Quality Inn & Suites Vandalia near I-70 and Hwy 51

I arrived about an hour before check in time hoping to check in early. There was nobody manning the front desk. I waited about 5 minutes, still nobody so I left and came back. When I did finally check in, the staff was very nice and accommodating and check in was easy. Anytime during my stay that I encountered staff they were all awesome. The rooms looked like they were newly remodeled and were very nice. Everything worked and was very clean. The bed was comfortable. There was an ice machine and vending close by. I was assigned a room close to a stairway. Since the rooms open to the outside, the first night was a bit noisy with people running up and down the stairs. The second night was not bad. The pool was closed, kinda sad since it was 88 degrees and a major heat wave was starting. The grounds around the pool area could use some attention or an upgrade. All in all, it was a good stay and I would stay there again.

Huge parking lot, great for truck parking. I parked a 4 Door F-550 with 40' Hotshot trailer with ease on the driveway along curb. There is a giant gravel lot adjacent to the parking lot. Not sure if that was hotel parking to but if so you easily park 20 semis in there.

Room was clean, was disappointed that the pool was closed for the season already on August 8th and had a little one that was excited to swim. Other than that, we would stay again.

Overall a good stay. The only complaint we had was that the pool was closed and that was the whole point of us staying here.

When you first pull up to this property, it doesn't present very well as the exterior is a very old motel style and is in need of a facelift. Once you're inside though, they've done a nice renovation and it is modern and very clean. All 5 of our rooms are renovated as well and had the most comfortable beds out of all hotels we stayed in for our 19-day trip. Very impressed with the quality. Staff is friendly. Pool and exterior common areas for nicely landscaped and clean. There are no restaurants within walking distance, but we ordered pizza from a great place that delivered.

We needed some more towels and I went to the desk twice and called once. We needed to meet someone for lunch at 9 o’clock.. the front desk person called the housekeeping and told him that we needed towels and when my husband walked by, he saw some towels in the housekeeping area,and grabbed them, but they looked surprise. Seemed as though even though they were told we needed them it wasn’t their first priority. There was some trash around the sidewalks just a few things that needed to be picked up and the pond right by the entrance is really gross. They should just fill it in with dirt and plant some cause they don’t use the fountain. Smoking is the entrance of the hotel, but should be moved away from the front door because when I walked in at first, it was real musty smelling what are you do The rooms were clean and the breakfast had many options.

I stayed because I had a flat tire on 1-70 and had to have tire replaced in the am. It was a pleasant stay but again a pool was unavailable like almost all of proproties I stayed at on this trip. Sad tgat poolz not available. Bunch of crap!!

The lobby and breakfast area were nice and clean. Room seemed clean except there was a dirty towel and no shampoo. Landscape has not been attended to….weeds and broken figurines in pond. Pool was not opened.

Clean. Quiet. Just off the highway. Good price. Pool was clean and cool, but some paint chips showing a bit of age. Good breakfast options.

This motel is a bit dated, but it's quaint and comfortable. It's actually quite peaceful. My only complaint is that the pool has algae in it, and the walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbor peeing. Plus, the room smelled a little musty.

The pool was closed. The rooms were dirty. There were June bugs, roaches, and bed bugs here. I didn’t get a refund or a sorry they gave me a new room and when I told them there were bugs in the new room I got the police called on me and two other guest (my friends) because we were complaining and disappointed and wanted refunds. Not worth the money or the stress I had to throw all my things away so I didn’t bring bed bugs home. I just made it back home my birthday was a disaster! I have many videos of the rooms!

This place rated high and that is why we picked it. Just traveling through so didn't need all the amenities. The grounds are unkept. The room was dirty. There were roaches, the floor was disgusting, there was nasty gooey hair in the bathroom drain. I had to remove that before I could shower. The ceiling had mold in the bathroom and no exhaust fan. The beds were hard and uncomfortable and the air wasn't up to par. I'm not sure how this place hope these good reviews but it definitely did not live up to them from our experience.

Clean and convenient to I 70. It appeared the rooms had been renovated with all the conveniences-safe-microwave-mini fridge. Very clean. It was an excellent value and pet friendly. Friendly and helpful staff.

You won’t be disappointed when staying here. Staff is great and the rooms are neat and clean.

The place is a pig sty. Has been cleaned in many months. The light outside of our room didnt work. The bathroom and towels were dirty and they smelled like they didnt even used detergent . The floor bath mat was filthy, some crud at the corner of the door. 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper and another 1/3 as replacement on top of toilet lid. It either had blood or poop on it. I took photos of all this, but the site wont let me upload them.

I’ve stayed here twice. The first time was totally fine, but the second will be my last. I made a reservation clearly saying I had 3 people and reserved a room with 2 beds and a pullout bed. I even clarified with the front desk that the couch was a pullout bed. Despite this, there was no bedding provided for the couch. When I requested bedding I was given a sheet and told they would bring me a blanket. A man without any name-tag/uniform, completely barefoot, brought me a bed cover which is a material similar to a curtain, definitely not a blanket. This was really frustrating, but we ended up just going to bed and making the best we could from the situation. Unfortunately, when we went to bed we discovered a large, palm sized crusty blood spot on the underside of one of the beds comforters. It was definitely not a stain, and clearly visible when the bedding is pulled back to climb in. My top priority in a hotel is cleanliness, this was disgusting and made it clear that our room had not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival. The bedding had clearly not been changed or even flipped, I don’t even want to think about how many people have slept in that bed since it was washed. Also, the room with the vending machines and ice machines has a horrific smell, I do not think proper maintanance is being done on the ice machine. I will say that the property is safe and pet friendly. There is a lot of grassy area, wood floors, and beds without undersides for dog toys to get stuck in.

The room was clean and bright. I liked the luxury vinyl wood flooring much better than the usual carpeting. Each room opens to either the parking lot or a landscaped courtyard. Having the room door right by our vehicle made it easy to load/unload the car, especially when one of you is on crutches.

This is a nice, well run, low cost place to stay. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was nicely updated. Very clean. Unfortunately, some of the guests staying upstairs were not so quiet. But I can’t blame the hotel. Overall, it was a great place to stay on a longer road trip for a nice reasonable price.

Wifi for my room didn't work the whole time I was there

First room air wasn’t working to cool the room so they gave us a different room no problem . Second room tv wasn’t working right so they went the extra mile and changed it out for a proper working one , so we were satisfied. The beds were super comfy.

Considering it is an older motel our room was very clean and comfortable. A pleasant surprise when we walked into our room. The breakfast area was wonderful. Very clean and lots of seating. Again this was a pleasant surprise when we walked over for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was organized and clean.

it could be a little cleaner. The floors need mopped & cleaned. Also, housekeeping knocked once & then tried just walking in my room as I was dressing. Not Cool! It wasn’t even check-out time. They do need to clean better tho.

Upon arrival I entered the office only to be greeted by an empty desk. I knocked, called out, heard a phone go unanswered, wandered down a hall to see if anyone was around and when I was about to leave the desk clerk returned and attempted to check me in. The machine that produces the room key was not working so he ran down to open my door. He was alone and doing the best he could.

Great location, clean room and easy access

We use this hotel when traveling on I70. Easy on and off. The hotel room always seems clean and since we have two dogs, it is very easy to walk them in them in the large, cut grass field on the south of the property. The price is right as well. Very reasonable.

Very convenient to US 51 and I-70. Have stayed here before and would do so again, Property is getting dated, looks like a converted Howard Johnson's, but more than met my needs.

Simple and Satisfactory This hotel was perfectly okay for a short stopover. The room had the essentials, and while it wasn’t particularly modern or upscale, it was clean and quiet enough for a restful night. The location right off the highway made it easy to find and convenient for travel. Nothing exceptional, but it served its purpose without any major issues.

I’ve stayed here several times. It’s always good. This last stay however, the morning breakfast was not kept up. No coffee cups, no bagels, no yogurt, etc. This is not common, perhaps someone called off but thought I’d mention it in case it was something else.
