My wife and I were just passing through but this looked like a good bet and we're SO GLAD we stopped here. Inside it's an ordinary hotel, except the staff are super friendly and personable, it was very clean and moderately comfortable, and the king sized bed was great (some space age foam that feels hard at first but then envelopes you in a cloud of ease). And then there's the outside. The beach is roomy, the furniture is in good shape, there's a small pier to the lake, and they even have two grills. And they even arranged a beautiful sunset for us. This turned the stay from just a stop to a little honeymoon installment (yes, we have modest tastes). We didn't have a balcony room facing the lake, our room was a walkout onto the parking lot, but fortunately right behind the Level 2 EV charger, which I was counting on and did not disappoint. (However, there's only one cable, so if there's more than one EV, you'll have to take turns). Breakfast was limited. That's the worst I can come up with. If we pass this way again, this is where we'll stay,

The hotel was very clean. Well maintained the front desk were very helpful and friendly. We used the pool. The water was warm. There’s a hot tub. The private beachfront has tons of picnic tables, lawn chairs, grills and two fire pits. It’s really a relaxing and enjoyable environment.

Great location on the shore of Houghton Lake. Clean room with a comfortable bed. Microwave and large refrigerator included. Hot tub - warm and clean. Several machines in the 24 hour fitness center. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Sofia friendly and efficient with checkin. Provided great location information. Would stay here again.

The hotel has an awesome location on Houghton Lake. But i was going late in the season and the weather wasn't good. The reason i picked the hotel was for the new pool and hot tub. I got there on thursday and the hot tub was out of service until monday. They said the pool was heated, but definitely was not warm.They also didn't clean the room. I later found a 2 sided doorhanger on the floor that you were supposed to set on the door to get your room cleaned. I like the hotel and the location and i will give them another chance. But i will dejinitely call closer to checin to see if hot tub is working.

Staff is amazing- top notch! The lake view room was so nice and we really enjoyed having the balcony. The convenience of the beach and pool/hot tub all in one spot was definitely something we enjoyed. The beach was so fun with a couple fire pits, a volleyball net, a swingset, dock, and nice beach chairs. Some things we found would be better- a little raking of the beach. There were snail shells everywhere and cut the kids feet and my husband’s. The lake is shallow really far out and so in order for us to swim we had to go out to the point where we were worried about boaters and jet skiers hitting us, so maybe some buoys out there to protect the swimmers. The pool was very clean and nice looking, the only issue was the Chlorine fumes that were pretty overwhelming and would make you cough and your eyes burn. I think it’s just a ventilation issue, so we would prop the doors open to air it out. The breakfast was nice, but maybe some eggs or something might be good to add so there are some not-so-sweet options. The other great thing about this breakfast area is that they would leave some of the muffins and yogurts to grab later in the day. These suggestions really are nitpicky and don’t take away from the comfort and joy of staying. We also met a lot of really nice families! Overall I would definitely stay again and look forward to it!

Amazing hotel! Very clean, coffee available all day and night, private beach was very nice and clean. We had a great time at our stay. The only thing that bothered me was that the pool area had so much chlorine I could only stay for 10 minutes because the fumes were literally making my eyes hurt

The employees were polite and friendly. Only reason I gave the hotel this rating is because we had blood on the pull out couch all over the sheets, a huge urine stain on the bed and the jet tub , when filled had a bunch of sand in it. It looked clean at first but when my family went to go to bed we realized it was extremely dirty. Told people after finding out and then after check out. They did nothing. Called expedia afterwards and all they did was offer a voucher. For afew dollar's off. And didnt give me back my points saved qnd used towards the hotel.

My Husband tried to use the jacuzzi tube and when he turned on the jets a ton of black stuff spewed out. When I told the front desk they offered me cleaner to clean it myself. The room was full of ants. All of the bread on the breakfast bar was stale

The check-in did not go well. I used my credit card when I reserved separate rooms for myself and my parents. I asked the night clerk at the hotel if my parents could pay for their room separately. For some reason, she split the payment for one of the rooms and asked how we wanted to pay for the other one. I told her again that we just wanted the rooms charged separately. She said we were already checked in so the best she could do was split the payment on the other room too. It all got very confusing. We weren't given any receipts. We were tired from driving all day, so we just went to the room. When we thought about it, we realized we were overcharged. We brought this up in the morning when we checked out, and the lady readjusted the charge. We were undercharged then, but she said not to worry about it. Otherwise, the rooms were very nice, but the corners of the ceiling could use a dusting.

From the time we stepped into the lobby, then to our room, we noticed the cleanliness and up to date decor. Every space and room smelled fresh and inviting. The breakfast was good with options for cereal, breads and protein. The beach front was so peaceful and just a wonderfully inviting space overall.

30 min after we got into our room 2 of our neghbors were in a mad dash to leave, saying they both had bed bugs everywhere in their rooms. The hotel smelled like chemicals and the cleaning carts had bottles of bed bug treatment on them. The staff clearly knew they have an active problem yet continue checking guests in. We ended up leaving.

From the moment you walk in the hotel smells so fresh and clean. Stephanie at the front desk was so helpful and kind. The room was very clean. The views are amazing! The outdoor space offer so much to do and as well manicured. From the indoor pool, hot tub, a playground for the kids off to the side, a dock, the lake, grass areas with seating, sandy beach, volleyball court, and two fire pits. This hotel is the nicest I have ever stayed at up north, and the price was great! We will definitely be going back!

Overpriced for the looks and state of the hotel. I was disappointed with the old decor and outdated furniture of this hotel. I really doubt this is a 4-star hotel. The only thing is it has a great view of the lake from the balcony, if you get a lakeview room. Bottomline: do not expect a fancy 4-star hotel, think of it as a clean Quality inn just on the lake.

Overall a very nice time. This hotel is a few items from being fantastic. The admin and front desk staff were fantastic!!! Very clean. To be generous, the breakfast was spartan HVAC was hard to control. Patio door EXTREMELY difficult to open and close, missing screen door. GREAT VIEW!!! We would definitely stay again, and if the few items mentioned were addressed the Beachfront would be a true gem!!

Only 2 things could have been better. The doorwall was very hard to open and close and there wasn’t any coffee made in the morning (of check out ) when we got up to watch the sunrise so I attempted to make it myself and I’m not experienced with a Bunn (I use a keurig) and there was a non pleasant attitude from the person getting breakfast ready. But mostly. A great place and would recommend it.

The property was quite beautiful, and was very well-maintained. The reason for the average review was our interaction with the lobby personnel. I made the reservation for four couples for rooms on Expedia in February. When we checked in we were informed that our rooms were not on the lake side, but on the street side. I expressed my disappointment with the location of the rooms, and offered to pay whatever premium was required in order to get Lake front rooms. The employee at the lobby, desk wise, unwilling to consider making an adjustment to our room locations, she apparently believed that, since the reservation was made through Expedia that there was no opportunity to change it. After we departed the hotel, I phoned the general manager and discussed the situation. She agreed to conduct some training to improve the performance of the lobby personnel. It was unfortunate that we could not be on the lake side of the hotel, because it is truly a beautiful property. the hotel also lost additional revenue because there were available rooms on the lake side of the hotel, if they had just been willing to allow us to use them.

We’ve stayed here several times while visiting family in the area. We tried a couple of other hotels but prefer the Beachfront. They are always friendly, coffee available, clean comfortable rooms, and a free continental breakfast. They even let us checkin a little early this visit due to time conflicts with family.

When we checked in the receptionist was very rude, detached, irritable and even confrontational. We had come a long way with an infant and just needed some answers to their cable TV since we came to view a NFL playoff game and couldn’t find it on their channels. We ended up leaving the hotel and stopping at a sports bar and asking our question. All service was average at best. Just seemed like the employees hated to be there.

The room was spotless and the staff was awesome! The only downside was the breakfast selections. I was very disappointed to see no hot eggs, or a meat selection, so I had to go out and pay for breakfast. Otherwise my stay was wonderful and Thank you to everyone involved :)

This hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the beds are very comfortable. Loved the balcony facing the lake! Beach and lounge chairs were great. Breakfast was ok, but they should add more hot options like oatmeal and scrambled eggs. Love that good coffee in the lobby is available all day. Indoor pool looked very nice but didn't use it, would rather be outside. I would definitely stay here again!

Hotel was very clean and nice. Beach access was so nice! Huge balcony’s overlooking water were great! Breakfast good! Coffee and flavored creamers were great to have all the time in lobby. Pool was nice but zero windows so very very echoing as our kids were playing in there and super high chlorine smell and made us all cough a bunch. Fitness room nice and nice to have pets and easy access to walk down road and back with sidewalk all along the road.

The breakfast buffet is excellent, the hotel staff is very friendly. Our room was excellent. Clean and beautiful and right on the water. The staff is great. Can't wait for next summer so we can come back again. Perfect place for me and my daughter to stay for our vacation.
