Best Western Plaza Hotel Saugatuck

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and facilities were clean. However, the condition of facilities appeared to be getting "tired." The king bed and pillows were only moderately comfortable (I would have much rather slept on my bed at home). The wall thermostat was decommissioned. Items like the faucet and toilet were installed at an angle. The pool and hot tub were older and were lacking any luster. Etc.

We stayed here for a wedding. Nice little small town hotel. The pool area was decent and open until 11:30.

The room was dark and didn't feel clean at all. There were ants in the room on the nightstand. The pool and hot tub looked nasty. Overall didn't have a clean feel to the hotel at all. Towels super cheap quality. The gym was super tiny and only had some hand weights, treadmill and elliptical. I wouldn't stay here again.

I needed to relocate to a different hotel. Brought kids to play in the pool and hot tub… Hot tub, not working. Trying to seek a refund… The hotel would not give it to me since I ordered through Orbitz. Makes me not want to work with Orbitz anymore.

Conveniently located to downtown. Easy parking.

Quick anniversary trip to Saugatuck. Hotel was good better than other i have stayed in up in Michigan. Staff was friendly. Place was fairly clear. Hot tub was nice.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, it did not make up for the mattresses that squeaked, both of them, the spa and pool water that was murky, the tile around the spa had something on it. We wouldn't touch it to find out what it was. The tablecloth that was on the table with the coffee pots was filthy. The manager was short tempered and unfriendly. We will not be visiting there again.

Lobby and rooms were very clean, but older facility. Continental Breakfast was good.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the a desk clerk who was not even wearing shoes. He was walking through the hallways barefooted. The coffee maker was on the bathroom counter right next to the toilet, which is kind of gross when you think about it. All of the other items that should have been out on a desk or somewhere in the main part of the room were on the bathroom counter right next to the toilet. The bathroom was not clean, and there were spots on the floor next to the toilet that looked like feces. The housekeeper who was cleaning the rooms as we were checking out stunk so badly of weed that the hallways just reeked of it.

0/10, 0 stars, do not book here. Absolutely disgusting rooms. Checked in, lobby already smelled I knew it would be downhill from here. Our room reeked of urine. We immediately told them we needed a room, they tried to say it was the AC. We go to second room, it doesn’t smell but the beds are gross. Sheets are wrinkled, mattress pads isn’t covered by a barely fitting fitted sheet, you can see stains. The pillows are so worn out they don’t even fit the pillow cases. We were scared to even lay on the bed. No other hotel nearby had vacancies or we would’ve left right away. We stayed 1 night. And cancelled our second night, we just drive home. Don’t even know if we will get reimbursed. Didn’t even use the shower. The room felt gross. The carpet throughout the hotel was old and filthy, I have never been this disappointed in a hotel in all my years traveling. I thought using a best western would be safe, as it is a chain, but looks like this one is privately ran and they do not care, besides getting us a different room they did nothing to try to make this better. Will return to saugatuck but never here again. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Do not, I repeat do not book this hotel, it needs to be gutted, remodeled and stay clean.

The staff was very very nice and the hotel was very clean. The breakfast was adequate however The only disappointment is they had no real butter for the waffles. 😞

The hotel is dated and in need of significant updates. The bath was not cleaned properly. Staff had to come back and clean again before we could use it

Cockroaches in our room. It was gross and they only offered a small discount. It was disappointing.

Find earwigs in the bathroom. Toilet got backed up. Chlorine smell by the pool was too strong didn’t use for that reason. Continental breakfast was spot on very good assortments to choose from.

This is actually a pretty decent option if you are looking to stay in the Saugatuck Douglas area on a budget. The condition of the hotel leaves a bit to be desired, but it is clean and in a good location. The only real complaint I have is that we were on the first floor, and the noise from the room above us made it very difficult to sleep during our first night. We could hear people stomping around until at least 2:00am. It was ridiculous. However, we alerted the front desk when it became a problem on our second night, and they addressed the issue promptly.

Everything is very outdated. The lighting in the rooms is so dim and hard to see. I stayed her while getting ready for a wedding and I couldn’t see well in the mirror to do my make up. In my room, the ceiling was dripping water. I didn’t notice until morning, because again, I could barely see in there and was only able to see with the daylight coming through the windows. If I come to the area again, I will not be staying here.

Older hotel, but clean with very comfy beds.

Standard motel. Older decor, functional. Some things didn’t work such as bath tub drain. We were on bottom flirt, very noisy above on first night. Breakfast was average.

The beds are super comfy, which makes up for the small size rooms. There’s also a musty smell in the rooms. The breakfast is decent and the pool was just okay. Location is great and staff very nice.

It was fine and the breakfast was a nice plus, but the rooms are very dark. Windows are really small and the TV remote is difficult to maneuver. It was difficult to find the channels needed to watch. Overall it was okay, but I think very over priced, really. I know if was a holiday weekend but almost $300 per night is a bit much for what is offered.

The property and room were clean. We had a room with two queen beds, which also had a sofa bed, table with two chairs, a fridge and coffee maker. The only negatives were that the WIFI was terrible and the tv channel listings in the welcome book were completely outdated. We did not have the complementary breakfast as they stop serving at 9 a.m.

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Saugatuck. Very convenient location to downtown (5 minutes) and easy to navigate check in and out. The staff were friendly and went the extra mile for guests. The room did have a musty smell requiring us to spray fabreeze constantly and you could hear people walking, talking, etc constantly as well.

Staff was always polite and quick to wait on us. Rooms clean and comfy.

The family owning the property is awesome. Work hard to create a great space. We had an issue with the AC and they were at the door in minutes with a fix (user error). Highly recommend.

Staff was very friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. I asked for and received a veterans discount from the staff at check in which isn’t available through the site I placed the reservation which is always appreciated. I was amazed by the quality and quantity of what was available for breakfast, this wasn’t just coffee and a muffin like most places. Our room was huge, more for a family than a couple but we enjoyed having the extra rooms and the jacuzzi tub. Pool was heated and the area was spotless but hot tub wasn’t operating as it was the off season. Place is a little dated but nothing out of the ordinary for the lakeshore from our experience. We will come back here.

No one was managimg the breakfast area and there was very little food amd no coffee within the first hour. Also, check out time is at 11. However, at 10:00 am the cleaning ataff entered our room without knocking.

Would not stay here again. We waited 10 minutes at the desk ringing the bell before anyone came to help us check in. We came down for breakfast at 8am and whatever was on the hot plates was gone and wasn't refilled the 15 minutes we were there. The lady at the front desk was on a personal call and not attending to guests. We grabbed some coffee and left.

One of the worst experience on a family vacation. The staff was rude, parking lot, dining area, trays at the coffee bar, jam smeared on the elevator floor, bed sheets that didn’t fit - it was dirty. They still had food crumbs on the dining tables at 3 pm. The pool was unkept. We lost power, air conditioning and wifi and the staff closed themselves in the office. Was rude when we asked a time frame. We attempted to spend every moment we could afford outside the hotel. We will not be back a best western. I wish we would have taken photos, but were so embarrassed of the conditions. The staff and location need to be visited from upper management.

For how much is charged per night, I expected better quality and service. The plumbing in our bathroom was terrible. I explained it to the front desk and she handed me a plunger. I had the sign on my door for our room to be made up (more so for the issue with the toilet than anything) and it wasn\'t touched. Breakfast food was mediocre at best, we didn\'t even bother eating it the 2nd day. I told all of this to the gentleman at the front desk at check out and all he said was "ok". Side note..... The elevator is slower than molasses.

We were looking for a hotel to celebrate a bachelorette party. It wasn't walkable to downtown, due to safety, not distance, but it was still close to everything we needed. It was clean, somewhat updated and had a friendly staff.

Super close to all the Saugatuck/Douglas action, but outside of the busiest areas, so it was nice and peaceful! Room was clean and well kept. The decor could use a refresh maybe, but it was still in good shape.

Very quiet and nestled in a wooded area. Lovely staff. Good breakfast. (get there early) Clean. A little dated but very clean. Would definitely recommend.

Startes with spotty cleaning. The room coffee maker produced awful coffee. I went into the lobby for that coffee and it was like a Burger King quality. For $200 a night I would have appreciated a decent brew. Then the eggs were like a space food, didn't taste like real eggs. I left hungry. The room was outdated and was in need of repair. All of this for $200/night--during off-season!

Generally, rundown old age needs to be refurbished. Continental Breakfast was limited zero meat available. The biscuits were dried out and the reconstituted eggs left much to be desired. I’ve had many other continental breakfasts that were 10 times better than this

Nice enough for a weekend when you will be out most of the day and would not be using the hotel much except to sleep. Lobby is small so no real gathering space, though they have a couple of card/board games. Breakfast ended too early (9:30, even on the weekend) and they were already out of items at 9:15. We had to hunt down staff to ask them to refill waffle batter and they never restocked eggs or potatoes despite being asked to. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.

It was just as we expected. The continental breakfast was more than we expected. Very nice!
