Courtyard Grand Rapids Downtown

The room smelled really bad like mold or mildew. And I was really disappointed the hottub wasnt working. Thats one of the reasons I booked it.

Excellent location. Good restaurant inside. Big pool. Sky walk to parking garage and Van Andel Arena is PERFECT for winter!

When reserved room it stated parking available. It did not say at a cost. 29. to park a car for one night on top of paying for the room was a little outragous. Was on 3rd floor and heard traffic all night long. Will not be my first choice next time.

Wonderful - as most Bonvoy properties are. Very safe, secure parking downtown as well as an accommodating front desk. Great central location.

It is great that you can access areas of the city through the skywalk! So nice to walk to VanAndle arena from the hotel and not have to go outside!!

I booked this place for the hot tub and the hot tub was drained. The furniture was old and needed to be refinished. WiFi could only be accessed by signing up for Marriott something. Would not go back for that price.

The only thing I did not like was the parking. It was very confusing.

The room was fantastic, but the whole reason we booked the room was to have our kids be able to swim. The pool was cold and the hot tub was out of order and drained. No one wanted to swim for long.

Hotel is conveniently located to Van Andel arena. Was able to walk to our concert via the Skywalk. No lines, no traffic! Definitely way to go!!!

Upon arrival we were charged again for the cost of the hotel despite the fact that we had already paid through Expedia days before check-in. Our funds were held up from that Friday until the following Wednesday. The front desk agent that checked us in initially was not personable and talked so fast that when she advised me to insert my card I assumed, to my own fault, that this was for incidentals. I wanted to ask her what I was inserting my card for but literally was talking without pause. Next thing I know, she was asking me to insert my card again. When I asked her what was the first charge for, she told me “the cost of the room”. This spiraled into an unpleasant exchange where I felt there was no empathy for what had just occurred. Our family of 4 was staying there as part of our trip to visit Silver Lake sand dunes to which we had a reservation for rental dune buggies that required a deposit. I mentioned to them that had we not had other funds, they could have very well ruined our dune buggy trip. I had to show both her, and her manager, my bank account transactions to show them that I had just been charged as they seemed to not believe it. That caused them to finally show a bit of remorse. They gave us breakfast & coffee vouchers for the stay…but this isn’t what would hinder us from staying again. Instead, it would be the lack of cleanliness of the SUITE - stained pull out mattress, dirty shower/sink, stained drop ceiling tiles in bathroom.

Hotel was very clean, staff was outstanding and destination was close to our venue.

Hot tubs closed, bathroom was so nasty. They use a nice filter on all rooms, everything is dated. When I moved the foot stool there was rice under couch.

For the price this hotel, we were disappointed. When we arrived there were dirty plates sitting by a room a little down the hall from us. They were STILL sitting on the floor when we checked out almost 24 hrs later. The public bathroom in the lobby was filthy. The worker who checked us in was clearly high as a kite, eyes red, and loopy when trying to have a conversation. We expected better from a place that charges 350 a night. Definitely disappointing.

The hotel was okay just not what I thought it would be. It's an older building. The room smelled of stale smoke as if it previously was a smoking room. The AC didn't work when we first arrived, eventually maintenance had to trip the breaker and it started working but then was failing in the middle of the night and was very noisy. When you turn the shower head on the shower whistles very loudly. Not really how you want to wake up in the morning. The location was great and parking was easy.

Very nice hotel. Clean, staff helpful and professional. Were staying for an event and ArtPrize happened to be going on which made our stay even more enjoyable. Everything is walkable plus the Skywalk made it even easier. Love the Starbucks Bistro downstairs. King suite was very roomy and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

I have stayed here previously and it was great. Well this time it was just okay. Not terrible but I definitely wouldn’t stay again. The rooms need some updating. The shower had terrible water pressure. Definitely time to update.

We stayed at this Marriott on 3/4/23 after a security incident that forced us to vacate from another hotel. We showed up late at night, without our luggage, and just needed a place to stay for the night. Immediately Takeysha (I hope I am remembering her name correctly!) was welcoming, friendly, empathetic to our situation and accommodated our immediate needs. The entire experience was positive and we knew we would sleep well. Thank you!

Staff very accommodating

Most of the staff were really friendly. Unfortunately our air conditioning wasn’t working in our room and we ended up having to talk to a very rude employee who acted like this was not her issue and was less than kind or helpful. We did end up moving and the manager in the morning was super nice and friendly, making a right out of a wrong.

Great stay the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Grand Rapids. The staff was amazing from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. We stayed here the night of our wedding because we wanted a wonderful experience and that’s exactly what we received. Very professional and friendly. They helped us with all our needs and even went above and beyond. Will definitely come back and we truly appreciate how wonderful the staff was the entire time. Star and Melanie and everyone else was amazing.

Amanda at check in was fantastic. Parking was awful. Spots so tight I'm surprised i didn't scratch my car. There was a spot but if I had parked there I would have blocked another person who was parked in a spot too. Some of the staff was very rude or totally did not have a clue

Very nice, clean hotel room close to Van Andel and that skywalk is amazing. The BOB is great for comedy shows two it’s right across the street.

Would definitely stay here again. Great place and great people. Some minor things that would have made it better. There is no microwave in the room, you have to go downstairs to use the microwave. The hot tub was out when we stayed and that was one reason we chose this place. The shower door doesn’t open by the water handle so you have to get in, turn on the water, and get sprayed by ice cold water. You can’t just reach in turn on the water and let it get hot before getting in. Also something weird was going on with the outlets in the room. Charging our phones and our phones died, thought something was wrong with the phones, took them to a phone repair place and they charged up just fine. We ended up plugging in the bathroom plug with no problem. Phones charged in there without an issue. The Starbucks in the hotel is not a full service Starbucks so no frappucinos.

I liked having bar/dining on property, the bed was very comfortable and walking distance to so many establishments.

I was so disappointed 😞.....I requested a room with a view at least 6 months in advance and they didn't care at all about that request 😔 I got there looking forward to their pool and hot tub and they were both closed down due to some type of maintenance issue.... One of the only reason I booked was for a Starbucks in the hotel and of course I found out only when I get there that it is not a real Starbucks and that are also out of espresso for the day!! 😞 Ask the furniture looked really dirty for the rates they are charging per night!! I have to say it was one of the worst experiences I have EVER had in my life!! I have never been so disappointed and from what that show online it's very different in person!
