The pool and hot tub were both down.

It's a nice place to stay in. The pool was amazing.

The facility is under new ownership and hopefully will improve. We prepaid through via a third party but was billed again on top of what we had already paid. The advertised exercise room was made into a conference room. Advertised television channels were not all available. After a call to the desk and a trip down to the desk, someone came to let us know those stations were no longer available.

Great stay on our way home from vacation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best and included made-to-order omelets. Hotel provides cookies and fresh popcorn in the lobby every night. Pool area was clean. There’s a separate kiddie pool, a large hot tub and a sauna. My disabled husband was able to use the hot tub, very accessible. Although it’s an older hotel, you can tell the owners care and keep the place in great condition. Only drawback for us is there was no comfortable chair in our room, only two straight back chairs. Our room was a handicap accessible one so that may be why. However, this wife-provider would have liked to relax a bit after a long day of driving.

Most upsetting was no communication that the pool & hot tub was NOT in service. We had to contact EXPEDIA to try to rec any compensation. Hotel desk refused. We looked forward to our stay at this hotel based on previous GREAT reviews. Our grandchildren were VERY DISAPPOINTED

Staff was not friendly, laundry room was covered in drywall dirt from wall repair and big piles of debris inside, hot tub wasn’t even warm and was murky, found a flea on me in the room, fellow traveler found bugs in bathroom they had to kill, our tub backed up with sitting water with any water on in it, beds were very hard, breakfast was not worth staying for (powder eggs, small offerings mostly bread things). It was a quiet place, the shower was good for spray and no temperature fluctuations. Overall, not the nicest place and I wouldn’t stay again.

The room was nice but the TV did not connect digitally and the only staff person on duty did not know how to fix it and could not offer us a different room. We had no TV during our entire stay. Also, the workout room was filled with tables and chairs and had no workout equipment.

Could have probably saved a little money and gotten the same quality stay at another hotel. Hot tub was just slightly warm. Breakfast was good!

am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with my recent stay at your hotel. My partner and I checked into our room on and unfortunately, it turned out to be a nightmare.

Upon waking up the next morning, I noticed that I was covered in red, itchy bumps all over my body. Alarmed, I pulled back the covers and to my horror, I saw a bug scurrying across the bed. We immediately inspected the room and found multiple bug traps hidden under the bed. We took pictures of everything and went to the front desk to report the issue.

Despite showing the front desk staff our bites and the evidence of bugs in one of the traps, they refused to take any action. We were told that the manager was not available and they would have her call us. However, we never received a call from her. We were also shocked when they refused to wash our clothes or offer any kind of compensation for our unpleasant experience.

Feeling frustrated and disgusted, we took matters into our own hands and washed all our belongings ourselves. We have also taken multiple precautions to ensure that we do not bring any bugs back to our home. It is unacceptable that we had to deal with this situation during our stay and we are even more disappointed that the manager has not contacted us despite our repeated attempts.

To make matters worse, we were charged for our stay, despite the fact that we did not have a comfortable and bug-free experience at your hotel. We are extremely disappointed with the lack

Hotel and room were very clean, breakfast buffet had hot food with a good variety. Room linens were fresh and the bed was very comfortable.

We were traveling to Colorado and needed a place to spend the night. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean and comfortable. They allow dogs for a very reasonable price so that was a bonus for us.

One night stay on a trip. Everything was clean and staff was awesome. Even though not brand new was still very nice. Great breakfast and would definitely stay there again.

There were bed bugs at the property. We checked under the mattress the first 5 minutes we stepped foot in the room. Notified the staff and expedia we were checking out and leaving. Did not want any room at a property with bed bugs so we checked out and left. They charged us the full amount on a 5 minute stay when their property wasn’t even all the way full. Not even a partial refund. Never stay here.

Arrived in the evening and had to wait 5 minutes for a front desk person to arrive to check me in. Room had no soap or shower products. Air conditioner was so loud we turned it off during the night. Strange smell in the room. Sunday morning went to breakfast at 9:40 and nothing was available. Sign said breakfast 7-10. Best thing about this hotel was the carpet stain collection throughout the property.

Good place to stop while traveling! Service was great and so was breakfast. The internet was pretty bad and for some reason even my phone was having issues picking up regular cellular internet inside the hotel. It is dog friendly which is great. I did find it a little weird that I couldn’t have a disability room and a pet room at the same time.

Stay was good but beds were hard as rocks. The floor was softer then the beds. Me and my wife slept like absolute crap due too the rock hard beds. And the breakfast had no flavor or decent food.

This has been our go-to place to stay for years when in the area. Had a miserable night trying to sleep on a rock hard bed. Guess we will start staying a little further down the road.

I have no idea how this place got good reviews. All night long there were weird dudes walking around in the parking lot. The room is outdated, and has a super weird smell. Almost nothing in the room works. One of the lamps didn’t work, the television doesn’t work, the Internet doesn’t work, and the refrigerator doesn’t even get cold. The sheets were scratchy, and the carpet seemed moist. Big no.

The hotel could use updated. Many items in the room are showing age...sink, furniture, bed. Not terrible. But, needs attention in my opinion

The lobby reminds me of a mountain lodge, very nostalgic! Very cozy feeling! When we checked in, there was complimentary cookies, popcorn, and a keg of beer. We were here on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and the staff was so friendly!!!! Room was great, bed was very comfortable! We will definitely stay here again on our way to Colorado!!!!

We came in late around 1am and we were given a key to a room that had someone sleeping in it. So we went back down to the office to get another room and had to wait30 minutes while the front desk lady scrambled to find us a room. Then we were given a handicap room. Only got a few hours of sleep before we had to get kn the road again, but i wont be coming back to this hotel

Really nice staff. Loved the pool and sauna and really enjoyed Russell for the one night we were there. Eat at Waudby’s. Awesome place and delicious food.

They were not prepared for guest arrival who had reservations. Front desk was very lacking.

Went there for nostalgia. Omelet station was disappointing. Front desk staff were rude overall especially Taylor on Friday evening. Beds we’re comfortable and room was clean

Showed up late after driving all day. The staff was so nice and made a point to make me smile and feel welcome!

It's too bad a guy has to go all the way to Russell, Kansas to enjoy the Fossil Creek Hotel, but life's like that. Still, it's always a good idea to go there. It's not a typical brand name hotel; it's just nice, quiet, comfortable and friendly....exactly what's needed at the end of a long, straight, hot stretch of Interstate 70!

Great stay off I70. Fast, efficient check in and free breakfast too.

This is a great little property right off the interstate in Russel. Folks at check in were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool after checking in. Breakfast is great and includes an omelet station. Great, great value.

Safe, quiet, easy parking.

Fossil Creek was ok but I'm not sure whether we would stay there again. The room was fine and the location was convenient to the highway for the night but breakfast was so disappointing. The scrambled eggs were cold and several of the containers for cold cereals were completely empty. It was not a good way to start the day.

This location is approximately half way on our travels to visit family. It’s nice to have a hotel we can count on for that stop.

Overnighted for trip to Arkansas from Colorado. Good made to order omelette but the rest of the breakfast was not warm and selection was bad. Waffle maker was not working either

Nice clean property. Needs an automatic espresso machine. Folgers coffee is not up to par.

I often stay at this hotel during my trips across Kansas. It has a hometown feel at a reasonable price. Excellent cookies and a good breakfast

The pool was very nice! Excellent continental breakfast with many choices and hot options, including made to order omelets. Friendly staff, clean room and comfy bed.

Clean comfortable bed is all you get here. Breakfast was terrible. The breakfast reviews are all old and not up to date. The gravy was ice cold and separated. The waffle mix was watered down and the broken waffle maker couldn't cook it all the way through. The omlet station wasn't being used with no apology. We drove an extra 30 minutes past Hays to stay here based on the outdated reviews. Won't be doing that again.
