We had the best room with Lanai looking right out on to Tiki Bar, Restaurant and Pool area with short walk to beach. We enjoyed being able to share amenities with the other resorts as the beach wasn’t great here but three waters was very nice!

The property and room were very clean. All the staff weee friendly and accommodating. Great food and drinks at the bar. They had a free shuttle to take you to restaurants for dinner. I loved that they had sister properties you could use as well.

Great stay with family!! The location is perfect! We really enjoyed the Rum Runner water taxi that runs daily to the other resorts. We spent the afternoon at Three Waters Resort. The captain’s Jen and Brianna were so awesome on the Rum Runner!! So knowledgeable and friendly! Our boys loved Patrick who does Fish like a Local fishing out on the dock!! He is so nice!! This was our 2nd stay here and we will definitely be back!!

The resort was lovely and provided everything we could possibly need. They had indoor and outdoor dining and bars, a pool, fully equipped small gym, docking for boats, a shuttle service by land and a shuttle boat to their other two sister resorts. They have bicycles, kayaks, and paddle boards to use. There was fishing gear available to rent and for $3.50 a ball you could hit golf balls in the water.. When we arrived they offered us a free cocktail and a refillable water bottle to use around the resort and take with you.Just stayed 2 nights and wish I had booked it longer. Islamarada is the place to be. Wish we hadn't left to go to Marathon. I will definitely return. My favorite place to stay in the Keys.

The staff was very personable and accommodating.. it was our 32nd weeding anniversary and they had left a handwritten note and a treat in our room… it was appreciated… The grounds were nice and clean with the exception of the water area around the end of the property where the event area is located did have ALOT of trash which was unsightly.. Having use of the Rum Runner, bicycles and shuttle service was very convenient.. The view from our ground floor ocean view room was pretty awesome..

This was our second stay there and will definitely go back. The location is great and there is plenty of well-maintained beach area to enjoy. The room was large, clean and updated. However, the view from the room left a lot to be desired. We booked a standard room so we didn't have expectations one way or the other, but the window was located chest-up (bottom half was wall) and overlooked the roof of the restaurant. We did have a partial view of the ocean, but only if you looked out the corner. The Rum Runner (water taxi) and free shuttle were great amenities to have!

The property very obviously still had hints of its age as you walked the hallways. The smell of mildew was in the carpet. The second floor had a staff meeting space that smelled like food, and the talking was very loud at different times of the day.

The property is in a great location; the views are unmatched. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfy. What keeps this property from being a resort is the housekeeping schedule and not letting guests know that there will be no housekeeping, and no refills on things like toilet paper and coffee, and your garbage would not be emptied. We arrived on Monday, and we drank the K-cups on Tuesday before heading out for the day. By Wednesday, when we had not seen any housekeeping service. I reached out to guest services via text about 9:30am and was told by Christina that since we were only staying 4 nights, we would not receive housekeeping services. I was disappointed and was not informed of this policy at check-in or at the time of booking on Expedia. I then went to the lobby to find coffee, while there I stopped at the front desk and was told I could have a "reset" of towels, toilet paper, coffee, garbage pick-up etc. but not a full service. Perfect, I thought. We went on with our day and I returned to the room a couple of times and still nothing. Finally, we had run out of Kleenex that we were using as toilet paper, so I reached out again to see if we could at least get some toilet paper. By this time, it is almost 6pm. Finally, someone brings us a single roll of toilet paper and a plastic bag with 4 towels in it. That was the extent of housekeeping that we received. Our garbage was never emptied our entire stay.

Beautiful property, staff was wonderful. Our room was clean and well appointed. The hallways could use a good vacuuming and the furniture in our room and the lobby areas could use a good upholstery cleaning also. The areas outside were well maintained. A beautiful place, just needs a little TLC.

I selected this stay based on past reviews which were mostly 4 stars and property photos but was very disappointed when we actually entered our room. The condition of the furniture, upholstery, mattress/bedding, draperies is very worn, tattered and filthy. Daily housekeeping was a towel change, trash empty and a scoot out of the room, no actual cleaning was done. Our sheets were not changed for 3/4 days even though it was needed...sand/oils etc. The boxspring is badly stained and the bedskirt to cover this boxspring does not fit appropriately, never neat or tidy and half covered if at all-no effort. The dresser is warped so there is not a flat top surface, the drawers lean forward & kept sliding open, the hinges on the fridge cabinet door are hanging off, the toe kick is rotten along with the bed base platform. The shower glass and mirrors not cleaned, the floors not cleaned once, the sink and countertops not cleaned/wiped, the soap dish never cleaned/filled with soap mess, sliding doors never touched or the door tracks for years, the balcony glass railing smudged with fingerprints, water stains way prior to our arrival. The water in the shower has a very bad sulfur/rotten egg smell 5 minutes into bathing, awful. No idea if this should be concerning or not. The positive.. grounds, beach, pool, landscaping are beautiful, front and back. The lobby, bar and lounge seating are well done, breakfast is amazing! Shuttle service is awesome-great drivers!!

It’s a beautiful property and the staff is wonderful. The gentleman for activity rentals was amazing. It’s not a big resort and that was a plus so you’re never feeling crowded. We were able to sit at the fire pit one night, the kids played ping pong and we got chairs at the pool/beach. But… they need to gut the inside. So much mold in the rooms and stairwell. Mold in the bathroom vent and rusty water dripping out. Chunks of tile missing in the bathroom. They told us at check in about the game room and found on our own it’s no longer in existence. And the prices to eat are insane. Easily $120 every meal for 3 people. Some food was amazing and worth the price (lobster bisque) but kids Kraft ma and cheese is not worth the cost nor the aweful Cesar salad. Can’t wait to go back to the Keys but staying elsewhere. It’s just not worth the price.

We were down in that area for a wedding. Several/families staying there. Walked in and smelled like must/mold. (According to all families) phone didn’t work, the safe didn’t work, tv didn’t work (after 4 requests fixing it. Not that we watched it a lot…but it’s the point for an expensive “resort”), no hot water in the sink in bathroom to wash hands or face. Offer free coffee in the am but 2 out of 5 days they were out. They were pleasant at the front desk. Tried to get a different room to no avail. And don’t get a 6 oz coke from the squirter outside at the Tiki bar. $5.00 per cup no refills.

Common areas are very nice and ability to use other facilities is a big plus. Some aspects of the rooms need updating and TLC. Cleaning services were poor as we returned to an open room door and room only half cleaned. No explanation from management. A bit disappointed given the high rate we paid.

We have stayed here before but this time it smelled like we were staying down in the basement. It had a horrible mildew smell that was annoying and unpleasant, but room was nice. We had a ground level Lanai and that was my favorite part and worth the extra so we could sit outside and get fresh air. It had 2 lounge chairs with a small table, and 2 chairs to sit on and the view was spectacular as always. They had activities for the kids as it was Easter and we saw the Easter bunny. There was a man at the dock with fishing poles in the morning and the kids were out there fishing too. They also had an Easter brunch but we weren't able to stay. The boutique had really cute things and they sold quality bathing suits.

I booked a partial Oceanview king room based on the pictures that showed up on the Hotels.com website ... they showed palm trees and Oceanview .... my room was on the second floor and my view was mostly of the parking lot ... the ocean was visible but mostly parking lot and the room was above a room that they hotel must have used as an HVAC or laundry service area ... making noise all night. When I asked about the view they said that was it.

I was disappointed. During check in, there were 5 people at the front desk yet only one of them was checking people in (she was great) so took longer than it should have. People ahead of me had to wait for their rooms to finished being cleaned despite it being 4pm. I had an ADA room (booked by mistake) and the bathroom was awful. The shower wasn’t deepen enough so the curtain stuck to me. The floor was slopes to the middle of the bathroom so it flooded the bathroom when taking a shower and I ended up having to use towels to create a dam. There was no lid on the toilet and the counter was very small so there was no where to put the dry towel or clothes- esp since no hooks. Also, the toilet paper holder didn’t work because it was hanging by one end. I was shocked and surprised- are all the bathrooms this poorly designed or only the ADA rooms? Other than this- the hotel was lovely. Comfy bed. Pool is awesome. Gorgeous views. Near lots of restaurants.

Breaking my commentary into 2 buckets: decor & infrastructure and location. Decor and infrastructure. They have obviously resurfaced the hotel. The lobby has been nicely updated. Rooms have been partially updated. We had a one bedroom suite. It was "eh". Two pieces of "art" adorned one wall, others were bare save a mirror over the kitchenette. The kitchenette had no dishes, glasses, utensils, or lighting and a cheap formica countertop. Additionally there was a space for a college fridge but they had placed one in the intended location that was half the size it was supposed to be and it just looked bad. Minimal color, nearly no " style". And inadequate lighting. Stucco walls throughout that just made everything look old. And the balcony had views of the water but also had a lot of noise from the road. They have a property that is obviously aging and are trying to revive it. The pool is a nice space, as is the patio and bar. They were done well. Hvac is old and we had some challenges with the ac running far longer than when the room reached the desired temp. (could see both temps in the display) Location. The other challenge with this hotel is it's location. There is a sliver of a beach which ends at a retaining wall with a 4 for drop to the water. There are steps into a marked swimming area but they are slippery and is not friendly for the old or young. I would not stay here again nor recommend the property. At nearly 700 dollars a night I expected more.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful pool and grounds. Rooms look cosmetically updated, but hallways must be next on the list. We got stuck with a very squeaky bed and an AC unit that sounds like a plane taking off when it starts and while it runs. However, the great outweighted the small inconveniences.

Great access to the joint hotels by water taxi with access to all the resort entertainment and outdoor activities. We enjoyed kayaking and the pools every day. Downsides: very slow service at the bars and restaurants mainly because not enough workers. At the bar it was almost like they are doing you a favor serve you, picking and choosing who they want to serve first. The bathrooms have nice lights but toilets were badly maintained.

Came to the property at 11 AM knew that it was too early to check in but showed up at the front desk. Let them know that we’re here, and we got our wristband. Britney at the front desk said they would call us when the rooms were ready. We had two rooms booked both with two queen beds because we were traveling with kids around 3 o’clock, I received the phone call saying that they oversold the hotel and they had no rooms for us available for us and that they have to move us to a sister property. No compensation was offered not even a complimentary breakfast. We spent 2 hours going from hotel to hotel. We went to the other property in which when we got to the rooms, it was one bed with no couch or anything else for the kids so we had and switch rooms again. We were traveling as a family and had to stay in different buildings across the resort from each other. We were not able to spend the time that we originally wanted to spend together. I would never stay at this hotel again!!! be advised!!

My husband and I traveled to Amara Cay Resort for a 4 night stay and were very impressed with the whole experience. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food, drinks and service were excellent as well. We loved the reusable water bottles they gave us at check in, I have never been offered that before and thought it was a smart idea! They also had other great things they offered like a shuttle service and fishing. The beach and pool were beautiful even though it was too chilly for us to utilize the weekend we were here. If you’re traveling to Islamorada for business or vacation we definitely recommend staying at Amara Cay!

Overall we had a good experience, but I think we may pay up for the sister hotel, Three Waters, next time. The hotel is updated, but some details are still old and worn, shows the most in the bathrooms (our door was falling apart). The service and food is good overall, but in the details, some servers and front desk folks are much better than others. Property is somewhat small, so I have trouble calling it a resort - I couldn’t just stay here for a week. You have to get off the property to have more variety of meals and activities.

Check in was delayed for about hour and half. Very disorganized at the check in desk. Manager never came to speak with is as it is guaranteed check in. We were told we could hang in the lobby with out stuff. Room was very Average for the cost. Resort prices were high for food and drink. Very disappointing

We had a wonderful four day stay, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The housekeeping staff was so friendly and effecient and quiet! Everyone from the desk folks to the maintenance people were pleasant and cheery at every chance meeting. We had a problem with one of our entrees, and it was fixed promptly! Job well done.

The staff at the resort was terrific. Roberto checked us in and was fantastic. We spent a lot of time at the pool and the outdoor staff was super friendly and provided excellent service. The shuttle provided by the resort was readily available and very fun. We will definitely make a return trip to Amara Cay Resort.

The beach area, pool and tiki bar are good spots to hang, but the food is not good. Lynne making lates was the bomb. The chicken and Mediterranean bowls were average. Shrimp cocktail and calamari were bad. The bed and pillows were in line with a 2 or 3 star hotel. The beach chairs need to be replace because they are all sunk in. We got partial ocean view and we mostly looked out to the pink hotel next door and the parking lot. All in all for the price, it's not worth it. Pay the extra $ and stay at Cheeca within walking distance to a lot more restaurants/bars.

Everything was great. The property was beautiful! Staff was very friendly and helpful. The shuttle service was very convenient. The only thing that I couldn’t rate 5 stars was the hotel restaurant. We only ate there one night, because the food was very mediocre. We had no complaints about the food at the tiki bar by the pool.

The hotel was OK, but looks much better in the pictures. Had breakfast and one dinner there, both terrible. Couldn’t eat the food. Staff seemed unhappy and didn’t really care about anything or anyone. No beach. Spend your hard-earned money somewhere else.

Loved this place! Staff is super friendly & helpful. Rooms & common areas are clean. Close to many known, really good restaurants. The food at the tiki bar is also very good. Watch out for iguanas & squirrels, they're on the friendly (& hungry) side. Fun to look at.

This place has beautiful grounds, a lovely lobby and dining area. The pool and pool bar are great and the fire pits on a cool night are perfect. However, the food on premises is mediocre and expensive. The charge for a cup of coffee is $6 or $7. (Although there are free refills). It is walking distance to 2 dinner places and one little breakfast joint. The staff at check in was friendly but overall not everyone was. We would definitely go back, knowing the negatives.

The room was amazing with a few exceptions. The bathroom sink faucet was too short therefore you couldn’t wash very well. The shower head was too close to the wall which made it difficult to rinse. I was extremely disappointed with restaurant menus. The food selections were minimal with exorbitant prices. We didn’t eat at the resort.
