time. If there had been a noticeable smell, we would have expected it to be brought to our attention right away. We're always happy to assist guests with room changes or address any issues as soon as they arise. In order to smell smoke that has settled into the carpet, someone has to spend more time than just a quick inspection and cleaning products will mask the smell for housekeeping. The smell got stronger as the night went on. All our friends who live near the Scotts Valley location said they would never stay here, we should have listened.

The room was clean and spacious. The bed was hard. There are no hooks close to the shower to hold your towel. The breakfast was good, but the coffee machine was horrible. Coffee tasted like instant coffee. The room had a Keurig and coffee pods provided were excellent

The property itself is very old and worn down. Everything is loud, the plumbing the wall air unit. It was clean. The person that checked me in was very professional and friendly, but the overall quality and condition of the property is a three star at best I walked around from there. There were a couple Fast food restaurants and a convenience store nearby but that’s it unless you wanna drive. . I am not sure where the plus part of the title of the property falls into place.

This hotel is as okay for the price. It was also conveniently located for us. The property itself was somewhat lacking. It’s basically an upgraded version of a cheaper motel. The rooms are very small if there are two queen beds. The bathroom is also very small. It would also be great if there was some sort of nightlight or small lamp because it was very dark in the room at night, making it hard to get to the bathroom. The fan in the bathroom was very loud and came on with the light so we would disturb each other in the night. The shower handle was also a bit broken in our room. They do have a nice pet area that our dog liked!

Terrible experience we had to wait over 45 minutes for a front desk employee to arrive and check us in @ 7:30pm. Continently breakfast was terrible no knives service employee did not speak English. Morning front desk employee very rude we asked for knives he never responded or said anything. This behavior seem to be very consistent with the average hotels in California please help fix this problem if you can

Check in was excellent. Receptionist offered us choices of location within the property and 1st or 2nd floor. When we entered the room that she gave us, we detected a mildew odor. I called her from the room to see if we could get a better one. She apologized and offered to make up 3 sets of keys for available rooms and personally brought the access cards out to us. We inspected the choices together so that we could select a very suitable room. We were impressed with her professionalism and sincerity. The room was great. Very comfortable beds and nice quality towels and linens. Very quiet. Would definitely come back again!

VERY NICE HOTEL! VERY KIND AND PROFESSIONAL FRONT DESK STAFF, ESPECIALLY ADRIAN.

I arrived shortly after their check in time of 3pm. I was told the room was not ready and it would be 30 min. as they needed to clean the room I returned 45 min later and was told they had not started cleaning the room and it would be an additional 30 min. I returned 30 min later and the room was not ready. I was told it would be an additional 20 min. I came back after waiting an hour and a half to check in. I told the recieptionist that I did not understand why it would take an hour and a half to get my room clean and why did it take more than 45 min to even start the cleaning since I was not trying to check in early. The receptionist got defensive and said it had not been 1.5 hours. She said you showed up a little after 3pm.. I told her it was now 4.40pm . She just said oh your right and the room would be ready in 10 min. I waited in the lobby. When the room was ready she basically threw the key at me and said.. "heres your key. I asked if the stairs was the only way to get to my room and she said yes. After hauling all my stuff upstairs I discovered there was an elevator.. This experience really left a bad taste. I asked to speak to a manager in the morning and he was not there. I asked if he could call and was told he will get in touch with me. I have not heard from the hotel Manager. At minimum they could have offered something.. Even a late check out . The receptionist dropped the ball and she really could care less that I waited 1.5 hours.

There was a minor issue with our room but the young lady at the desk resolved it within minutes and was very cordial. Our stay was perfect after that.

ADRIAN AT THE FRONT DESK WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! WARM WELCOME, AND MADE SURE I WAS COMFORTABLE IN MY ROOM. HE IS THE MODEL EMPLOYEE THAT A HOTEL NEEDS, ESPECIALLY DURING A BUSY TIME WHEN MULTITASKING IS NECESSARY!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! VERY NICE BEST WESTERN HOTEL. I WILL BE BACK!

A little far out of the way

This is a great location right next to SR17, right off and on to the highway. I could not hear the highway at all. The room was spacious, well kept, and clean. I would stay again. The pool area is nice, and the staff is very friendly and professional.

The location was great. It was close to the beach and forest. It was quiet.

Overpriced for the noise factor--directly backing up to Hwy. 17, guests AND staff loudly talking too late and too early outside our room. If you can stand to keep the climate control & fan on all night, do it or bring your best earplugs. Room keywords didn't work 3 of 4 times. End of town so not much walking access and unsafe crossing Hwy. 17 on/off ramp. Next time, not this motel.

Quiet location, All necessities are close by. My room was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. The only really BAD thing is their pet policy: i will never pay $30.00 a night for each pet. Best Western, you can do better.

This property is in a quiet area but within driving distance to downtown Santa Cruz and all its attractions. Will be back soon!

Next to freeway so I heard lots of traffic all the time. Easy to get to.

Nice quiet location. Close to boardwalk and downtown. Friendly staff.

Amazing place! I have been to many best western hotels and inns and...this lobby definetely was one of the best! Amazing , quite..rooms were clean and breakfast was amazing. My wife loved the coffee machine that had over 12 types of coffee!

Alex was very helpful and kind. The spa was wonderful after a long day and the breakfast was very good. Our room was clean and the area was quiet and safe.

It was a good note for the price. No road noise. Good breakfast. There was even a fancy coffee machine in the breakfast room that made a bunch of different drinks. Our kids had the hot chocolate for breakfast each day. Ha!

Breakfast really but. Coffee machine broken.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The cleanliness was okay, but there were stains on the couch, bathroom, and curtains. Very disappointing to find out that there was no coffee available during breakfast because the coffee maker was broken.

Our stay was ok though we had a problem with the shower nozzle missing in the bathroom making it difficult to use with the water blasting out of the pipe in the wall. However, the staff had it repaired by the second day of our stay. The complimentary breakfast choices were a bit limited and egg a cheese dish they had wasn’t very good.
