This property is advertised as being within walking distance from pretty much everything. What they don’t tell you is your in the middle of a major highway intersection and so not safe to be walking anywhere. Place smelled like fish mixed with city waste water. There was no breakfast included, no water available, and staff was rude when they didn’t have their faces in their phones. Got hot water for the shower when it wanted to work. Honestly think it was on a timer. Place looked like hadn’t been cleaned for a good 2 months and the pictures on the internet are from 1980 something. Will not stay here again and hopefully someone else doesn’t have to deal with outside doors that for lock, door keys that have to be reset daily, and false advertisement for a run down POS place that needs a whole new overall!

This trip was horrible. The hotel was not clean and many people are living there full time and hanging around outside the rooms ans illegally cooking inside of their rooms with hot plates. I belive refuges are living there . Carpets are soiled and dirty. Bathrooms were not clean. Spent 1k for two night's there and i am so unhappy

I think ppl may be living there. No breakfast only coffee tiny cups. Not my standards at all . I did not expect plush but not up to Holiday Inn standards from stays in other facilities Even elevator seemed struggling so I took the stairs Carpeting was very stained too.

Hi. For $900 for a weekend I expected more. The place is carpeted from top to bottom and it STINKS. Literally smells so bad throughout the hallways let alone the rooms. The hallways are filled with garbage bags of what seems to be residents living in them. Would not be surprised if they were migrants. The walls are paper thin so you hear EVERYTHING. The bathroom toilet seat was barely hanging on, two of our towels had what seemed to look like peubic hair on them. There was this random casing on an electrical junction box in the bathroom that sounded as if kept sparking. The Kurig coffees/teas definitely seemed to be there for some time if not have seen better days. Beds and Pool were OKAY at best.

The lobby, very nice. The room, smelled like cigarette smoke. I am not a smoker so that smell hits me in the face. The water pressure low and the toilet slow to flush. Not easy to see from Newberry Street. The back of the building and the courtyard leave a lot to be desired. Needs a cleanup in the back of the building. I would expect it to look as nice as the front. The corridors leading to the rooms need a lot attention.

We have stayed at other holiday inns and this by far is the worst. First: check in was quick and easy and we had no issues. Friendly staff all through out. The parking out front is limited and our room was all the way in the back of the hotel. When we drove back there, we noticed a number of broken down cars, a camper and shady area. The room is carpet and smelled of wet mold. The carpet near the bed was soaking wet. The bed was good, the pillows were okay. There were burn stains on the comforter. The room was kind of clean except the dirty carpet and peeling paint in the bathroom. The shampoo bottle was partially full so was obviously used and just left and not replaced. The first night there was loud music and banging until 11pm or so outside our room. We were glad to leave after 2 nights. No breakfast and didn’t see any coffee. It is close to Salem so that was about the only benefit.

There was blood on the back of the bathroom door and a suspicious looking red spot on the extra blanket that was given to me. There was dirt all over the baseboards and on/behind the sink. It was disgusting.

Absolutely the worse holiday inn ever , the fire alarm kept going off ,no microwave,bathroom reeked if urine ,kids running up and down the hall , the walls were dirty and dusty you couldn’t even see the white paint ,people were loud ,screaming and banging on who know what . Cords were all over the floor very unsafe , not to mention the moldy smell the hotel had just terrible

I did not like how their was people living at the hotel, kids in hallways making a mess, just laying their, people that lived their in and out. Not to mention bed bugs, I am all bitten up… terrible. For a Holiday Inn and Suites I would have expected better. I came home with my ace swollen and bites all over my body. Just gross.

This property was very smelly and the smell affected my allergies. I went back downstairs within 30 minutes within checking to inform them of the conditions because I couldn’t breathe because of the smell and how it was affecting my allergies. The property manager wouldn’t even refund my money and Expedia didn’t do anything extra to help me with this issue

Lady at the front desk was very rude and seemed like she was in a rush when checking in, went to our room to put our luggage in and left. We only came back to sleep, used our own towels because the towels they had smelled horrible, then when we went to leave in the morning our door knob fell off… still haven’t gotten my deposit back (that isn’t listed on the website btw), so I think they charged me for the doorknob falling off. Stay somewhere else.

We stayed on a Thursday in October for the proximity to salem. The ride there was so easy. The front desk staff were so nice. The room was very clean. I just think there weren’t enough outlets in the room/ by the bed for both me and my wife to charge our phones. I also wish the AC had a continuous fan option: Otherwise, we had a lovely stay

I would not recommend this place. I first arrived and told them I lost my card, the guy working front desk seemed like I was bothering him (turned out he was leaving in 30 mins) and told me there was nothing I could do even after asking if I could show him a picture of the card and read the numbers off. There’s kids and people just roaming the hallways. I saw multiple people walking around with no shoes. There is always a smell of somebody cooking something which doesn’t make any sense. Next the room was very damp and moist. There were gnats and large flies. My top sheet was still very wet but was covered with the comforter which was also now wet. The trip to n from Salem from this place just isn’t worth it. I’ll be booking directly in Salem next time.

Not worth $350 per night. No fan in bathroom - condensation was horrible. Vent in bathroom connected to room next door and we could hear everything they were saying. Loud guests in hallway keeping us up at night. Shotty craftsmanship in rooms/bathrooms. This was more like a $99 a night stay.

Shower was cold in evening Tub did not drain properly Phone did not charge— All extension cords were somehow unplugged, presumably from the last guest; while this isn’t an average thing to look for, it might make sense to ensure things are working (ie this also meant the lamps didn’t work— this could have been determined by testing those) Very easy to miss location (hard to see on highway, especially at night)

If it wasn’t for it being our anniversary and no other rooms available I wouldn’t have stayed here. So outdated and everything was just do dirty looking and we didn’t even have the room I requested we got a handicapped room. Outrageously priced but I’m the sucker that paid it. Will never again.

Lady at the front desk was very rude and seemed like she was in a rush when checking in, went to our room to put our luggage in and left. Reserved two rooms nine months ago. One single king and two double queens. Upon check-in i was told there were no king rooms so i ws given two double queens. There was no real apology given other than they over booked. The keurig coffee maker in the room did not work. I went to front desk and was told someone would be right up with a replacement. No one ever came. They have free coffee in the morning but no tea. Staff was not very friendly. I most likely will not stay here again!

I was not aware that the hotel had so many long term residents. Needles to say there was people even laying in the laundry room. The rooms where musty as there is no ventilation in the bathrooms. The front desk service is horrible. I asked for towels I was told come and get it myself. Please, make sure that you bring your own bottled water as the hotel runs out of it and your only option is juices and soda.

Customer service, cleanliness, front hallways paint is all chipped, front desk not helpful. When I checked out the front desk took my room key and never said how was your stay with us or thank you. This place is not like it was a few years ago. Too many children running around and riding bikes in the hallways. Housekeepers need better training. Our housekeeper did not know how to make a bed. My husband showed her.

Reserved a room nine months ago with 1 king sized bed. When i checked in, they did not have a king room available, so they gave me 2 queens. What good is a reservation? The keurig coffee make in the room did not work. Went to the front desk. They said someone would be right up with another one. Never saw anyone. Not the best experience for the price.

The hotel didn't particularly stand out in any way, and generally I had a pleasant stay, with one glaring exception. We were on vacation visiting a lot of the New England areas, and had a large, heavy gift bag of souvenirs and gifts we had bought. Housekeeping took it, and when we found it missing they claimed Housekeeping said they thought it was trash. Everything in the bag was brand new and there was no trash in the bag. Initially staff seemed to be sorry but offer no help or solutions other than to allow me access to their trash compactor to dig around in it to see if i could find anything. After I gave a little pushback the next day, they agreed to pay me back for whatever receipts I could produce of the items I had said were in the bag. That was the extent of it, no "sorry we'll make sure this never happens again", no further compensation, no promise of housekeeping review or training, but to just quietly sweep it under the rug. The entire process felt sketchy and I honestly felt like i got swindled by some shady practices by staff. Otherwise the facility was fairly clean and well run. Won't be using Holiday Inn on my vacation travels any more.
