We paid full price and yet when we arrived, the gym and pool were both shut down and they said they now don't serve hot breakfast. We literally only booked it because of good breakfast reviews. Now, the reviews are scrubbed since there's new ownership and between the time of booking and the stay they cut breakfast, closed everything down and yet we still had to pay full price. Check-in was rough, took close to 30 minutes to get checked in because they couldn't figure it out and then had to go get rooms ready (despite us coming in past the 3pm check in time.)

Shawn was always very helpful at the front counter. I like the fact that there was a small gym to work out in. People at the front desk were always friendly. It was close to a lot of different restaurants. The room cleaners were friendly and always said hello. I was impressed with a ironing boad, iron and microwave oven were in the room.

I'll be staying at this one consistently in the future. I've stayed in several different hotels in a similar price point in Duluth in the past, but this one has stood out - older building but recently remodeled, you can still see some signs of wear on things like the door but fresh paint and really who cares so long as the actual furnishings are good and clean. Comfortable bed, 2 different firmness of pillows so you can choose your preference, Netflix on the TV so I don't have to bring my Roku, the blackout curtains actually work. No strong smells of anything aside from the (expected) occasional pot smoke. The pool wasn't open yet.

We choose this hotel for the indoor swimming pool and when we went to pool, the pool water was cloudy with hair floating in the water...in our room we accidentally tracked in water..when we wiped up the spill with towels in room, the towels ended up filthy...looked like the floors were never mopped..the service in the breakfast area was wonderful..the person in charge of the area kept it clean and was continually replacing the breakfast items...

This Spark took over the previous property and has mostly updated it. The rooms are clean with updated furniture and tech. They are still working on updating the pool area but the hotel was a pleasant stay for my family!

Pool was down. Back door had no lock. halls poorly lit and covered in stains. Breakfast was pitiful. No one would answer calls to front desk. Was told it would be easier to get to my room by carrying my luggage by the drug deal by the dumpster. Only , Bed seemed clean

This property is under heavy construction. It was dirty, loud, and the paint fumes were so bad it made me nauseous. I decided not to stay but they are refusing to refund me. I would not book this hotel again.

No coffee on arriving, nor did any get made for the rest of the evening. Front desk tried to charge me, again, for a prepaid room. The pool hadn't been cleaned in days, or longer. (Claims of a large party of kids on the weekend doesn't count on Tuesday evening. It should have been cleaned by then.) The pool door was broken open. The accessible room, didn't have a flexible shower head, one of the key components of an accessible room. The AC dripping into the room, instead of venting outside made a 4' puddle in the room, forcing me to leave in the middle of the night. So I have no idea about breakfast

Just stay somewhere else. I could not sleep due to the loud noise. The carpet is filthy. The second floor smelled like old trash. The ice machine didn’t work. Looks like it hadn’t work for a while. I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway. The phones didn’t work. Spoke with person at desk. He acted surprised and said he would notify maintenance. Maintenance never showed up. I did not sleep well in that place. It was disgusting in my opinion. Walls were filthy, tub was not the cleanest. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

This was by far the worst hotel I've been to. When we checked in the front room area was dirty and you could see some of the renovations going on. We tried to forgive it as there is going to be some messiness when renovations are going on so we tried to stay optimistic. After getting our keys we took our luggage and began walking back to our room. On our walk back, the carpet in the hallway was absolutely filthy, hallway was dark, and saw a few bugs on the way back. As we opened the door to our room we immediately had to kill 2 bugs. Then we took a moment to survey the room and found food left in the TV cabinet, bug poop in the drawers, more bugs on the AC unit. The bathroom door was damage (my picture isn't great for how damaged it was). We after surveying the room and taking some pictures we took our things and left within a few minutes of arriving. There is no way this hotel should be booking rooms in the condition it is in. Absolutely terrible hotel. Avoid this hotel if you're looking for a place to stay.

This place smells very bad and is so dirty. Doesn’t look like the images they posted. The hallways were very dark. There was hot water at the sink but when you take a shower the water is not hot. If I could cancel last night I would have. Don’t waste your money here.

Fairly standard experience the wifi didn't work, the bathroom door didn't shut all the way and made a very loud sound when moving it. Breakfast was very disappointing pretty much just carbs, the only protein was egg and for fruit a banana. The room itself was okay, I do wish that the sofa bed wasn't next to the AC unit so I could run the room colder without freezing my kid.

booked here as it was on the low end pricing of where i usually look but i never find this as an option usually, so it was new to me. first impression was the lobby was being worked on and renovated. check in lady was very professional, even shockingly so and the guy afterwards was as well. i noticed my room was super clean and the beds were comfortable. the tub was really worn out with a rust gouge and the showerhead was dripping, so you can tell the property needed some help. my primary issue was my next door neighbor had a connecting door and so i could hear everything like they were in my room. this would be fine if they were a normal and decent human being, but that's where the fun begins. this group was completely high and completely nuts. they literally talked for 12 hours straight hours at full volume, coughing like they had lung cancer (more likely smoking) and seriously did quiet downuntil 4:30 AM. i went to the front desk to ask for help 5 separate times and he called them, but they only turned off the hip hop music at least, but the talking never ended. i know it's not the property's fault who books here, so i'm trying not to blame this on them. however, if they acted indifferently or gave me attitude, i promise this review would have been a 0 star review. i found the breakfast to be completely gross, especially the greasy sausage patty. the for purchase drink and snack area had very reasonable prices with better options than a vending machine, so ++

The room was spacious and clean with a nice sitting area and a small table where we could eat our take-out dinner. It was just an overnight stay but appreciated the ease of parking and nice outdoor area for our dog. Dog fee is a bit steep at 75$. We just have a 20lb dog, wish they could charge on a sliding scale...

We arrived late and the gentleman at the front desk got me in quickly without hassle. The ice machine was a bit slow but it wasn't a big deal. The decor is a bit dated and dark but that could have been due to the lighting levels as well. Breakfast options were a bit lacking. Otherwise the stay was perfectly fine for what we needed

The room angels of ammonia or Pine Sol, very strong! Our key wouldn't open the door. Asked for help and the worker's keep opened it. This happened multiple times. The TV remote only worked periodically. No stopper in the tub or sink so we couldn't take a bath in the tub. Frustrating! However, the bed was nice and the AC worked well.

Shawn was always very helpful at the front counter. I like the fact that there was a small gym to work out in. People at the front desk were always friendly. It was close to a lot of different restaurants. The room cleaners were friendly and always said hello. I was impressed with a ironing boad, iron and microwave oven were in the room.

booked here as it was on the low end pricing of where i usually look but i never find this as an option usually, so it was new to me. first impression was the lobby was being worked on and renovated. check in lady was very professional, even shockingly so and the guy afterwards was as well. i noticed my room was super clean and the beds were comfortable. the tub was really worn out with a rust gouge and the showerhead was dripping, so you can tell the property needed some help. my primary issue was my next door neighbor had a connecting door and so i could hear everything like they were in my room. this would be fine if they were a normal and decent human being, but that's where the fun begins. this group was completely high and completely nuts. they literally talked for 12 hours straight hours at full volume, coughing like they had lung cancer (more likely smoking) and seriously did quiet downuntil 4:30 AM. i went to the front desk to ask for help 5 separate times and he called them, but they only turned off the hip hop music at least, but the talking never ended. i know it's not the property's fault who books here, so i'm trying not to blame this on them. however, if they acted indifferently or gave me attitude, i promise this review would have been a 0 star review. i found the breakfast to be completely gross, especially the greasy sausage patty. the for purchase drink and snack area had very reasonable prices with better options than a vending machine, so ++

I had reserved two rooms. My husband arrived at 7 in the evening and an hour and twenty minutes prior to our arrival. The staff informed him that his room was not ready but would be ready momentarily. I arrived an hour and 20 minutes later and still our room was not ready. Check in is at 4 p.m. I was not happy that the room was not ready. The desk manager told me that they could put us in a room downstairs but that would be on a different floor than our children. they were able to get the room done in another 20 min

I went to check around 12:45pm and was told to come back at 3pm. When I got back at 3:15pm the room was still not ready. The front desk lady was so confused and was texting with someone. It took almost 20 minutes to be be given a key and be told to wait because the room was still not ready. Finally she told us it was ready we went into the elevator that smelled awful and got out on 2nd floor the smelled even worse. The corridor carpet was so dirty. We got to our room and it was not ready the lady was cleaning and the sheets were on the floor. We informed that they said to come to this room and she said she told the front desk it was not ready. We went back to the front desk the front desk lady and wait again in line for another 20 or so minutes. The lady looked so confused and then finally she gave us another room. When we got to that new room we find another cleaning lady cleaning and she proceeds to tell she is almost done she just needs to wipe bathroom floors because there is hair on the floor. Which she just wiped with a towel. The floors of the room were so sticky and dirty. We couldn’t walk bare feet. We had to check for bedbugs luckily the they were any. My daughter didn’t want to take a shower in the bathroom because the bathtub was dirty. She took a shower a relative’s house. I wanted to leave but I had prepaid for the room. I would never ever stay or visit this hotel. It’s awful nasty, noisy.

Our first impression walking into the lobby was that it was hotter than outside and the front desk person was yelling at some guest’s unattended kids to go back to their room. As I looked around, I could tell the photos I saw online were definitely nicer than the actual facility. It looked like they were going to renovate and then just didn’t. The hallway walking to the room was dark and creepy like something you’d see in a horror movie. Thankfully, the room was clean but it was also hot despite the air conditioning running constantly. The bathroom was cleanish but the shower pull wouldn’t stay engaged unless you did it just right so taking a shower was a process and the toilet kept running until you jiggled the handle a few times. The ironing board was broken and when I called down to get a replacement, the front desk person said he’d send someone else because he was in a meeting. Not only did no one show up after waiting 45 minutes but when we came down he was sitting at the desk watching videos on his phone and having a casual conversation with one of the other employees. The location and price were the motivator for staying here but there are several others to choose from in the same area.

Website states outdoor pool, was about the size of an over grown kitty pool. We understand it is a little noisy because of april school vacation. Other residents were kind and easy to get along with. Air conditioner worked great. Comes with large mini refrigerator, a couch.

This place looks like new, the front lobby is well decorated. Staffs are friendly. The room is clean and spacious, quiet area. Especially there was no carpet smell or nothing which I really love! I didn’t expect anything good but this place turned out to be amazing. I will definitely come back if I visit Duluth again.

Service and hospitality - 5 stars. Hotel condition 3.5 stars; The hotel is conveniently located and the price was cheap. However, the quality of the room due to the smell of mold affected my review. I stayed there for a week. The first two nights were horrible due to the smell. I asked to be moved to another room. The second room was better, but not by much. I came home to a respiratory issues. I figured I wouldn't be in my room much, but I will probably stay in another hotel on my next stay. The air conditioner coils need to be cleaned and the rooms need better ventilation.

Fairly standard experience the wifi didn't work, the bathroom door didn't shut all the way and made a very loud sound when moving it. Breakfast was very disappointing pretty much just carbs, the only protein was egg and for fruit a banana. The room itself was okay, I do wish that the sofa bed wasn't next to the AC unit so I could run the room colder without freezing my kid.

In pictures it looks updated. It is in shabby condition, doors peeling, carpet in halls dirty. Breakfast is sliced bread, powered eggs, sausage, 2 dry cereals. No bagels or pastries just sliced bread. The room was clean but all the furniture is old, chipped, dinged up.A piece of the floor in our room was missing. For a quick overnight it was ok but not again.

The breakfast was just a small corner for self serve and didn’t have anything hot or fresh. Our TV wouldn’t work or turn off, so we had to sleep through the night with it on and bright. Besides that it was a mediocre stay, probably won’t return.

We choose this hotel for the indoor swimming pool and when we went to pool, the pool water was cloudy with hair floating in the water...in our room we accidentally tracked in water..when we wiped up the spill with towels in room, the towels ended up filthy...looked like the floors were never mopped..the service in the breakfast area was wonderful..the person in charge of the area kept it clean and was continually replacing the breakfast items...

Lobby was adequate. Leaving lobby into hallway there was a definite change in hotel conditions. Carpet was very dirty and doors were in disrepair with chipped wood. Some electrical outlets in room were so old they could not hold the charging plug for our phones. Finally the free breakfast was two choices for cereal and some questionable looking eggs.

Waffles, toast but also yogurt, bananas, scrambled eggs, sausage. Two cereals. Coffee was decent with sugar and half and half creamers. Cons were: Some guests were loud and disruptive after 10pm. I think some were there longer term/living.
