Hampton Inn Muskegon

There were 5 towels put out at the pool. Hot tub was broken. Remote to the TV was broken in the room.

The pool was wonderful. Kids had fun when it was raining out. Enjoyed hot tub. The breakfast was yummy. Enjoyed making the waffles. Wish had more gluten free items though. Service was friendly and helpful.

Checked in for 249 a night-supposedly with expecting stellar service. Went out for dinner Friday and came back to sleep after 1030 pm and soccer kids running around slamming doors-this was addressed by staff. Saturday morning took off for run and came back with the front trash over flowing falling on the ground. Front desk staff was in the back Saturday went in the rusty bottom pool and hot tub —both needing painted-it’s gross. Especially for the money. Bed was extremely broken down and uncomfortable, pillows almost non existent-tiny little pillows squished in the cases-cheap and non supportive. Sunday morning went down around 745 am for breakfast and though it was packed-it was early and wanted to get a good selection-no waffle mix, no bread no bagels, eggs and meat fine-oatmeal was watery and gross. The patrons were grabbing handfuls of plastic ware, leaving staff to have to fill that too. One poor guy was working the food and was trying his best. This stay was not worth 249 a night not even for the whole weekend. Maybe 65.00 per night. I can’t believe you can’t do better. Workers work hard-just not enough of them. Won’t stay here again.

Great receptionist , long breakfast hours and marvelous pool

Parking lot not cleared and very slippery with snow and slush. First room we checked into had a broken HVAC unit, so I had us moved to another room. Second room, bathroom was not clean - sticky floor and un-flushed toilet (ver surprising). Shower head was loose from the wall. Just made me feel like the hotel needs some maintenance / upgrades. Let me say that the staff was very friendly and professional, so no issue at all with them.

It was good for the most part, I wasn’t thrilled about being charged 5 dollars a night for parking though. Breakfast on Sunday morning was excellent but Monday’s breakfast left a little more to be desired. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Was a nice place to stay, lot's of restaurants buy and shopping, people are very friendly and nice, pool was nice, good breakfast..

The pool and hot tub was great-should be open later. The staff is amazing and friendly. The rooms are good, but a slight sign of wear, especially the mattresses. We were directly across from the maintenance room and the door was open the whole time and supplies in the hall (hopefully just a week long temporary thing-but a little strange). Very very safe area. No residential nearby, and plenty of chain stores, restaraunts, and a first class golf SIMS at end of road. Breakfast spread better than most like-size places. Me and my family would stay again.

Food was good, the rooms are very outdated and in bad shape. I never been to a hotel that had a EV charger that the guests had to pay for but it is very handy.

The lounge chairs were very dirty & needed to be cleaned

Our room was filthy. The vent in the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned, I wiped it down myself. No plug in the sink, you could see mold and sediment. If my wife dropped her ring or anything in the sink it would have gone down the drain. Pubic hair/other hair all over the bathtub. High ceilings in the rooms, so every corner on the ceiling have spiderwebs and are just dirty. But each corner of the room on the floor was dirty too, that should not be missed. This is basic cleaning that can't be missed, we saw it and we weren't even looking. If this room would have been clean my review would have been all good. No one wants to sleep in a dirty room no matter how good the rest of the hotel might be. Thank you.

Bedding was dirty. When I called to ask for a new room, I was informed that they don’t wash the comforters after every stay. They apparently don’t wash the pillow cases either because they smelled like BO.

We drove 7 hours to get to Muskegon so when we got there all we wanted was a shower and a nice comfortable bed to sleep in HOWEVER when we got there we got 4 rooms that were not cleaned, one of the rooms bed was just remade with dirty sheets we know this because when we pulled the covers back there was crumbs from something that someone was eating still in the bed, the pillow cases on the beds were VISIBALLY dirty, and the bathrooms had not been cleaned, bathtub had not been wash out, toilet paper rolls had little to no toilet paper on them, none of the rooms had been dusted in a LONG Time because the head boards and night stand had a lot of dust that had built up on them, they were VERY short staffed, the lady at the desk said that she was literally the only one working including housekeeping, she worked the front desk and went and tried to clean the rooms . Our stay was not good, and I am not sure if I will ever stay at another Hampton Inn. I am sure nothing will come of this, and I probably will never hear from you all again, just know that we are not pleased with Hampton Inn in Muskegon which makes it hard for us to even consider staying at ANY other locations.

I recently stayed at Hampton inn Muskegon on 3/22/25 - 3/23/25 and had an extremely unpleasant experience due to a BED BUG INFESTATION. I woke up with multiple bites (see attached photos). I immediately reported the issue to hotel management, but their response was dismissive and unhelpful once I FINALLY got someone to take my numerous calls. They did not offer a refund, and I was left to deal with the discomfort and potential risk of bringing bed bugs home. This is completely unacceptable for a hotel that should prioritize cleanliness and guest safety. I had to spend time and money treating the bites and ensuring I didn’t carry the infestation home. I strongly advise future guests to STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. I also urge Hilton to take immediate action to resolve this issue and ensure it doesn’t happen to others. I hope this review serves as a warning and prompts the hotel to take hygiene and guest concerns seriously.

The carpet was dirty as well as the floor in the bathroom. It smelled. And doors were warped. Our heat didn’t work just blew out cold air. All they could do was give us an extra blanket. That didn’t help at all. In the morning the thermostat said 59.

Property is very dated and just not clean. Doesn’t feel super safe.

The issues were the cleanliness of the rooms at the hotel. The first room I went to, the toilet was not flushed with toilet paper and had urine in it and there were crumbs all around the desk on the floor. The second room, had hair in the shower and the pillows on the bed were not nicely set. (As if someone laid down on them and got up). The last room I went to, the locked in shampoo and conditioner bottles were completely gone from their place with the locks opened. The cleanliness of the last room was far better than the prior rooms and with the late hour (11:25pm) I decided to stay and get some rest. The front desk staff, Shalyn, was amazing and very apologetic and frustrated with the lack of cleanliness of the rooms she was having me go to. She was very accommodating even with the frustration of the evening. The housekeeping either needs to have more training on how to clean, or a “clean sweep” of staff. After traveling for two hours, moving to three unclean rooms, and still have issues is unacceptable- especially for the price I paid. I haven’t had issues before so it’s definitely making me reconsider staying at this location again.

Very disappointing. We had stayed in this hotel before with no issues. This time, bedbugs were found in the room and the linen was very visibly stained. When these issues were brought up to the mange and a refund was requested since we left early, she said it happens and had a crappy attitude.

Our room smelled like stale cigarettes. Called front desk about it, and was told they have been having that problem. Had to get new bedding as our pillows had stains on them and the sheets were dirty. Their was no remote for the TV, and old food crumbs all over the furniture. Was not impressed with the cleanliness.

The shower head was facing somewhat towards the wall. So you had to stand next to wall to shower.. toilet doesn’t flush good. Had to hold handle down the whole time for it to flush

hotel shows its age. Other guests were loud in the hallway late into the evening.

Room was clean but a little outdated for the $200. plus we paid for the room.

Definitely could use a update and softer beds. Didn’t sleep well

This Hampton Inn was conveniently located. Even though it was right next to the highway, the room was quiet. The staff was friendly. Check in and check out was easy. I will say, however, compared to several other Hampton Inns we have stayed at over the past few years, this one is due for some major updates! The bathroom was very nice, but the rest of the room seemed very old and worn out. One queen bed in our room was very comfortable, while the other was terribly uncomfortable. There were no USB ports for device charging near the bed. The only charger was on the desk on the other side of the room. The carpet was older and not very clean. The doors were very old, wooden, and showed water damage and were splintering near the floor. I was not given the option of a mobile key like at many other Hampton's we have stayed recently. The breakfast was terrible. We arrived for breakfast at 8am. They were out of coffee and many of the muffin choices. Cereal choices and yogurt choices were limited as well as the fresh fruit choices. The scrambled eggs were dried out and had no taste. The breakfast tables were not clean and seating was limited.

Large water stains on ceiling including water damage in some areas. Room was otherwise clean though a bit dated. Very small sink, no counterspace to speak of. Breakfast was so-so. Staff was friendly.

Refrigerator and microwave both didn’t work

I paid a lot of money to stay here for one night and the tv was tiny. I’m sure they could afford more than a tiny 30 inch tv. Also it was very dim in the room. I put all the lights on and it was still dark in there. The rooms need to be remodeled because it looks dated. The front desk is newer but the rooms need a refresh. It was clean and did not have any musty smells. I would stay there again but the rates are outrageous for the weekend.

Service in general ok. But 2 of our rooms were never cleaned. 337 and 339.

Hotel itself was decent and rooms were clean. The gentleman was less than welcoming and acted like we interrupted his night by checking in. The other night staff was put out when I asked for change to break a larger bill for the vending machine. At check out the front desk clerk was pulling hair of her clothes and telling me it was her partners - seriously people!

The hotel gad a fantastic staff. They were very helpful and attentive

When we arrived, I felt terrible for the clerk behind the counter. There were 4 people ahead of me waiting to get their rooms. It took me over 30 minutes from the time I arrived to get checked in. Some were waiting for their rooms to be cleaned. So, checkin was a bust. Our room was very clean and that is thanks to Nanci. She was the only person available to clean rooms that day. While were heading to our room, she helped us with our suitcase on the elevator, which was very nice of her. The beds in our room were comfortable. TV Channels weren't the best.... local sports channel to watch the Detroit Tigers was not available. On our last morning, my husband headed to the breakfast area at 9:45 (breakfast was suppose to be between 7 am and 10 am) and the staff had already started to clear breakfast and he said almost everything had been put away. That was also a bust for us.

I checked in, was given a room tnat hadn't been cleaned. They figured it out quickly and gave me another, nicer one. The Monday breakfast wasn't up to Hampton standards. My room wasn't cleaned Monday night, even after i reminded the staff member. I had to ask for towels. Tuesday breakfast once again wasn't Hampton standards, the eggs tasted fake and the potatoes were not good at all. I ended up having Frosted Flakes. The staff was very nice, the service was poor.

When we arrived it took us over 15 minutes to find someone to check us in. I called the front desk 5 times and no one answered the phone, nor came to greet and check us in. We had a 91 year old who has significant physical needs. The toilet was so low to the ground she could not get herself up from the toilet. We had to find a portable potty chair so we could stay at the hotel. After asking the hotel said they nothing to help us. We had a 3 night stay booked for a family reunion. The next issue came when we arrived back at the hotel the evening after our first day. There was no room service. We were shocked when we arrived to a bathroom full of dirty towels, unmade beds, and trash still in our cans from the day before. And to top it off our TV remote did not work. After reporting it 3 times to the front desk and being told someone would make sure it was fixed the next day. It never was fixed, and every time we reported it to the front desk, they assured us it would be addressed and fixed. It was just ONE more thing we put on the list, to assure us we would never stay at this hotel again. The last nail in the coffin, was when we tried to check out of our room, we could not find anyone at the front desk to check us out. We left and had to come back after packing our vehicle. We went back to see if someone was there to help us check out. We even had to round up the kitchen help to see if they could locate someone for the front desk. It was a terrible stay☹️

We have stayed here when visiting family. The staff are always friendly and rooms are clean.

Everyone was nice and the n hotel was clean!!

Staff was not at the front desk quite a few times for customers. One time out back smoking while people waited for help. Staff was semi friendly but not great. A lot of nice shopping around which was nice. Breakfast was ok.

We booked 3 rooms for 3 families (we had 2 kids with us).. but at the time of check-in at , around 8.45 PM, the hotel staff said they got over booked and have only 2 rooms..there was no coordination between Expedia and Hotel on booking confirmation..nither Expedia nor hotel informed us that they are over booked and they did not have enough rooms for us...we had to search another hotel and have to pay higher rates than what we booked through Expedia...even worse the hotel staff said please dont trust third party like Expedia for hotel bookings..request to hotel and Expedia please dont do such thing with anyone for some extra bucks.. the only nice part that the person at help desk of Hampton Inn proactively enquired in near by hotels and gave us some options.. i see $1 got blocked from my card saved in Expedia not sure what will happne now..will they charge me for the mess they did ??

Very friendly front desk help from Will. Quick and easy check in. Clean and spacious room with king size bed and whirlpool. Also booked a double queen bed, and that was excellent as well. Located walking distance to plenty of shopping and places to eat. Would definately stay here again!

Nice area for restaurants and shopping

They only clean rooms every other day. Not an issue for me usually but some might care. The property is well maintained and quiet and close to restaurants, shopping and the highway.

Good location. Close to shopping and dining. Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean. Bed was comfortable. I would recommend!

Easy to get to and from when going into Downtown Muskegon.

The coffee was good. The breakfast was not great. They were always running out of food. Also the bed should be replaced. The location was good and close to everything we needed.

Clean, comfortable, convenient. They served breakfast an hour ahead of their regular service hours in order to accommodate the bowlers who traveled for State Championships.

The only downside was the breakfast. They were out of a lot of items, target is right next to this location, not sure why they didn’t get the things needed there, instead of making all their guests going to the counter asking.

The breakfast was horrible. No coffee. No syrup for the pancakes and very minimal to eat. Room was clean though and easy to get to.

Weekend stay, breakfast starts at 7 am, we went about 7:45am, majority of breakfast food gone or minimal, no muffins or pastries, had to ask for coffee refilling on the big pots. Only 1 staff person for a Saturday morning, person was pulled in several directions (stocking, cleaning, etc). First night we had to contact staff due to disturbances in the next room, but otherwise stay was peaceful. Breakfast was mediocre.

I like the big selection of breakfast and there choices off coffee

The hotel was clean and the staff was really friendly and nice. But the breakfast needs some major work. They ran out of everything and no one was there to re-stock. They had no coffee either. The eggs, sausage and potatoes were all gone but no one was there to put more out. And the milk was gone so you couldn’t have cereal either. This was at 8am so it’s not like it was close to breakfast ending either.
