Norwood Inn & Suites Eagan

We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, but this one takes the prize. The breakfast was a joke. Cereal and bread, really. The wifi never worked. We got woke up in the middle of the night because the pipes from the upstairs unit were ridiculously loud. Nice touch having the pool to store all the old furniture. The side door was unlocked all night. The staff picking up garbage with tongs and a Target shopping cart was a nice touch. Expedia should ban this property.

Check in was horrible, front desk staff were very unfriendly, stated that my name was not in the system for check - in even though I showed a confirmation number. Found hair in our bed. Microwave and the TV did not work. Also TV is antenna channels only (not sure if someone mentioned that). Garbage was over filled by the side doors, cigarette butts all around. Our room also had a leaky faucet so water was everywhere. Pool and the spa were used as a storage/office area. Ice machine did not work, so we had to get ice at the front desk.

It is being renovated. Had to walk outside to get to lobby for the bkfst. Bkfst is underwhelming. Housekeeping never came to room in 3 night stay. One set of doors was security locked the rest had no locks so anyone could walk in the building at any time. Trash was piled up outside side entry.

Walls are too thin, pool and sauna closed, barely a gym. Looked like one of the locks was yanked out my door

This is definitely an older property in desperate need of some updating, though the lobby was pretty clean and presentable. The building is nicely painted on the outside in (patriotic?) red, white, and blue with funky matching lighting. The pool area is used for storage, and they don’t bother hiding that fact as there is old furniture, lamps, etc. everywhere around the empty pool, all clearly visible from the outside. The bathrooms inside the rooms are pretty sad with very dated combo tub/shower inserts and the toilet could have been cleaner for sure, though you could tell someone had made an effort at least, just not enough of one. Weird metal bed supports that make a loud metallic banging sound when accidentally kicked, something which happens more than you would think! The pillows were all constructed of thick foam, something some will like more than others… If you like forming the pillow into the shape you like for sleeping, that’s virtually impossible with these. Linens were otherwise clean, heater and a/c worked well, as did the microwave and fridge. There’s a 24 hour grocery store 3 minutes from the property which turned out to be a life-saver for us at 2am when we realized we had forgotten some trip items. We found this motel to be fine if you just need a VERY reasonably-priced place to sleep and aren’t a high-maintenance type of person.

The water was barely warm. Kept running out of hot water. The bathtub was dirty. The breakfast was just unfrosted cornflakes, toast, bagels, water, milk, and I think it was apple juice. Front desk ppl weren’t very friendly. Advertised having an indoor pool and hot tub but it’s full of storage and office items. Several exits and entrances were not secure. There was a $100 security deposit that wasn’t mention on hotels.com

Was charged $5 cash extra to check in at 2:00 p.m. Front desk said that was the charge for checking in one hour early. The sink and tub in the first room I was given (Room 104) was clogged and would not drain. Also both light bulbs by the beds were burned out & did not work. I was finally moved to room 125 late the night of March 14th. The property was very dirty, both inside and out. There was discarded furniture by the back door (close to where we parked our vehicle). Also we saw that the pool area had discarded furniture stacked in that area...when we were told the pool was closed for renovations by the front desk. I would not stay at this property again!!

It's a cheap hotel. A real cheap hotel. The rooms smell like 30 years of cigarette smoke. There's no elevator to the second floor. There's weird stains on the carpet. The 2nd story hall floor has lumps and significant divers. You already know the ice machine is broken. New light fixtures are already hanging loosely on the wall with wires exposed. BUT the showers are hot. There's soap and shampoo. And the price is cheap. Which is why it's a 3 star and not a 1.

Yeah, no. Do not stay here. I felt completely unsafe on the property as the exterior doors were just wide open by my room (trust me, I tried to close them but they were broken and couldn’t shut fully). I had no towels in my room and when I went to the front desk the staff person couldn’t find any. She said she’d call someone and would have them to me in 15 minutes. I gave her my room number but after waiting an hour I finally took the long hike back to the front desk to ask about them again since there were no phones in the room to call the front desk. This is an incredibly run down property that I don’t think is deserving of the two and a half star rating it currently has. I was so uncomfortable with how unsafe I felt and how loud it was in my room that I ended up leaving around 11pm instead of staying the night. Total waste of money.

Room smelled like cigarettes, check in took 20 minutes because the front desk person was not there. Pool was used as storage. Fitness room was limited. Hotel did not clean the snow in the parking lot

Room appearance was “updated.” Carpet was dirty and there was mold in shower. The room was loud and we were kept up late with the tv next door. There was a large gap under doorway to see the light coming in from the hallway. Breakfast may as well have been nothing. Wouldn’t stay here again!

Im not sure if they were remodeling or what. My room had stains on the sheets and walls. Shower curtains and bathtub were moldy. Not a little bit of mold, quite a bit. So bad i did not shower. Sink was broken but faucet worked. I do not recommend staying here.

Untrained staff Very dirty a portion of the wall fell off while we were sleeping

The day of my stay tv wasn't working holes and so much damage in the room. It smelled like cigarettes and weed. Plus, anytime I went downstairs to ask for anything the lady with the unibrow always super rude, attitude seemed to be with only me because I’m literally waiting my turn to get a new card because my card stopped working she was very nice to the white lady and so crosses with me anytime I asked a question or wondered why room service never came and cleaned the room. Mind you I still never got my $100 back from my deposit. Me and my family were visiting from Illinois for a week. Very sad to find roaches bedbugs in our room will never be staying here again.

Absolutely awful experience. The room was filthy, bugs in the shower and in the bed. Carpet and walls are stained, beer cans and trash in the hallways and on the grounds. This company has absolutely no pride in their business. I tried to get a refund but they declined, and suggested I contact Expedia (who I booked through) for a refund.

Room was infested with roaches. Roaches was everywhere and falling down from the ceiling very nasty.

First off, I am not high maintenance. I have lived in third world countries and the hotels were better than this by leaps and bounds. Absolutely FILTHY! Bugs, boogers, dirt, blood on sheets, toilet didn’t work, heard several reports of bedbugs and roaches. We switched rooms because our room door didn’t lock and smelled like smoke and weed, yet it says “no smoking.” We had kids with us! Since they wouldn’t give us a refund and we were all exhausted, we switched rooms and tried to sleep. I felt disgusting. There were no bath towels, just two washcloths. I didn’t even shower because it looked so gross. There were old chicken nuggets and underwear under the bed! And this is in EAGAN! And it had a comparable price to other hotels in the area. Absolutely unbelievable! As an infection preventionist, I am appalled and calling the health department on Monday. Shut this place down!

Sheets were stained, toilet was leaking, smelled bad, in poor condition, looks like where you would go for a drug deal or bring a red light girl.

The property already had garbage stacked at every door when we arrived. Then walked into a dirty room, floors were flithy, walls dirty and fridge was nasty. Then to top it off woke up to roaches in the room. Will not be stay here again and do not recommend.

The sheets were stained, ther bugs everywhere including cockroaches.

The hotel was nice and clean inside. The grass around the parking area was littered with trash. There was even a piano harp laying in the grass. The room was newly remodeled and visually clean. We could hear the tackiness of the laminate floor when we came in. It was clean so maybe too much cleaning solution was used when the flior was cleaned. The bed frame was metal, and although it looked nice, the metal popped every time I moved on the bed and I was concerned with waking up the other person in the room every time I moved or got up. We were unable to get the TV to work. To be fair, we only tried it in the morning right while we were getting ready to leave. At check out, I was told that there was a button on the TV that we were supposed to push to get the remote to work. It would have been helpful to have been told that at check in or had a note somewhere in the room to communicate that. There was a breakfast available, but it was very basic. White bread, plain bagels, apples, oatmeal, dry cereal, coffee, apple juice, and milk. There were sweeteners and half & half pod available. But there was no protein or non dairy creamer.

The room was clean, well-maintained, and had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay.

Property appears to have been recently come under new management and previous management clearly stopped doing any maintenance a LONG time ago. 1st room I was assigned was missing a window. Screens were bent and did not close all the way. 2nd room was in similar disrepair. Had all the windows but did not seal properly. Screens were bent and also did not seal. Hair dryer was not mounted to the wall, was simply placed on the vanity next to the sink - very unsafe. Outlet in bathroom needed to be replaced as it was cracked and chipped. Refrigerator was new, but was oversized and did not fit under the counter and had styrofoam and plastic coating still on the doors and shelves. Breakfast was minimal. Staff was great and very accommodating.

You can smell cigarettes in the hallway, there’s no elevator, breakfast was just bagels and breads. The bathroom in my room was draining so slow, tv in the room only turned on and off but can’t change channels, no wifi.

It was ok. The person that checked us in was great. The hot tub was on a timer that you had to struggle your way out and reset. This seriously needs to be moved so we don’t have to get all the way out of the tub. I liked it was wood floors. But they were slippery when wet. Like getting in and out of the hot tub to turn on the timer. Heard the people above us. There is a gap between the hallway door and room. Breakfast options toast and cold cereal only.

The room was a bit empty and had hard flooring with no carpet. The walls are thin and you can hear everything outside, plus the non stop pounding from upstairs at 3am. Breakfast was frozen waffles with a toaster, bread and butter, with two choices of juice. The staff was great though. I would say it was exactly what we paid for, so it is what was expected.

We had several delayed flights, which put our check-in past 10 pm. I sent a message to the hotel, and received a message back saying our reservation was secure. When we arrive at 3 am, exhausted and travelweary with little kids in tow, the lobby was a very warm temperature. I'd say it was at least 80°. The man who checked me in said breakfast was at 9:30. I should have clarified, because breakfast was from 7 to 9 am. After trudging up the stairs, we discovered our room was scorching, like the rest of the building. Our kid thermometer said it was over 90°. We turned the A/C unit on immediately and stripped down. I opened the fridge freezer mini combo and found it needed to be defrosted at least a year ago. The fridge part was too warm. We had to put milk and children's prescription medications on ice to keep them cold. Thank heavens the ice machine worked. We then lay on hard beds, with flat pillows, without blankets because it was like a sauna. The kids and I fell asleep. My husband couldn't sleep due to the heat. He sat in the wobbly desk chair near the A/C, because the unit would turn off every so often. We overslept our alarm, then rushed to check out by 11 am. It was still hot in the room at 10:20 am when we woke up. A woman knocked on the door at 11:10, telling us we needed to check out. We forgot an item and when I called to see if they found it, and she said yes, but they wouldn't send it. The room was clean-ish, the bedding was okay. The floors were dirty. D+ stay.

Checked in ∧ checked out 30 minutes later. The air conditioning wasn’t plugged in, the smoke detector wasn’t in place. Front Desk person check on all of this. Put the smoke detector up and it started beeping after he left - needed batteries. Windows on 1st floor were out of their tracks. We left and found another place to stay. We’d like a total refund. They said to contact Expedia since we booked through you. You obviously have my name and email. Contact me ASAP re: a refund. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We watched 7 people walk out due to the shape of their rooms. Waited in line for 45 minuets to check in, only for the front desk to tell us that they didn't have the rooms i had already paid for without even asking for my name or reservation. The man at the desk threw his cell phone down, and told my hisband and I to get a refund and leave. I tried to get a refund and when my booking aget called to verify they LIED and said we never came ro check in and that they held our rooms. Hotels wont do anything about it, because they lied. Trash.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the recent experience I had at Norwood Inn & Suites Eagan St Paul & Mall of America hotel. My stay, which was meant to be a relaxing and enjoyable one, turned out to be a complete nightmare. Upon arrival, I was shocked to find that it took over an hour to check in. The inefficiency and lack of organization at the front desk were truly unacceptable. However, the issues did not stop there. The hotel rooms were in a deplorable state - dirty, with visible mold in various areas. The toilet seat was dingy and clearly in need of replacement, and many amenities were either out of service or broken. Furthermore, the behavior of the hotel staff was appalling. I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism at every turn, which only added to my growing frustration. To make matters worse, I experienced a distressing incident where all the money I had left in the room was taken by housekeeping. Despite reporting the incident to the management, I was met with indifference and a lack of urgency in resolving the matter. The complete disregard for my concerns was truly disheartening. Given the multitude of issues I encountered during my stay, I feel compelled to strongly advise others against choosing Norwood Inn & Suites Eagan St Paul & Mall of America hotel for their accommodation needs. The level of service and the overall condition of the facilities are simply unacceptable.

Fridge didn’t work Also they double charged me and when i called the first time the “manager” wasn’t there. Waited until end of the week to call back for him. Called and they put me on hold and then just hung up. Called back 5 times and hung the phone up immediately. Then when they finally answered he said he was going to “look it over” and get back to me. This was 3 weeks ago and still no return call. Had to just got through my bank and dispute it. Ridiculous and would not recommend

The rooms are clean and good. Very friendly staff

First off you get what you pay for. That being said I got less than that. There were literal eaten chicken wing bones left on the floor. We had 2 towels in our room. No remote control for the TV. Curtain had a big rip in it. Cigarette burn on the bed. Pool was closed and out of service. It was outdated and just hard to enjoy any part of the stay as there cleanliness was obviously lacking.

I was checking in late and had already paid for the room thru one of the travel sites. When I got there, they asked for my card to have the numbers for the security deposit. I gave them my card and when they swiped it, a message came back that I didn't have enough room left. I was embarrassed and trying to figure out what i could do to satisfy the security deposit when the man behind the counter told me not to worry about it. He said it was late and I looked very tired and he would give me the benefit of the doubt and waive the deposit this one time. That meant i got to proceed to my room and get some much needed sleep. I was so happy and relieved.

Very clean with warm hospitality

Check out wasn’t great, had to call the front desk(which we were standing at) to get someone to come to the front desk, the worker appeared to have been sleeping.

I booked and paid for a room online and arrived to check in within 30 minutes. When I arrived desk staff were incredibly rude, pointing to a sign on the counter and asking me "Can you READ?" Despite having listed availability on their booking partner's website, they had no rooms available and seemed in a rush to turn me away, quickly dismissing any questions I asked about a refund. I would have happily ignored the grimy common areas if there had only been a clean bed to sleep in for the night, but thanks to Norwood's abhorrent customer service conduct and booking policy, I didn't have to.

Check-in was terrible. While I was waiting, he was on his cell phone for 15 minutes and I was waiting for him to finish his personal call.

A very comfortable and clean place to stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the location was convenient. Perfect for a quick trip!

Overall not too bad. Pretty descent hotel, close to my location for the next day. Breakfast left a little to be desired but better than nothing. For the price it was a good nights rest.

Had to move rooms because upstairs guest was playing rugby or WWE. Hotel staff accommodating. INSANE highway noise. Entire hotel stank of marijuana on both floors (seemed like all the guests were baking in their rooms and outside). Hotel was clean, and fairly convenient to MSP, but would NOT stay again.

I liked the quiet and clean environment my room offered. The only thing I didn't like was the smell of cigarettes in the hallway. Luckily the smell didn't carry over to the room. Other than that, the location feels safe. There's also a lot of shops nearby.

The bars of soap were so small they "melted" with 1 shower. Breakfast was very spare, bread, apples, coffee, juice & corn flakes. Ok for the price.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, we had to have our room key updated to allow room access every day. That was tiresome. The complementary breakfast left A LOT to be desired. There were only bread offerings and those were of the very basic options. The supplies were not very well maintained during the hours that breakfast was offered. I feel that this is an area that needs improvement.

I was very happy to see that they are eco-friendly, as we practice this at home too. But I was disappointed that the only breakfast available during our stay was bread and milk.

Room was excellent - very clean! The lobby carpet was in desperate need of replacing - duct tape holding it together in many places. Breakfast was very disappointing - barely anything. Had to get breakfast somewhere else.

For Breakfast there’s only cereal and Bread and juice there’s no Eggs no Waffles when I asked them they said that’s the only think we offer.

Breakfast was a joke. Small bagels, wheat bread and corn flakes. TV would not work. Loud cars outside. Room floor needed to be swept and mopped.

The place generally LOOKS like the pics you see online. Then you realized most of it is superficial with many fixtures not working, keeping the olde shower curtains that dont reach far enough causing puddling in the floor, bedside lighting doesnt work and breakfasts are on par with prison.
